I visited Pala Casino Spa Resort as part of a wedding after-party, and I, along with a large portion of our group, was also staying at the resort. The wedding itself was not held at the resort — we came afterward to gamble, have dinner, and enjoy what should have been a relaxed and fun night.
While we were sitting in one of the restaurants eating dinner, and without ordering any alcohol at all, a restaurant manager named Aaron approached our table and stated that we would not be provided any more alcohol for the remainder of the night. This was confusing and inappropriate, as no alcohol had been ordered by our party.
From that moment on, the situation escalated unnecessarily. Members of our group — including the groom — were repeatedly confronted without cause. We asked multiple times to speak with a manager to resolve the situation, and were denied the opportunity to do so.
For the remainder of the night, casino security followed our group throughout the property, which felt harassing and excessive given that we had done nothing wrong. At one point, the groom’s brother legally purchased a beer at a casino bar. After he had already paid for it, security confiscated the beer, did not issue a refund, and offered no apology or explanation.
Even our server acknowledged that the situation was not okay and apologized to us multiple times for the behavior of restaurant management. A photo is provided of one of the team member involved in this interaction. The individual we dealt with was visibly irate, confrontational, and highly unprofessional, and made no attempt to de-escalate or treat guests with basic respect.
Our entire wedding group — including overnight guests of the resort — was made to feel unwelcome and targeted on what should have been an enjoyable evening. We were there to dine, gamble, stay on property, and spend money, yet it was made very clear that our business was not wanted.
Based on this experience, I would not recommend this resort or its restaurants for group outings, celebrations, or after-event gatherings. Guest experience, professionalism, and respectful treatment were severely lacking.
