The Best Restaurants in Montreal’s Gay Village and Centre-Sud | Eater Montreal

"It’s traditional dishes all the way at this homey Thai spot, as chef Pamika Sukla dreamed of showcasing the wide range of flavours Southeast Asian cuisine can offer. Its fresh salads, soups and curry dishes are all winners, and its cocktails — when on-site dining resumes — add to the impressive menu." - Valerie Silva

The Best Thai Restaurants in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"One of the city’s fancier Thai tables (at least in setting, less so in price), Pamika sticks to a tight selection of a few Thai classics (Tom Yum, yellow and green curries), and a solid cocktail list. Alternatively, there’s the gigantic (summer-only) Thai barbecue plate." - Tim Forster

Very cute place, decor is elegant and refined. The service was excellent. The waiter was attentive and helpful with menu suggestions. The drinks were creative and colourful with an organic feel to them. The food was not bad but the dish I ordered, chicken pad that was under seasoned and very basic. The presentation was very nice for the other dishes and I was told they were very good. I would still recommend Pamika if you want a nice intimate setting and great drinks.

I was really excited to try this restaurant after hearing great things, but unfortunately, it was a big letdown. The food lacked flavor and had a runny, unappetizing texture. Even worse, the chicken was undercooked, which is a serious safety concern. The outdoor dining area was dirty and poorly maintained, which made the experience even more unpleasant. To top it off, the staff never checked on us during the meal. Overall, it was a very disappointing visit, and I won’t be returning.

Really cool place with a really cool vibe. The bar is very nice and the ambience is calm and dark, i love it. The cocktails were amazing (the pineapple one was the best by far) and the food was even better. Staff is really experienced and know everything about the menu. 10/10

Food and service were great. The presentation of the dishes was aesthetic, portions are on the smaller side. I think there are a few Thai places better than this place however.

Google
The restaurant itself was absolutely beautiful—great atmosphere and decor that really sets the mood. The food was good overall, though not extraordinary—I’ve had better, but it was still enjoyable. The cocktails, however, were definitely a highlight: well-made and full of flavor. It’s a nice spot for a chill night out, especially if you’re looking for good drinks and a great vibe.

What a great experience! Went to pamika for dinner with a group of friends and we really enjoyed our evening. We started with drinks, I ordered the "meditation" which came presented on a little stand with a dramatic effect and tasted very fresh and fruity. For appetizers we ordered the papaya salad which was delicious and the sugar cane shrimp which has a very special sweet and savory taste. I highly recommend these two dishes! We also had the pad thai which we loved! The service in this restaurant is excellent, the waiters are very attentive and take the time to explain each dish when presented on the table. I highly recommend this place!

While staying in a local hotel a guest recommended we come to this Thai restaurant for good food. We checked out the menu and it looked great, so we went. The host was great, very helpful and friendly, especially since we didn’t have reservations and this place was booked solid. So, we sat at the bar, which was fine. The bartender was very helpful and the menu is pretty appetizing. We tried several items and all were excellent! The 3 and 4 chili pepper indicators are spot on too! We sweated eating some of the food, for sure! Definitely get the Crying Tiger, the beef in it was outstanding! Nice and tender!! Save room for dessert, as the coconut ice cream was really good and the rice flour pudding was incredible! Highly recommend stopping in, especially if you like spicy food!

Google
Thai cuisine has always been one of my favorites, and Pamika has definitely satisfied my expectations. The level of spice in their noodles, soups, or salads is just on point. The waiters are also very attentive, the resto has a nice ambience overall. Will definitely return!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food and service. We were there in Montreal for 2 nights and had some delicious food. Fresh and tasty unlike food here in Boston. Pamika Thai was absolutely fantastic. Spicy pad thai , chicken Basil dish and other cpl items we had were really good. The ambience is also nice. I have to say with 5 stars though the pricing is quite high for qty you get. Other than that good place for once in a while otherwise cannot go regularly there with the price to qtt ratio

Yelp
It was ok.... Service was great however the food was not up to par. Pad see eww was salty and the portion size for the curry was tiny! The fried pork appetizer was dry it didn't have much flavor and one of my drinks was watered down. The interior is nice and the vibe but the food is sooo 6/10 you can def find better Thai food around. Will not recommend for the price point.

