The 19 Best Restaurants In Calistoga

"When we’re tired of long and elaborate lunches, this is where we come for a quick bite in a space that feels straight out of the ‘50s. There’s everything from pulled pork sandwiches and tacos to Thai chicken pizza and tasty burgers with onion rings and BBQ sauce. This isn’t exactly a dining destination, but it works great when you want something casual before a day of wine tasting." - christina julian

Google
Loved this spot! Great sandwiches and the pizzas looked very good too! Nice atmosphere in the heart of Calistoga.

Google
We got the fried chicken sandwich- I forget what it was called on the menu, and fish and chips for 2 people. For once! Normal sized portions and we could both finish our meal. Everything tasted great and fresh, the fries were super crispy, and the vibe of the restaurant was laid back and relaxed although they seemed quite busy.

Google
There's now waiting to be seated. They have plenty of patronage. You order at the register. You can choose to sit at the bar or wherever available. The food seems simple and tastes good. They bring it to you. I don't think it's required because they bus, but the community know which recepticles take what and where to put the dirty dishes. Try the big and tasty with a fried egg...

Google
We had an amazing experience here! The service was absolutely top notch, the food was incredible— we ordered a big n tasty and a highly recommended calzone, chocolate cake, and wine. It was an unforgettable experience. The only thing that I can’t remember is the name of the owner or manager who was so awesome and attentive (maybe Angela? I’m so sorry I forgot 😬). She clearly takes pride in her work and loves what she does. It was a great atmosphere and I would highly recommend!!!

Google
Lovely lunch spot in the heart of Calistoga, the staff are really friendly and we got a good table inside with a view looking out on the street. We ordered 2 wraps and they were really tasty, especially the chicken Caesar one. We also ordered a southwest chicken wrap which was a little too spicy for our liking and we didn't realise it would taste this way. Otherwise it is a lovely spot for lunch and I would still return.

Google
What a great place to eat. Food is delicious! I got fish and chips & my wife got the chicken wrap. We both loved it. Owner was very kind and pleasure to chat with. Definitely a must if your looking for affordable good tasting food !!

Sara Carlson

Google
We ordered pizza and a few appetizers for pick up and the staff that greeted us and processed our order were very friendly and warm, the environment was very inviting. The food tasted fresh and flavorful, I even ate the crusts on my pizza which I never do. Very yummy!

Ebehiremen Ayewoh

Google
These were the driest steak tacos that I've had in my life. It is not served with any salsa either. Skip these. The sweet potato fries are good but you can't really mess those up. This is a good place for a quick bite but manage your expectations. There is indoor and outdoor seating

Yelp
We stopped in here today after visiting the petrified forest nearby, and what a great experience we had! This cafe was adorable! Really quaint and nicely decorated. The server was fantastic. She was a team of one but rockin it! The food was unexpectedly fantastic. I had a Caesar salad which was better than a typical Caesar. The people I was with had rave reviews about the pork sandwich and the turkey sandwich as well. Definitely stop by here for a bite if you get the chance.

Yelp
Have you been to Palisades since they completed their fabulous remodel? We just went to their grand reopening in mid March (2025) and it is completely transformed. In the past, I have only stopped in to the 50s diner themed Café to grab a burger or some pizza after wine tasting so I was completely shocked to see the transformation.. it is gorgeous! Gone are the checkered tablecloths & 50's diner. Replaced with a sleek, modern , contemporary and classy bar area & intimate grouped & communal seating. The lighting, Decor & colors are soothing & inviting, you want to linger.... The menu still offers burgers, pizza, salads , sandwiches & wraps but has expanded to include some appetizers and other pasta mains from 5 to 9 pm. We tried a delish sausage pizza & a Thai Chicken pizza. The wine and beer list are solid and I hear that soon they will be serving cocktails. Be sure to Check it out next time you are in downtown Calistoga!

