We had a few drinks and some fried snacks. The food and atmosphere and great. We also took a pie making class with Valeri in the back pie making kitchen. The class was supper fun. She is an excellent teacher and very knowledgeable. We made strawberry rhubarb pie and it turned out excellent. Valeri really ran a great class and made it fun and informative.

Cool long bar, nice looking spot. The kitchen closed five minutes before I sat down, so was disappointed didn't get a bite, want to come back try their cheese curds. Bartender made a excellent cocktail tho

I had the fish fry. Batter was very thick and greasy not much fish. First bite was fishy tasting, not in a good way. Coleslaw was warm and running all over rest of plate. Corn bread was dry. Tartar and butter warm and looked like it had Ben cooking under a heat lamp. No presentation. French fries were ok, overall it was quite terrible. I believe that if you have a fish fry on your menu, you should try to perfect it, being in Wisconsin. Really super nice servers though!

Great everything. Had wings, dry rub with a side of their hot sauce. Their hot sauce is really nice and different, sweet heat that builds nicely.

Google
Great food, good service and just the right vibe. I appreciated the hospitality and ambience of the bar during our visit; professional but casual. Not sure what the spices were in the haddock fish fry, Bay’s maybe? But it was delicious and plentiful. Breading was perfectly golden brown and fish was tender and mild. Cole slaw, my definition of a great fish fry, was outstanding as is usual in Milwaukee. 😉

Fun space with a great bar and cool decorations. I had fried pickle chips and a local IPA. The service was attentive. Definitely worth a stop for a drink.

My wife and I went for a fish fry 2/14/25. We have been here before and had burgers and fries along with some cocktails. Burgers and fries are very good and the old fashioned was great but I wouldn’t come back for the fish. It wasn’t busy as we were there around 4:30pm. We picked our own spot to eat and the server was right there with waters and menus, she asked us if we wanted a drink and we ordered the old fashioned. We already knew what we wanted to eat so we ordered 2 fish fries. Well the drinks were great but the fish came out and a lot of it was over cooked. The fries were very dark and not very crispy, they almost look like sweet potatoe fries. You couldn’t tell right away what the fish looked like until we started eating. I should have sent them back and I’m sure they would have been redone. My fault I didn’t. But the server should have taken a look a the plates before bringing them out and told the chef to remake them. I did notice other peoples fish and it looked dark. So still my fault I didn’t send them back. I will still come for the sandwiches and cocktails but never for fish.

Google
First off, the staff here are phenomenal! Super welcoming and outrageously helpful. I asked if they had a flight of whiskey available and they helped make it happen, and they've got a great selection of whiskey. Also, the hot fried chicken is delicious!

Yelp
Palomino is an unassuming pub in bay view, steps from lake Michigan's south shore. I love this neighborhood and Palomino adds flavor to the already beloved area. The interior is what I call just right- not too big, not too small, not too fancy, not too divey. You could come here for a date night or a quick bite before or after a show at the Cactus Club (the night we came, Jack White was playing there). I regret not getting pictures of all the concert posters on the wall, but they were really cool. My husband was especially excited because two of his favorite bands made appearances (the smoking popes and old 97's). When you come here, you have to try the fried chicken sandwich and I personally always have to get a piece of pie (we found out on this visit that Palomino is owned by the same owners as Honey pie and if you know, you know, honey pie pie is amazing). Oh, and I am obsessed with the fried pickles! Always a must. Also, I miss last visit. We learned that they have a rotating poutine menu. The one we had had buffalo chicken and blue cheese in it. It was a lot going on, but it was delicious. I am ALWAYS going to order poutine if I see it on the menu. They managed to find just the right amount of hipster vibes so that you don't feel like you weren't cool enough to fit in and you feel welcome, but you feel kind of hip by association being here (feeling like a boomer as I say this hope I get the point across) In short, thanks for being cool and always having great food and drinks! Don't ever change!