Yelp
I mostly liked everything I tried at this lovely restaurant. The green curry was very light and delicious, one of the better curries I've had. The BKK rolls (first item in the menu) were texturally superb but rather bland. We commented on them (our server asked while clearing) and a concerned manager came to the table to discuss it with us, so service is top notch. My husband had the pork fried rice kra pao, which I also tried. It was tasty and spicy, and maybe a bit of too much of one thing for an entree, so better to share. I ordered a glass of white wine and was presented with a couple of choices to sample table side, which is a very nice touch. The restaurant interior is beautiful, and the banquet very comfortable.

Yelp
-wagyu skewers (3 tiny pieces of meat) arrived completely cold -we waited over 50 minutes for this -waiters not checking up, asking if we want drinks etc. we are not sure where they are -kind of want to cancel the rest of our order and leave

Yelp
Not authentic at all. On a vacation here and looking for Thai food; food here does live up to the high review. Beef panang curry is average but is already the best among what we tried. Tom kha kai - never seen such a dish with cabbage in it; can't taste any of the lemon grass, galangal, kefir, etc. Tom Yum pad that - haven't eaten such bad pad Thai in so long. Nothing of it tastes like pad Thai, not to mention any Tom yum flavor to it. As to the service, we made a last minute reservation, and was told we have a little over an hour, which is fine and usual, but the whole time when we were there, we felt rushed by the front desk person, while it was the food itself that was taking forever to come.

Yelp
We found this restaurant online, and it turned out to be one of the best Thai places I've ever been. The welcoming drink which was enticing and a great palate cleanser before your meal. The shrimp and spring rolls were probably among the best appetizers. In particular, the wrapping on the shrimp with noodle was particularly unique and tasty. Soup was great. For the main dishes, we had a special Wagyu fried rice, which was amazing! The ginger chicken was also excellent Their portions were generous and hospitality was very welcoming Specialty Mocktail drinks were also great Would definitely come again

Yelp
An amazing Thai spot. From the appetizers to the deserts everything at Pamika Thai is wonderful. We were staying just a few blocks up so it was a must go for us. In terms of gluten free options, there weren't too many. But the ones that were gluten free were absolutely delicious. Our server was tremendous and the food was plated beautifully. The outdoor seating wasn't too noisy and we loved the views of Montreal. I highly recommend if you're in the area and in the mood for some Thai! (8-10)

Yelp
I've been to many Thai restaurants--Pamika Thai isn't anywhere near the top. I would say, it is more for the decor and presentation that sell here rather than the authenticity of the food. Was quite disappointed!

Yelp
food was really quite incredible. the pork was really crispy and had a great spice profile. it wasn't overcooked at all and still had the tender fats which I liked. The egg and rice perfectly paired with the pork and helped balance some of those spices. Thai iced tea was incredible. had a great deep tea flavour and wasn't overly sweet. service was incredibly kind and helpful and we ate on the patio so having the outdoor exposure created the ambience my group was looking for.

Yelp
I was in town for vacation and was looking for Thai food. Found this restaurant on google and decided to give it a try. Have to make reservation since the restaurant is not too spacious. They do have outdoor patio in front and back of the restaurant but the inside of the restaurant decor is much better than outdoor. At first I was skeptical about the food since we were the only Asian in the restaurant. Wonder if the food was not authentic, but it turned out to be good. Some of the item I didn't like but it was bad. Service was also nice. Price range is a bit pricey but not too bad.

Yelp
Amazing ambiance and food. The service was excellent and I felt very well taken care of. You will not regret visiting Pamika Thai!

Yelp
Great spot for Thai food in Montreal! The service was lovely, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was warm. The spicy salmon tartare was amazing, and pairing it with a curry (my partner had the chicken) or a noodle dish (I had the pad thaï vegetable option) made the meal more than filling! I would recommend calling ahead to make a reservation!

Yelp
we went to this spot as it was my friend's favorite restaurant in montreal and i def understood why. firstly, the food was AMAZING. everything was delicious and flavorful. i have never enjoyed thai food as much as i did here. additionally, the staff were incredibly sweet and accommodating. the space was also beautiful and modern. it does seem to be a very popular spot, so i suggest making reservations a day in advance. we tried to make dinner reservations the same day, and they only had times after 10 PM. it is located on a busy street in montreal, so there's lots to do in that area as well. if you are ever in montreal, pamika is a MUST when you're there. i have already told my friends to go there!

