The 15 Best Breweries in Charleston - Eater Carolinas

"The oldest brewery in Charleston, Palmetto Brewing sits on Huger St. in a once underdeveloped area and now under new ownership, Made By The Water, LLC which also owns Oyster City Brewing Co. With new businesses and residential apartments popping up, Palmetto Brewing is becoming more of a local hang out rather than a destination. Tap line consists of the legacy Palmetto Brewing beers like Huger St. IPA and the Espresso Porter alongside Catawba Brewing beers and now will also include Oyster City brews" - Barbara Skidmore

Came here to see a friend play on a weekday. They a lot of outdoor and indoor seating available. It was a really nice day so I ordered a beer from the counter and sat outside to enjoy the music. They had a decent beer selection and the girl that helped me was friendly and let me sample a beer before getting it. I didn’t order any food so I’m looking forward to trying some of that next time. They had benches outside and it’s a dog friendly place. I also loved that they had cornhole and so we got to play that as well. This place seems like a good hangout spot on a nice day to enjoy some live music.

Google
Dogs love it here. Some lay their heads on tables. Others nap under barstools. Some dance. Because that’s what we should all do at this place…dance. Why not? You only live once. Just let it out. Cause who knows…some human might come along and take it all away just like that. And then no more dancing. The beer is good.

Google
We come here at least once a month! The food truck outside is so good it’s a perfect combo with their excellent beer selection 🍔🍺 in addition to cult classic like the Huger Street IPA, this place also carries a variety of seltzers! There are always cute dogs and they have plenty of indoor/outdoor seating.

We are locals and absolutely love this brewery! Great beers, beautiful outdoor space, and love that they are also dog friendly! We recently rented out their front room for a private wedding welcome party on 10/11/24 and had an absolute blast! Lauren, Leslie, and their team were super accommodating and easy to work with! They were very quick to respond to our emails and answer all of our questions. They handled our group of 100+ people easily and professionally. Everything was very nice and well organized. Plenty of parking and seating inside the main room. Would highly recommend checking out this brewery in general, but also for your future private events! Thanks guys for a great night!!

Google
Cute brewery - we went on a Sunday afternoon and the side brewery was open. My partner and I both had two drinks each - I had a sour and a cider. Both were great. We spent a few hours here having drinks, playing card games, and singing along to the music. Great space.

I usually don’t leave reviews but I felt compelled to leave feedback after visiting this establishment. The service I received was absolutely atrocious! The taproom was not busy, no one waiting in line and only 3 people sitting at the bar. Beer tender never even looked at me to acknowledge that a customer had sat down. He then walked away and left the bar for about 10 minutes. While he was gone several people walked in and started to wait in line so I got from the bar to place my order. I ordered a flight and told the gentleman that I was sitting at the bar. He told me to come back to pick up my flight…. I am not making this up. All that said the beer was so so.

Kiara Boggs

Google
Neat brewery, smaller tap list but everything we got in the taster flight was pretty good. Everyone had a happy vibe, seems like a regular local hangout spot. Great place to finish off the night

Google
The hush puppies were burned, and I had to send them back. Also, my ribs were burned to a black crisp, and I had to send them back. My drink was very good. I guess in order to enjoy the food you will have to be totally drunk. They were inedible if you just come by and have dinner.😩😫😖😠 The service was great (that's all I can say I enjoyed). I will not be coming back

Yelp
Very familiar with Palmetto beer from being so accessible around Charleston, but our first time at the physical location. Absolutely didn't disappoint! SO much space - from the outside area, to the back bar and the front space, which was set up with local vendors in the Saturday we came. Especially loved being able to bring our dog and see other furry friends as well. Staff was so chill and looked like they were having so fun behind the bar which always add to the energy!

Yelp
I can here today with a friend and my baby to check out the fall vegan market! There were so many great vendors. I have enjoyed Palmetto Brewing beers before but finally got to do so at the actual brewery! Lots of space outside although we opted to sit inside. I had the Oktoberfest which was really good. This place is kid friendly and I also appreciated that the JMU game was on!

Michael M.

Yelp
Unique and flavorful beer selection. Not just IPA's like a lot of places. Food truck serves great food. Friendly service. Popular place for regulars. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Super friendly place, a great selection of beer and a food truck outside. What more do I need?!
google avatar

Karley M.

