Why You Should Balance a Meal Between Homemade and Takeout Food | Eater

"Known for comforting Korean-Chinese dishes, an order of tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour crispy pork) and jjajangmyeon was used as the restaurant component of a mixed home-and-takeout dinner, proving to be an easy, satisfying centerpiece when complemented by a simple homemade side like bok choy." - Rebecca Roland

I ordered the jajangmyeon with green chilis, and it came out super quick. In 5 minutes, I was chowing down. Just be careful not to wear your favorite shirt because the sauce is black and can stain pretty badly. I didn't think it was spicy at all but the heat from the chili's was OK. It's a savory bowl of noodles with onions and small pieces of meat; I've ordered it the two times I've gone and haven't regretted it.

4/5 Stars I wasn’t expecting much when I walked into Paik’s Noodle House at the Hmart Food Hall, but I was genuinely surprised. It was surprisingly good! The flavors were bold, the noodles were cooked just right, and the portions were generous. I was pleasantly surprised with the squid that was in there lol. It was just an order of stir fry noodles. It definitely exceeded my expectations for a quick noodle spot. The place had a simple setup, but the food did all the talking. I’ll definitely be back when I’m craving noodles!

As someone who's been excited about Paik’s Noodle for years—especially after seeing it so often on Korean TV—it was a pleasant surprise to find a location now open inside H Mart Las Vegas. With over 300 locations worldwide and a solid reputation in South Korea for Korean-Chinese comfort food, I was genuinely looking forward to finally trying it myself. Unfortunately, my visit didn’t meet the expectations I had built up over time. I ordered the Chili Jjamppong, a spicy noodle soup known for its bold, savory broth filled with meat, seafood, and vegetables. The dish arrived in about 10 minutes, piping hot with steam rising—a detail I really appreciated, as I enjoy my soups extra hot in temperature. The presentation was solid and looked promising, and I even took photos before diving in. However, the flavor was extremely disappointing. The broth lacked any depth or seasoning—it didn’t taste bad per se, but rather, it had no taste at all. I’ve had Chili Jjamppong many times over the years from various restaurants, and this one was unfortunately the most flavorless version I’ve ever tried. I honestly couldn’t identify what I was tasting or even what I was supposed to be tasting. Adding to the disappointing food experience was the service. The staff member taking orders seemed visibly unhappy, almost irritated, with a tone and attitude that felt cold and unwelcoming. It’s unfortunate because service plays a big part in the overall dining experience, especially for a brand that has such a large presence and high expectations tied to its name. In summary: * If you’re a fan of Jjamppong and looking for bold, comforting flavors, this isn’t the place I would recommend. * The service could also use serious improvement in friendliness and customer care. I genuinely wanted to enjoy my visit, and I hope this was just an off day. But based on my experience, I’d recommend exploring other options in the area for Korean-Chinese cuisine.

Yelp
Came on a Friday evening, and the food court was very busy! Paik's noodle is pretty common throughout different H Mart, so I was excited to try this spot out to see how it compared to other places. Definitely comparable to other locations! I was very satisfied, definitely understand why this place is a staple in H marts. Order at the counter, no need to tip and self serve. Love this type of spot. Jjampong AKA seafood noodles ($16 after tax, 7/10) - 1st off, the portion sizes are HUGE!!! the bowl that it comes in is gigantic. The noodles, meat, seafood was literally bulging through the soup, as you can see in the picture. Easily shared between two people - Flavor is very homestyle, soothing, and traditional. It's not overly salty, but each bite of the meat, noodles, and veggies felt like I was at home again, eating my mom's soup - Definitely on the spicier side, so expect a little bit of heat when you get this dish. It comes with a side of radish, which helped to cut the spice a little Didn't get to try the Jajanmyeon at this exact location this time, but at other Paik's noodles, their jajanmyeon always hit the spot and was very reliable. Definitely will it here another time.

Yelp
This location is inside Hmart food court. I should have ordered spicy jjangmyeon. But I got regular. The jjangmyeon was bland to me but my son liked it. It could have used a little more salt. But my wife thought it was sweet? We still finished it. The Jjampong was spicy and ok. There was a couple pieces of mussels and squid. Service was good. It's a food hall and you return your trays to the restaurant where you got food. But it was pretty clean. Food was ok. Not sure if I will be trying it again. But if I do, I'm ordering spicy!

