The Best Coffee Shops in Ottawa and Gatineau | Eater Montreal

"Located on the edge of Gatineau Park in Chelsea, one-year old Palmier is a destination for coffee, pastries (check out their collaboration with Red Door Provisions), and a welcoming back room. The menu also features tacos made with house-made tortillas." - Ivy Lerner-Frank

The location of this place is phenomenal, dining in is an experience within itself because the outdoor seating is surrounded by trees which I loved. I got the breakfast sandwich and it was delicious. It was flavourful and the egg was perfectly runny. I'd definitely come back here for the sandwich but i'd skip out on the matcha next time...it's not my favourite

I love this place and have been coming for a long time as a local to the area. My go to is the deli sandwich, the ingredients are always fresh and delicious. However, I was a little taken back by the pricing of the baked goods. One singular cupcake was almost $9… I honestly expected it to be around $4,50-$5 max, $9 is a little ridiculous in terms of pricing for one cupcake , the cupcake itself was grainy and fell apart, the best part was the icing and the jam. Service is friendly and welcoming, atmosphere is warm. I will be back for the deli sandwich but got spooked away from the baked goods 😫

A chill, quiet and breezy area to do work or catch up with friends. The açai bowls were enormous and worth the price. Perfect for breakfast or after a hike at the nearby trail parks. Matcha latté (regular milk, sweetened): has an overpowering taste of sweetness and milk compared to the earthy hint of flavour in matcha. Otherwise still silky, warm and well presented. Orange tart: slightly spongy, moist cake like texture with slight flavour of caramelized orange. It also has some granulated sugar all over the tart. _______________ *enthusiastic and easy going staff *lots of seating area both inside and outside *full of shades outside *amazing wifi connection *music choice matches the vibe really well *well maintained tained washroom *clean vicinity both indoor and outdoor

Beautiful place nestled in the trees with beautiful views from every direction. Great seating both indoors and outdoors. We tried the smashed burger, the poki bowl, the coffee, and a couple of desserts and everything was absolutely delicious. Can’t wait to come back here in the fall.

I had a delightful breakfast experience! The breakfast sandwich was delicious, but the real stars of the show were the French toasts creme brûlée and the expertly crafted cappuccino (which, might I add, was elevated to a latte - perfection!). The ambience was incredibly cute and cozy, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a morning treat.

Really nice café with two floors and a great variety of food and drinks. They’ve got pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and lunch options too. There’s outdoor seating and parking, which is super convenient. It’s also right by the Sugarbush Trail, so it’s perfect for grabbing a bite before or after a walk.

What a beautiful café with amazing food. I had the breakfast sandwich which was delicious and my friends and I shared the French toast which was literally out of this world. Crème brûlée with blueberries!? Like cmon! Very reasonably priced for the quality and portions. It’s a bit of a drive from Ottawa, but TOTALLY worth it. Services are bilingual as well. 10/10 recommend 😊

This café is absolutely a must stop while you’re in Chelsea. Whether you are staying or taking away this café will serve you well. There’s tons of space upstairs with plenty of electrical plugs and the outdoor space is so beautiful especially in the fall. The aesthetic is on point giving you ready to go take away options from the fridge. Fresh made goods, local beers, wine and coffee. The menu changes seasonally giving you the fresh ingredients in their dishes. My favourite part is getting to choose something new almost every time I stop. The drink menu always has me wanting another, be a latte or a martini they know their stuff behind the bar. The pastries are always mouth watering and it’s hard to only pick one. There’s honestly nothing I could say bad about this place as the staff are so friendly and always make me feel welcomed! The parking lot is small but there’s lots of parking across the street, just a short walk away. If you’ve never been here before and you’re reading this review take this as your sign you need to go experience it first hand! ** The new French Toast is a MUST TRY***

Yelp
An awesome little cafe! The food is delicious, highlights included the crème brûlée French toast with a crunchy top and crispy fried eggs, bacon, and salad with a thick slice of country style bread in "the staff meal". You order at the counter and sit, but service was fast and surprisingly attentive. This is a great place to go after a morning hike in Gatineau to enjoy a lunch and a microbrew or two!

Yelp
I love this place. Great seating areas upstairs and outdoors. Trendy, sure. Tasty, YES! The food is so good and I just love the setting. You walk in and are greeted by lovely employees and the baked good staring back at you. They made their own "Twix" bars... I mean, seriously! You have to come and eat their treats! They also make amazing challah avocado toast. But be prepared, this is a BIG piece of CHALLAH! But paired with basil and lemon it was just perfect for our brunch morning. Service is great, and parking is a challenge sometimes, but be patient. It's super clean, super open floor plan, and is just LOVELY all around. The coffee is always good. And I would come here all the time if I lived just a bit closer.

Yelp
I can start by saying I can't wait to come back.. the place is super cute, the views with the fall colors are amazing. We visited on a Sunday morning, it was super busy and the lady at the cash switched menus right at our turn, for a shortened one to minimize stress on the kitchen, my order was not on the minimized one.. but the lady at the cash was super nice to accept it. My latte came right through, it was amazing , we tried the pumpkin loaf very moist and flavourful! The main plates came a bit late and I totally understand because of the load they had. It's lovely how they have many scattered seating in the woods.. I really one come back during the fall and enjoy this new gem in Chelsea

Yelp
Super cute and lovely cafe! A cozy atmosphere with unique seating. Tends to be super busy so make sure to take that into consideration! Food was delicious and the staff friendly!

Yelp
Another coffee place you say? Yes, this one comes in style - the décor is lovely, modern and relaxing - and it serves quality coffees and good. I have been a couple of times and the filter coffee, the Americano and the hot chocolates have all been fresh and flavourful. The quality is discernable. They have well trained baristas. Food wise, I have only tried the cookies which are also locally made and very good. I heard good reviews of the sandwiches but haven't tried them yet. I will certainly be back for those. The place doesn't look big from the outside but it is two stories and has a lovely backyard in the summer. The decor is a mix of cement and wood, so modern and warm at the same time. The cafe faces Gatineau park so the view is amazing from the second floor. The parking is not huge but the cafe is steps from the visitors' Center.

Yelp
Delicious treats and drinks. Always friendly service. Beer and wine options. Beautiful landscape to post up and take a break from a bike or a hike or get a change of scenery from work-from-home. Prices are a little steep but it's a small business and feels worth-it to me.
