As a huge fans of acai bowl or any smoothie bowls, I really recommend this place. Among smoothie bowl places that i’ve been visited in Bay Area, this place has one of the most aesthetically pleasing bowls. The price is a bit higher compare to other smoothie bowl places, but it is worth it since they offer great variety of topping. The taste and the texture are okay. For me, I have anothe smoothie bowl place that I like more than this place in term of the taste, however, aesthetically-wise this palm-acai cafe is the winner

Google
Finally!!! After searching for years, I finally found a delicious smoothie bowl! They surpassed my expectations. I got the dragon smoothie bowl regular size. It was filled to the brim with fruit. It had kiwi (a little sour), mango, and strawberries. It also had a healthy portion of granola. I wish that they added more honey bc I couldn’t really taste the honey. My partner got the Palma smoothie bowl regular size and he was also happy with his bowl! It came with bananas, dried goji berries, and strawberries. I highly recommend this restaurant!! I wish I could come here everyday, but unfortunately I’m from Texas and I’m only visiting. If I ever come to the Bay Area again, I’ll be sure to stop by again bc it’s worth it. Another “”complaint”” (not really a complaint just something to point out) is that they didn’t seem to have AC but that seems to be a common thing in California. They did have very limited seating! There were 8 seats throughout the restaurant

Google
When your looking for a quick bite on the healthy side in the area, give ‘em a try. The flavor combos are unique and taste good. The bowls are good sizes and they fill them up with a hefty amount. The blended content was very cold, almost like it was frozen first. That would in my mind take away from the freshness but I get the business side, when things get busy premade would speed things up. Either way give them a try!

Google
Very tasty and fresh açaí bowls. Perfect for when you’re craving something sweet but you don’t want to go too unhealthy. I tried the little bear bowl and I really like it!

Amman Sills

Google
This place is delicious! I do not come here often by each time is a delicious treat! I love the little bear by the photos shown are of the dragon bowl

Erich Grois

Google
Absolutely delicious. I didn’t realize I like açaí this much until coming to this place. The bowls were super fresh, very tasty and locally inspired. What’s not to love?

Vic

Google
4.5 stars. Top 3 best acai bowls, with Deep Purpl and Palmetto Superfoods being the other 2 best

Grace Walker

Google
Best açai bowls I’ve ever had. They’re very creative combinations and use great ingredients. It’s a bit pricy but the quality is unbeatable. So delicious and the staff is very sweet and quick. (Matcha-Chia bowl pictured)

Yelp
This truly hit the spot for me! I'll definitely be coming back often. I got the tropical smoothie, but since I'm pregnant and my body is craving certain things, I customized it with just strawberries, coconut milk, and lime. It was icy cold and absolutely refreshing. Thank you so much, ladies, for being so patience with me! I had to come back after walking around sipping on it because it helped calm down my high blood pressure. The cold icy, fresh strawberries were so smoothing. I really appreciate that they use fresh, wholesome fruits. Plus - I haven't been able to stomach much food for weeks and been feeling sick so this helps ease my stomach. I've been going to a different place in Oakland, but not anymore--I'll be coming here instead! The ambiance was cute, posh, and clean, and everyone was so pleasant. I'll definitely be back for the exact same thing.

Yelp
Dragon Bowl-- 4/5. Very refreshing, but I wish the portions were a bit more equal. There is a lot more açaí than there are toppings. The large bowl I got was like $16.50 if I'm not mistaken which I think is a little over the top. Overall, the staff was nice, and my bowl only took about 5 mins to come out. The cafe is located in a busy area surrounded by other shops, so parking may be a little more difficult.
google avatar

Yelp
Another amazing trip! Bowls are always amazing. This isn't our first or our last trip here.

Yelp
I've been curious about this place for a while, we finally tried it and really enjoyed it. Good portions, no skimping on fruit toppings, and the base was not too sweet on either bowl. The only note I have is one worker had on gloves and was restocking drinks, picking up trash off the floor, and then went back into the kitchen area and continued to touch things (but no food prep). May be time for little training. The food preppers weren't doing any of that though. All the fruit tasted fresh and texturally each bowl was very satisfying. Not priced too bad imo. Little place, but a handful of seats to sit and eat in there if you're inclined.
google avatar

Rose L.

Yelp
Got the Tamalpais with Strawberry instead of Kiwi, Two Notes: - You can only sub toppings in the same price range - Parking is nasty here, there is parking infront of the library sometimes. The flavor of the base was great! They were able to make it more icy for me by adding less cashew milk. The strawberries were very tart with the blueberries but the honey and bee pollen. Overall it was okay for $18 with tip and tax. Good for a quick Acai fix but definitely other options available too!

