The Seattle Karaoke Guide - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Say what you will about Microsoft’s HQ and Carrie Brownstein, but Palmers is objectively the best thing to come from Redmond. (OK, and maybe the direct current defibrillator.) At this dive, there are two guarantees: you will step on something sticky, and you will have the time of your life. Karaoke happens seven nights a week next to a huge, energetic dance floor, which means folks four whiskey gingers-deep will be grooving to your Bee Gees cover instead of mindlessly staring at you. It also means that the DJ will play actual dance tunes between karaoke songs. And there’s simply no greater thrill than jumping up and down to “Sandstorm” on full blast after someone butchers “Creep” so badly it hurts your teeth." - aimee rizzo

This is a nice little laid back restaurant. It looks like a sports bar on the inside and a nice cafe on the outside. My friend and I went during lunch hour and it wasn’t busy, we sat outside where there were flower baskets along the edges of the seating area. I felt so good eating there, it had a tranquil feel. The food was delicious and customer service great! My old fashion wasn’t the greatest but I like that they didn’t skimp on the alcohol lol

Google
We only ordered a couple of beers, but there was only one woman serving. She had a smile and was very friendly, but she was very busy since we were there several times. It seems like it's a local place, and people enjoyed being there. I definitely recommend it.

Google
Incredible atmosphere with awesome food, drinks, and service. The drinks were fairly strong and the food was excellent especially for the happy hour price, including the cheese curds (4/5), the fried pickles (4/5), and the pretzel (4/5). The service here however really makes everything shine - the bartenders and the people here are super nice. You feel really welcomed.

Best hash browns and biscuits I've ever had! Chicken Fried Steak exceeded my expectations, and real sausage gravy. My meal was incredibly good value for money, absolutely delicious and no long brunch wait to be seated! This is definitely an excellent alternative to Village Square Cafe and ever other American breakfast shop in the area. The quality of the food and excellence of the atmosphere and service blew me away. If you want a great breakfast go here! The service was friendly, attentive, and quick! The bartender who ran my food out to my table checked with me every time he walked by to make sure I was taken care of. The waitress was also hilarious, she has such a fun personality singing along on occasion with the American music from the 60s through 90s. I kid you not at one point Tuti Fruiti was going and she sung along with Little Richard. A moment later she was asking if I wanted a frosted mug for my beverage. When I accidentally nudged half of my biscuit onto the table they thoughtfully replaced it! So kind! I went for breakfast sometime around 10 to 2 ish and it was very quiet. Few regulars and the music was not too loud. Unfortunately, kids cannot eat inside, due to it being a bar, but they can be served on the patio it looks like. Great patio with umbrellas. I discovered this gem last week, having lived here for years, and mistaking it for a dive-light bar, because I had only ever walked by in the evening.

Google
The beginning was fine. After we got our drinks, it took 25 minutes for them to ask (at the bar) if we wanted anything else. We decided to play some pull tabs. We won some money which was awesome. We told the bartender lady in red hair that we wanted to keep playing. She ended up giving us the winnings from the pull tabs and gave us our bill…. They cater to locals here. I’ll never stop by again after this experience. Such a high bill for 2 drinks and a appetizer…

As a veteran of this place…it’s sad to see negative reviews. We moved out of the area but still make sure to be at this bar every time we are in town. All service, food, ambiance and prices are Excellent. Thomas is a very hardworking owner and care about his customers and employees.

Google
Open late! It's a dive bar. I wasn't expecting much in terms of food, but that mushroom burger slaps. The skeleton crew that runs the place still keeps it flowing, and is pretty cheery. Beer recommendations are on point. Can't wait to bring the rest of the crew. And they had festive lights outside! There's a huge free parking lot behind the tipsy cow; or just walk, it's downtown!