Yelp
Food was good but we ordered linguine with shrimp and it had pepper flakes but it didn't state it on the menu. My wife just ate the shrimp. The waitress offered to remake the dish but the rest of our party was half done. Waitress spoke to the manager about our order and told him that pepper flakes should be added to the dish details. Manager didn't even stop by to apologize or at least give a free dessert. We were still charged for the full meal. If you eat there make sure to ask what ingredients are used in the food you order. Most probably will not be returning to this eatery.

Yelp
Wonderful service, they were able to substitute a veggie patty into the salad instead of the chicken, and it tasted very good! Made the salad more substantial and yummy. The veggie grilled sandwich was so nice as well, the sauces and melted cheese were delicious. The ambiance is modern farmhouse vibe with a clean aesthetic. Great place to stop by on the downtown street!

Yelp
Ok, first time here...actually first time in Calistoga! The Big N'Tasty chicken sandwich was delicious. Fried chicken cutlet with a BLT basically. The onion rings were great not greasy and very crispy. Had the house ice tea...has just a hint of berry taste, very good. Staff were great, food arrived pretty quick and just as ordered. The place is not huge and parking downtown wasn't the easiest but it was worth it. You order at the counter and they will bring you your food. There are a couple of small outdoor tables also. Overall a great place to grab some lunch.

Yelp
We were leaving the area after visiting a few wineries, and this was our choice for some eats. It hit my requirement, pizza. It's a cute place inside, and I particularly like the old photos on the walls, on the way to the bathroom... Way in back. The woman at the counter was very friendly, and even allowed me to sample a couple of the beers (IPAs) on tap. While I don't remember the brewery, it was whichever one was most local. Pizza was great. I, and Thuy, forget which sandwich she had, but all of it got gobbled up (I don't think it was turkey). So here's a little 411. If there is an elderly lady having lunch by the window, unless you want to become embroiled in all sorts of lengthy conversation, on a wide variety of subjects, stay away. I didn't mind, but Thuy and my Godfather were a bit miffed. I didn't know we were planning on another winery!

Yelp
Calistoga is not far from Safari West, so it was a good place to go for lunch after African animal viewing. It was hot that afternoon so we were looking for a place that was cool, as well as, you know, "cool." The Palisades Eatery was perfect! We each had the Calistoga caesar sandwich, and after we ordered, we noticed the fries -- so we also had fries! Everything was great!

Yelp
Just tried to down two Palisades turkey sandwiches that were the worst sandwiches ever. The focaccia HAD to be from last week and you skimped on the spreads. Get it together, we use to love your sandwiches. DRY AS A POPCORN FART!! And we were just telling neighbors the pool how wonderful you were

Kensington F.

Yelp
last min late night dinner on the drive back to SF, glad they served us (seemed to stay open way past closing as there was a full bar). New ownership renovated restaurant this is the modern style that it is now! They kept the vintage checkered at the entrance. Food was good, great service. Easy in and out meal.

Liza F.

Yelp
Food is always great and consistent! We had their brussels sprouts. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a tasty dipping sauce. We got a bbq pork sandwich, big and tasty, blt, garlic fries, Thai pizza, all meat pizza, chicken strips. Reasonably priced and food does not disappoint. Sydney and Angela are always the sweetest and make the experience so much better! The new look is also super comfortable and spacious!

Yelp
I love a good Mom and Pop restaurant and Palisades Eatery did not disappoint us. We needed some fuel to combat the several glasses of wine we enjoyed at our tasting at Myriad Cellars. Easy to order at the counter and instructed to grab a seat and they would bring out our lunch. My wife and I split the Italian Sandwich, bought some chips and opted for water. The sandwich was outstanding and big enough to satisfy even when split. Service was fast and friendly and water was cold and plentiful. Bonus was our ability to find a parking spot right in front of the restaurant. Our visit to Palisades Eatery was nothing short of 5 stars. This will be our stop when tasting wine in Calistoga.

