The 11 Best Portuguese Restaurants In London - London - The Infatuation

"There are several Portuguese-run caffs in London, combining bacon butties with seafood petiscos. Palmeira in Leyton is a fantastic deli-cum-greasy spoon, popular with families and Orient fans on weekends, and locals popping by for coffee and a pastry during the week. All the British breakfast classics are present and correct (get an egg sandwich in a huge, crispy Portuguese roll), or opt for one of Portugal’s two standout sandwiches, the prego and bifana. The latter, when ordering the ‘especial’, is a behemoth: layers of juicy grilled pork heavily marinated in garlic and white wine, ham, melted cheese, lettuce, and a runny fried egg. Finish with a coffee or sweet treat—try the brilliantly fluffy rice muffin—and you’ll be out for a tenner." - tome morrissy swan

The Palmeira has just been refurbished, and the decor is beautiful. It was so warm and welcoming. The menu has so many options. Loaded fries were very tasty. Honey chicken burger was delicious, and the side sauce complimented the sweet savoury flavours. Richard and his team have done a fabulous job. Highly recommend a pop in.

Lovely refurb of the Palmiera! Lovely and fresh with some nice arty touches. Great deals for for food and drinks. Free pool on Tuesdays and lots of sport available. Fun for kids and a great spacey garden space out back too. Lovely friendly staff !

We've just moved to the area and this is our new local - a really lovely place with friendly staff, a varied (very reasonably priced!) menu that probably caters to most dietary preferences and plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. They also have some good offers on cocktails / the food menu. We recently had the Sunday roast, mac and cheese and chicken tenders and the food was all very tasty and just what we needed after a Devil's Dyke hike. We were particularly big fans of the Hazy Day IPA as well. All in all a great place with a welcoming atmosphere, can't fault it - we shall be back (frequently!).

My wife and I visited The Palmeira with some friends last Friday afternoon before going to the T20 cricket. The pub has been refurbished to a high standard and now looks great with plenty of comfy seating and attractive decor plus large screens for those wanting to watch the sport on TV. The food we had was nicely cooked and very tasty as well as being reasonably priced. Richard and his team were friendly, helpful and provided great service. They were also incredibly quick and attentive in helping my wife after she almost fainted as it was a very hot day when we visited. Richard and his team provided her with ice packs and even let her sit in the beer cellar for a while as it was much cooler in there and helped her to recover quickly. We couldn’t have asked for more and will definitely be returning soon. Fully recommend anyone to spend some time in The Palmeira, you won’t be disappointed.

We chose palmeira for lunch drinks and sandwiches. Waited 35 minutes before the manager came out to automatically give a refund. I said why didn’t you say the kitchen was taking so long. As there was 4 people in the pub at that time, and was only refunded the difference from my drinks to the lunch time menu. Terrible service will not be back there again. Avoid even on quiet days

Lovely pub with a great variety of drinks and pub food. It offers a beautiful ambiance with a nice traditional decor, hosts live sports, live music, pub quiz, has a pool table and board games also available. So you will not get bored ! I visited on a Monday lunch time which was quiet and chill. Seating is comfortable consisting of tables and chairs indoor and outdoor , couches , high chairs and tables, and benches in the beer backyard garden. The staff are welcoming, friendly and happy to serve you. They are knowledgeable about the menu and ready to answer your questions and help you choose they also checked on me after food was served. Their menus including a kids menu offer a great variety of food and drinks with reasonable prices. Cocktails are 6£ they also have non alcoholic options for 4 £. The place offers lunch sandwiches for 6 pounds, main dishes, burgers and platters for 9 to 15.5. Vegan vegetarian options are also available. My order: Strawberry and cranberry spritz 3.99£ . the shweppes lemonade dominated and I couldnt taste the cranberry but overall it was refreshing and nice. Super grain Salad 8.79£ : surprisingly healthy food in a pub i loved this item made my day as it is a mix of grains( lentils, quinoa, beans) with soft boneless chicken thighs marinated with mango and lime and glazed with a sweet chilli sauce. The dish also contains avocado slices, tomatoe, cucumber, rocket leaves and grilled onion and pepper. Food serving speed was quick which worries me and unfortunately everything was fresh, tasted great, the chicken was well cooked soft moist and hot except the grilled onion and the peppers smelled and tasted spoiled.