Yelp
Stopped in on a Sunday after leaving Northwest Brewing for bad service! Walked into Palmers and it was like getting home after a bad day at work. Welcomed by the BT Maya. Super friendly helpful and beautiful smile. Appetizers were on point and the pitcher of Bodi was chill. Plus they have karaoke every night! Love this place!

Yelp
Made sure to get a picture before tucking in to the prime rib. This is probably the best dinner deal in Redmond.

Yelp
Slow service and the food wasn't very good at all. I didn't go inside at all but the ambiance of the outdoor seating area was fine. Seems like people definitely go here more for the stuff drinks than for the food.

Yelp
I'm not one to write reviews, especially since I've loved coming here ever since I turned 21... One night I was out with a bunch of my friends for their birthday. I ordered a double and it tasted like a double. Ordered another double, again, it had 2 shots. Maybe its because I pound drinks, but all the rest of the drinks i ordered were WEAK - couldn't even taste the liquor. I ended up getting 6 doubles (12 shots) and was sober by the time i left. I should have been floored. We were only there for 2.5 hours. The bill was about $130 for my drinks. I even had all my friends taste the drinks to solidify my opinion that there was barely/no alcohol in them. The bartender even has the audacity to tell me to pace myself and drink water. I knew there was nothing I could have said to the bartender to convince them that I was sober. I want to come here again, but after paying $100 for cranberry juice and being belittled, AND missing out on jello-shots because they were "out" (it was 7pm), I don't think it worth the investment... EDIT: I would edit my review since I have been a loyal customer to Palmers for the past 4 years, my boyfriend and I even had our first date here, but one bad experience was enough to negate all the great things that have happened to me in the past. The response from the owner has solidified the fact that there was no regard for accountability and instead values blame to others. Also, weird how much of a deep dive the owner took into finding every drink that I ordered. Take my review with a grain of salt. The food is good, the drinks are strong (when made correctly), and karaoke is surely a source of nightly entertainment. I understand the law of refusing to sell alcohol to those visibly intoxicated, but I had no slurred speech, there was no instability with standing, and I was able to have an "intelligent" conversation with Tim after he told me to pace myself. I was barely tipsy... I did buy 2 doubles with my card; however, 4 doubles and a shot were bought for me. I'm sure the owner can fact check me by reviewing the video footage and see my group sitting at the booth where I proceed to receive my drinks. The video also shows how most of my friends tried my drinks with distain. The drinks cost around $8 a shot. My math seems correct if I'm basing everything off tax estimates and a 20% tip... My intent was not to slander a small business but rather highlight that something was not right that night. Now I'm more uncomfortable with the response than overpaying for watered down drinks.

Yelp
Great comfy bar! The staff have great vibes and are very attentive. They have specials every day with a standard American food menu that is affordable and yummy. We got got the cheeseburger with bacon and spicy sriracha fries (they have a good kick for sure) and the western burger with garlic fries. It was all solid good food, very flavorful and great for the price. The music can be a tad too loud when you just want to go to converse with friends but that's because they bring the DJ in around 8pm and they have karaoke at 9pm every night. Other lil tidbits, there's one pool table in the back. There's parking on the street and in the lot across the street.

Yelp
First, the drinks here are really good! I got the shameless skittle one, and it tasted amazing. The cider wasn't bad either. The tacos were overcrowded with onions. You can tell by the picture that about 2/3 of the taco was onion. They seem to have some pretty good deals that I'm willing to come check out at a later time, even breakfast! The bar stool seating in the middle is a little close to each other. So getting in and out is a little difficult. All in all, though, it was just okay. Enough for me to be curious to return!

Yelp
I have been coming to Palmers since I moved here 14 years ago...if you are looking fora home bar with great prices, good staff, great food and nightly karaoke, look no further. I have made some great friends there and would recommend it highly! Also, best breakfast anywhere nearby at a very good price!

Yelp
Although i'm not a common drinker, I do enjoy watching the karaoke here. The atmosphere is good, though drunk adults can cause a ruckus at any time. A special thanks to Shane, a bartender who's always looked after me in times where I did decide to get sh*t faced here. He's a sweetheart and so are the others. I'll continue to come here for the foreseeable future.

