"Logan Square: Paladar Cuban Restaurant and Rum Bar, a nine-year-old restaurant, won’t reopen due to fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic. Owner Jose Gonzalez shut down the restaurant at the end of October as the pandemic’s second wave hit Chicago and now lacks the resources to reopen. “We tried to survive but COVID and regulations got the best of us,” he writes in a Facebook post." - Naomi Waxman

Congratulations! Had a wonderful time. Fun atmosphere. Great server. Good food. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Stopped for lunch take out here after a baby shower nearby. We ordered ropa vieja, a Cuban sandwich, and a steak sandwich. Unfortunately, we also ordered chicken fried rice that didn't make it into our bag. They were cool though, and since we didn't notice until we got home, they gave us a credit in our card right away! The cuban was delicious, even though I wasn't too impressed with the bread that just seemed like hotdog bun than a grilled French bread I expected from the online photos. The ropa was also delicious, though a little tough to chew even though I assume it has simmered for hours. Steak sandwich was also a hit. The French fries left something to be desired (admittedly they were reheated). Would definitely go back!

Yelp
I was wanting something other than Mexican food, but still Latin flavors. I was looking at menus from Irazu (Costa Rican) and 90 Miles (Cuban), which then got me to Sazon Cubano. There were a few items that sounded really good- Chicken Jibarito was my favorite, though a little oily. I preferred the chicken and chorizo over the beef Empanadas. The dipping sauces paired well, but I like them with the chimichurri sauce. The Tostones had a great crispy exterior and soft chew on the inside. I tried a bite of the steak and thought it was a tad tough, no seasoning, but I really liked the Congri rice. Good flavors and affordable pricing!

Yelp
After wanting to branch out from the classic 90 Miles I tried Sazon Cubano and was not disappointed! The prices are extremely reasonable for high quality food. We tried the empanadas, croquetas, rice, beans, maduras, and a steak. All dishes were fresh and tasty. The mojito was easily one of the best I've had in the Chicago area. I'll come back for this alone! The service was extremely friendly although a tad slow. It wasn't so much as the waitstaff themselves, they were always checking in, but rather the time to get food out of the kitchen.

Yelp
Amazing! Don't sleep on this neighborhood gem. Empanadas are incredible. Drinks are very reasonably priced. Ambiance. Service. All great. And every meal I've had has been delicious. Absolutely love Sazon

Yelp
OMG for a long time i have been enjoying cuban restaurants like 90 miles in Chicago , however i an happy to report that I have found a cuban restaurant Sazon Cubano which buts 90 miles to shame in terms of flavor and freshness. I have been there 3 times already and I have not been disappointed. The food is so fresh and whoever is the cook there , I take my hat off to you . If anyone is interested in having delicious Cuban food please give this restaurant a try . FYI very reasonable prices if your interested .

Yelp
Food was flavorless and when the food did have taste it was salt. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who likes actual Cuban food.

Yelp
This place definitely has potential and I'll absolutely been trying it again - we took this order for dine out but they do have a great outdoor space. The cubano was amazing and the highlight of the meal was the app tostones lechonsita . The only complete was the lechon asada - the pork was a bit dry and underwhelming

Yelp
Great food and service, atmosphere I definitely recommend this place..So delicious...

Yelp
Had a great experience at Sazon Cubano! We sat in the back bar area and love the vibe back there. Food was great, drinks were great, service was great! Would definitely recommend and will be going back! Food: We did not have a single bite of food that we didn't like! The pork tamale with the sauces that came with it was delicious and only $4 for each one. Could mix and match as many as you want with pork, chicken, or no meat. The Milanesa de Pollo was basically a chicken parm with ham on top and it was to die for!!! The Enchilado de Camaron was just the right amount of spicy and was also delicious. Recommend adding rice as one of the sides as it doesn't come with it unless you ask specifically. Drinks: The classic mojito was amazing! The perfect ratio and not too sweet. One negative I will say is that there was no drink section on the menu besides soda, so that was a little confusing because they have a full bar and it was hard to see prices/options. But that's a very minor thing :)

Yelp
Wandered in on a Saturday night for dinner and was seated immediately for a table of 3 - we sat inside but the outside patio was also available! Our waitress was incredibly attentive and recommended a few of her favorite options when we asked as well. Mojitos were incredibly refreshing for a hot summer day and we had the plantain chips as an appetizer. They have a nice crunch and the dip they come with is great. I had the pulled pork sandwich with maduros and highly recommend both - the guava barbecue sauce on the pulled pork was such a good mix of sweet and tangy and the maduros were sweet and soft but not mushy. Overall great experience and will visit again!