Yelp
My burger was excellent. Really good onion rings too. No table service but that doesn't keep it from being popular
google avatar

Sandee M.

Yelp
The food here was absolutely wonderful - simple yet satisfying! I love club house sandwiches and their version was pretty close to perfection with the right amount of everything plus avocados. And their fries were delicious! The restaurant is quaintly cafeteria style where you go up to the counter to order and the food is delivered to your table. It's clean and comfortable and we enjoyed our lunch!

Brittany M.

Yelp
Very disappointing BURNT pizza. My kids wouldn't even eat the cheese pizza and the Fungi pizza was very bland and also very burnt on the bottom.

Chris H.

Yelp
Great lunch stop in Calistoga Cuisine for all including fried chicken sandwhich, fish tacos and more

Shai G.

Yelp
Highly recommend! Stumbled on this spot after a wine tasting. We ordered the cheese burger and margarita Pizza! One of the best burgers I've had, very fresh! Overall, the service was great and everything tasted great!

Yelp
I was just visiting for the first time and we got kind of hungry and I was actually celebrating my birthday with my family , and the cashier Angela over heard that it was my birthday and she surprised me with a small cake and the whole restaurant was singing I thought that was very sweet of her , thank you the pizza was amazing and yes service phenomenal and the ambience I would definitely be back again next time I go to Napa valley

Yelp
My wife and I were in the area doing wineries and wanted a sandwich for lunch so we went here. You order at the counter then they will bring you your meal. We got sodas from a grab and go fridge and ordered sandwiches. I ordered the marinated tri-tip and my wife got the BLT. The bread for the tri-tip was great. It tasted fresh like it was homemade. As for the sandwich it had nice flavor but the chipotle mayo completely overpowered the meat. I didn't try my wife's BLT but it looked good and she said it was enjoyable. We did have a bit of a miscommunication with the waiter. We thought we ordered fries but they never came so I asked and they were not on the receipt. I am not holding that against the restaurant because maybe we weren't clear when ordering but the reason we were confident we ordered them was because of the price. It was over $50 (with tip) for two sandwiches and two sodas, so we figured fries were on that tab. As enjoyable as the food was that is a lot of money for lunch to not even get a bag of chips or something as a side. Overall we enjoyed our food and the vibe but the price would probably mean we would try something else if we were in the city.

Yelp
Got a slice of cheese pizza and used the bathroom..snacks in Calistoga..before we left town and went back to SF

Yelp
My friends and I grabbed quick evening snack at Palisades Eatery in Calistoga. The service was quick and fast and located in convenient downtown location. I ordered the southwest chicken wrap. It was just like a typical south west chicken salad mixed and added to a tortilla wrap. To my surprise it was a cold dish. It tasted alright but it was very oily. Probably too much oil in the salad dressing. The fries are decent. My friends ordered burrito wraps and beyond burger. They said it tasted good. It was open till late evening so a good stop if you want to grab something quick. The ambiance is clean and the cafe well maintained. Update: Thank you Angela for reaching out to me. I understand the dressing situation, it was still tasty tho but since am conscious of my food I happened to notice it. Changing the rating to 4 stars. :) next time am in Calistoga will visit your cafe again for sure

Yelp
We ordered the "Big and Tasty", meatball sandwich and fries. The texture of the bread was good, filling was delicious. I enjoyed both sandwiches but liked the Big and Tasty more. The sandwiches were a good size and very filling. I ate about 3/4. The garlic fries were very hot and well cooked (crispy without being hard). Overall a nice lunch. Will come back.

Yelp
Food and service was great. Fun location. We will be back. Loved the vibe and the look of the restaurant.

