You Should Stay at a Hotel in Venice

"If ever there were a city that needed a bit of the old Philippe Starck treatment it was Venice. With Palazzina Grassi, Starck is at full strength: masks on the bedside lamps, comically exaggerated chandeliers, mirrors on every surface. It’s a classic Venetian palazzo filtered through the mind of a dedicated anti-classicist, and the result was always going to be memorable." - Mark Fedeli

"In this contemporary pied-à-terre on the Grand Canal in San Marco, get a taste of living like a local. Well, a local with a waterfront address and the means to hire Philippe Starck as interior designer. The historic three-story house is a classic 16th-century palazzo with arched windows and Juliette balconettes, but the interior design is entirely modern. Original elements such as restored marble columns and those timeless views remain, but with a 21st-century twist. The rooms are a balance of crisp whites and metal accents. The beds, dressed in white linens, have oversized mirrors as headboards, and the custom nightstand lamps have a simple black mask design, a nod to the famous Carnevale. Pop down to the bar for a pre-dinner cocktail at the tastefully styled Palazzina the Restaurant, an open-kitchen format where the chef encourages interaction from diners."

The Palazzina Grassi is a chic hotel, in a great location with the most helpful and welcoming staff. We had a fabulous stay. We had a beautiful room with a very pleasant terrace. The hotel common areas are comfortable and attractive. The restaurant is exceptional. Great breakfast. We did the market experience with the chef and had a memorable experience and the meal of a lifetime, I highly recommend doing it. So glad we choose the Grassi and hope we get to stay there again.

We had a great stay. The staff here are the best. 10 out of 10 on routine requests and 11 out of 10 on extraordinary requests. Arranged last minute seamless transfers and arrival when our train terminated at an earlier station than the expected one. Helped find a dock last minute to accommodate my family's physical needs getting into a booked Gondola. Went out of their way to ensure we had an experience we will remember the rest of our lives.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. It is stunning and in a perfect location. It is tucked back in a quiet quaint area that is only 5-10 minute walk anywhere you want to go in the city. The staff! To say they went above and beyond to make our trip as enjoyable as possible is an understatement. They arranged for a private aperitivo on the pier overlooking the grand canal that was magical. On our last day we overslept and nearly missed our water taxi to the train station. They were so incredibly kind and compassionate about the situation and helped us get on our way as to not miss our train. 10/10, book this hotel, you will not be sorry.

Service was great, breakfast is delicious and included, and very generous. Room decor is very cool and there is always a treat every night (chocolate, a rose, biscuits etc) but rooms have windows covered by thick curtains and mirrors. It’s difficult to get any light in as the rooms faced walls (as often is the case in Venice) but it’s possible to open them to get some air in.

We had a wonderful stay! The staff took excellent care of us—everyone was friendly and attentive. A special thanks to the lovely lady who looked after us during breakfast; she was truly exceptional and made our mornings extra special.

Six star hotel! Starck design beautiful but the best part is the staff go out of their way to ensure guests have a great experience. A trip my family will remember for the rest of our lives.

We had a very good experience at Hotel Palazzina Grassi. The location is excellent, and the unique, sophisticated design by Philippe Starck adds a special touch to the atmosphere. The service was truly amazing — attentive, discreet, and professional — and the breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented.||The only detail that could be improved, in my opinion, is the bedding: the mattress was too soft for my taste, and the bed frame wasn’t very stable, making noise with every movement. That said, overall, it was a very enjoyable and memorable stay.

My stay at this incredible hotel in Venice was nothing short of magical. From the moment I arrived, I was treated like a princess — the service was beyond anything I could have imagined. Every member of the staff was warm, kind, professional, and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and cared for. The room was stunning, beautifully designed, and offered a breathtaking view that made every moment feel special. The location couldn’t be better — right in the heart of the city, making it so easy to explore and enjoy all that Venice has to offer. As someone with food intolerances, I’m used to having limited options, but the team here completely exceeded my expectations. Both breakfast and lunch were absolutely delicious, with so many gluten-free and dairy-free options that were full of flavor and beautifully prepared. I will definitely be coming back the next time I visit Venice and will be recommending this beautiful hotel to all of my friends and family. Truly a five-star experience in every way!