Cliff H.

Yelp
Don't go to Palmer's if you are an over 40 white male like me. You'll just get harassed by their staff and patrons. I went there last night for some pool, karaoke, and to just meet some nice people. I had two twenty-something males harass me. One playing pool, saying I say the N word a lot, which I don't, and don't recommend. One tall goofy fuker at the bar saying I roof-ied his girlfriends drink, which I did not and is a felony crime, or something stupid. He was trying to pick a fight. I almost called the cops, but took care of him myself. And then walked out forever after leaving 0 tip. The two male bartenders are condescending dbags who talk to me literally like I am a child. The only nice people that work there are the two women bartenders, and the karaoke people. If I go back, and I likely won't, I am going with two ex-Marines, and see how much dudes want to talk shit then. Skip this dump and go to the Matador or Redmond Pub, both down the the street. Otherwise the gen z'ers will harass you too, because being mean is what they seem best at, really.

Yelp
My friend and I had a great time here and really enjoyed the atmosphere, great service, and the fun trivia night. The food sounds amazing, so I can't wait to come back for that (in-house Prime Rib!). They have a ton of great specials, including a burger special discount for motorcyclists and bicycle riders. Shout out to Marcus and crew for your friendly hospitality and great service!

Yelp
This is the only place open every night until 1am in Redmond. And yes, the have karaoke every night. It's divey but... didn't I mention is the o my one open? Beggars can't be choosers. Service is on par with any other divey bar. I've seen people ordering food but I've never tried it so I can't say if good or bad.

Yelp
I've heard good things about Palmers and appreciate a good dive bar. They have a parking lot across the street which is convenient since street parking is limited. They also have TV's which is good for catching a game. The food was decent and they have a good selection of local beers. The reason I'm giving them three stars is because of the bait and switch when it comes to pricing. I ordered the soup and salad, which they charged me for. They also added an extra surcharge for soup and another one for the salad. I've never been charged extra for ordering something straight off the menu so these two extra surprise charges were unexpected and disappointing. I usually bring this up to the staff, but they couldn't keep up with the orders which meant that many customers had to wait quite awhile for their orders. They could probably use an extra bartender, although I know how tough it is to find staff so I don't blame them for the wait times.

Yelp
GREAT breakfast and wonderful staff! The burger and cheese steak was amazing, clam strips (just having clam strips is a win) and Chicken Fried Steak were perfect too. Bloody Mary was a delight, and my family enjoyed the mimosas.

Robert B.

Yelp
Awesome place! Wait people are phenomenal!!! Best food, service and environment. The ambiance is great. A good old-time place.

Yelp
Great neighborhood bar with really good food. The servers working the days are especially amazing!

Kortni P.

Yelp
The beer cheese for the pretzel app came out cold, the fries were grease sodden and tasted like they had been fried, cooled, and refried to be warmed up. The chicken sandwich is a frozen, processed chicken patty, as we're the burgers. Overpriced freezer food. Extremely disappointed, 0/10, do not recommend.
google avatar

Alissa S.

Yelp
Nice dive bar with nightly karaoke. Friendly bar staff. Can get very busy. Food is okay, had a burger that was slightly burnt. Lots of pull tabs to play from. Beer on tap.

Yelp
100% will return again. Service was great, and the food was also surprisingly good! Everything is SO affordable so there really isn't a reason you shouldn't try this place out. 3 beers, 2 ciders, and 2 entrees (Reuben and French dip) were $50! Only sat on the outdoor patio, but it was comfortable. They have tents up and heaters still!
google avatar

Yelp
Absolute favorite hangout in Redmond! The nicest staff, a dedicated owner who takes pride in everything he does, good food and very affordable. Karaoke after 9pm draws a young crowd, and people from all walks of life and all ages enjoy the place. Kids are welcome in the restaurant during breakfast and the day, and outside seating is a favorite for dog owners and people watchers.

wendell j.

