"Paindemie is a two-level spot where you enter through what looks like a Japanese subway station. Classic cocktails, sake, and beer are served in the upstairs speakeasy, where you can dine on marble surfaces lit by warm lamps and neon. Some menu items come in paper carton boxes a la fast-food burger joint, like the Big Mac-inspired Le Big Mie with goat patties and cheddar. (If you’d prefer plates and silver trays, go for the escargot toastie.) Make a reservation to eat in the bar, or just grab a beer or sake and head back downstairs to enjoy it with your egg salad sando." - paolo espanola

Paindemie has an impressive interior design surprise on the upper level. I have been here multiple times and the service, food and drinks are always exceptionally good!
The cheeseburger and the spinach salad were very tender, fresh and full of flavour and the Jasmine martini cocktail was very refreshing.
The new twists on the cocktails and sake on the menu makes you curious to come back here and try something new every time. Love this place!

Ambiance very underground Japanese style. They really put a lot of efforts into it and I do appreciate that a lot! Bonus point for those inox dining tables.
I ordered a menu with le big mie and hash browns. Unfortunately they didn’t have hash browns anymore so I was really disappointed because not a lot of restaurant propose this amazing item. Instead I got fries. They were slightly too salty for me but it was delicious!
The burger was so good. Loved the sesame seeds on the bun. It was seasoned perfectly and the home made mayo was also delicious!! It’s a big meal so come hungry!
I think it’s the best kind of hangover food or when you really feel hungry 💗

Ate in the speakeasy upstairs and it was very cute. Small and dark, very intimate and chill. The escargot toastie was so good, we talked about it everyday for the rest of our trip in Amsterdam. The dessert was amazing too! all around 10/10

This is one of my favorite cocktail bars in Amsterdam. The speakeasy “hidden” gem is right above a Japanese diner and has such a bizarre vibe that it’s just perfect.
Went there the other day after seeing a movie at Filmhallen (A real pain - go watch it!!) with my boyfriend. We had the burgers, which are typically Japanese street food with smashed paddies in toast buns. I had the veggie cheeseburger and my boyfriend had the “Le big Mie” without cheese. Tbf they messed up the order and brought it with cheese so we had to send it back.
The waitress is super chatty and funny and just fits the whole vibe. She made an amazing Sake recommendation that fit our taste to the T!
If you want to do something special with good/ exotic food in a chill vibe and nice cocktails or Sake I can highly recommend this place!!

the upstairs speak easy has incredible vibes - order the yuzu sake as a starter, you won’t regret it. the frinkandel and the chicken burger are my go to. a total must if you’re in the area and looking for premium fast food.

Very tasty burgers, good cocktails and friendly staff!
On the down side, the (homemade) ketchup was tasty but too salty, and €5 got me 3 small hash browns, which was disappointing.
I'll still come back, but make some different choices

I’ve never had a burger like this before, simple yet effective. The bread was so nice with the burger. The venue had a relaxed vibe, styled like a Japanese takeaway. We walked in and got a table easily. Ordering through the machine was also quick and easy

Top and different Burger Bar! You can choose to sit in the basement - with solid minimal Techno in the style if a Japanese Subway station or upstairs more cozy. Food is amazing and the whole venue is worth a visit!
