Pan Roast-Portland

We had the half shelled oysters and their seafood combination signature pan roast. Wow. Just wow. Absolutely phenomenal food. I have never had a dish quite like this before. I am truely impressed. I had to go back and give my compliments to the chef. We will be back!

SALTY SAUCE Good flavor, but the signature pan roast with clams was very salty and I love salt. They should call their “Lobster” Roll a Langoustine roll. The meat was chewy and a meager amount in the roll. Best part of the roll was the bread and butter. This spot is a FLOP!

The food here was amazing. The staff was super friendly and ready to help me. I very much enjoyed my halibut pasta. Service was quick and food came out fresh.

Located in Flock at the base of the Ritz hotel, this place specializes in seafood and I was craving fish and chips. They have cod and Halibut. I chose 4 pieces of cod for $18. I should have really just gotten two. As it would have done the job It wasn’t too bad, the batter was a nice taste and the fish quality was good but they were a tad greasy. I should say clean greasy, not dirty friary greasy. Realistically I would say the food is a 4.5 The dish came with waffle fries, tartare sauce, cocktail sauce. To note I have had a lot worse fish and chips in america. I’d get it again, maybe it will be a touch less greasy. The seating and tables are food court style. pleasant and clean. And the chefs working there were nice and courteous

Ordered the best Scallop Bisque I have ever had in my life! Really good Clam Chowder and the Cod fish and chips. Loved it all! Unfortunately the Flock location is like eating in an airport food court. Next time I think we will just get it to go.

We tried food from a different place in Flock but were still a bit hungry so we decided to get one more small item. We got the avocado + crab + shrimp stack with chips and it was excellent! Perfectly seasoned with fresh ingredients! I didn't look at the reviews first so was surprised to see some lower ones. I assume maybe they had some opening pains here but for our experience it seems they've smoothed it out. I'd definitely come back and order this again, and also want to try the other items on the menu!

Pan Roast at the Ritz is incredible. The seafood is amazing, fresh, and high quality. I love the bisque, pasta, and clam chowder. The indoor food cart location is busy but fun. I enjoyed getting Pan Roast and a drink!

As a big fan of clam chowder, I used to drive from downtown to the Oregon Coast when I wanted clam chowder. But now I don't have to. Here, the clam chowder is really delicious, not salty and full of goodness. The bread is a good - the part that soaks up the clam chowder is very moist and soft and the outside is crunchy but not chewy, which makes it nice to eat. They make garlic bread with the lid of the bread bowl, which is a perfect point to me. I recommend trying it soon before the hot weather comes. (I often eat clam chowder in the summer, though 😇). *I visited here at 5pm on a weekday so it was okay. But when I visited during the weekend or during lunch on a weekday, it was super crowded so that I didn't want to try any foods in there.

Flock was fun. We rounded the corner an saw a long line which we joined but you could see plenty empty tables inside. Luckily it didn't take us too long to find out the line was for a pop up sushi place and we walked right in. Both of us went straight to Pan Roast as I've been promising myself a lobster roll for several forevers. It was truly worth the wait. Came with a side salad and stole fries from my friend who got loads of them with her fish and chips. Both very pleased. The place is lovely.

Stopped by Pan Roast, at the FLOCK, on a Saturday evening and left a bit disappointed. The FLOCK was advertised as the newest premier food hall and event space - -- saw vendors and a band set up so I know the nightlife was starting. We came to snag a front space. Around 6PM, at Pan Roast, I ordered the clam chowder and was surprised by how much I didn't enjoy the soup -- mostly just think creamy broth with little clams. Flavor-wise, it was overwhelmingly salty, which made it hard to enjoy. Wanted to get it in a bread bowl, but found out that would be an extra $6 -- a bit steep for what's already a fairly basic portion. I couldn't finish it. Bummer, and I hate food waste. My roommate helped by taking a couple spoonful and agreed the chowder was okay. Maybe it tastes better in the bread bowl. :( Thank goodness we also ordered fish & chips -- very good and generous portions! I'll recommend this and the fried clams were very tasty (was ordered by our local Portlanders). I should had copied him! Next time for sure. What stood out the most was that, during the entire time we were waiting and eating, barely anyone else was ordering food. Most of the crowd seemed to be there for drinks at the adjacent beer/wine stalls and snacking on small bites (tapas) like sliders and chicken wings. Not the best experience, but I certainly expected more on a "premier" food-hall smack in the center of PDX downtown.