Yelp
Great brewery tucked away in a quiet part of Charleston. We enjoyed hanging inside and playing games while enjoying some IPAs. Lots of other options as well! The outdoor beer garden was great for a nice day and is dog friendly!

Yelp
Its a good, easy to get to brewery downtown without all the tourist crowds. It's quite small in terms of seating inside and out. A smaller menu as well, I wasnt over the moon with their sour beer. Parking is apparent, which is under the nearby bridge. I'd be a little concerned about it after dark for sure. It is also unpaved and can be muddy after a rain.

Yelp
Palmetto has a great selection of brews and is one of the "original" Charleston breweries. It's South Carolina's oldest brewery, so it's been around long before "brewery districts" and brewery trams that run on Saturday. You'll find any style of beer here, including several small batch/limited edition brews (10 oz. pours). On my last visit, I had the small-batch Blackberry sour and really enjoyed it. A new food truck called Gobble Gobble has taken up residency here, replacing the rotating food trucks that used to park out front. Events wise, Palmetto hosts lots of craft/maker's markets, and they have live music as well as trivia on certain nights of the week. I'm not sure if there's a happy hour, but certain pints are discounted (I believe $4) before 4 PM. That makes Palmetto a great place to start drinking- and you can't drink all night if you don't start early. The only downside to Palmetto is the parking/flooding situation. The parking lot is underneath an overpass, so if it rains, it is very muddy and your car and shoes will get dirty. In addition, Huger street is known to flood, but if it's a sunny day, Palmetto is a must-visit for any beer fan.

Yelp
Very nice carriage ride through Charleston. Our driver was very knowledgeable and funny. Love that they take such good care of the horses. Nice way to learn a little history and sightsee.

Yelp
Dog heaven is the first thing that comes to mind after spending time at Palmetto Brewing Co. we sat outside on the patio, got food from the Gobble Gone food truck, and enjoyed all of the dogs who were hanging out while their owners enjoyed a brewskie. Because I don't drink, I can't speak to the beer itself, but as a whole, this brewery is a fun place to hang with friends.

Yelp
I wanted to try the local brewery during my time here, so a local friend of mine picked me up and took me here to the Palmetto Brewery here in Charleston, South Carolina. The parking lot was kind of sketchy, especially when you had more than 2 drinks. Local breweries are fun, aren't they? It usually gives the spice of the community and the drinks are usually hard to pronounce on occasion, especially when you can't see very well after having a bunch. Needless to say that I stopped at 2 drinks for the night and can manage to walk to the car without much effort. With that said, my friend and I arrived here around 6pm. The Charleston Beer runners usually meet here for their Thursday run, so it was nice to meet some of them here at the Palmetto Brewery after they had finished. You know that saying goes, "I feel alone in a crowd of people"? It feels like that when I'm in this kind of atmosphere. Sure the beers and stuff is great, but if you're drinking alone in a pub like this, it feels like this sometimes before the people you know come back after 45 minutes. Still, I sat there on the outside area enjoying my brews and looking at my phone during the time I was alone. Guess that's how it is when you're the new guy in town. It is what it is, but its okay though. I had my brews and I was charged $15.00 for 2 drinks, which isn't terrible, but not cheap either. The overall experience here at the Palmetto Brewery was okay, even though for reasons mentioned above that being the new kid kind of sucked sometimes drinking alone. When I got to meet the other Charleston Beer runners that evening, it was nice and not as awkward, since I knew some local area runners now. What I learned about this place is that you go up to the counter were the plethora of beer names jump out at you like a billboard on steroids, order what you want, and you can ask if you want to start a tab for the night. I was glad that it wasn't raining that night, so it was almost perfect to come here. The brews were fairly good and definitely a interesting taste and departure to the usual beers and IPA's that are known for their distinctive tastes. Sometimes, change is good. The service was really touch and go that evening I was there, since the staff behind the bar was running around and I didn't know who was coming or going. It was friendly and casual. Quite interesting, but then again, I usually don't frequent the bar scene. But still, it was nice to sit here after a day of travel to relax and refresh myself with a couple beers before heading back to the hotel. During my time here, I ended up purchasing dinner from the nearby food truck, which was convenient. Food and beer makes all the difference sometimes! If you are a beer connoisseur and are in the Charleston, South Carolina area, consider coming to the Palmetto Brewery. The Palmetto Brewery is located at 289 Huger Street, Charleston, South Carolina. The parking lot area is basically underneath the I-26. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. The area seemed to be a ghost town after dark and it seemed kind of sketchy in a semi industrial area too. As far as parking goes, they literally have parking that will fit about 20 or so cars at any given time underneath I-26. Other than that, you're on street parking where you can find it. If you are big on the CARTA bus, consider the routes that are optimized for you to get here. Not sure if the DASH shuttles run through this area, but worth a shot to look and confirm. For the most part though, while I might have been a downer here, I just chalk it up to be the newbie in town and not really knowing the locals who frequent here. The ambiance was nice though and at least I got to sit at a table all to myself during the entire time I was there versus standing around with beer in hand when everyone else was sitting and chatting. They had a live band here playing while I was there, which was pretty cool too. 4.0 stars for the overall experience and the service was good too. 3.5 stars for the prices. 4.5 stars for the beer. 4.0 stars for the live band and the ambiance. Support local! B