Yelp
Wow- the new owners really made this place look great. The decor was really nice and there is outdoor seating as well. The food was great too!

Yelp
We were out doing errands and decided to give this place a shot. We had been here when it was Paladar and hoped it was just as good. We came in on a weeknight, so we weren't surprised it was fairly empty. The front part of the place doesn't feel as cozy as the back where the bar is. I ordered a shrimp jibarito and maduros and my husband the pork chunks. My only complaint with my meal was that they left the shrimp tails on. I ended up taking my sandwich apart to remove them. My husband really enjoyed his meal and commented on the tenderness of the meat. His only critique was the name, he thought translated pork chunks doesn't sound the most appetizing. Service was mostly attentive. Towards the end of our meal, the attentiveness fell off a bit. Overall, we'd order or stop in again.

Yelp
I have ordered carry out from sazón's- fullerton location several times, and my Argentinian grandmother loves it so of course I trust her judgement and checked out Sazón 2.0. I was thoroughly impressed. Clean, fun, spacious!! You can tell a lot of thought and energy went into the design, ambiance and experience. Our server/ bartender was incredibly nice. Drinks were tasty, and the food was fresh. We ordered jibarito sandwiches, maduros, a spicy Paloma and a mojito. Will definitely be making this one of our go-to date spots or dinner nights with friends. Love x 100!

Ricky M.

Yelp
The chicken jibarito is amazing. The rice was well cooked with veggies in it too. Alittle over priced but the quality is All there. Great place will definitely be back soon.

Yelp
ME and my friendS went for an early dinner on Friday before heading to a play. It was kinda empty in the front area and there was only one waitress serving everybody. But then it took nearly 2 hours for our food to arrive. And to top it off, my friend's food had cilantro even though she specifically asked for it without cilantro. I had to go back to the kitchen a few times to ask for more drinks. The music was blasting so loud that we couldn't even hear each other properly. And guess what? We got late to the play because of all this. Plus, the food wasn't that amazing either.

Nancy M.

Yelp
Went on Saturday night. We had steak jibarito with rice and shrimp in sauce with Congrie and sweet bananas. Dirty Martini and Gin and tonic. Bartender may not be well versed on how to make these drinks. Seems patrons order the tropical drinks mire often.. Both our drinks tasted fine just mentioning the noticeable difference in the look of the drinks. The food was authentic well made Cuban and Puerto Rican (jibarito). Short on wait staff so be patient the food is worth it. The wait staff doing the best they can. Glad we tried this restaurant. Will return.

Yelp
Delicious food and friendly service. The oxtail stew and the pork chunks are incredible. The Tamal with pork appetizer is so good I recommend they make it into an entree. The music is awesome. I had a great experience and I will definitely be back.

Lilly L.

Yelp
I think there are some kinks that have to be worked out but this place has promise! Great food, but service could be improved (we were treated fine but the diners outdoor kept having to come in to ask for things). The door slams really loud and the music is cranked to a decibel that require you to keep having to repeat your order to the staff. The toast app while usable, is discouraged by the wait staff. The sangrias are tasty, the bread rolls soft and adorable, and the camarones Al ajillo was good (got the yellow rice...yum!), the plantains cooked well (though they could use a bit more salt), and my BFs pulled pork sandwich was moist and flavorful. We will definitely be coming back...especially for the live music on sundays.