Yelp
Palomino Bar is a casual and cozy restaurant right near the lake in Bay View. The menu is small, but that's a good thing -- anything you order is going to be done right. I've been here twice now and must say the Brisket Burger is damn good. With just American cheese, pickles, onions, and secret sauce, this isn't a flashy burger, but that's part of why it's so special. The juicy patty with gooey cheese cut by the sharp onion (I'm not a huge pickle girlie) all on a warm brioche bun make this sandwich absolutely delectable. I finished every last bite. Oh, and the fries are amazing too! Nice and crispy, they retain some structural integrity no matter how much secret sauce you slather them in. If you're into alcohol, they've got a menu full of excellent choices. I'm more of a mocktail person, so I went with the Cherry Lime-Ade and loved every sip. With its deep red color, that beverage is a thing of beauty, and not too sweet either. Palomino Bar is a seat yourself joint and the service is speedy. Our drinks and meal came out promptly, but we never felt rushed. This is definitely a place to hang out and throw a couple back with the pals. For two non-alcoholic beverages, two entrées, and an extra basket of fries (they really are that good), it ran us about $45. It was worth every penny.

Yelp
Great corner bar in a cool pocket of the Bayview neighborhood. The bar has changed over the years, it has downsized and they now offer a more limited menu. They still are a great spot for a drink and serve some solid food. They have an absolutely killer hot fried chicken sandwich, might be the best in the city. They have a solid brisket burger, wings, salad and they serve a Friday Fish Fry. Every so often they do some pop ups and they have a beer and burger deal ($15) weekdays from 4-6. They also have a nice patio out front on those nice summer Wisco days. A solid bar with good food and drinks. Great spot to check out before or after a show at Cactus Club next door.

Yelp
Tried just updating my review with pics. Was wondering whether this place is back up for food like it was before

Yelp
This Milwaukee neighborhood bar food slaps. Limited menu but everything we've ordered has been great. We ordered the cauliflower appetizer on our last visit and it was good! We loved the house hot sauce. The brisket burger and fries were cooked to perfection as well. Greasy, cheesy, and delicious burger with crispy fries. Bartender and servers are all nice and quick service. Decorated well and feels clean. We'll be back for sure!

Yelp
I love Georgia peaches and when i found out that Palomino is doing a peach popup special memu, I was totally in! The sangria was delish and the peach compote on the cookie hit the spot. I love the vibe of this bar and absolutely will be going to revisit soon.

Yelp
Heck ya! I had the pleasure of checking out this joint on our recent trip. Wish I would've had more time as we sat on the patio. Enjoyed a local beer called the Spotted Cow. LOVED the fried cauliflower. It was fantastic. French fries were nice and dirty - which is good. Unbelievably friendly service from the bartender who served us outside. I wish I would've had time to try a slice of pie, but I definitely will next time.

Yelp
Palomino is a great local bar in a fantastic neighborhood in Bayview. Unpretentious, Palomino is purported to have a good kitchen, but we didn't eat on this particular evening. Henry was our barkeep when I sat down with two friends. He served great drinks and answered my questions with aplomb. I love living in Bayview.

Yelp
Great little bar/restaurant. While it looks like just a typical bar, the food was actually pretty good and better than I expected. I got the cheeseburger, simple, but got the job done. They had a decent craft beer list as well, several good WI beers, many of which I hadn't had. Lots of TVs to watch sports games, and I think some pool tables and dart boards as well. It was a cool vibe. Not too fancy or formal, but not grungey or divey either. It's near a few other spots within walking distance so you could make this a stop along a bar crawl in the area.

Yelp
Amazing service, and great variety of food for a fairly small menu! The food takes what you know as "bar food" to the next level.

Yelp
I love this place! Best chicken sandwich I've ever had in my life. The service is great and I love the vibe of the place. Try a slice of pie while you're here.