Yelp
Palmetto Brewing Co is such a great vibe! The bartenders are knowledgeable and very welcoming. Phillip was a huge help and suggested a great beer that I loved. There are lots of beer options on tap and in cans; wine and seltzers are also available. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
I was so happy to have stumbled across this place! The beer selection was fantastic, even having some from other breweries. Everything I tried was top notch and the atmosphere was fantastic with friendly service and even a stage outside. Will definitely come back next time I'm in town!

Stump S.

Yelp
Born and raised in Charleston, returned home with my wife for vacation only to be harassed and bullied by an employee who clocked out only to sit on the bar side of the brewery and make a decent evening political. Thankfully his girlfriend could tame him enough to silence his harassment enough to make him leave. There is no place for politics in customer service and especially when that employee himself became a customer. Find another brewery.

Yelp
Friendly and attentive staff, inviting atmosphere. Plenty of brews ranging from sours to IPA's. Proximity to the Joe makes it a must before a Riverdogs game!

Yelp
Nice brewery. I tried the pumpkin porter, very good. Hubby enjoyed his ipa. Main taproom and a speakeasy towards back. Live music and food truck. Plenty of seating.
google avatar

Taylor B.

Yelp
Dog friendly, plenty of indoor seating, lots of options for beer, including some guest taps. Flights, half pours, and full pours available. Great beer, especially the pumpkin ones during the fall!
google avatar

Natasha G.

Yelp
Great spot to have a few beers, sample a few brews, enjoy live music and play a table game or two. When you walk in you arrive to a large gathering space filled with table games, cheers and laughter and live music. I found my way towards the back to where the beer on tap was and decided to have a flight to see what I've been missing. We were helped from beginning to end to help find the best selection for our flight, tailored to our likes. The back was more low key and perfect for a more intimate group/couple interaction.

Yelp
Aw Palmetto of all the years I lived in Charleston and even to today when my family makes trips to the city, you are still one of the stops to make before leaving. The variety of beer is amazing and they all have their own distinct flavor and profile, pretty sure at this point I've tried them all, haha. The food truck options are also great when needing a bite. I always enjoyed the bartenders every one is friendly and always down for a conversation or suggestion of beer. The environment is a perfect mix of fun but still casual, making it a great place for any occasion. I'll be back soon for another brew!

Yelp
Breweries like Palmetto is what make Charleston such a great microbrew city. I've been a fan of Oyster City Brewing Company in Apalachicola for years. Now that they've joined forces with Palmetto meant that I had to pay them a visit while in town, and I'm glad I did! Great space, awesome service and even better beers, including a couple of my OCBC favorites. I couldn't resist the coffee blonde and the amber. Both were exceptional... and getting them for $4 as part of the Monday special made them that much better! Great looking food truck out front, too!!!
google avatar

Yelp
When we stopped into Palmetto Brewery it was very hot and sunny; nearly all indoor seating was taken and shaded outdoor seating was taken. The indoor section was not air-conditioned so it was not overly comfortable to hang out to drink. We had just one pint as it really was hot and sticky. Palmetto was the first microbrewery in Charleston. We had the Lowcountry Lager, it was a good beer with a nice finish but nothing too special. I generally prefer IPAs and Porters but it was too hot to drink one. Overall, we liked the facility and the Lager was good but Palmetto needs another visit and more time spent there.
google avatar

Erin M.

Yelp
According to what we heard, this was the 1st brewery in Charleston. This place is huge with 2 separate tap house areas and an outside deck. They had so many options to choose from it was hard to narrow down my flight to 6. I ended up with the tasty malty variety from porters to stouts. My friend ended up with a nice variety of IPA's. We had the opportunity to talk with some locals that gave us great advice on where to go, what to see, and where to eat. The locals were way more friendlier than the lady that was serving us. That was the bummer admits great brews.
google avatar

Lily F.