Yelp
Called during lunch time. 1st call person on the line couldn't hear me so she kept saying "hellooo" in the rudest way. Called again, she placed me on hold & then the call either disconnected or she hung up. Called one last time and this lady had the nastiest attitude she was upset that i had called so many times, she blamed me for calling so many times and "not saying anything and i was calling during rush hour". I was unhappy with the service so asked to speak with the manager she said she was the manager and her name was Angela. I let her know I did not like her attitude and will be leaving a review, she encouraged me to do so. One minute later she called me back and said "ma'am you threatened to leave a review..." that's all i heard because i hung up. This review is for the staff, not the food. Think wisely about who you hire to represent your business. And if you're the owner, then maybe customer service isn't the appropriate carrier field. BTW:Telling you i was leaving a review is far from a threat. If you took it that way, it comes to show you knew you were in the wrong (: take care! p.s many threats?!?! Lol

Yelp
Great local eatery with excellent burgers and fries. Prices were very reasonable for this area! We really enjoyed our dinner!
google avatar

Yelp
Casual dining and the food is great! One of the best burgers I've ever had and the Garlic Parmesan fries have garlic and cheese from top to bottom. It's a new happy place!
google avatar

Maria R.

Yelp
The was a nice place to stop. We didn't have a full meal but stopped for a snack and it was good! It's located in downtown Calistoga so there are other places nearby to make a day of it. There is a ice cream shop right next door. There is street parking. The service was through, not over friendly but felt like you've known them for years. There are moveable tables with chairs, high tops, and outdoor seating. At the time we went the hot coffee machine wasn't working but they were very accommodating by saying we could get it somewhere else and then bring it in. They also have the cold brew coffee in the fridge. Overall nice place to stop for a snack or meal!
google avatar

Max ..

Yelp
food had weak flavor and excessive amount of sauces. for the price, you could eat elsewhere and better. server/cashier came off kinda rude and was dismissive and did not seem like she wanted to even take our order.

Lauren B.

Yelp
The club sandwich and trip tip sandwich were so good! I don't recommend getting the lunch box, it's more thank getting it separate for a sandwich, chips, tiny water and cookie for $25 was steep but the food was good! The cute inside was nice and they had a water station which was a nice touch. Also the restaurant dog was so cute!
google avatar

Luciente G.

Yelp
We had a very nice visit while passing through town. The kids got burgers, hubs got a Cesar wrap and I had the tuna salad. Kids liked their burgers and they were cool and lettuce wrapped one for us. Cesar wrap was fine. I really loved my tuna salad. I was stoked to se a half an avocado on my salad usually most places skimp. I really liked the tuna salad itself. Good flavor and a bit of heat. I gave 4 stars because we were not greeted and left hanging for a bit waiting for service. When she did come I felt like we were putting her out by ordering food there. It would have been nice for her to ask if the kids wanted fries or a side with the burger. We didn't realize it came as is. Hey they would have upsold the ticket too.
google avatar

Yelp
I had Turkey Pesto w/ Gluten free bread so that my friend could also try mine. It was delicious! Pleased with my sub.

Elissa S.

Yelp
Not fancy but quaint, clean, great staff and really REALLY good food! So much to choose from and we have tried a few items, all delicious! We will make this a regular stop!

Dianna V.

Yelp
Excellent always, come here weekly. Would give 10 stars if available. Good salads but fish tacos hard to pass up.
google avatar

Salvatore S.

Yelp
Very disappointed ordered 2 turkey clubs which is advertised with avocado both were shorted. If I had to pay extra I would or at least inform the customer that you are out of the product. PALISADES EATERY DROPPED THE BALL BIG-TIME I WAS CHARGED FOR SOMETHING I DID NOT RECEIVE. Will not be recommending or coming for a while. The manager responded and offered to make it right which bumped up a star, but it is not yelp bashing it's just the truth. UPDATED REVIEW I got a quick response from Angela the manager who refunded me for one of the clubs and I appreciate the timely action. Thank you Angela very professional.
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
Ding dong and onion rings were both great. Service was great too. Unfortunately, the sandwich was just so so and this is a sandwich place. I tried the Big N Tasty which is a fried chicken sandwich. If you like a good fried chicken sandwich, then this is not the sandwich for you. The thin (and I mean very thin) piece of chicken was so no existent in the sandwich that you might mistake it for something other than chicken. I will definitely come back but try a different sandwich or maybe just stick with the onion rings and ding dong.
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
Being human, we all have slip ups! How we handle it is the making of greatness! I contacted the owner about a concern and he quickly took care of the issue! I came back and purchased sandwiches! My husband loved the muffuletta jam on his Italian sub! Fresh vegetables and sauces made everything amazing ! Friendly, helpful staff and an adorable bulldog visiting. Go and enjoy their food!
google avatar

Telana M.