Yelp
At some point between the end of 2019 and early 2021 I found out about Palomino and saw some of the most amazing looking cheese curds I've ever seen. Problem was, their hours had been cut back due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the one time I was able to stop based on their website saying they were open, I didn't see that they had posted on social media that they were unexpectedly closed until later that day. Undeterred, I finally made it to Palomino to try the cheese curds that I had been longing for and, I feared, overhyped in my mind. The cheese curds are not the best I've ever had or even the best I've recently had (those belong to The Hale House), but damn they were good and you get a TON of them. You can tell they were freshly battered by the fact that the breading stuck together on various pieces and there were extra little bits of delicious fried batter in the bottom of my to go box. The breading had a unique flavor that I could tell includes pepper, but couldn't place anything specific beyond that. I'm glad I never gave up on my desire to try these and look forward to having them again.

Yelp
Just got off a 16 hour shift at the hospital and thought I'd try a neighborhood spot. I walk in and immediately am "greeted" by the rudest bartender ( short with short brown hair) . I simply ask if they take Apple Pay and she give me the snarkiest reply. I then ask if im okay to sit up at the bar and she laughs in my face. Will never be coming back .. super bad short encounter. Was expecting so much better. It doesn't take much to be nice to people.

Yelp
We headed to Palomino for a late lunch today. Part of our group had been there before and part had not. Right now they are only doing outdoor seating and you order at a window on the side of the building. The menu isn't huge, but there's definitely something for everyone! I also noticed they had quite a few vegan and gluten free options. I had the pulled pork and it was delicious! It was really juicy though, so I did have to eat it with a fork and knife to avoid a big mess. I also had the pimento Mac n cheese, which was a great side for the pulled pork. My only critique is that they use wooden utensils. They're a little difficult to use and there was definitely a wooden taste to my Mac n cheese using that fork. Other than that, everything was great and I would definitely recommend taking the time to stop by!

Yelp
At least they put on Fox News Live and Raw after they couldn't figure out how to get nationally broadcast antenna/streaming of ABC and ESPN for the Stanley Cup Final. Also are unable to replace a blown out keg in less than 5 minutes

Yelp
Just stopped in for happy hour drinks at 4 pm. Manhattan was great. Atmosphere was cool. Service so so, as the bartender appeared distracted trying to impress staff before real customers arrived. Will try again for a friendlier experience.

Yelp
#vegan options Get the cauliflower bites - they were SO good! All their sauces are vegan - ranch is decent. The "wings" were just big slices of tofu. Do not recommend. Just no. Unless you really just want a slice of tofu dipped in BBQ sauce. Drinks were good, got ciders. Overall cute spot. Outdoor seating.

Yelp
Palomino is a Bay View staple with consistently good food, pleasant service, and a nice, casual atmosphere. It had been a while since I had eaten here, and it seems they have redone the menu. Plenty of good-looking options were available, and there is an extensive drink list. If you're looking for a casual, reasonably priced place for dinner in Bay View, Palomino is a good choice. I opted for the Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich (double) and my friend went with the Shrimp Po'boy. We both enjoyed our meals, and the portions were quite large. A copious amount of fresh French fries made half the sandwich enough for me (yay leftovers). The sauce on the fried chicken was excellent; spicy but not overwhelming. The chicken was cooked well, and the breading was nice, not soggy. The house made pickles were a nice touch. Palomino has plenty of craft beers on tap to choose from, which I appreciated. I look forward to returning to Palomino sooner rather than later. It looks like they still have the Chicken & Waffle on their brunch menu, which was my favorite in the past, so maybe next time it will be for brunch and one of their delicious Bloody Marys.

Yelp
Several items can be ordered vegan. I had the chicken sandwich, vegan, which means they subbed in Herbivorous Butcher chicken on a sesame seed bun rather than brioche. It also has hit sauce, mayo, and pickles which really put it over the top. The pickles are excellent and you can order them fried as an appetizer. The chik'n appears to be fried, which took it to the next level. The fries are also incredible. All in all, this was a solid meal. Would definitely return and highly recommend to vegans. Service was good and I have no complaints about this place. Not sure why the ratings are so low.