Yelp
First things first.... I'm taking off a star for that god-awful way they tell you your food is ready. Each place has a screen and post order numbers when ready. BUT each store's system also "bongs" loudly each time an order is ready so imagine 5-6 "bongs" on a pretty continuous basis. If I worked there, I'd probably be insane by 12:30 on any given day. The other negative was the fact that even though they had a sign that said no carts in the food hall, today must have been the day when patrons were reading challenged. Several carts blocking aisles. There was kind of an area to park your cart off to the side though. Personally, i'rather not leave my cart unattended as I think some of my food may grow legs and escape.. especially if I bought expensive meat or sushi or sashimi. I did what many folks did and put my bags of groceries back in the car and came back. Next time I will eat first, then shop. On to the food... My dining companion. And I both ordered the jajamyeong ...I wanted the jajamyeong with rice and an omelette that showed on the online menu but they weren't doing that at this location. About a ten minute wait. Decent size portion, the black bean sauce was a bit watery to me. LOTS of onion, didn't see any sweet potato. The noodles were hot and toothsome... Overall, just ok plenty of better stuff around. I think their menu is still in the growing stage because I think several other items from the online menu we're not available. Didn't ask for a military discount, will I come back? Probably only if I am shopping here and I got the hangries......

Yelp
Upon arriving we were greeted by the cashier who was polite. I ordered the black bean noodles and the sweet and sour pork. The black bean noodles was the star of our meal. The sweet and sour pork however was quite breaded and not crispy as i had liked. Kinda disappointed with the texture and flavor, but the black bean noodles made up for it. I'd skip the sweet sour pork all together. The food came out fast!

Yelp
Welcome to Las Vegas, Paik! Paik's Noodle is a Chinese Korean restaurant chain from South Korea. They have many locations scattered through Korea and they have a good amount scattered across the US. California has the most Paik's locations in the US and now Las Vegas has their first. Chinese Korean restaurants are known for their jjajangmyeon (black bean sauce noodles), jjamppong (spicy seafood noodles), and tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) as they are the trifecta of the cuisine. Paik's Noodle is located inside the newly opened H Mart food court. Their menu options have a smaller variety than a regular sit down restaurant but it has the most important ones. My friends and I came this past Sunday for a late lunch. We walked right on into the food court, found a table, and scattered to order our food. My husband and I got an order of their jjajangmyeon, chili jjajangmyeon, and tangsuyuk. I think the wait for our food was about 15-20 minutes. Jjajangmyeon - Paik's version is classic, straight forward, and no frills. This is how jjajangmyeon should taste like. Jjajangmyeon has been around for quite some time and the recipe/cooking method for is the same anywhere you go (or should be). The noodles that they used were superb -- the firmness of the noodles were just right. Chili jjajangmyeon - A spin on the classic jjajangmyeon but adding chilies and making the dish spicy. This dish was absolutely delicious. It had a layer of garlic as well so it was super garlicky and super spicy. If you can't handle buldak (the spicy chicken ramen), then I would advise against this. The noodles were also perfect for this dish. However, because of how spicy and garlicky this dish was, it no longer tasted like jjajangmyeon. Tangsuyuk - This was probably my least favorite item. The batter, flavor, and cooking method was on point but it wasn't fresh. I think it was warm when we picked it up vs hot. So this might be pre-made which is fine for a food court. The prices are pretty similar to all the other Chinese Korean places across the valley. What's great about the H Mart food court is that each booth has a screen that shows what number they're serving at the moment so it makes it super easy than trying to listen to a number. Definitely would get their food again if we were in the area!

Yelp
Was finally able to get into H-Mart and the food hall without any lines! We tried our luck for the first time on a rainy day, and have returned multiple times without having to wait outside. After getting lost in groceries, we headed to the food hall for some grub. I decided on Paik's Noodles - the jjampong was DELICIOUS. The serving size was generous, spice level was perfect and it packed a load with seafood and noodles. THE perfect rainy day meal. In the food hall, they give you numbers for your order and then a bell rings every time an order is complete, and shows up on the restaurant's TV. The only issue is that all restaurant bells sound the same so you have to check in here and there. I wish they had buzzers instead. Otherwise, this east coast girl living in Vegas is thrilled to finally have a h-mart out here!