Yelp
We tried them all. A flight of 16 beers. 16 beers sounds like a lot but it's really just 2 pints, right? First thing that stuck out the most for me was the PB&J beer taste just like PB&J. I don't know how...but it did. And some other honorable mentions were the Mango IPA, white zombie and the Huger St. IPA. Didn't care for the Esp Porter. Bleh. After coming from Revelry Brewing, Palmetto was a lot quieter and more chill. It could have been because it was St. Patty's day, but I actually prefer this place more because of that. The live music was a lot quieter and more conducive to having conversations instead of yelling across the room.

Yelp
What a nice large brewery! Came here at night before they closed to grab a quick beer with the fam. Found them on yelp due to they had the highest rating as a brewery in the area. I understood why. Their beers were absolutely fantastic. Got a flight to try all the beers and my hubby got the idle speed salted lime lager. That one was awesome. My flight consisted of: Rasberry rewind: a wheat ale I can drink on any summer day in Miami. Peanut Butter Jelly time: my favorite beer I've had in a long time. Tasted just like peanut butter but not over powering. It was subtle but amazing. It was so good. I hope they bottle that and send it to Miami. West Coast DIPA which was a regular beer good nothing spectacular but solid. Last but not least the Mango ipa which had also nice flavors of mango without being over powering. Also easy to drink. The brewery itself is huge and had a lot of space. We played available board games in the game area. Our kids were able to play and mess around there. It was great. Recommend to all.
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
One of my absolute favorite breweries I've ever been to. Love the the environment. Love the beer. The staff has been great. I have no complaints. Our first visit was January 2020. Place had a decent crowd at night and a had a solid band playing on the stage outside. Great setup outside with a ton of tables and a stage at the end of what is basically like an ally. The inside has two main sections: a back area that is accessible from that outdoor section and a large front area that opens up to the outdoors in the front of the building. Our second visit was spent inside right when the place opened on a Sunday in the summer. No real crowd so we got to socialize with the bartender who was formally from another one of my favorites, Swamp Head in Gainesville, Fl. Really cool guy. Had great local recommendations for us too. Did a couple flights. Fell in love with their Idle Speed, which is a salted lime lager. Took a six pack home in our luggage. Also enjoyed the different seltzers they offered but the coolest mix was called garden party. Good stuff. I will return on my next visit to Charleston.

Yelp
So we did a mini self-guided Chucktown brewery tour/crawl...13 breweries in 3 days. Charles Towne Fermentory on the west side of the city was my favorite if you were wondering at all, but that's likely because they're geared toward what I like (New England style unfiltered murky IPA's). Palmetto Brewing was fine, but it didn't make my top 5 and here's why: Weird parking set up with few spaces at their loading dock? Unless I'm missing something, they need to figure out a way better parking situation. Now maybe some people park under the overpass, but those spaces seemed to be all taken by local construction dudes. No prices on their menu board for pints at all, which means you have to ask (which I hate doing). Flights of 4 are available for 10 bucks and that includes tax (and therefore saves you $1.10 over most Chucktown swilleries). Overall, a small tasting room, 12 beers on tap, and 3 tv's at the bar. Dogs are welcome and several were present when we frequented on a recent Tuesday night. They also do trivia on Tuesday nights, though the crowd for that wasn't too large at all. Merchandise wise, they charge $1.50 per sticker and their hats and tees are 25 bucks. They have great air conditioning and also serve 3 different wines for those of you who go to a brewery to drink wine...I'll never get that, but whatever. Beers were fine and I would drink them again, but I doubt I go out of my way to drink a Palmetto Brewing Company beer at a taphouse or local brewpub that offers it. WiFi was strong and free, just like 'merica!
google avatar

Yelp
Great friendly and helpful service, nice modern and clean atmosphere and great beer! Definitely worth the stop.
google avatar

William S.