Yelp
The place: Palomino has these great neon lights facing the street advertising their "ice cold crisp beer" and when you walk in, that neon is carried through. Behind the bar, there's red neon telling guests, "don't stop now." There are only two televisions in this bar (behind the bar itself), which...thank goodness. There are probably about a dozen tables that are both 4-tops with chairs and some that are half booths. Decorated with vintage concert posters. The location: In Bay View, a hop skip and jump from the Avalon, so a good place to go after a late movie. It seems to be nestled in a neighborhood of dive bars which suits me just fine. The food/drink: Fried pickles - came out HOT. We appreciated that the middles were cut out so they got crispy all the way through. Massive medallions of pickle. Vegan wings - a revelation. They come in baskets of 6 (4 tofu and 2 seitan, no substitutions). Great BBQ sauce. The seitan specifically tasted like they could have been meat and had a lovely texture. Seattle punch bowl (cider on tap) - firstly, I was smug that my drink came in a stemmed glass. It's a really pretty drink. It was hella fruity, but not necessarily sweet. Hard to describe, but I enjoyed it. Unite the Clans (beer on tap) - I've only ever had this beer from a can, but on tap, it's so much better. The service: Accommodating. We needed to send our patient server away three times so we all could get a look at the drink menu. They never got huffy, they were very understanding. They also brought us a pitcher of water when it was obvious we were parched. Next time: I'll probably settle on a beer and I might need to get a basket of vegan wings for myself because it was real hard to share. Pro tip: Look up the daily specials before you go. Thursday they served 50¢ vegan wings, which was lovely.

Yelp
We stopped in for an early dinner while the in-laws were in town and sat inside (if the weather permits, I'd suggest going outside as their patio is great). It was self-seating at the time, so we chose a booth and waited a little before we were met by the uncontested, most stone-cold and lifeless hospitality performance I've ever seen in Bayview (or anywhere around here, really). I want to give this person (blue gauges and matching nose ring) the benefit of the doubt and assume they had just received some emotionally numbing news of some sort, because our very foreign phrases like "hello" and "hi, thank you" could illicit no response. They filled our water glasses less than halfway, thudded some silverware on the table, stared coldly into the void, and walked away without a sound - a truly impressive and dedicated feat of silence. Was it something we did? Did we sit at the wrong table? Was it because my wife said "Hi! How are you?" in a manner that was too friendly? We will never know, for they had never spoken. Thankfully, we got great service shortly after by someone else and the food was AMAZING. The hot fried chicken sandwich was one of the best I've had in Milwaukee, and substituting for their homemade tater tots was absolutely the right move - they're perfect and the ranch they come with is a great compliment. My parents and wife enjoyed their orders (wings and burgers), too, but we all agreed that the initial exchange (or lack thereof) with the first "server" kind of killed the mood. Didn't ruin our day by any means, but it's a shame considering how stellar some of the food was. Other menu items sounded amazing, and we hope to go and give it another shot at some point - hopefully when Grumpy is not around.

Yelp
Tl:dr one of my fav spots in Bay View for meals and drinks with friends This is another one I'm surprised I haven't reviewed yet. It's been a long-time staple with my Bay View crew and since I'm about to join them by moving there, it's time. Palamino is a perfect date spot or place to enjoy whatever company you're in. The bartenders are great at making cocktails and they also have a medium-sized beer menu. I've tried a lot of snack/apps off the menu (tots, mac n cheese, fried pickles and cheese curds with tomato jam) and other delicious items off their $5 list. Meal wise I've had the hot fried chicken which was tender (perfect with hot sauce) and the PBLT (BLT with pimento cheese). Always well prepared and the staff mostly always friendly and fast. GOOD VEGETARIAN OPTIONS. Will always be up in by Bay View top.

Yelp
The Palomino is a fun place to eat when you feel like going hipster style and trying something different. The menu has a mix of pork, beef, chicken, veggie, vegan so everyone is sure to find something! The house made tots are very good if you've never had housemade tots before, a must do! Last night ours were a little over cooked so I was a bit bummed about that but they were still pretty delicious and the ranch in the side is great, must also be housemade. For dinner I opted for a bunch of sides instead of a whole meal. Along with the tots, the spaetzle, chicken & spinach side and also the broccolini with cheese sauce. There are a few eclectic drinks and beers in the menu - no Red Bull though, folks! I went with a Seattle cider they had on tap. The place speaks like it is 60% bar and 40% restaurant so super casual. I have to try the hot fried chicken sometime when I come back! They also have pies and cakes for dessert as their sister restaurant is Honeypie Cafe.