Yelp
Great experience! We ordered some sandwiches to go so we could quickly eat before our mud bath. The staff member who took our order was friendly and efficient. The Eatery was clean and well-organized. We ordered the Palisades Turkey Sandwich and the Golden Gate Sandwich. Both of our sandwiches tasted great! I highly recommend it if you need a quick sandwich in Calistoga.
google avatar

Navin K.

Yelp
We were cold and hungry after spending a couple of hours walking around The Petrified Forest a few miles away, and walked into Palisades because of its cheerful ambience and warm atmosphere. We ordered a couple of pizzas for the kids to share (14" combination and 9" pesto cheese), ham and bean soup for me, and fish tacos for the Missus. The food arrived quickly. The fish tacos were decent, if a little spicy. The ham and bean soup was warm and filling, though a bit salty. The highlight of our meal was the combination pizza - delicious tomato sauce generously topped with sausage, pepperoni, mushroom, bell pepper, olives, and mozzarella. We all enjoyed it immensely. Perhaps the most disappointing dish was the pesto cheese pizza - too oily and not flavorful at all. Parking - on the street, not hard to find. Bathrooms - gender neutral, clean. Prices - a little on the steep side. Service - very attentive. On the way out, we grabbed a lemon bar to go, which our kids tell us was yummy. Overall, a solid place to stop by for a meal in Calistoga.

Yelp
Solid option for a casual lunch in downtown Calistoga. It's a fast casual setup where you order at the counter and then find a seat (they bring your food when it's ready). It's a cute and quaint restaurant located in the middle of the downtown area. My understanding is that this is a new location down the street from where they used to be. Service was friendly, seating was amble, and food tasted fresh and delicious. Prices were on point as well. I like all the choices of drinks, soda, and beer they had available. The drinks were very colorful and appealing to the eye. Overall, we liked all the food we had. * Chicken Caesar Wrap: Fresh and on point. Not too large and not too small. The flavors worked well together, the caesar was not overpowering * Fish Tacos: These were delicious. All the flavors mixed well together, and the slaw (I assume homemade) was fresh and tasty. The fish portion was generous enough and not over fried or overcooked. The gentleman near us ordered a pizza. It looked delicious, and when we struck up conversation, he said it was delicious and that Palisades is his favorite place to eat (he's a local).
google avatar

Angelin R.

Yelp
Service was excellent! Super friendly and helpful. I ordered a vegetarian sandwich and it was delicious! What more could you ask for?!!! I will definitely stop by next time I'm in the area.
google avatar

Matthew G.

Yelp
Never a bad place for lunch, mostly because there's a variety of items on the menu and they are all pretty tasty. My favorites are the tri-tip sandwich, cubano, and burritos... though the prices are a little higher than some places. But pretty reasonable for Napa Valley standards. The bread today was very fresh, and the french fries were pretty fantastic (gonna have to get those again.)
google avatar

LI L.

Yelp
My family and I stopped by after doing wine tasting in the area. We were going to order pizzas, but the lady at the cashier told us that it would take 30-40 min for pizzas. We decided to order sandwiches instead. They took 40min to make our sandwich :( everyone was starving and had to wait 40 min for something we didn't really want thinking that it would be faster. Also my cousin specifically told the gal that he had mustard allergy and his sandwich arrived with mustard after waiting 40 min for it!!! It wasn't even crowded that day. Very s-l-o-w kitchen.
google avatar

Douglas M.

