The Best Mofongo in San Juan: 15 Spots to Try | Eater

"Next to La Verguenza, Palma el Rincón de Paco is a little restaurant that focuses on fresh, local products from Puerto Rico. Try the rich mofongo with lobster tail in salsa criolla, a perky sauce of garlic, peppers, and cilantro designed for fresh seafood, which adds zip to the mashed plantains. Order their abnormally large passionfruit margarita to kick off the night — strongly." - Gabriela Torres

Food was Amazing. Very attentive with their service. Passion fruit margarita was on point. Food was delicious and so perfectly flavorful and seasoned to perfection. And as a bonus we got to spend time with their cutie Mia 🥰 Best way to end our trip.

Outstanding seafood dishes in the Tanca street. Quick and friendly service, delivered by Diara, our waitress. The Mahi- Mahi in garlic sauce was fresh and savory. The Mixed Seafood with Creole sauce was also amazing. Recommended!

Google
Our favorite spot in Old San Juan 🇵🇷⭐️❤️ We’ve been here several times and the appetizers, main dishes, and drinks are consistently great! The seafood is fresh and tasty!! True Puertorican flavors and dishes. You can get beer, cocktails, or their famous Piña Colada that can be served in a cup or in an actual pineapple!! (There is a price difference). Nice sized plates!! There’s something for everyone and kids. Many of the staff knows English if you have any questions or need explanations. It’s located on a cobble stoned street on the corner with outdoor dining available. It’s Puerto Rico- it’s hot- get a cold drink and enjoy the vibes and the best food in Old San Juan!! Most of old San Juan is resident parking. There’s a municipal parking lot a couple of blocks away that’s cheap.

Google
Hands down the best piña colada in Puerto Rico and loved the coco rum added. I went to Barrachina and stood in line for over an hour and what a major disappointment! It did not live up to the hype! The bartender that invented the piña colada died many years ago and apparently the recipe died with him because what I tasted was a commercialized drink that was nothing more than mediocre.

Google
One of the best meals we have had in San Juan! The Octopus cocktail was perfect and everything in their Creole sauce had so much flavor! The service was also friendly and welcoming. I can't recommend this place more!

Google
It's only been a year that we were away from PR but had to get away to my favorite place ❤️. Although the decor has changed ALOT...the food has not. They make deeeeeelicious rice & beans and the shrimp cocktail is TO DIE FOR!!!. Excellent service continues and it was so nice to meet the owner (who actually made the beans). That shows a person who is totally involved in the business to ensure quality. When in San Juan you must stop by this place - just make sure to check the weekly operation hours.

We had a very good lunch. Creole food with enough portions to satisfy hunger. Today we tried a beef rebosada and a chicken milanesa, with rice mamposteado and batatitas fritas. To drink we chose the sangria tinta with prosecco. The staff is very friendly and they keep the place clean. We liked it very much. We will definitely come back.

Yelp
I love this spot for a quick drink and snack. They have delicious empanadillas and there's a lot of foot traffic to people watch.

Yelp
Fun bar with indoor and outdoor seating. The bar was well decorated and spacious, but it seemed like majority of the people were here for food and people would get drinks from the bar directly across. The bartender was friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was just right. Ordered local beer and mojito. Mojito was a bit sweet for me and I was told it's premade so he can't lessen the sugar. It was good, but preference wise I am just not a fan of sweet drinks. A cool bar again in a great local area. I would love to come back for drinks and try the food since it looked GOOD!

Yelp
first off the service was amazing. Martin was our server he was so nice and helpful. We are tourist and he helped us through the menu and helped us decided on Paella which was basically seafood rice. 10/10 it had lobster, shrimp, muscles, clams. The food was hot and the flavor was immaculate! I also ordered their pina colada in a pineapple which was very cute and good. If you're visiting I would definitely recommend coming in.

Yelp
Best grouper ceviche. So good served with pickled red onions, fresh mango and hot sauce. Loved it!

Yelp
We randomly found this super cute place walking around San Juan. We loved the lively but comfortable atmosphere. Everyone here was extremely friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our local craft beers, empanada, and pina colada! So glad we stopped here!

Yelp
We were looking for another restaurant but came up palmas as one of the servers was very welcoming. He was very kind and honest of what was available and what was best to eat at the restaurant. The restaurant was pretty quiet when we got there but got busier as tourist passed by and saw the food we're eating. I asked for carne fries but not available so for chicken strips with tostones with a suave that was delicious. I still am anger to enjoy my meal with my parcha which is very big juice flavor out there. My mom loved her shrimp manha, she cleaned the plate. We enjoyed the seating and the people passing back and forth. It was a nice lunch before leaving back home!

Yelp
I was accompanied by my pal and world renowned "Ceviche-Hands", this man knows everything about ceviche and has had ceviche around the globe. What I will say is that the waitress was wonderful, and very attentive to our needs.....however....we ordered two plates of ceviche and empanadillas and this is where it went down hill. First off we ordered a couple of piña coladas IN pineapples which were very underwhelming, and tasted more like juice than anything. Definitely not worth the hype. What I will say is that they had an abundance of different types of empanadillas. The best of which was the grouper. The rest of them were not good. In fact, our empanadillas were colder than a penguins toenails. The ceviche was actually decent and was a great size for 1-3 people, ceviche hands approved. That's a great sign....Overall I think this place is great to grab a beer at, the ambiance was enjoyable.

Yelp
BEST MOSCOW MULES we have ever had!!! The best fresh big pieces of fresh ginger and a beautiful agave straw with a gorgeous garnish of cinnamon stick and dried star fruit. Really nice people and they sell handmade jewelry too!