Yelp
The brewery is big and has potential to grow, which it clearly needs to do in terms of beer quality. Basic beer and behind the curve, regardless of beer geographic area. The space is great and can accommodate many people. Food trucks and axe throwing. I just don't see a need to revisit with sub par beers.
google avatar

Yelp
My wife and I took a motorcycle trip to Charleston and decided to stop at Palmetto Brewing, especially after trying their Huger St. IPA from our supermarket. We entered through the brewery area and found our way to the bar/sampling area. The seem to give tours at certain times, but our mission was to check out the beer. My wife and I each took a flight of different beers for $10 each. They also have a limited food menu. I ordered the Bavarian Pretzel with pimento cheese added. I didn't find one beer I didn't like. If it weren't for the fact that we had a motorcycle, I would have taken a case back with me. It wasn't too crowded for a Saturday. The men's room uses old kegs for urinals. I don't believe anyone should use a camera in a rest room, but I had to grab a pic of those.
google avatar

Yelp
This was the beginning of our Charleston beer hopping experience and it delivered! Refreshing beer and great outdoor atmosphere. We arrived to live music and it definitely set the mood. Such great selections which go with the seasons! Definitely recommended!
google avatar

Susan W.

Yelp
Cute brewery close drive to downtown. Husband & I sampled 6 beers & 2 seltzer's - I loved the seltzer's, hubby liked the beer. Overall a win for happy hour with plenty of outdoor tables & a nice patio vibe (kids welcome & ours had "electronic time" while we sampled).
google avatar

Ara A.

Yelp
Lots of options for those looking for different brews, I'm not a beer person so that's that. They do have a really good outdoor space with a stage for live music. The food truck gobble gobble has been parked there for months. They also sell merchandise on the side. Enjoy!
google avatar

Misha C.

Yelp
This has been one of my favorite brewery on the north side of the peninsula for years. I crave the Espresso Porter, especially during the fall and winter time. The beer uses a blend of coffee that was created and roasted just for them by Charleston Coffee Roasters. There are huge changes happening here. They do a Friday night concert series called the Loading Dock series but the courtyard is under construction right now. The building next to them off Hugers appears to be raized. Maybe they are incorporating that square footage into their location? Time will tell as it continues to be developed. We stopped by on Sunday but looks like the tasting room is closed Sun/Mon...not sure when that change.happened but good to know going forward. We will make sure to get there Friday or Sat during our next time in town. Thankfully, we were able to grab some cans of Espresso Porter on our way back out of town. Can't wait to come have a fresh poured pint on my next visit.

Michelle S.

Yelp
Good selection (though some from sister breweries), including gluten free options: wine cider and hard selzter. Food truck burgers were delicious (with a gf bun too)! Friendly chill place to watch a game, and watch other people's adorable pups.
google avatar

Kaitlyn K.

Yelp
Love the light and bright environment and large selection of house-made beers. Would love to visit again when I'm back in town!
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
Love this place! Great outside area to hang out. Excellent beer. I had a flight of 4 of 6 or their IPAS. All of them were delicious. The local food truck was great too. If you need a place to kick back on a beautiful summer day, this is the spot!
google avatar

Owen R.

Yelp
Friendly staff. Great selection, free parking. I liked the tap room and I don't have much else to say, I thought Charleston was incredibly underwhelming, so palmetto was a nice early surprise to the trip..mostly downhill after that.
google avatar

Jeanine K.

Yelp
Your average brewery atmosphere inside, similar feel as the Catawba brewery locations that I've been to. I do wish they distinguished up on the board which was a Palmetto beer and which was a Catawba beer. There's also some confusion on Untappd about whether beers are Catawba or Palmetto so there's some doubles on there (same beer under both breweries). The flights were on the higher end at $12 for 4 pours. Our favorites from the flight were the Hot Chocolate Brown Ale and the Mango Sriracha Gose. We're big fans of the Catawba Evening Joe which they have on tap here so I'd recommend trying that if your a coffee fan!
google avatar

Pamela K.

Yelp
After drinking Palmetto Brewery beer at numerous events in Charleston I finally had the chance to experience their brewery and it was a pleasant surprise! Two friends and their pup invited us you join them there one night and I was excited: 1) because I had been dying to go here for months and 2) I had no idea that they allowed dogs and inside too! When you first walked in was a large room with picnic tables and ax throwing set up for people to try, along with corn hole and some other pups wondering around with their owners. We walked down a hallway to the taproom (dogs were also allowed) to order some beer and they had all sorts of flavors like a cookie flavor which was pretty good and a peanut butter and jelly which wasn't quite my style. There were different options but plenty for anyone to find something they enjoyed. I will absolutely be back!
google avatar

Timothy R.