Yelp
Have been coming here for years, tried for the first time since the pandemic and it was terrible. We didn't know there were only 3 food choices, which is on us. But we were there for about an hour and half and the server only talked to us once. The cook brought out the food. And then it took almost 20 minutes for us to get our check after we asked for it. It did not seem overly crowded by any extent. We couldn't even get anyone to bring us napkins, so had to grab paper towel from the bathroom. The worst service we've ever had.

Yelp
I've always been a super big fan of Palomino. Good food and a cool atmosphere. This weekend I was in the area and we sat down to have what I was hoping to be lunch. Well no. It was brunch still at 3 pm. At first I was a little irked but upon closer examination of the menu and a waitress who was as informative as can be i settled upon what I will deem "the best deal in Milwaukee". The BISCUIT SAMMY has a perfectly fried chicken thigh and this drizzle of spicy honey. It came out hot and it was damn good! The biscuit was perfect. The spice was perfect. The cheesy grits were amazing! I was in heaven and it came so unexpected. Palomino I'm all yours!

Yelp
I was beginning my review for Palomino when my husband told me, "You can write on your review that I wished I had ordered the brisket burger that you ordered, but my chicken dinner was excellent." Enough said. Online ordering was very easy, pickup was easy, food is fantastic. We will be ordering from here again.
google avatar

Yelp
Staff is kind and fun! They always mail our vegan orders! The sauces!!!!!! The outdoor space is well maintained and nice even in slight rain or high heat. Spaced out seating is appreciated despite how many more they could fit. Still seating outside and to go orders. Food is always good and hot!

Yelp
I love having Palomino just a few footsteps away from where I live, although sometimes it's dangerous. Ha! My favorite is the beer and whiskey special for $6. It's a crazy good deal, since it's a craft beer and a good whiskey and it changes every month. The bartenders are very friendly and prompt and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The cheese curds are delicious! Brunch is amazing and the mac and cheese...delish. It's a great place to have some special drinks, beer, and a bite to eat!

Yelp
We had not been to Palomino in a long time, and headed over for brunch this weekend. The atmosphere was as remembered: hipster - dark, dinner-y, with cool concert posters everywhere. I ordered the chicken biscuit Sammy - fried chicken, on a biscuit with "hot honey" and a side of potato hash. The sandwich was solid but not remarkable. It needed something more than the honey. Thank he hash was good, but definitely not a hash. It was breakfast potatoes with salt, rosemary, and parsley (I think). It was a nice mix of regular potatoes and sweet potatoes. I had the "Danger zone" a grapefruit raddler & gin. It was good and I'd order it again. While there was nothing that would make me crave Palomino, I would certainly go back again. Service was competent and efficient and the atmosphere is nice & relaxed.

Yelp
My husband and I have been to Palomino several times for both dinner and brunch. We went back for brunch this past weekend after some time away and found a renewed affection for their vegetarian chicken and the overall yummy selection of comfort foods and sides. My husband had the hot chicken sandwich made vegetarian and I had the vegetarian chicken and waffles. I always find it really exciting being able to take part in what is normally a very meat-centric dish. And I feel like both of these options, and all of those we have tried in the past, have been fulfilling and not just sad substitutes. Additionally, many of the vegetarian options are actually vegan. So there's a lot of effort being made to accommodate varying levels of meat-free, which I appreciate. That being said, their cheesy hashbrown casserole is a real delight (though definitely not vegan). The space itself is very laid back and casual. It has a very all-american feel and feels like a comfortable place to have a chicken dinner with friends. Also, during the warmer months, you can have your meal outdoors on their patio space. Even though we hadn't been in months, I think Palomino will be a front runner choice whenever we're aching for some comfort food that doesn't feel too overly indulgent.