Yelp
overall rating 5/5 this is a small shop in elmwood along with other small businesses. interior is small but it has some seating in and outside they have preset bowls and smoothies with the option to substitute certain things in the bowl the service was quick but a lot busier in the mornings especially weekends my order - the hunter bowl, literally the best combination ever! the base is so thick, and the topics go so well with each other this is legit the best acai place ive tried so far, I highly recommend it!
google avatar

Lynn N.

Yelp
I've been meaning to try Palm for a while, and I had a good time. The place is bright with limited seating. Elmwood is also very hard to park, but we were lucky to find an open slot nearby. Our cashier was very kind and quick with our order. We got our bowls about ten minutes after ordering. The Gatherer Bowl was very refreshing. I love acai bowls, in general, and this hit all the notes. The granola with fresh fruit pairs well with the base, and the almond butter added a nice nuttiness. I do like this bowl, but it is decently priced for the size. I would definitely still recommend for anyone who has not tried this place yet!
google avatar

Brianna W.

Yelp
This place is soo good! I got an acai bowl (Gather) and it was amazing!!! Also get the chia pudding. It was a great addition to the bowl. Parking can be a bit hard but is doable. Definitely will need to try their other bowls next.

Yelp
If you're in the Berkeley area looking for a tasty Acai bowl, Palm Acai cafe is it. Every time I visit the bay I always try a new spot so my sister recommended this cafe and it did not miss. It was easy to find parking and the walkability in the area is great. Cute, small interior with a few high top tables and a window counter. They were pretty busy but took no more than 10 minutes to receive my order. I decided on the Hunter bowl and it was delicious! Will be back to order another bowl...or two
google avatar

Jasmine F.

Yelp
Cool spot for açaí bowls! I got the little bear and it was a good ratio of base to toppings. I added chia pudding to it and that elevated it even more. The green smoothie was also really good. They were super quick to make our order and very friendly when asking about the menu. Can't wait to come back to try more! There's some indoor seating available. Overall it's a small spot.
google avatar

Emmi D.

Yelp
I got the gatherer. The bases are made to order so they can modify - I got no banana. I find the acai to be on the watery side compared to more traditional Brazilian acai places - probably due to the cashew milk. Priced pretty comparably to other açai places maybe slightly cheaper. I like that they piled on the toppings. Plenty of seats and some outlets. Paid street parking. It was very hot inside so not sure they have AC
google avatar

Madeleine Y.

Yelp
Hands down the best açaí bowls in Berkeley! The bowls are always consistent and taste super fresh every time. I always come here when I need something to cleanse my body or want something that tastes fresh and clean! The service is great and the inside is decorated so cute! I always get the little bear but I also like the hunter as well. Have yet to try the warm bowls but would want to in the future! 10/10 recommend
google avatar

Vicki L.

Yelp
Great smoothies! Multiple ingredient options - some unique offerings you don't find at other places. Friendly and fast service.
google avatar

Sanjana S.

Yelp
Came back here and got the Hunter bowl which was much more up my alley compared to the last time I came. Although I still wish they had customizable bowls that didn't charge per topping, I did really enjoy the Hunter bowl and would return for it.
google avatar

Yelp
I strongly believe Palm Açai has the best açai not only in all of NorCal, but both NorCal and SoCal combined. Every loved one who visited me in Berkeley experienced me coaxing them into a trip to Palm where I raved about the pitaya bowl I get until they try it for themselves. My favorite bowl is the Dragon Bowl with added Nutella. 10/10 will always be delicious and super filling enough to replace an entire meal in the day. The service is pretty efficient, as I've always received my order fairly quickly, And while it isn't spacious inside, there are still a few seats to utilize if you really do want eat inside. If you don't, there are several seating options outside down the street.