Yelp
The ambiance was so nice in Pamika, it wasn't too noisy or too quiet. The lights were a bit dim, but didn't bother the eyes too much while reading the menu or eating. The settings and decor in the restaurant were so beautiful and the layout of the restaurant felt very cozy, while giving customers privacy. The service was great, our server (his name completely slipped my mind) explained the dishes really well considering our dietary needs, and he was very enjoyable to chat with as we were visiting MTL on vacation. He recommended great food and drinks to us from the menu, and also introduced new activities we could try while in MTL. We ordered a Thai Tea (not pictured), a Papaya Salad, a Drunken Noodle, and a Pineapple Fried Rice. Everything was DELICIOUS! The Thai Tea was a perfect blend of creamy sweet and bitter tea, the Papaya Salad was refreshing and slightly spicy, which gave it a good kick, the Drunken Noodles were a hefty portion (but be warned that it is the spiciest dish in house), and the Pineapple Fried Rice was sweet and tangy. This is definitely my must-go place in MTL, and you can bet I'll be back when I visit again!

Yelp

Yelp
Loved the cool chic vibe at this restaurant! We tried the fried calamari, shrimp pad Thai, crabmeat fried rice and massaman curry with chicken. Flavors were good but portions were on the smaller side. Bangkok delight made with dark rum, mango purée and pineapple juice was yummy and it came in a pineapple. They also offer a refill for less. The server was very nice but couldn't speak English well.

Yelp
Service at the bar with Alex was superb and he makes a mean cocktail. I had scotch on a big rock but he gave us a sample of a mango purée that tasted like vacation! We ordered papaya salad, fried shrimp on sugar cane, salmon tartare, and the bavette which was grilled to perfection with an umami chili sauce so good I wanted to drink it. Every dish was delicious. Sad we are full. May come back tomorrow to try more at this beautifully designed restaurant.

Yelp
Someone who has been in the hospitality industry for 12 years, I was more than understanding of the possibilities of bad service. However, I was extremely disappointed that I could not find a single reason to justify the service...it was awful. Saturday night, I expect good service or strong servers but sometimes that doesn't happen and that's okay, but this is your money making day...make it count. Our server did not have any menu knowledge we had to point to the menu to order, did not listen to our needs/wants or questions. one of us ordered a very spicy item and he told us it's hot and we knew and confirmed that we were okay with that...food came out with 0% spice while my level 1 panang curry had more spice than his, while his was ordered at a level 4 spice. he disappeared in the night never saw him again in the entire restaurant for the remainder of the night. it took 45 minutes plus to pay the tab and we were there past closing so not even in the middle of the rush. we asked 2x for the tab to close out while all servers just cleaning. Food was good, our order was wrong for one of them but at that point we ignored it. Rant over, service was not good for price point.

Yelp
Great food. It is upscale but the flavors are there. Khao Soi is among the very best. Loved it.

Yelp
Great food and service, authentic Thai cuisine. Some of the best pad Thai I have ever had.

Yelp
Incredible find in Montreal!! It's been around for years....I have no idea why isn't not more well known!! The food is INCREDIBLE; honestly, I would have just kept shoving food in my mouth if my stomach wasn't going to explode. Perfect blend of sweet and spicy and savory....it's so hard to find a restaurant that is worth it nowadays. And the ambience/decor was BEAUTIFUL. Can't recommend highly enough.

Ngwiza N.

Yelp
Awesome food, beautiful set up & even better service from Lou the bartender. 10/10 would recommend!

Sara N.

Yelp
Lovely decor and customer service. However, the food is bland for a true Thai food fan. We were disappointed by not being able to customise the dishes to be spicy. We were told the flavors come as they are, & that spices & condiments are on the side. While we are used to having 3-4 different sauces & spices, only 2 were served. The speed of service was also a bit slow but that maybe because the restaurant was busy.
google avatar

Rume W.

Yelp
Absolutely stunning ambience. We wanted a last minute restaurant for dinner and Pamika ticked all the boxes! The flavors are out of this world. Definitely hidden gem in Montreal!
google avatar

Shona A.

Yelp
All the classic Thai dishes were overtly sweet with no other flavours, barely taste lemongrass. The green curry was too thin and pale to Thai standards. The only dishes we enjoyed was the papaya salad and calamari, which are quite hard to mess up. Extremely expensive for what it is, seems like the Thai owner adapted the flavours to Western standards.

Kay L.

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful, the service is impeccable, and the food is delicious. I HIGHLY recommended the ginger chicken and the pineapple fried rice. 10/10 recommend!

Aingaran S.

Yelp
Great contemporary Thai food! The ingredients and flavours were great. The drink menu was also unique and delicious.

Yelp
Authentic food. Impeccable service with a laid back stylish ambiance. Everything for a perfect night