Ryanne R.

Yelp
Great place to grab a drink and bite to eat! They have hands down the best cheese curds in the area. Fun place to hangout with friends. They also have outdoor seating.

Yelp
OMG. I went here a few times when I first moved to Milwaukee in 2011 - and to be honest, it wasn't great, especially for this recent New Orleans transplant. So, when a friend suggested we visit a few weeks ago, I was hesitant. I am here to tell you to CHECK YOUR HESITATIONS OUTSIDE SOMEWHERE. This food is so, so, so good. So good that I took my mom here this past weekend for brunch. The BEST shrimp and grits I've had north of Jackson, MS. Andouille sausage comes as part of the dish, not as an upcharge (like some unnamed restaurants). Cheesy, happy grits, with some kind of beautiful microgreens that absolutely made the meal. Crystal hot sauce on the table for those last few bites. The worst part was when my bowl was empty. Really great service - noticed my mom's bacon was overcooked and replaced it with perfectly cooked strips that disappeared instantly. Dark roast coffee, but still good. Four pies available. No coconut cream this time, but they have it often enough that I'll let it slide. I would like to eat here every day of my life.

Yelp
Wow, almost 3 years since the last time I ate here. I stopped in for a late brunch with a few other Yelpers while we checked out the Beet Street Harvest Fest in the neighborhood (that was cool too btw). Two of us, including me, ordered the Biscuit Sammy ($8) with choice of potato cakes or cheesy grits. We both chose the grits. Two others ordered the Hot Chicken Sandwich with fries. One person ordered the PBLT, with Pimiento cheese being the "P' ingredient. The biscuit was near perfect in texture, but just a tad too crumbly for me, which would be fine except when trying to eat a sandwich and having a piece of the "bun" fall off before you take a bite. The boneless fried chicken thigh was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and tender and juicy inside. A drizzle of honey on the inside of the biscuit brought this sandwich home for me. The grits were among the best I've had in Milwaukee. They were very creamy and the layer of cheese baked on top added great flavor. Our amazing server, Meg, suggested the Biscuit Sammy over the burger because while she said both are excellent, the Biscuit Sammy was only available for weekend brunch. Great call! The two who ordered the Hot Chicken, which was essentially the same fried chicken thigh with some hot sauce poured over. Hot Chicken, a dish that originates from Tennessee seems to be one of the latest popular food trends, as I'm seeing it appear on various menus around town, including Merriment Social and the soon-to-open Tandem. They were disappointed with their sandwiches, as a result, but they seemed to enjoy the fries. The PBLT received a solid report. Palomino is back on my radar for a future visit for brunch and dinner.

Yelp
Sometimes a business seems to lose its way and they need to have a spark relit. The GOOD: We have enjoyed The Palomino since we discovered it a few years ago. The interior is inviting, there's lots of room to sit and they have a cool bar. There's a great patio in the front that overlooks a park and the lake. Most people would chide over menu changes. But menu changes signify variety and a chef with a zest for taste. They know what items to keep on the menu that are favorites. THE NOT GOOD: But lately, the quality of the food served says that the kitchen is given up. The Palomino is just not as good as it used to be. I absolutely LOVE fish fries, but the last few Friday Fish Fry's there have been terrible. The place hasn't been full, with several tables and a third of the bar available for seating. I always get their cheese curds (5 O'clock Shadow) but lately when I get their cheese curds, I receive a brown glob of something that exploded with cheese. When we received our fish platter, the cookie tray it came on was a little excessive considering the portion size we were given. The serving portions were maybe a handful of burnt fries and three BURNT fish servings. they looked and tasted as if ignored in the fryer. And I'll be honest, fried fish should NEVER be the same color as BBQ sauce and have a texture of jerky. We were starving after a long workday and did not want to reorder our meal just to wait for a new meal. We just ate it, but the problem is this is not the first time that this has happened. It gave me a bad upset stomach. The drinks are always good though, no complaints on that at all. The waitstaff were kind and apologetic about the food. But all I really want is for the quality of the food to get better.