My friend highly recommended the Lobster Carbonara, and it did not disappoint! It's on the pricier side, but they give you plenty of lobster meat so it was worth it. The food came out quickly, and I will be back to try more.

Not easy to find places that make pan roast, so I was excited to come here and try it out. I ordered the Seafood Combination Signature Pan Roast with rice. It was tasty. Flavorful and a good amount of seafood. I wish I had some hot sauce or red chili flakes to add to it; I would've loved it to be spicy. Next time, I'd like to try it also with the bread.

Overall pretty good, but tad disappointed in the lobster roll. The lobster was ok & ok portion, the bread was the main disappointment - way too buttery & cheap tasting like the Texas toast from Walmart freezer aisle. The lobster was also hot which was good still w/ some fresh Parmesan & parsley tho there should've been more lobster for $27, and I prefer chilled lobster for my rolls. I was a fan of their signature Pan Roast dish, which is a rich creamy bisque w/ ur choice of seafood or combo served w/ bread or white rice (or both). The bread served w/ this is much better than the lobster roll bread btw. Not cheap, but pretty decent seafood & they also have some pasta dishes too.

Embedded within The Flock is Pan Roast - a fancier-side of what you would call a food pod. They serve an array of seafood dishes that captures that essence very well. The ambiance of the place is very lively. Great lighting and plenty of seating for those who would like to enjoy a nice lunch. The food was good - but nothing great in my honest opinion. The pan roast itself was good but there was just a lot of wine in our sauce - probably forgot the reduction. The lobster roll was good. Definitely a good place to try at least once!

Smells so so so good Combination pan roast with all the seafood rich and creamy. A bit salty- mix it and it get better. Balanced by the bread. The clams are in the shell. The seafood is so fresh. You literally pay what you get. I'm so impressed by how fresh it is Oyster was small and very fresh. I would get a 1/2 dozen

A nice seafood option in Flock food hall. I went on a busy Friday night and the food still came out in about 15 minutes. I had the shrimp roll with a side of Caesar salad. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the roll was soft, buttery, and garlicky. I throughly enjoyed the roll so my only gripe is that I wish the portion was larger. The Caesar salad was decent, nothing special. I also tried the shrimp pan roast, which was creamy and tasted reminiscent of a good tomato soup.

Came down to Flock, a new food hall by the Ritz on a rainy President's Day. Pretty full at 12:30 but we found two seats at the bar at Prime Tap House--guess we've got to get a beer! There are 6 or 7 restaurants serving food. Think--if food trucks were inside. Great different options for food choices and a tap room with beers, ciders and cocktails on draft. Staff everywhere was super friendly! I had the shrimp pan roast at Pan Roast. It was $18 and came with a creamy tomato broth which was DELICIOUS! Also came with rice or garlic bread. Probably had 8-9 good sized shrimp. Fantastic! Perfectly cooked and hit the comfort food spot. The only downside is that there probably isn't enough seating to accommodate as many people as there are restaurants.

So first off the inside food court is awesome. So many restaurants to choose from and a huge patio and seating. You do everything yourself. I chose to get pan roasts crab roll and waffle fries. I had very high hopes with this as it was my first time trying anything like it. It was delicious while I was eating it. The fries were nice and crispy but tasted like seafood somehow. Later that day I ended up getting sick from the roll though and noticed I didn't feel right after. So I'm not sure if it was just my stomach that day or the quality of the crab.

I had the cod fish and chips and honestly, this place is really good. You wouldn't expect for the reasonable price to have such a delicious meal to fill you up but the two piece cod fish and chips does just that! I do wish it was a little bit more crispy but can't really complain because it tasted just so dang good! Will definitely be coming back some more when the weather cools down cause this is easily going to be one of my go to places for fish and chips!

Really good food and good portion sizes. We had the lobster roll with side Caesar and the cod fish n chips. Cod was so crunchy with a tasty batter, and the waffle fries were also nicely fried and seasoned. Came with good tarter and cocktail sauce (cocktail sauce was more on the vinegar side which I love but just a warning). Lobster roll was good but especially the bread itself, very buttery!

I'd give this 6 stars if I could, the food was amazing. It came out so fast which was great because we were hungry. We got the crab bread, oysters, and the pan roast combination and crab. Everything was so good, flavored to perfection. Definitely coming here again and bringing others.