Yelp
Outstanding tavern breakfast, no waiting on Sunday for pancakes, bacon, and eggs. Excellent Bloody Mary!

Yelp
I was happy to find palmers east close to my office when I needed a place for lunch meeting. Extremely dive bar type place. Felt good vibes as soon as I walked in. The service was fantastic. The food was affordably priced, but it was very average. I ordered the French dip and I would probably eat it again but it didn't taste that good overall. However because the service was so good and our waitress was very attentive I'd like to write Palmer these 3 1/2 stars. Does anybody know how to add the half star?
google avatar

Micah B.

Yelp
It's a classic dive bar situation. Set your expectations accordingly, I'd say just an ounce rougher around those edges than Daman's. In my previous visit I went later in the evening, it was WAY too loud, probably because karaoke, so if you wish to preserve your hearing, earplugs are a must. I wasn't impressed with the first visit on the drink prices. This time I stuck to Truly and that was a lot better. It's really not a place to get a Manhattan, but a beer / seltzer place. Learned that lesson. Typical bar food that didn't appear too gross, although for those trying to avoid carbs it'll be difficult to avoid like most places. Didn't venture too much into the menu as I wasn't super hungry today. It's a good place I suppose, I prefer the patio area over the inside and will continue to want to be there instead of inside so long as that's the option.

Victoria R.

Yelp
The best dive bar. My husband and I often visit the area for work, on our first visit to palmers it was past 11 and the kitchen had closed. We had been traveling all day, and they made me a special meal. Above and beyond customer service! The food was great, drinks a plenty and karaoke. We make it a point to visit every time we are in town.
google avatar

Donna H.

Yelp
This place is spectacular when it comes to food and service. The crowd is local and it's a bar scene for sure. A bit of a dive bar/diner on the interior with really lovely outdoor seating and umbrella and heaters. The food for breakfast/brunch was some of the best I've had. They are willing to make everything to order so have a drink or two while you wait - it's well worth it. The servers are all the mix of Mel's Diner grovel with big belly laughs and hugs for the locals. A place where everyone does know your name. While the food was amazing, it's the company that keeps bringing people back. I imagine it's a great hang for Karaoke as well.

Yelp
Staying in Redmond for work for a couple weeks so I've been here a few times. Cheap drinks, pool table, and karaoke 7 days a week. Great vibes every time I've come here and you'll definitely meet interesting people from all walks of life here. Michael, Robert, and the rest of the staff are awesome! Great spot to blow off some steam after long work week!

Cyrus C.

Yelp
Man, Palmer's rocks. I've only been there a handful of times, but the staff is always so welcoming and attentive.Highly recommend everything, especially Big John hosting karaoke 7 days a week! Dude really knows how to start a party hahaha.

Audrey M.

Yelp
Great and fast service. Nice deal on food especially for location very clean and would recommend. Been back multiple times

Kyle M.

Yelp
Great friendly environment. Chase and Katie are the best day time servers around town.

Yelp
We popped into Palmers East last weekend on Friday night and the place was cracking. We had a sandwich and fries that were 5/5, there was karaoke and dancing and the bartenders that we worked with were chill despite the long line. If I lived closer I would frequent this place.
google avatar

William V.

Yelp
It was a lovely evening so we gave Palmers a chance to prove themselves. I'm afraid they fell short. We waited 20 minutes before a waitress took our drink order. It took ten minutes to get a couple glasses of water and another half hour to get our food. I asked if they had cocktail sauce for the fish and chips. The waitress said "Sure. No problem." She came back ten minutes later and said they didn't but had horseradish. "That's fine." Another long wait later she brought our food without either. Then she disappeared. We made do and finally gave up waiting for a check. We left enough cash on the table. The tacos were ordinary, the fish and chips, pedestrian. The seating is in a busy street and (apparently) near a pot shop and where people smoked cigarettes upwind. We were lucky to get a parking place in their dedicated lot. I doubt if we'll be back. Age Range: not approximate for kids

Steve C.