Yelp
My husband and I had an impromptu date night and we knew we had to go to Palomino for theirnew and improved vegan not wings!! The appetizers did not disappoint. We got the not wonngs and fried pickles! So so yummy. As far as entrees he got the bbq jackfruit sandwich and I got the falafel po boy. Both were pretty mediocre. Not a ton of flavor and just underwhelming. I got the home made tots with my sandwich and they were so good! His fries tasted burnt though. Overall a decent meal but next time we will just go for apps and drinks! Service was wonderful btw.

Yelp
Yes it's so good, this is a review about the leftovers from lunch a couple days ago... It doesn't look like very much, but all of it was far too valuable to discard and is still absolutely mouthwatering reheated. #Toasteroven Valerie and her crew are geniuses. From Palomino to my house. "May I take your plate?" Absolutely not. Yes, I got a spare biscuit.

Yelp
A new favorite of mine. It met all the hype and surpassed expectations. The small menu is able to be entirely recommended. Unequivocally, unconditionally, 100% recommend.

Yelp
I have been here several times and every time it's a great experience. The food is always delicious, the servers are always attentive and the pie is utterly amazing. They have great vegetarian and vegan options. I am moving to the area and can't wait to go here on a regular basis.I was there last night and Chelsea V was my server, she didn't utterly fantastic job.

Yelp
Food so good you'll order it two days in a row!!!! They accidentally forgot an item in my order and they promptly went above and beyond to handle the situation. Definitely recommend for their very tasty menu AND their amazing customer service!!

Yelp
There was a moment in time where I was going to give this place 4 but it just kind of failed to meet that. I had high hopes that kind of rapidly devolved. Let's start with getting into this place. We were a large group but saw lots of empty tables. No dice. There was a baby shower. ???? This is a bar. That's weird. We are told there's only space at the booths and the entire back area is reserved. It's huge. And again. No sign of a baby shower being there. We must wait. The bar is overwhelmed. I wait 15-20 ish minutes to get a drink (your bar staff is excellent. Leave them out of this). We finally a squeeze into a booth. No problem. But I can't help notice 20 minutes later. That baby shower still isn't seated. Whatever. Our server comes. At first I think she's amazing. Nope. Just talkative. And in fact now talking so much she's actively ignoring orders (why?). She's new we learn. Got it. Read your audience. We are hungry and have been waiting for a table. She continues to banter and we finally order. By the way. That baby shower? Still hasn't shown. It's almost been an hour. Our server seemed great but actually was just incredibly talkative and missed a lot of attempts of service. She blames it on being new. Whatever. Our food finally comes (it took a bit!). My shrimp and grits is good. But you know what isn't? The poached egg. It's a boiled egg and pretty gross. So is my friends and she sends it back. I should have too. All in all. We didn't get to sit in a normal table because of a baby shower that shows up 90 minutes later. My food was good but not quite what I wanted. My friends actually sent their food back it was so bad. And our server was more sassy than she was professional. I won't be back.

Yelp
Neighborhood bar nestled in Bayview. It was exactly what I was looking for -- a quiet place for a solo dinner. The patio area looked nice but I opted to eat inside-- which is larger than it looks from the outside. The waitress described the food as comfort food and she was spot on. The brisket burger and fries with a Oberon beer was perfect. Plan to come back and check out other items on the menus.

Yelp
Palomino is one of my favorite spots- for dinner and brunch! The fried chicken and waffles is amazing and I love the biscuits and gravy. If you get the biscuits and gravy be sure to order a side of chicken, you won't regret it. The sides on the menu make it easy to mix and match to get exactly what you're craving. Be warned, there's always a wait for brunch because of limited seating, but it's definitely worth it. Palomino is the place I always recommend to friends looking for the best in Milwaukee. Don't forget to finish your meal by choosing something from the rotating selection of desserts. Pies come from Honey Pie cafe. We've loved all the pies we've tried and you can't go wrong with one of the oatmeal creme pies- 100x better than those you remember from Little Debbie. Picture: fried chicken & waffles with a side order biscuit.