Yelp
This was one of our favorite breweries in Charleston! We liked most of the beers and the atmosphere was great as well. Definitely recommend checking it out!
google avatar

Luke S.

Yelp
Palmetto is a staple here in Charleston. They are dealing with a lot of construction and renovation but are still powering through. They are constantly releasing new beers and there is always a great selection on tap. Katie and Lauren are awesome and always have a smile on! Definitely one of my go to breweries in the area! I love the rebranding they just went through. The new Salted Lime Lager is amazing! Can't wait until summer to drink it out at the pool or on the water. Amber and Huger Street IPA are definitely staples of the brewery and you should try them if it's your first time. However they now have so many small batch beers that keep the regulars coming back to try new things. Grab a flight, or try beers by the half pint to explore all the beers
google avatar

Sheri S.

Yelp
Loved the vibe of this brewery! We've had their beer from stores, but never on tap! Venue is clean and nice! Tap handles and variety is great! My only complaint is that their beer batch consistency seems off. Lowcountry Pilsner tasted way different than we've had!
google avatar

Dave T.

Yelp
Great brewery with a huge selection of craft beers. The food truck on site was also delicious. The bartender was super nice and friendly. I wish I lived locally.

Yelp
Palmetto Brewing. It's a brewery, it's a music venue, it's a party! When this brewery first started many years ago, I was not so much a fan, but they have grown on me and I actually enjoy quite a few of their brews now. The Espresso Porter is one of my favorites, even in warm weather. Try it on Nitro! OMG! They also have a Grapefruit Elderflower Shandy that is unique and refreshing in the summer for something on the lighter side. Their Friday night Loading Dock parties are the best. They get great musicians to entertain us on their loading dock outside during the warm months, thanks to Awendaw Green. People can be seen socializing, or playing a game of Cornhole, and many people even bring along their pooch(es). Just make sure they are friendly and won't attack people or other dogs, please. I've never actually taken advantage of their brewery tour/tasting, but they are offered every afternoon, except they are closed on Sundays. The owners and brewers are pretty cool and very entertaining. Plenty of on-site parking is available, too. Thanks to Palmetto for having the vision and perseverance to start the brewery craze in Charleston, actually in South Carolina as a whole. We are much better off because of you!
google avatar

Saleen D.

Yelp
Chill brewery near downtown Charleston! My friend & I came in late on a Saturday night & as we were coming in, there was a live band ending so definitely come early to enjoy the entertainment. Also, the front half of the brewery was being used for a party so if you are looking for a place to host, this is it. Friendly bartenders, delicious beer, & board games. Dog friendly & they sell treats for them as well. Milk Stout: Creamy, subtly sweet, delicious!

Yelp
Palmetto is one of my favorite local breweries for sure and it helps that it's in my neighborhood. The Huger St IPA and the Mango IPA are my go-tos, but I also like to try sips of whatever their special is that day. The space inside can get a bit crowded, so try to snag a table or seats at the bar right off the bat. They offer flights for $10 so you can get a little taste of a few different beers and they let you sample the beer before you try as well. I've been to a few breweries lately that don't let you sample, so that feature it a plus for me. They have live music from time to time and a selection of appetizers on the menu to soak up their delicious brews. Definitely a great place to spend a Sunday Funday or stop in before dinner for a few drinks!

Yelp
They are expanding to add a nice, big courtyard area. There's a non-AC area of the warehouse with games and then an AC taproom with lots of seats at the bar and some tables and board games. I had a flight of 4 beers - kolsch, raspberry wheat, plum sour and the wit. All were very good. They also have cans available to take home along with growler fills. Cool, chill vibe. Can't wait to come back when the expansion is completed!

Yelp
One thing that's never easy about going in/near downtown is the parking. Palmetto has this covered, luckily. There is definitely ample parking available. The brewery itself is huge. There's a great tasting room that fits a good sized crowd and then another large room. I was there for an art show a few weeks ago and was surprised at how many people were there without bumping elbows. The beer itself is reliably good and they've got some other local flavors on tap.

Yelp
In 2017 I went to every brewery in Charleston (there are probably 30 more opening up as I write this) and Palmetto was one of my favorites. The beer is good and I just like the setup of the brewpub. It has a nice vibe to it. Other breweries are like restaurants or warehouses, this one has some character. One time when I was there they had live music outside and it was super packed. A lot of standing. But when it is less crowded, thats the time to go. This is a solid stop and one of my picks if you are traveling in the area.