Yelp
I come by for lunch a couple of times per week, the food is consistently good and the service is my favorite in town! They always make you feel at home with an upbeat and welcoming attitude. It's very easy to feel at home here and I look forward to my weekly lunches! And, best Karaoke in Redmond if you come at night! Great people, come say hello!

Shelly M.

Yelp
I am part of a group who visits Palmers often and have made lots of friends there as well. I have been coming in for several years and have always had a good experience. The bouncers and bartenders/waitstaff are wonderful (as long as you are behaving!) :) I am a big karaoke fan and I enjoy all of the karaoke DJs. Sometimes they get a little silly but I find it entertaining. I also love that they have a decent size dance floor. It is almost like a big family and I always feel safe.

Jaret R.

Yelp
Katie I guess aka Momma Chicken?? Was amazing the way she managed the whole bar was unreal...

Mary D.

Yelp
I've lived on the Eastside of Seattle for more than 20 years, walked past this place countless times and never stopped in until this week. My husband, son and I were looking for an unpretentious place to eat a late lunch at reasonable prices. Lots of online reviewers commented that this is a total dive bar but has great food and friendly service. They were correct. We really enjoyed our club sandwich, patty melt and tuna melt (each served with fries). Definitely better food than at many of the fancy restaurants in downtown Redmond or Kirkland. Our servers were attentive and congenial. As for the ambiance, oh yeah, it's a total dive. We expected the place to be dead on a Monday afternoon but there was a crowd of senior citizens who, in the words of Judas Priest ("Livin' After Midnight") appeared to be "loaded, loaded!" long before sunset, let alone midnight. That was actually kind of funny. Anyway, we won't be visiting for the nightly karaoke action but yes, we'll probably return for a tasty, old-school lunch or breakfast.
google avatar

Neil M.

Yelp
This bar has great framework for the ideal dive bar but the staff is super pretentious. I don't recommend for groups or individuals looking to to have fun.f Ty

Rachel Macie H.

Yelp
What you would expect to find at a dive bar wile wondering the streets of a place you just kinda ended up because it's open and they have drinks to satisfy all those with thirsty gambling needs! We were just bar hopping around and found this little place with the karaoke going and cold brew this was also my first discovery of what is known as the Washington State lottery's smartest idea ever to get the drunk people to spend money on pull tabs of various characters and themes in hopes of you'll make some cash back! Umm I guess it's a way to spend your time in the bar in between beers which is all good in it's gambling way! Pretty much we just stopped here for a bit wile circling the area on this night as you can go on a bar walkabout with out a good dive bar here and there especially in a area where there isn't much of much to find at the late hours! Overall great little bar to get your drink on!
google avatar

Lea G.

Yelp
What can I say? This place is your typical dive bar. We decided to come here Friday night after seeing their special was prime rib! We came early, 6 PM. We ordered a couple of beers and were served right away by a very attentive bartender. We ordered two prime ribs. They came with baked potato and a side salad. $11.99! That's right folks 12 bucks for prime rib. We opted to get a bowl of Ivar's clam chowder as well. The chowder was tasty. It was Ivars after all. The prime ribs were very generous portion. They came medium rare as requested with aus jus and straight horseradish! Maybe ask for some mayo to mix next time ha ha. The prime rib was tender and very enjoyable. Would try this place again. Being a bar, it had a lot of regulars, There is a pool table and a karaoke at night. Good deal.

Erika P.

Yelp
We went with friends for karaoke, and thanks to the karaoke jockey (KJ) who constantly cracked misogynistic "jokes" - especially when women were singing - we won't be back. The rest of the staff were very friendly and the prices, beer, and fried food were good, but the KJ ruined the experience. He also played everything far too loud, drowning out conversations.