Yelp
To those of you that need that healthy boost, have no fear because "Palm Açai Café" will have you covered. Nestled in the heart of Berkeley and located directly on College Ave. and adjacent to Ashby Ave., this place has been serving up delicious smoothies, bowls, coffee drinks, and even a variety of toasts dating back to the summer of 2018. And considering this is in close proximity to UC Berkeley, this has been a fan favorite for college students, locals, and passerbys. Keep in mind that they do have somewhat limited hours of operation only being opened Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00am-5:00pm while they are closed on Monday to give their employees a chance to rest. As far as the interior layout, they do offer a few tables inside but this is more or less a to-go business. The decor has a very IKEA-esque vibe to it with a ton of white furniture with several live plants throughout. It is well done, simple, and provides a clean feng-shui for its customers and staff. Since I had already eaten a decent lunch a couple hours prior to coming here, I wasn't too hungry; at least not for a bowl. Therefore, during my visit which was around 3:30pm on Saturday 5/13/2023, I went with their "Açai smoothie". This smoothie had a blend of açai, cherries, mixed berries, banana, coconut milk, mint, and agave nectar. Since it was fairly busy, it took about 10 minutes to receive my smoothie. One noticeable difference about this smoothie is that it was not nearly as sweet as some of the major well-know competitors; mainly "Jamba Juice", "Vitality Bowls", and "Nektar Juice". Reason being is that they replace the unhealthier sugar with agave. This to me is a great marketing tactic while providing a better detox for an overall healthier alternative. All in all, "Palm Açai Café" is an above average place to get your fruit smoothie/bowl fix while the prices aren't too expensive for a small family-owned and operated business. I think the only reason I had to deduct a star is their limited hours of operation. Many students start class before 9am and many times, they want a healthy dose of their fruit fix after 5pm. Other than that, this is a great little place. My rating, four stars.

Yelp
Cute store with yummy acai bowls! I took a pilates class and went here immediately afterwards when I saw there was a matcha chia bowl on their menu. It was so delicious! The other bowls they have also sound very solid. The prices are reasonable for their portions, and they use good ingredients. I can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
Loved my tropical smoothie. Had been thirsting for fresh fruit and this hit the spot. I did catch a little "freezer burn" flavor in it though
google avatar

Loreto D.

Yelp
Oh, how l love a refreshing and healthy smoothie! I've had the Warrior and the the Rise (with almond butter instead of peanut butter) and both are yummy. They use straight up ingredients and the drinks are not too sweet. I believe they use Ritual Cold Brew for their coffee base. Palm Acai, stay delicious!
google avatar

Taylor L.

Yelp
I've been to Palm Acai cafe a handful of times now and they have been consistently excellent. The large bowls huge and the smoothies are delicious. I would say they are on the more expensive side, but also comparable to any other smoothie place and I would rather support a small business. There is a bit of seating inside, and a selection of beverages if you're interested. A great place to stop for a quick lunch!
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
Palm Açai makes me feel like I'm at a beach about to enjoy the sunshine. The energy and space of the cafe is great, and they also have a great selection for their acai bowls including toppings such as bee pollen (which i recommend trying!). Came with a friend on a weekday morning, and there was no wait. I got a small dragon bowl, and it came out fresh and yummy a few minutes after.
google avatar

Jessica A.

Yelp
Delicious açaí bowls! I got the Matcha-Chia Bowl and it was very good and very filling. The service was friendly and quick. The ambiance is very chill and the space is small but not different than any other açaí spot. I'd love to return and try other items on their menu!
google avatar

Georgia R.

Yelp
Lovely gem in Elmwood! Palm açaí was introduced to me by a dear friend who is from Hawai'i and she also loves it. I think this is the best açaí bowl place in Berkeley because they use fresh ingredients and offer a variety of options to top off your chosen bowl. Especially since the weather feels warmer now, it's worth it to give it a try! Parking can be tough, but there are pockets of parking near the residential areas. There are also other restaurants near by & a movie theater across the street
google avatar

Sarah K.

Yelp
After hearing a lot about this cafe, I decided to give it a try. I got the gatherer acai bowl which has a base of acai, strawberry, banana, cashew milk and toppings of strawberry, goji berry, blueberry, almond butter, bee pollen, sliced almonds, raw honey, and granola. I would've appreciated more honey. The base was not too sweet which I liked and also not too watery like some acai bowls that I've had before. However, I think they could've thickened the base because it melted within 5 minutes that I received it. In addition, it was pretty pricey for the small amount that I got. It's not the best acai I've had and it was pretty average. They have a lot of cool ingredients for the base and toppings, so you could essentially mix and match to your hearts content. For example, they even have activated charcoal and coconut chia pudding.
google avatar

Jessica P.

Yelp
The best açaí bowl I've ever had!! Gather bowl + cacao nibs and chia pudding. My boyfriend got the Hunter bowl + chia pudding and loved his too. Limited seating but really cute spot!

Yakky T.

Yelp
Their new stools in the store suck; they are rickety. The bowls and smoothies are fantastic.
google avatar

Samantha M.

Yelp
Amazing bowls and the staff is lovely. I am a big fan of the banana strawberry combo and the staff are great about customizing to accommodate my little quirks!
google avatar

Kayla ..

Yelp
I got the hunter bowl it was super yummy! I added whey protein and Nutella. It was like $14.95 little pricey but oh well! It was a yummy snack after a long day at work.
google avatar

Athena L.