They stuffed the lobster roll FULL of lobsta! It was so good. Even the dang bun was perfect. Yes. Yes.Yes. Only gripe is the ordering process. I wanted the chowder with the lobster tail but I couldn't find it on the kiosk and all the employees were so busy I didn't want to buy them for help. BUT I'm still happy with the lobster roll

I admit I was skeptical about the bread bowl given the price point but yeah.... It's totally worth it. The bowl itself was perfection for this job given the nice crunchy crust while also being tearable which is a must for a bread bowl. Not only did it have the giant lobster tail as many have pictured but inside it has large prawns and clams in the shell. I will definitely have this again.

This is a really cool location. A little brew house and a few other restaurants in a cafeteria area. We had to try Pan Roast first and it didn't disappoint. Great chowder, no grit in the clams, and some juicy lobster tail. The pasta was cooked great and everything came out quickly and fresh. You just order at the counter and find a seat, so very laid back vibe.

Stopped by here because mom had a fish and chips craving and we ordered the 2pc halibut ($18). The fish was solid and fry was good but the portion (v small and thin slices) was pretty darn sad for the price tag. We might come back to try other items but won't be ordering fish and chips again.

Stopped by for lunch and it was starting to get busy! Overwhelmed by all the options but I picked a winner with the Seafood Allo Scoglio in White Wine Lemon sauce. I felt so fancy on a Monday! Fresh & delicious, plenty of seafood. It took about 13 minutes to receive my order. Excited to try the rest of the menu!

At Pan Roast inside the Flock location in Portland, the food is nothing short of exceptional. One standout dish is the lobster sandwich, which is incredibly buttery and flavorful, with tender lobster meat nestled between perfectly toasted bread. The richness of the butter complements the sweetness of the lobster, creating a mouthwatering balance that is truly satisfying. That's the only thing I've tried though as I love a good sandwich but looking forward to trying the other dishes when I return.

The carbonara was made with perfection. It's a simple dish but it's hard to get it right. Pan roast though absolutely nailed it! The lobster in the pasta was also very fresh and delicious. I will definitely be coming back to try their crab rolls and other seafood pasta options.

This place looked pretty good so my mom and I tried the Fish and Chips Cod for $12. I was very disappointed with the fish and chips. The fish should have been the star, but it just came with two skinny pieces and the batter was soggy. There was no crunch to the fish even when we got it. The waffle fries were cooked nicely. There was nothing special about the coleslaw. I liked how it came with a couple different sauces. People said the lobster roll and pan roast was good, so I'd be open to coming back and trying those. I wouldn't recommend the fish and chips though!

Quite possibly the best lobster roll I've had in Portland yet. If you haven't yet checked out Pan Roast, highly recommend you do so. Stopped in as I was in the area to grab a quick bite and I was not disappointed. Although they were very busy, I got my food 10 mins after ordering and it was delicious. Decent portion of lobster for the price and yummy flavor.

This is some of the best seafood I've ever had! I expected a full restaurant but it's just a small kitchen in a food hall. I had the signature pan roast and crab bread! I might come back tomorrow!

very good seafood table in flock food court！ both bowl and roll and noodle are really tasty. Good choice for a simple lunch or dinner when city walk in Portland downtown！

Stopped by for happy hour but was a bit disappointed that the touch-screen ordering system hadn't been updated with happy hour pricing, and staff weren't able to accommodate it. Hopefully that gets resolved soon, as it could make a difference once people are aware. The food, however, was solid. The oyster was fresh and came with both a vinaigrette and cocktail sauce. Both were great complements. The oyster itself was a good size and had a clean, briny taste. The clam chowder was thicker and chunkier than I'm used to, but still flavorful. Adding garlic bread as a side was a great touch it brought a satisfying crunch and paired well with the soup. (Came with the soup) The ambience was nice, summer breeze coming through the open windows/garage doors and a good amount of open seating made for a relaxing atmosphere. Overall, a decent experience with good food, and I'd consider returning, especially once the happy hour menu situation is sorted out.

Where else can you get a $24 lobster roll any day of the week? Their signature pan roast is delicious (comes with rice or bread) annnnd I suggest the seared ahi tuna as an appetizer.

They nailed everything, I had ahi tuna fish n chips and also 6 oysters in shells- fresh and delicious. She had a lobster roll...My parents had other stuff...we were all very impressed. The CRAB BREAD IS RIDICULOUSLY GOOD. Also it's in this cool random food court thing called The Flock Food Hall. I had no idea that existed before I went looking for this place. Nice atmosphere, clean...great place for a casual dinner.