Yelp
Not gonna lie, Palmers East is my jam in Redmond. I like dive bars, and Palmers is just that. My friends and I came here for post-event beers and it was a fun time! Just like any dive bar, the drinks are super cheap, with prices that would be happy hour anywhere else, with loud karaoke and old school beats in between. I dig it! The DJ was very engaging with the audience and often sang with the karaoke goers. Yes, the space isn't the most spacious nor is it roomy, especially when it hits close to midnight, so it can get super warm and sweaty. But it's a dive bar. What do you expect? Anywhere with cheap drinks, fun music and chill people is my kind of scene. I'll always go to Palmer's whenever I'm having a night out in Redmond.

Madison Q.

Yelp
Never been anything but a good customer, respectful, good tipper. But when a bartender tried to keep steal my change, thinking I won't remember and I stand up for myself I am the bad guy.
google avatar

Dave G.

Yelp
As a Karaoke dive bar, Palmers is tops. The singing talent here is pretty good, beer is reasonably cheap and plentiful . Standard bar fare but there are better eateries nearby - come here for the entertainment!
google avatar

Jill B.

Yelp
We came on a Friday night for a few drinks and had a good time. It's sort of run down and maybe a little sticky but the bartenders were very friendly and they had karaoke start at 9pm which was so entertaining. I got a lemon drop for $8.50 and my husband's beers were between $5-6 each. Pretty great prices for the area. Definitely want to come back with a group for karaoke another time.

Paul H.

Yelp
We are visiting from Palm Springs California and turn to yelp for assistance for a Friday night dinner. First thing right out of the box the $15.99 prime rib on Friday night is the best deal you will find in town.! Service was excellent ice cold beer. Kind of that old pub style and flavor but the food was very good and we would come back again.

McKenzie F.

Yelp
Food wasn't that great... drinks were water down.. not ever impressed.. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone from outta town visiting...

Vicky N.

Yelp
Omg - just had a burger and two beers at Palmers. I used to go there for there inexpensive food prices & good beer! I was shocked and disgusted- listening to the waitress- talk to 2 guys next to me. Flirting is one thing - but every other word was - lick - or suck - etc. Really? I did not here one appropriate word come out of her mouth. Normally that does not bother me - if the conversation is light & funny - but every statement from her mouth was - her doing one sex act or another to them - in their bathroom. Really - I am not a prude - but I don't need to hear and/or watch waitress trying to get bigger tips by talking disgusting to two men at her bar. I did not here or see any other wait staff - talking in this manor. I left the bar feeling dirty & disgusting.

Yelp
What ever happened to Palmers West? Or was it perhaps just "Palmers"? There is some part of me that thinks Palmers was owned by Greg Palmer, the guy who did movie reviews locally a number of years ago, but I really can't back that thought with any facts. Anyways, as to the review of the bar... I've been a few times and really appreciate Palmers. It's one of the few places left in Redmond that aren't fancy gastropub experiences. You can get an affordable beer, even a Rainier, on tap and maybe listen to some decent live music, if you plan your trip right. I think some would jump to judge this a dive bar, as for me I do not. Although I have not been in the day, I cannot imagine that a whole lot of day drinking goes on here? It doesn't smell bad? It actually has decent food, which I believe disqualifies it as a dive bar. So, in the end, the beer you drink here will make you a better person.
google avatar

Gary F.

Yelp
Palmers offers a nice contrast from the typical Eastside eatery or bar. It is not gentrified and even has a bit of a roadhouse vibe. The drinks and food are reasonably priced (particularly when viewed against the Redmond, Bellevue, Kirkland competition), and the people are friendly. During the weekdays it has something of a cafe vibe, but Friday and Saturday night it's packed and jumping. Breakfast is good and I've had the prime rib for dinner which was also really good. To be honest I lowered my expectations thinking a tavern prime rib might not be that great, but I was wrong, it was cooked to perfection, not overdone, tender and juicy.