Yelp
Aren't these some of the most beautiful açaí bowls you have seen! Palm Açaí cafe is a cute little walk place to grab lunch, maybe a snack, or something filling with a friend. It also makes the perfect picnic to go to item on a Sunday sunny day. That was my exact experience with this place! And the staff is awesome. Although service is a bit slow, I am not at all surprised given the amount of people who were also loving this place. Now to the açaí bowls themselves Texture: Thick which is how I love my açaí bowls and covered in all the right fruit and granola that gave it a good crunch. Taste: Coordinated taste pairings with a theme ( we added spirulina to ours) still tasted good. I do wish there were more options or freedom to build the açaí bowl but overall still good. Total score: 8/10 in comparison to other açaí bowls but best one in Berkeley.
google avatar

Karen T.

Yelp
Ambiance: nice and well lit inside with seating for you to finish your açaí bowl. The order also gets to you relatively quickly. Food: pretty good açai bowl, with a huge variety of options. I would highly recommend the palma. I also ordered something with veggies inside and underestimated just how strong the vegetable taste would be. If you're not into that would recommend just sticking to the fruit flavors. All in all, not bad just so expensive for the amount you get. A medium bowl will set you back ~$14 with tax and tip, which is pretty much the price of a regular meal.
google avatar

Lesley C.

Yelp
Love love love the gatherer bowl! You can easily substitute your base, toppings and any dietary needs. Prices are reasonable for the portion! The only con is parking here could def be a nightmare during peak hours.
google avatar

Bonnie S.

Yelp
LOVE this cafe - their açaí bowls are some of the best I've had in the Bay Area by far! Everything taste super fresh and just super yummy. We came here 15 min after it opened on a Saturday morning and there was no line. We ordered and got our food quickly - after we sat down and ate our bowls, people started coming and next thing you know there is quite a wait. So If you're coming on a weekend, come early or be prepared to wait! We got a large hunter bowl and a regular gather bowl - the large bowl is like double the size of the regular! Definitely recommend getting the large if you are hungry. Both of those bowls are amazing and if you like nut butters (which we do!), it's absolutely delicious. Cannot wait to come back...I'm already thinking about my next açaí bowl from here!
google avatar

Fefe A.

Yelp
Stoped by to get bowls after a nice hike at tildon regional park . I would have to say the best açaí bowls in Berkeley !!! Parking was a little difficult as it on a busy street. But the place inside was causal with a few areas to sit and eat ! They don't allow you to build your own bowl but you can do add ons . The bowls are delicious and service is good !
google avatar

Haley T.

Yelp
Stumbled on this place walking around, looking for lunch. The lots of foot traffic and the pleasant interior caught my interest. Staff was very nice! I ordered the small Palma Açaí Bowl. Everything was good quality and very tasty. I think it was great value for açaí. I would definitely come back if I'm in the area! Finding parking can be difficult.
google avatar

Audrey I.

Yelp
Although the açaí craze has died down a bit in recent years, Palm Açai Café still boasts long wait times and a solid customer base. Why? It's because they genuinely carry the best smoothie bowls in the Bay Area. The hunter, an acai-based smoothie bowl laden with drizzles of silky peanut butter and a generous portion of granola, is a crowd-pleaser and my go-to. While portions may seem unimpressive, a regular bowl can fill me up for hours without bogging me down. The prices are also fair given the excellent ingredients and the shop's location in upscale Elmwood. Definitely will be back!
google avatar

Dee P.

Yelp
I love the variations, freshness and quality of this place! Suited in a lovely area on college ave where you can walk around and enjoy your açai bowl. They also have other menu options like smoothies which I hear about delightful. Staff were nice and quick and it's nice and clean vibe inside makes your snack much more enjoyable. Definitely going to be a regular here!
google avatar

Amber C.

Yelp
SO GOOD. I got the matcha one and my friend got green dragon. You could definitely taste the matcha in the matcha one.
google avatar

Billy P.

Yelp
Really chill and welcoming vibes when I first walked in, but to the bowls. I personally ordered the gather bowl and tried the dragon bowl. Honestly can't go wrong with either one. Flavors of both were on point, fruits are fresh af and solid 4 out of 5.
google avatar

Hoa G.

Yelp
Hubby and I were in the area because I wanted to go to Pressed to grab some juices. I told him I'll get him food and he wanted to get Acai bowls. There is only street parking, so it's a bit hard trying to find parking on the weekend in the area. We did loop around once and was able to find parking just around the block. Staff was super kind and I love the interior of the place. Hubby ordered the Palma bowl and I had the Hunter bowl. We both got just their original size but it was more than enough. Oh goodness, the bowls were just delicious! Everything just mixed so well together. We will honestly be back to try the other flavors they have. I will definitely find a reason to head out towards that area just for their Acai bowls. I wish parking wasn't an issue, but it's not too much of a problem when you plan your day ahead.
google avatar

Gabrielle A.

