This little hidden gem was perfect for our stay in Canmore! The location is central downtown Canmore but was quiet and convenient. Chris and Tanya were excellent host and quick to respond. Their location was the cutest, cozy mountain cabin vibe and we would happily stay here again! The suite was beautiful, clean and looks even better than the photos. I would recommend this place to anyone!

We could not have asked for a better place to stay while in Canmore. This was our second time to the Rockies and it was right down the street from our favorite Wood-Fired flatbread pizza restaurant. The bed was super comfortable. My boyfriend who has problems sleeping slept like a baby. Every night we were there. The spa size bathtub was the crown Jewel after a long day of hiking and sore muscles even supplied with Epsom salt. The kitchen downstairs was very modern and beautiful and the high-end coffee machine was world class!

Fantastic place to stay in the heart of Canmore! Private room and bathroom, with shared downstairs kitchen and living area- though we never really saw any other guests. Hosts had so many helpful amenities available like guidebook with hiking and eating recommendations, bear spray, bikes to rent, board games, on and on. Beautiful lodge decor and UNBEATABLE location. We will return!

Beautiful property! My mom loved the kitchen. So aesthetically pleasing. Highly recommended! Right in Canmore downtown. Loved the complimentary biking experience!! Very walkable.

Our recent stay at Paintbox Lodge was unfortunately quite disappointing. Having stayed here in the past, we have to say that this has truly become an Airbnb experience and is no longer the luxury boutique hotel that is advertised. Contactless check ins may be a great option, assuming everything runs smoothly; however, this was not our experience. When we arrived to check in, we found that our reserved room had mistakenly been given to another guest who arrived earlier (but neither the guest or staff were on-site when we arrived). A phone call to hotel staff suggested that we would have to wait up to 40 minutes for property management to arrive to assist us, a timeline that would have resulted in us being late for a dinner reservation celebrating our anniversary. Fortunately, the other guests arrived prior to management and we were able to sort out the mistake and have them move their belongings to their room. However, it was frustrating that this was something that we had to deal with ourselves as there were no on-site staff to assist. The list of inconveniences grows from there, including having the keypad on the main door not working properly (we would guess that a battery needs to be changed), being without a parking pass for half of our stay, having to clean out the coffee grounds and refill the water reservoir on the coffee machine in order to have a cup of coffee, and having one clean spoon available in the coffee area to use for the entire weekend. Despite staff coming on-site during our stay, the coffee machine wasn’t cleaned and utensils weren’t restocked for the entire weekend. We have stayed at other hotels in the Bow Valley over the past year, and we must admit, the Paintbox Lodge has significantly fewer amenities than we’ve experienced elsewhere, despite charging far more. Needless to say, this will be our last visit to the Lodge and we certainly won’t be recommending it to others. Quite disappointing since our earlier visit, 10 years ago, had been a highlight for us. We certainly hope that the owners reconsider the current business model! We love the rooms and location but the service was non-existent.

The Paintbox Lodge is no longer what it was and I strong suggest not even bothering. Overpriced and zero amenities are now provided. It's basically operating like a poorly run AirBNB. Main door lock needs a battery as it wasn't working, no one on site, mold on the grout in the shower, the fancy Miele coffee machine is not being maintained and was left to guests to figure out how to empty it and get it working, zero communication about what to do with used mugs, and the kicker, they put another couple in our room (who were mortified that they had been put in the wrong room)! We called the number supplied and the management company did not seem to understand the issue and said someone would be there in 40 minutes. Canmore is not that big and to have that as a response when there is clearly a significant issue is just unacceptable and unprofessional. There are only 5 rooms and only two couples staying so it is a bit beyond belief they couldn't even get that right. Ultimately it was, again, left to the guests to sort out. ||Despite the ambience of the Lodge (and we got married here a decade ago), I can't recommend this place at all for what they're charging. It's a complete shame to see what was a lovely boutique lodge get destroyed in the name of profit. Avoid.

Like a few other reviews, I was just sent an email saying the room was double booked for a day. I called disappointed but asked to please keep my booking for the available days. Then I received an email confirming my entire reservation was cancelled. They responded to past reviews saying they are working on improving but it’s still happening, and it’s horrible customer service. Shame because the rooms look nice. I was excited to stay there and now I’m forced to buy a last minute hotel on a busy weekend.