Yelp
A great new addition to this part of Chicago. Authentic, delicious Cuban food. I'd order their ropa vieja (braised beef in a tangy sauce) again any time. Prices are decent, portion size is great. Decor is different in the two dining rooms, and I like them both. There was live music, a talented duo who played multiple instruments. Service was a little slow, as our waitress seemed a little overwhelmed, but she was friendly and accommodating. The menu has many offerings. I'm sure we will go back.

Sunny P.

Yelp
The food was excellent! We tried a steak dish and a ropa vieja sandwich!! Mouth-watering taste. Chef Mary was outstanding, and she is doing great things over there. Support this incredible place.

Yelp
Mi primera vez aquí y todo estaba BIEN RICOOOO!!!! My first time and everything was very good!

Yelp
Sazon Cubano 2.0 truly exceeded our expectations. The Tostones Lechonsita, Calamar Frito, and Empanadas were all incredibly delicious and bursting with flavor . The staff was friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming atmosphere to my family. The live music was excellent and had us dancing, adding to the vibrant ambiance and making it a perfect evening. We enjoied it a lot for an authentic Cuban culinary experience and a fantastic time!

Zailen C.

Yelp
Un restaurant cubano super recomendado llevo 7 años en Chicago y nunca me había sentido tan en casa como aquí , si eres cubano ven el Dj maravilloso super amable y el trato impecable . Mi cuba en un pequeño espacio

Yelp
Really wanted to love this place. They have a great outdoor space. The inside looks great. However, the service was woefully inattentive - had to walk inside several times (we were sitting outside) in order to get our servers attention. And it was not busy - only two or three tables. And one of the times it was to send back an entree that was tepid at best. The waitress told me it was just off the grill. Nope, it was cold. Congri, a favorite was really dry. Out of two different empanadas. Wasn't sure if they had a pitcher of sangria available (they did). Maybe it was an off night.

Greg W.

Yelp
My wife and I were looking for something different. This is going to be our new favorite. We started with a pitcher of Margeritas, which was very inexpensive compared to other places. We had the trio empanada appetizer which was delicious! We both had the oxtail dinner...OFF THE EFFIN CHART ! So tender and full of flavor..yummy.Our server,Marcella was impeccable!!!!! Prices are very reasonable...Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Great food, Nice people would go again. Thank you. I'm now adding more words cause yelp wants a long review.

Steve E.

Yelp
We arrived 10 min early for our reservation. Because we were a larger group, they didn't want to seat us at all. The owners were more interested in singing and performing than serving their customers. It took 1 hour to get a pitcher of margaritas. 2 hours to get food. Some of us didn't get food at all until we went into the kitchen to ask specifically for them to please make it. Everyone at the restaurant was complaining about their food and service. It was a horrible experience. When we got the check, we were forced to pay a 20% gratuity. 0/10. The owners care about themselves and mediocre singing performances. They don't care about you as the customer. Don't go here.

Kelsey E.

Yelp
This place is cute, has a nice patio and could have potential, but is completely mismanaged. Despite having a reservation, they were completely unprepared for our party. We waited 20 minutes before being sat. From the time we arrived, we waited over an hour and a half for our food, some of which was cold upon arrival. Two meals were forgotten, and since no one was checking on us, we had to go to the kitchen ourselves to make sure everyone in our party got their meal. The automatic 20% gratuity added insult to injury. Overall a very poor experience.

Sophia C.

Yelp
We were seated on the patio. We waited 35 minutes without being recognized by any of the staff members. I was curious to see how long it would take for staff to notice we weren't being served. But yet two people next to us were served quickly. About 45 minutes in, we asked if we could get some service. Some girl nodded and took off never saw her again. I overheard staff tell other tables that the kitchen messed up their orders and the people just left. One hour later we decided to get up and go to chefs special. Nobody came to our table. Didn't even have water at our table. There was a man soliciting and trying to steal peoples purses and phones. Unbelievable, how do you not address that issue. I looked at the staff and they let that happen. Owners should take a look at their cameras (if they actually work) and see how uncomfortable their customers were. Owners should be embarrassed of this establishment. Do not come here.