Yelp
Best açaí bowls ever! Just tried this place for the first time and it is awesome. Tons of choices for different bowls and smoothies (and also warm steel-cut oats with toppings).
google avatar

Lindy L.

Yelp
Glad I stumbled upon this place. Very good price for the portion size and nice blend of ingredients! Service is fast although I wish there were more seats and music in the store. Would recommend to people looking to try this place out.
google avatar

Totyana H.

Yelp
Oh my goodness! This place is a must try! I'm visiting from Washington DC and a friend brought me by and I am already obsessed. I got the Little Bear açaí bowl with mango added. The flavors were so tasty. This was a great healthy and sweet snack. The fruit was very fresh. I highly recommend trying this place. Also, I believe all of their take out products are compostable!
google avatar

Nadine Y.

Yelp
[ During Covid Review ] I was seriously craving an acai bowl and wanted to try a different place than my usual go to place and this place was delicious! Even though our county is orange tier, this place still does not allow customers to eat inside and they have a small booth in the entrance where they take your order. They offer a variety of acai bowls on their menu such as the palma, tamalpais, amazonian, hunter, gatherer, little bear, dragon, matcha-chia and an emerald acai bowl. Not wanting an acai bowl? No worries, they got smoothies such as the rise, acai, greenery, tropical, elixir, blue colada, matcha coco and a warrior. They also offer equator coffee, cold brews, horchata matcha ice lattes, iced tea, etc. But wait, there's more! They also have toast such as an avocado toast, almond butter, and Pb& J. I ended up ordering a regular amazonian bowl without the crushed cashews and coconut. The presentation was gorgeous, picture worthy and delicious. The fruit on top of my acai bowl was fresh and I loved that the mangos were soft and not hard like they weren't ripe. Overall, I highly recommend this place if anyone is looking for a good acai bowl.
google avatar

Kristina Z.

Yelp
palm acai is my favorite acai bowl in berkeley/elmwood! i always get the gatherer bowl, which comes with strawberries, blueberries, almond butter, goji berries, honey, bee pollen, and other yummy healthy stuff! my friend got the little bear which comes with nutella, strawberries, and coconut! the gatherer is my go to and i don't normally like almond butter in my bowls but this was surprisingly so good and i always get it now! prices are a little more now than they used to be, but trust this is still by far the best acai bowl in the area!
google avatar

Angel L.

Yelp
Everything you're looking for in an acaí bowl after a workout or just stopping by! If you're ordering on a weekend, sometimes it might be faster ordering online. They are closed Mondays and hours vary on weekdays and weekends (see more info on Yelp page). I especially like to come after a run or working out because it's a great pick me up and tastes so refreshing and filling. I get the gatherer bowl because I don't like the coconut shavings in the original one and can't sub it. The almond butter works well. I've also tried the greenery and my friend's tropical - an alternative if you don't want an acaí bowl! You'll have to look for street parking. A solid spot for acaí - my choice for an acaí place if I'm in the Berkeley/Oakland area.
google avatar

Geoff W.

Yelp
Love their made to order Açai Bowls. Have it any which way you want. Order ahead. Vegan and gluten free and dairy free friendly. And they have cold brew coffee!
google avatar

Erin Y.

Yelp
I'm so happy to have found a good açaí place in the Bay Area!! I ordered the hunter bowl (little bear size) which was $11 and the perfect portion size. It comes with granola, honey, peanut butter, cacao nibs but they have many options if that isn't your preference for toppings! The açaí is smooth and delicious. Everything tasted very fresh and light but filling. There aren't a lot of seats inside and parking can be hard (I usually part at rhe Elmwood lot) but walking around the street to discover bookstores and such around is really enjoyable. This will be my new go to spot :)
google avatar

Harry L.

Yelp
Wow wow this place is incredible!! One of the best açaí bowls I've ever had. Ingredients are very fresh. Super refreshing and delicious. I got the palm.
google avatar

Stephanie Y.

Yelp
Although my smoothie was tasty, for $10 it was fairly small. The same sentiment goes for the $10 small acai bowl, for the price it's more of a light meal vs a hearty, healthy breakfast. They do have the option for a larger acai bowl which may be a better deal if it's indeed substantially larger. Currently they are only doing acai bowls and smoothies. It's very convenient right on College Ave in a great 'hood and a nice option if in the area looking for a healthy, freshly made option.