I really absolutely hate leaving poor reviews, but I did not have a good experience. I was beyond excited to get their lobster roll. I had seen that other people had quoted that it was the best lobster roll in Portland. But I was beyond disappointed. My lobster roll and lobster itself was extremely dry. I was craving aïoli or garlic butter to drizzle on top. The lobster itself was very dry and had a very fishy odor to it. I will give it a two out of five because the french fries were great. Basketweave fries that were super crunchy and served the side of malt vinegar which was delicious. But I was very disappointed in my $25 lobster roll that I didn't even finish. He was fishy dry And needed more sauce.

Tried on a recent trip to Portland. Seafood at its finest, so much flavor. Staff were amazing. Will be back the next time I'm in town.

Not my best photography but oh my lord is it crowded on a Sunday! Very busy, but you should still come hungry. The food is so good it makes your mouth water. My friend got the shrimp pan roast, he's from Louisiana, and said it was crazy good! I'll be trying that dish the next time I make my way there. I got the shrimp roll myself, which I also got at their Camas location and it is just about the best shrimp delight-filled meal ever! I for sure need to branch out and try more from them, especially given that it's all mouth-watering goodness. Flock is a very cafeteria feel in the coolest way. It's hustle and bustle but everyone is very friendly and looking out for each other. Highly recommend making the trip. If you prefer it a little bit slower then maybe try their camas location at Oak Tree food pods.

Oh wow. So many good options but I went for the signature pan roast and it was the best bisque I've ever had. There is some spicy heat to complement the rich and deep flavor and it was so filling. The garlic bread was the perfect pairing. Have to go back and try the pastas.

Worst seafood ever had and that's saying a lot. Rubbery, bland, under seasoned and sad with all the local produce you'd think they'd bought these at grocery store or gas station. Disappointed don't bother.

We ordered take out. We ordered cod fish n chips, clam chowder, and the deep friend artichoke hearts..nothing was impressive. The fish had very heavy breading, it wasn't crispy, there was maybe 4oz of fish total. The artichoke hearts were not good, they had barely any breading, they were soggy and undercooked ...they tasted like they were canned artichoke hearts. The coleslaw had no flavor, the clam chowder wasn't horrible but had way too much garlic. Maybe the pan roast is better? Not sure I will try again.

Can't get this out of my head. Stopped in for lunch and was blown away. The pan roast was fabulous and like nothing I have ever had before. The clam chowder was the best I have ever tasted. The staff is so friendly and fabulous. Such great comfort food on a rainy day. Will visit this place every time I come to Portland.

The pan roast looked like the perfect winter weather take out to my hotel room. My first time here and they only had the shrimp and clam available so I went with shrimp. Quite good, and the rest of the menu looks superb as well. I'm going to have to go back a few more times while I'm in the neighborhood.

Very fresh seafood, amazing bread, chowder bowls, and amazing seating selections in the food court area. This place was amazing and for as fresh and delicious as the food was, the service was very fast great ambience for date night or dinner with the family.

Got the sea food pasta dish and loved it! Perfect mix of clams, shrimp, and fish. Seasoning was great. Loved the location in The Flock with options to get a beer as well.

My friend and I had some halibut and chips from Pan Roast. The food was fresh, tasty, and prepared quickly. We were sharing a four piece meal and asked for an extra plate and sauces. They also threw another order of coleslaw on there without any up charge. Not too many places do that anymore!

so incredibly bad can't believe anyone would enjoy this grocery store quality chowder and canned crab ultimately disgusting experience. The lobster tail I was so excited to try fried but for 22$ the unseasoned breading was just dripping soaked with grease and chunks of at most a 3oz tail was just rubbery old fish flavor. The scampi pasta had little protein and no flavor especially garlic butter you expect with scampi. Ended up making homemade garlic clove clarified butter to try to eat the 65$ (with 12$ tip) fried lobster tail, overcooked farmed shrimp scampi with 10$ crab (body no leg/claw meat) pasta and cup of chowder (so glad didn't do the bread bowl 36$ option). Nothing about this seafood is fresh and supposed "pan roasted" options short of a completely different chef over what at best had to be a line order cook serving junk like this in the Pacific Northwest with tons of quality in season seafood options there's nothing worth wasting your time and money for here the high end price reflects nothing for what they actually serve. full price Whole Foods to recreate this meal: 9$ 3oz frozen lobster tail, 1.59 progressive chowder can soup, can of body snow crab (with extra claw/leg meat more than they gave me) 4.75 can and box of organic spaghetti 1.29 Total 4 times what I paid And quality I wouldn't serve at home with my family let alone a restaurant dedicated to serving seafood.
