As someone who's been excited about Paik’s Noodle for years—especially after seeing it so often on Korean TV—it was a pleasant surprise to find a location now open inside H Mart Las Vegas. With over 300 locations worldwide and a solid reputation in South Korea for Korean-Chinese comfort food, I was genuinely looking forward to finally trying it myself.
Unfortunately, my visit didn’t meet the expectations I had built up over time.
I ordered the Chili Jjamppong, a spicy noodle soup known for its bold, savory broth filled with meat, seafood, and vegetables. The dish arrived in about 10 minutes, piping hot with steam rising—a detail I really appreciated, as I enjoy my soups extra hot in temperature. The presentation was solid and looked promising, and I even took photos before diving in.
However, the flavor was extremely disappointing. The broth lacked any depth or seasoning—it didn’t taste bad per se, but rather, it had no taste at all. I’ve had Chili Jjamppong many times over the years from various restaurants, and this one was unfortunately the most flavorless version I’ve ever tried. I honestly couldn’t identify what I was tasting or even what I was supposed to be tasting.
Adding to the disappointing food experience was the service. The staff member taking orders seemed visibly unhappy, almost irritated, with a tone and attitude that felt cold and unwelcoming. It’s unfortunate because service plays a big part in the overall dining experience, especially for a brand that has such a large presence and high expectations tied to its name.
In summary:
* If you’re a fan of Jjamppong and looking for bold, comforting flavors, this isn’t the place I would recommend.
* The service could also use serious improvement in friendliness and customer care.
I genuinely wanted to enjoy my visit, and I hope this was just an off day. But based on my experience, I’d recommend exploring other options in the area for Korean-Chinese cuisine.