Beautiful lodge, the rooms are very rustic and cozy, comfy beds. We had high expectations for this stay from the reviews friends had given us years prior (under previous ownership). We booked in because we saw the prices were tripling in the coming months, the clerk stated it was new ownership recently and that breakfast was no longer included- disappointing. First, I couldn’t book a one night stay online, so I had to call in. Check in should have been easy, however, we had to call when we arrived anyway because we never received the check-in email with the code, we asked if we could do do early check-in because we had a toddler and they kept telling us “maybe, there’s a possibility, call back the morning of check in”, and when we called, they still said they might be able to and that they would text us and tell us. When we got the text they called me the wrong name(even though they have our booking info) and just said “we typically do not accommodate early check-in”. It was frustrating that they kept giving us hope we could check in early, but then just sent that message… when we arrived there was little direction to where things were (coffee, how to use the coffee machine, where were extra supplies, games, where to put dirty dishes, whether we could use the kitchen space to cook). We wandered around the lodge opening cupboards until our questions were answered. Our room was beautiful, but our soap dispenser was empty, we had a quarter roll of toilet paper with no refills (I had to take the toilet paper from the common area bathroom to put in our bathroom). The electrical wires looked a bit sketchy for the fridge and lamps, just hanging off the wall, multiple plugs in one outlet, there were cobwebs on the fireplace- looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time, and the extra throw blanket had a giant pink stain on it- marker or makeup??|I would have loved this place, but all the little things kept adding up that made it all so frustrating and not as enjoyable. Also, Seeing that the prices are tripling in the coming months…. I would say this place is not worth as much as they’re going to charge. |It’s a good location, great local dining close by and nice walking paths, views of the mountains and surrounded by nice trees and beautiful artwork in the lodge.

Yelp
Paintbox Lodge took the deposit, then cancelled the reservation after 4 weeks. The claim was that they overbooked? What computer booking program do you have that it takes 4 weeks to figure out which rooms are booked? It really messed up our group for an August weekend. Now I've read elsewhere that others had the same occurrence. Breakfast is no longer part of their offering either. Communication from Paintbox was non existent.

Yelp
We have such a great time at the Paintbox Lodge we returned again to do a cooking class and stay at the Lodge. It feels more like staying in a large cozy house then a hotel. It is very clean and relaxing. The guests above us were noisy at night and early in the morning so if this bothers you I would recommend staying upstairs where most of the rooms are. The breakfast buffet was very fresh, healthy and amazing. Will definitely be returning here again and again.

Yelp
My husband & I had the pleasure of staying 3 nights at this little gem in downtown Canmore, which is set-off any road so it is super quiet. Upon arriving, we were fortunate enough to be welcomed by the lovely Sara Renner and her gracious husband, Thomas Grandi. Chocolates from a local business, Le Chocolatier, were an unexpected surprise waiting in our room - the salted caramel in milk chocolate was so good I was prompted to find the little shop up on Benchlands Trail to buy some more. We stayed in the Cabin Suite, which is a quiet, spacious and comfortable 2-bedroom suite on the main floor with a firm king bed and choice of synthetic or down pillows. There is also a separate bedroom with a double/single bunk, which would be perfect for kids or another family staying with you, as long as you're close because the king bed is open to the living space. There is one large bathroom and I enjoyed the separate shower's pebble floor and the soaker tub. The self-serve breakfast is plentiful with daily fresh baked bread and muffins, an egg frittata, super easy orange juicer, yogurt, in-house made granola, and fruit. Then there is the Miele coffee machine! Your choice of coffee (lungo, cappuccino, espresso, latte, etc.) at the push of a button - I made a mocha each morning with 2 spoonfuls of hot chocolate mix and a press of the double-shot macchiato button...delicious! The machine is available for use at any time. The staff are wonderful. Jonathan at the front desk is helpful with any need you may have in the kitchen or otherwise. Canmore is his hometown, so he is knowledgeable about the area, hiking trails, back country skiing, etc. Chef Shannon whipped-up the delicious breakfast each morning and is a great conversationalist with a warm personality and wonderful sense of humour. If you're an early riser like me, it's great to be able to make yourself a good cup of coffee and have a visit in the kitchen. All in all, our stay at the Paintbox Lodge was terrific. I highly recommend staying here and am looking forward to the time we return.

Yelp
Paintbox Lodge is an ideal place to stay if you want some extra TLC in Canmore. From here, you can walk anywhere downtown and the accommodations are superb. You can serve yourself coffee, cappuccino, espresso, or tea anytime from a high-end machine in the dining room, where a home cooked breakfast is also served. It is homey and rustic and high-end, all at once. Erin, who communicated with us beforehand (recommending places for dinner), was a talented cook and amiable host. We would go back if we could, and recommend this place to everyone.

Yelp
I was recently married in this beautiful spot and could not be told enough how incredible it was by all of my guests. We were able to sleep 18 of the 30 guests on site with a delicious (fresh baked scones and a hand orange juice squeezer) breakfast in the morning. I have to say that one of my favorite aspects about this place was that they give you your privacy by leaving for the day. Beautiful interior, a kitchen to die for and such friendly and helpful staff made my wedding ridiculously easy for myself and my guests. There is not enough great things I could say about this place. Awesome bathrooms, products, layout.. it was all perfect for our day. What made if even better was that the whole thing was part of a offseason wedding package so I got the whole thing for half.. I would even say a third what I would have paid anywhere else for half as much stuff. With onsite chef i would need to open a new window to express how great the food was! Well priced, excellent selection and much more of it than I would have expected. They were also able to include the extras that I wanted for a very reasonable service charge, such as providing my own alcohol and snacks. Had great experiances with the owners and If you are looking for something unique, beautiful and all encompassing, consider this place!
