Rita’s Law opens in Five Points this spring | Eater Denver

"Located inside the renovated Melbourne Hostel building at 22nd and Welton in Five Points, this new neighborhood bar owned by Denver native Rita Price will emphasize repurposed and reused materials, custom-designed furniture, and a patio. The name is inspired by Yhprum’s Law—the optimistic cousin of Murphy’s Law—reflecting Price’s aim that “everything that can go right will go right,” and she envisions a place where a 21-year-old can sit next to an 85-year-old and strike up a conversation. Sprung Construction incorporated historic elements such as a custom-built bar using wood paneling from the Zang Mansion and a bar top made from trailer truck beds by McPhee McGinnity Lumber Co.; the back bar uses staves from Breckenridge Distillery barrels for whiskey barrel–inspired shelves, and the space also features refurbished doors from Epworth Church, light fixtures from the NATIV hotel, and a patio fence made of vintage billboard panels. To obtain a tavern license despite being “just a little too close to Ebert Elementary School,” Price converted an old school bus into a fully functioning kitchen.