Yelp
Our second outing and I'm still happily full from good food. This time through I had the shrimp and grits. Delicious, flavorful and with a perfect poached egg. Almost as good as the shrimp and grits I had in Nashville. My dining duo with me had the veggie po'boy and hot chicken sammy, both with high marks. The beer and shot for $6 was a delightful surprise with Rebel Yell bourbon and a Wasatch or Deschuetes option. All in all, a brunch win

Yelp
I visited Milwaukee last weekend and my favorite meal, by far, was brunch at The Palomino. The food and service was really good and, best of all, it wasn't overrun with other people. The brunch menu at The Palomino is pretty standard, but leans Southern. There were a few enticing options but I ultimately decided to go with a hot fried chicken sandwich. The chicken was great and I enjoyed the house hot sauce. Boyfriend got shrimp and grits, which he liked, and I think everyone else at their table was happy with their food, too. I loved the relaxed atmosphere at The Palomino and the subtly retro decor. I was very happy with the food and service. Glad we went.

Yelp
Really fun menu and lots of vegetarian options. They have really big portions, but the flavor was kind of lacking because of it. The seitan wings were a little bland and soggy. I think if there had been less breading and more frying they would have been perfect. They do have great pie though. The key lime is a 10/10

Yelp
Palomino never ever fails me. From BBQ Bloody's to five layer pumpkin chocolate chip cakes, I can always be sure that if I'm in the mood for some rich and decadent food, I'll find my fix here. To date I've had the burger (delicious), the hot fried chicken sandwich (delicious), the chicken fried steak (amazing) and the chicken and waffles (superior) during my visits. I also had the chance to try their desserts. I ordered the Mississippi Mud Pie. Oh my God! Crunchy cookie crust, creamy fudge, sweet whipped cream, every human's dream. The fried chicken was seasoned throughout and super moist. The garlic and herb Bloody Mary was exactly what I was looking for when I got to Milwaukee from NY last weekend. The chicken fried steak was tender and the salty gravy was a match made in heaven with these cheesiest cheese grits on the planet. Palomino will always be a go to on my Milwaukee list. Always.

Yelp
Bayview has really gotten the recipe down for a great restaurant-- a little bit quirky, good food and a fun drink menu. That's the only reason I'm only giving the Palomino three stars-- I thought it was great and I would definitely come in again, but I can think of a whole list of other places like that in the area. (As someone who lives in Milwaukee, this is a very good problem to have.) With that said, it was a beautiful day and we were able to sit outside. Something about sitting outside always makes a drink taste better so I was happy they had sidewalk swaying. Their drink list was fun and extensive. The cocktails have some funny names and they are very boozy-- in a good way. However, the item that really stole the show was the fried chicken dinner. My boyfriend and I split the three piece meal and it was not only plenty of food, but the chicken was seriously incredible. It comes with two sides and cornbread-- the presentation was charming. Felt like I was headed out on a picnic with a lovely home cooked meal. This is what I would come back for.

Yelp
I don't really eat meat, but finally tasted the chicken. Worth it. Although, they do have some great vegan options as well!!! Lots of sides to pick from - really can't go wrong! I went with broccolini - only wish I had more! Beer is good. Dessert - tried some pie & cookie sandwich, yum!!! Fun place to eat with friends.

Yelp
It's pretty great to have Palomino as my local neighborhood bar. One of the best parts...their $6 whiskey and beer monthly special. I'm not talking a shot of Jack and a High Life. It's always a great whiskey and beer and at a great price! How could you not get it? The bartenders are all really friendly and make it a great place to relax at the end of a long day or for a little weekend day drinking. The food is good, with moments of greatness. The Mac and cheese, cheese curds, brunch hash browns, fries, and some other items...awesome. The burger can be great, but inconsistent. Also a great special, Sunday-Thursday's 4-6pm sandwich and beer $10 special. A potential 5-star establishment. Dig it.