Yelp
I tried the Zesty Italian and out was awesome. One of the best Italian sandwich I've had, regulatory in the top 5. Southwest chicken Wrap: it was ok, light and airy, not much chicken. They should have done something with the rice instead of plan white rice. Chicken Empanada ($2.25) we good, nothing special. Guacamole was really good (Red Onion, cilantro, lime)
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
Came here for a quick bite. We ordered 2 sandwiches which were both great on a sourdough roll. The sando's came out HOT and bread was nice and toasty. TRI TIP sandwich was ooey gooey cheesy and very satisfying. REUBEN sandwich had great acidity from the pickled vegetables so if you like something a little more pickled/sour, this is the one for you.
google avatar

Cristie G.

Yelp
Excellent food, very clean dining room and a fun atmosphere! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal!
google avatar

Kate L.

Yelp
The local state park ranger recommended Palisades Deli and you know what they say, when you need good information, ask a ranger. I ordered the #15 Pacific Torta because it sounded like a fun and wacky sandwich--and it sure was! Carnitas, refried beans, jalapeño, onion, lettuce, tomato, and more on a sourdough roll? Yes please! The sandwich came fast, the roll was excellent, veggies were fresh, and the jalapeño and onions were nice and tangy. The refried beans were a little weird texturally but I did want wacky after all. Unfortunately, the sandwich lost a star on the disappointingly dry carnitas. Still, I enjoyed sitting outside on a summer afternoon eating a solid four star sammie, and walked away satisfied.

Yelp
1st time trying this place since they changed their name. Sorry about that since I'm a local. Anyway, I thought I would give them a shot to make me happy. All they offer is take out, of course, so I looked through the menu and decided on a Thai Chicken Pizza-9". Ordered by phone and they said around 25 minutes. Walked in and was asked by a blonde if they could help me. I said I'd ordered a pizza and my name was Dave. She said it wasn't quite ready. Soon enough it was. It looked really nice. Chicken, peanut sauce, pine nuts (substituted for peanuts), cilantro, green onion & carrots. Crust looked awesome. Offered the standard cheese and peppers as well... The dish was fine, if a bit on the bland side. For some reason I though it might have a bit of heat on it, even though that wasn't advertised. Service was pretty low key. No "Good evening" "Nice to see you" (no eye contact). I know, I know. Just an observation. It just didn't feel quite right. Of course, they didn't know I was a local, but didn't ask either. I mean what else was going on? Nothing! Like, maybe I was having a bad day, maybe she was or perhaps I just had higher expectations. I felt there could have been more to the transaction. Not a clear memory of whether I was even thanked for my business. Other restaurants make a bit more effort to get to know their clients. So 3 stars. Not bad, not so good. I'll try them again though. Lots of other things on the menu that looked interesting...

Yelp
Review for takeout breakfast burrito. The best breakfast burrito I've had in a VERY long time. I highly recommend, and if you're hungry - you will not be hungry afterwards. The burrito was filled to the brim and had everything I wanted: scrambled eggs, meat, salsa, potatoes, cheese. I don't know what else I need to say to convince you. Get the breakfast burrito.

Yelp
Really cute place with excellent American food. We got a cheeseburger and meatball sub with fries and both were delicious. Also very nice service. Easy online ordering. It was great that I got a text when it was ready. The interior is cute and homey.

Yelp
Supposedly the sandwiches are not bad but the omelette was pretty meh. Options are limited in the area and they do have a large outdoor seating area which is nice Apparently they follow the horrible "Mendocino farms" ordering system. You place your order with one guy then you walk to another area where you have to repeat your order to a second guy and pay.... This system makes no sense. There was no one else there when we showed up so it wasn't bad but my experience at Mendocino farms when they are busy is that no one knows where to order or pay and it just becomes a cluster. *for those that don't know - Mendocino farms is a "fancy" sandwich chain.
