Detroit’s Best Detroit-Style Pizza | Eater Detroit

"This carryout square pizza spot in Royal Oak was co-founded by the late World Champion pizza maker and Detroit Style Pizza Company operator Shawn Randazzo, who passed away in 2020 after a battle with cancer. Some say Randazzo helped spark the current Detroit-style pizza craze at U.S. restaurants by presenting the style on a national stage. The menu features a blend of traditional brick cheese and mozzarella with dollops of red sauce on top and fresh grated Parmesan. Toppings range from spicy peppers and sausage to chicken carbonara pizza, complete with bacon and alfredo sauce. A large pizza here comes in the form of two small pizzas for a total of eight crispy corners." - Serena Maria Daniels

Shawn Randazzo, Who Helped Popularize Detroit-Style Pizza in the U.S., Has Died | Eater Detroit

"Opened in 2019 in Royal Oak, this pizzeria was one of the chef’s later projects and is run by his cousins and business partners, who publicly shared news of his cancer diagnosis. The location is tied closely to his family and professional network and became a focal point for local support and fundraising after his illness." - Brenna Houck

Google
I got the Hot Honey Ricotta-Roni, the bread sticks and the Lemon Crème Pie gelato and everything was delicious! The pizza had so much flavor, the crust was crunchy and the sauce was really flavorful. The bread was light but has lots of buttery parmigiana flavor. And the gelato is creamy and the lemon is bright and refreshing. I will absolutely be trying other items from their menu!

I must say that it is BUSY even if you ordered minutes after it opened, but I cannot give a lower rating just because of the wait time, since it truly was worth it. The pizza is delicious and is incredibly flavorful. You can smell the fabulous aroma in their shop. Their gelato also looks good; however, I haven’t tried them yet, perhaps next time. A must try!

I tried the viral hot honey ricotta pizza from Palazzo Di Pizza. The ricotta was bland and really didn’t add anything to the flavor. The hot honey was unique, very honey forward with a strong spicy kick, but overall the combo just didn’t wow me. On the positive side, the pizza was cooked perfectly with a great crust. Next time I’d stick with a regular pepperoni.

Google
Really good carry out only for Detroit Style Pizza. My online order had a 1.5 hour wait time, they are always super busy! Pizza was fresh and wasn’t super greasy like Jets. They also serve really good gelato.

I’ve had a lot of pizza around the country and world. Ive never liked Detroit style pizza before, despite being a local, until Palazzo. Light and airy bread that doesn’t weigh you down, fresh ingredients, very balanced slice. Cannot recommend higher

Palazzo di Pizza has a big reputation as one of the best pizza spots, so I went in with high expectations. I tried the Hot Honey Ricotta, which was $28. The pizza itself was good, the dough was soft and had a nice texture, and the flavors came together well. Honestly though, it reminded me a lot of pizza from Jet’s or Green Lantern, just dressed up a bit more. For the price, I’d rate it a 7.5/10, it’s tasty, but doesn’t quite feel worth almost thirty bucks. If price isn’t a factor, I’d bump it to an 8/10. Overall, solid pizza, but definitely overhyped compared to what you’d expect from all the buzz around it. Be sure to order before they open online secure your order, as they get very busy and sell out fast.

Best pizza I’ve ever had in my life. Unbelievably crispy edges and the small size was perfect. Will crave this pizza forever
