The 11 Best Portuguese Restaurants In London

"There are several Portuguese-run caffs in London, combining bacon butties with seafood petiscos. Palmeira in Leyton is a fantastic deli-cum-greasy spoon, popular with families and Orient fans on weekends, and locals popping by for coffee and a pastry during the week. All the British breakfast classics are present and correct (get an egg sandwich in a huge, crispy Portuguese roll), or opt for one of Portugal’s two standout sandwiches, the prego and bifana. The latter, when ordering the ‘especial’, is a behemoth: layers of juicy grilled pork heavily marinated in garlic and white wine, ham, melted cheese, lettuce, and a runny fried egg. Finish with a coffee or sweet treat—try the brilliantly fluffy rice muffin—and you’ll be out for a tenner." - tome morrissy swan

Palmeira - Review - Leyton - London - The Infatuation

The latter, when ordering the ‘especial’, is a behemoth: layers of juicy grilled pork heavily marinated in garlic and white wine, ham, melted cheese, lettuce and a runny fried egg. It’s juicy, messy, heavenly. Finish with a coffee or sweet treat—try the brilliantly fluffy rice muffin—and you’ll be out for a tenner. The next door restaurant of the same name serves all the Portuguese classics, with added Madeiran favourites like limpets." - Tomé Morrissy-Swan

Been to the caffe endless times, i do my portuguese groceries shopping there, specifically wine. Been to the restaurant this past Sunday, last minute booking... It was the best decision ever. The service is just so nice and genuine, no rush and no upselling. Food was DELICIOUS, we devoured every single plate of food, from starters to main and desert 👌. Will be back again soon.

Visited the restaurant twice and it's our new favourite Portuguese restaurant in the area. The food it's delicious and well prepared, true Portuguese flavours and portions 👌. Beverages prices are also good. Will be returning again.

Great independent local Portuguese café with wonderful smiling efficient and nice people. Great coffees and typical Portuguese pastries. Definitely recommended if you are in the area. Great during the weekends, as it's well connected with Central line and there's car parking around as well.

Just had the best pastel de nata ever, I would say even better than some in Lisbon! Can't wait to return and try more of their Portuguese pastries. Friendly service too

A sensational little spot with fantastic customer service and a lovely atmosphere. We came here before an Orient game and it was just right. Super Bock on tap. Great sandwiches. Generous portions and excellent value for money.

Chicken escalope & half a pint of Super Bok. 10/10. The food was delicious, the beer was ice cold, and the staff were really polite and welcoming. Will definitely be coming back.