Yelp
We went to Paik's Noodle in H Mart and ordered the stir-fried Jajangmyeon. It was about $20 before tax, but the portion was very generous. My husband and I really enjoyed the dish. There were lots of veggies, meat, and shrimp mixed in with the noodles, and the sauce was very flavorful. We also ordered the dumplings, which were a nice addition to the meal. We both agreed we'll be adding this spot to our regular list when we're in the mood for these types of noodles. We had plenty of leftovers to take home. The food came out quickly and the service was excellent. We ate in the food court, which was clean and casual with plenty of seating and other food options nearby.

Yelp
I like the $13.95 Jjamppong noodle soup here. Absolutely delicious. Menu is simple and easy to read. Cashier is helpful. There's a good selection of Chinese Korean foods here as usual. Paik's Noodle locations are popular in California. I felt like I'm eating a great deal here because portions were generous in noodles/vegetables/squid-octopus bits/etc. The bowl size was huge compared to what you would normally get in California for higher prices. Spice level was very good and the longer you drink the soup, the sweeter it tastes. One bowl can easily feed 2-3 portions. Traditional noodle or rice items are always good. You can go with stir fried items too. Wait for order number to appear on screen above. Return trays back to the vendor area you ordered from. The food court vibes are a perfect fit for these type foods. Inexpensive and decent. Tastes authentic to me. I would return to try something else next time. Portions are unbeatable.

Yelp
Delicious JaJangmeon just like mama used to make Traditional Chinese noodles in a black bean sauce. Akin to Asian spaghetti. Around $11 a bowl and if you would like double noodles it's a few dollars more, but you'd have to have a above average appetite. Fast service and is ready in a matter of minutes! They serve other dishes, but the Jajangmeon is my go to favorite. I've had this dish my entire life and this is exactly what I am used to. Absolute perfection!

Yelp
Good food that's very affordable in this economy. Easy to order and get. Sat nearby at the tables. Definitely will be back

Yelp
So, went again and they had a new item on the menu. A spicy jjajangmyun. It's not just the sliced peppers over the noodles, the black bean sauce has chili oil which gives it heat. Try it. I still think that not having a fire wok flavor to the jjajang sauce is disappointing at this place, but this item brings the heat and you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
The place was clean as place is new. I ordered Jjampong. The noodles were chewy and very good. Broth was ok. It didn't have deep taste that I like in a broth. Service was great. Waitress came several times to check on me.

Yelp
The flavors are definitely not the same as the original. I've had this Dallas, Salt Lake City and Los Angeles. The flavors are not consistent at this location.

Yelp
Very simple restaurant serving two main dishes. I had the chili 짜장면 and my wife had the 짱뽕. My dish tasted very good but I wished it had more noodle and meat. My wife's dish was good portion with plenty of seafood and the taste was very good. The service was very prompt on a very busy day all due to the grand opening of the H mart. I will definitely return but definitely wait until the crowd dies down. Oh, the owner was very nice and very friendly. I can't imagine being that friendly when it was probably a very hectic day.

Yelp
Sincerely honest review: Sweet and sour pork is supposed to be crispy but it was chewy. Felt like it was sitting out for too long. Black bean noodle tasted mediocre at best with lots of pungent pork fat taste remaining in your mouth. Spicy noodle broth was pretty decent but there was hardly any seafood in there. I tried the Paik's Noodle in California and it was really good but not this one...Absolutely below average, yet overpriced, Korean Chinese place in Vegas. Worst of all is their customer service. They need to at least greet the customer so we can order. There was a rather large Korean guy and an older lady working the counter and both of them just don't greet customers. Not sure if they fought with each other but they don't have any customer service skills in terms of taking the order and handing it off to the customer. Wish they would have iPads to enter the order. Won't be coming back and will not recommend this place as other establishments are much cleaner and tastier.
