Riad Palais Blanc | Best places to stay in Marrakech

"As the name might suggest, Palais Blanc’s stark white interiors provide a distinct contrast to the colourful and bustling souks outside this former manor house. Mixing Moroccan design with Italian touches, the size and scale of the palace mean this feels more like a traditional hotel than an intimate riad. A small patio at the entrance to each room offers a private space to sit and enjoy the birdsong rising up from the courtyard, while the sizeable pool and terrace offer fantastic lounging potential after a morning in the souks. The riad’s location at the northern end of the medina means it’s ideally placed for exploring the wide boulevards and boutiques of the Ville Nouvelle, as well as the city’s major historic sights, including the Ben Medersa mosque and the Koutoubia. We absolutely loved our stay. It’s a hidden gem in the heart of the old medina. The entrance is rather unassuming off the street but once you find the bell you enter a little oasis of peace and serenity.||All the staff were exceptional and our room was beautiful with a private balcony over looking the pool.||Breakfast is served to you and was excellent with offer of more of anything and lots of choice. ||We felt like the only guests and pretty much were as it’s quiet in the heat of July/August. ||It’s easy to get around with taxis constantly buzzing past or short walk (be brave) to some great restaurants and roof top bar/restaurants||Ahmed was super helpful and made great recommendations. ||Highly recommend.

You will find this Riad off a very busy road, down a semi dirt track and once you have rung the bell to be welcomed in you find an oasis of tranquillity! everywhere is busy in Marrakesh so to retreat to something so peaceful was perfect for us. The pool area for a Riad is great, you can actually swim in it and there are plenty sun loungers that are comfy around to chose from in a very sunny courtyard area pretty in design with some fruit and olive trees. By far the best though was the staff, always happy to help and with a smile really very lovely and Ahmed helped beyond with taxi transfers and excursions. A wonderful relaxing stay in the middle of a very chaotic, fun and vibrant city.

It was a true paradise. I stayed there 3 nights and everything was beyond the perfect. I also got a massage which was really calming. You can also enjoy the pool which I could not have a chance to dive in. I would like to thank again to Ahmed. He is very polite and knows everything about museums and restaurants. He made my stay smooth. Enjoy your time here!

5/5 – An absolutely lovely oasis in the heart of the Medina! The pool area was stunning, the room was beautiful, and the overall vibe was just magical. Breakfast was elegantly served, and enjoying it on the terrace in the morning sun truly topped off the experience. The only (minor) downside was the staff calling out to each other throughout the day – nothing negative as such, just part of normal communication in Arabic, I assume – but since the pool area is right in the center of the riad, you couldn’t really miss it. Still, I would absolutely come back.

Palais Riad Blanc offers a welcome oasis of calm amidst the vibrant chaos of Marrakesh. The location is absolutely fantastic, allowing you to step straight into the heart of the city. Ahmed at the front desk was a real highlight – consistently fantastic, courteous, respectful, and always helpful. The complimentary mint tea was a lovely and much-appreciated touch, and all the staff we encountered were friendly. The roof terrace is a beautiful sun trap, filled with birdsong, making you forget you're in the middle of the city. The basic spa was also a welcome addition. Our room, (we think room 18, it was a week ago now), was generally good and lovely. However, it might be the loudest in the riad. Unfortunately, the obscured windows, designed to hide the view of the adjacent alleyway, meant we were disturbed by locals mending motorbikes in the early hours (4/5 am), which impacted our sleep. For a future stay, we would definitely opt for a poolside room. We also noted that mattress protectors would be beneficial as there were some unpleasant stains on the bed; thankfully, extra bottom sheets were available. The bathroom was stylish, but we did experience a leak from the ceiling which was not ideal. Despite these room-specific issues, the riad's overall charm, excellent location, and fantastic service, particularly from Ahmed, make it a worthwhile stay. With a few improvements to the rooms, this riad could be truly exceptional.

I wish there was a way to give more than 5 stars! My stay here was wonderful and I will definitely stay here if I visit Marrakesh again. First, Mr. Ahmed was a wonderful host, as were all the other staff. My trip to Morocco got off to a terrible start with multiple delayed flights, missed connection, LOST LUGGAGE... ultimately arriving in Marrakesh near midnight. Mr. Ahmed kept in contact with me and had a driver pick me up from the airport. The next day, he made phone calls for me to track down and retrieve my luggage! This is service! Going way above and beyond, and turning what would have been a nightmare of a trip to a wonderful vacation. The riad itself is beautiful! Talk about Instagram worthy! Heated pool. Wonderful breakfast. Having the rooms face into the courtyard, you are completely isolated from the noise of the city. Location is excellent. I was a 15-20 min walk from all the stuff I wanted to see. There is an ATM across the street, a little convenience store around the corner, and a bunch of restaurants less than a 5 min walk away. I did not try the spa here since they didn't have any male masseurs. But Mr. Ahmed recommended a hammam where I got an amazing scrub and massage. Overall, I cannot recommend this place highly enough!

Our experience at the riad was good - I've given a 4 star overall due to the lovely staff and the list of pro's below, but regarding the property itself, room and location it would have been a 3/5. I have shared the below in hopes that the management / owner will implement the recommendations as the riad has a lot of potential. Pro's - Lovely, helpful and attentive staff - Good breakfast and juices - Heated pool and sunbeds were brilliant - Our deluxe room had a private outdoor lounge area which we loved - Close to the medina, souks and sights Con's - We paid for a deluxe room but it was quite small, we only had a double bed, and there was no sofa/it was much smaller than the pictures online. I'd recommend updating the pictures to manage expectations. - I can see that it was once a beautiful riad but like other guests I could see serious wear and tear. The property would benefit from rennovation as most of the white tiles have deteriorated, and walls are damaged (and I'm not referring to the style of paint). - Our shower flooded our bathroom floor every day due to the lack of a shower door seal/construction of the area. I'd strongly recommend identifying a way to fix this as I can see this bothered other guests as well as us. - The location was not to our preference. The area felt rough, and the entrance via the alleyway was not ideal. This perhaps could be improved through better signage and making the alleyway more appealling.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel during my first visit to Morocco. From the moment I arrived, I felt incredibly welcomed. The manager ensured that I was picked up from the airport and brought to the hotel safely, which was a thoughtful touch. Upon arrival, I was greeted with delicious mint tea and snacks, making me feel right at home. To my surprise, the manager also upgraded my room, which was a lovely gesture. Throughout my stay, the staff were incredibly kind and attentive. The breakfast buffet was fantastic, with fresh, delicious options every morning. The atmosphere of the hotel was serene and relaxing, and everything was kept spotlessly clean. Each day when I returned, I found fresh towels and a perfectly tidy room. The hotel is in a peaceful, quiet area, but just outside you’re in the heart of the beautiful old medina, surrounded by great restaurants and plenty to explore. They also provide spa and massage services and the Beddings were very comfortable to sleep in every night. There’s honestly not a single bad thing I can say about this hotel. I will definitely be coming back again!
