Detroit’s Best Detroit-Style Pizza | Eater Detroit

"This carryout square pizza spot in Royal Oak was co-founded by the late World Champion pizza maker and Detroit Style Pizza Company operator Shawn Randazzo, who passed away in 2020 after a battle with cancer. Some say Randazzo helped spark the current Detroit-style pizza craze at U.S. restaurants by presenting the style on a national stage. The menu features a blend of traditional brick cheese and mozzarella with dollops of red sauce on top and fresh grated Parmesan. Toppings range from spicy peppers and sausage to chicken carbonara pizza, complete with bacon and alfredo sauce. A large pizza here comes in the form of two small pizzas for a total of eight crispy corners." - Serena Maria Daniels

Shawn Randazzo, Who Helped Popularize Detroit-Style Pizza in the U.S., Has Died | Eater Detroit

"Opened in 2019 in Royal Oak, this pizzeria was one of the chef’s later projects and is run by his cousins and business partners, who publicly shared news of his cancer diagnosis. The location is tied closely to his family and professional network and became a focal point for local support and fundraising after his illness." - Brenna Houck

Google
Really good carry out only for Detroit Style Pizza. My online order had a 1.5 hour wait time, they are always super busy! Pizza was fresh and wasn’t super greasy like Jets. They also serve really good gelato.

These guys get it. Always fantastic pizza and great staff. Yes, they’re busy…for a reason. Plan ahead and enjoy top tier Detroit style pizza.

For me, this is the best pizza I’ve ever had in metro Detroit. I love bold flavors and this Hot Honey Ricotta-Roni pizza gave me the ultimate bite of sweet, spicy, and savory. It’s the hot honey drizzle, the dollops of pizza sauce, the ricotta cheese flowers, everything about this pizza is amazing. I will definitely come back just for this.

We stopped in and got two pizzas. Very nice Detroit style pizza. Great caramelized crust, very soft and buttery. Great flavors on both pies.

This is the best Detroit style pizza I’ve ever had. Wow. You will not be disappointed. I got the chicken parm pizza and just a classic cheese pizza. The cheese pizza was fantastic. They were so kind over the phone as well - made the ordering process so enjoyable. I can’t wait to come back and recommend it to everyone I know. They only offer take out but they are so kind and nice - very excellent customer service.

The hype is real. Not overrated. Best Detroit style in Michigan! On the pricier side but it’s very good and tasty. Everything is seasoned well and fresh in taste. Overall: 8.5/10

Just moved to the area and decided to try Palazzo. Disclaimer I’m not a Detroit native so I can’t claim to be a connoisseur but this pizza is fantastic. We got the margarita and cheese bread. Both were so good and the size of ranch with the cheese bread was A+. If you get a large it’s actually two of the smalls so you get more of the perfectly crispy corners. This will absolutely be a regular for us when we’re craving pizza.

Tried them for the first time yesterday. True Detroit style deep dish with the toppings under the cheese and sauce on top. Crispy crust, sauce was delicious. Will definitely be trying some of their other speciality pizzas. We got a classic cheese/ w half pepperoni, and their “sweet tropical heat” specialty. UNREAL. Cup/char pepperonis, pineapple, jalapeños, mikes hot honey drizzle…..Definitely recommend. The guys were super nice, chatted for a quick minute during pickup. Go support this local business UPDATE. Just got the pesto chicken pizza and the pistachio gelato. Put 5 more stars on the review. I took one bite of the slice and was immediately in. The gelato is creamy, true pistachio taste not fake or cherry like a lot of places. Only downside to this place is it’s not closer to my house
