I love this adorable Mexican bakery. One of my go-to spots in the Pilsen neighborhood. I always get the jalapeño cream cheese bread and am lucky enough that there are always a couple left. Prices are very affordable. The breads are always fresh and flavorful.

What can I say about this place! Simple awesome you want a Mexican bread you hit the jackpot the bread is mouthwatering the service is supreme, I can't say anything wrong about this place only thanks for the awesome bread. So if you are around you have to have bread from this place you're going to thank me later.

Best bread in the city! The taste is very unique and honestly I have such a hard time finding pan de acambaro that has this unique taste. My favorite is Nata flavor. If they don’t have it then I just get the original, but the price I fair. I think they should be open a bit longer honestly. But if you are looking for not good, but amazing tasting bread go here. You will not regret it.

This bakery is excellent. They make their pastries from scratch. They make excellent bread pudding, puff pastries, and you can also find full size loafs of speciality bread. I'm excited to try the Tres Leches, 3 Milks, bread. The lady working that day was bilingual and she was so nice!

Always open... great bread selection. As you walk in get ready to be taken way back. The smell is just lije it's taste, pure authentic baked bread. You will have a smile with your next atole or coffee.

Great little bakery with an excellent cross-section of Mexican sweet bread and cakes. Try the guayaba-filled pastries; a delicious, tangy fruit flavor that goes well with hot chocolate.

Right off the pink line on 18th stop. I love there big conchas. There around $3 i think but its worth it. They're freshly baked everyday. Just don't go around closing time if you want one, they're usually sold out by that time. Cash and card accepted. I really recommend this place.

Pies oh my wonderful pies!!! Panderia Acambaro 1720 W 18th St, Chicago, IL 60608. My favorites are Pecan and Key Line. My wife who is pregnant loves the coconut cream and pumpkin. Our daughter loves Smores amore, but she puts it under the broiler to get the marshmallow topping gooey. They actually make everything from scratch even the marshmallow topping. It is our favorite spot for pie. So long Bakers Square. I hope you try it and enjoy.

Hello deliciousness! I am so happy I discovered this bakery. I was at the dentist right next door (ironic right?) and couldn't help but walk in. My goodness, it smelled heavenly. It smelled as if they had just got done baking. They had plenty of pastries on display and all you have to do is get a tray and some tongs and fill it up with whatever you want. I'm only in the Pilsen area when I have to go to the dentist every 6-7 months, so I decided to get one of each of whatever they had available that day. I was getting ready to pay about 40$ but the entire total came out to 13$. Cheap and crazy delicious? Count me in. This place is a Pilsen gem for sure and an absolutely must visit!

Came here because the Nuevo Leon Bakery doesn't carry tres leches. This places has 3 flavors of tres leches: regular vanilla, caramel, and chocolate. From the look of the milk in the bottom, it seems like that the cake would be really sweet, but surprisingly it's not! I personally don't like the ones with too much condensed milk in the bottom. A slice is $3 and it's good for two people to share.

Conchas tasted like they were 2 days old. I don't see the hype. I've been to so many panaderías since I was a little girl and this one is the worst one I've been to. Terrible customer service, the lady was rude. I asked a question and the lady didn't even look at to what I was pointing at and just said "son bollios",...like uh ok,....I wasn't even pointing to that. Hardly anything in stock. Bollios didn't even look fresh. WOOF. Wagners is better. I won't be back here again. Such a shame cuz my daughter's daycare is right across the street and she loves conchas.

This is for my vegan latines! I haven't been able to find vegan conchas for years that taste like the ones I had as a kid. The señoras were so sweet and helpful to point out all the vegan pastries (they even have separate trays and tongs so that there is no cross contamination). It makes me happy to know that I am still able to participate in such a simple cultural custom without feeling left out. Cant wait to take my family here.

I love pan!! When I saw this place, I had to go in. It's small and it smelled like they had just got done baking all the fresh bread. You get a tray and some tongs, then go and pick what ever pan you want from the cases. There are so many to chose from so good luck getting just a few pieces. I got two empanadas (pineapple and apple) and a concha. They were so good. The concha was super soft and very flavorful and the empanadas were flaky and soft on the inside with lots of fruit.

It's Cinco de Mayo, so of course I'm on the lookout for a good panaderia. This one is just down the street from the 18th St CTA Pink Line stop, and was casting out such enticing aromas as I was running down to the Mexican candy shop down the road that I had to stop inside. My jaw nearly dropped when I saw the prices. $3 for giant baked breads bigger than your cabeza? The setup of the store was strangely reminiscent of some smaller Chinese bakeries I've been in, so I didn't feel too out of place looking around. The selection actually isn't that big, and consists mostly of pan dulce, cookies, and muffins. I ended up getting an Empanada w/ Guava, a Polvoron, a cookie, and some Pan de Tres Leches. The Polvoron and Galleta were kind of dry and too powdery for my liking, but the lady working there told me they were famous for their Pan de Tres Leches. That Pan did not disappoint, and neither did the empanada! They're simple yet tasty, and great if you have a sweet craving but don't want sugar overkill. And even more to my surprise, they accept card payments!

This was such a short walk from my Airbnb so i figures I give it a go since there were so many reviews and it was an /amazing/ choice. You can't go wrong with anything here. Croissants if you like airy, buttery tastes. The pineapple flavored what looks like empanadas? Whatever it was, it was a pocket full of crunchy pastry dough on the outside and gorgeous, gooey pineapple filling on the inside. There were also these huge blocks of fluffy sweet bread that were only a dollar. So worth; I definitely recommend the (cream) cheese and the pineapple. Lastly, I always have to try a bakery's simple doughnut. They have one that's not glazed but coated in granulated sugar and it was amazing. I could only imagine what it would taste like if I microwaved it for a hot second and served it with some ice cream. Every item I got for a $1 a STEAL. Thank you for the good eats!!!! ‍

So I was looking for a nice bakery to pick up some treats for my hubby and I. Found them on Yelp and decided to give them a shot. Looks like a nice, family-owned type of place. Everyone was friendly and answered all my questions about the products (and I had many questions). I settled on a couple of fruit empanadas (guava and pineapple), a strawberry yo-yo, a pink pan dulce, an almond muffin, and a guava-filled puff pastry (can't remember name). The empanadas were very filled with fruit and very tasty!!! I want mooore! The pan dulce was soft and tender. The puff pastry thing was just alright; I probably wouldn't that again. It was all puff pastry and just a dab of guava. I haven't tried the muffin or the yo-yo yet but I am excited to see how they are. Can't wait to go back to this bakery to get some more of those juicy empanadas!

Def, this little shop surpasses my expectations. Pastries are very generous portions! Bread's texture is amazingly soft, and fresh! Filling is made up of fresh fruits: guava, strawberry, pineapple ... yo/yo is to die for, with a fine coconut outer coating! Tried guava empanada and sweet potatoes and were perfect!! Can not wait to go back and try pan grande and 3 milk brea!!

We bought a big loaf of pointy bread with cinnamon and vanilla, sorry but I forgot the name. It smelled heavenly and it tastes just as good! Not too sweet with enough spices to make it interesting, crusty on the outside and so soft inside. Have had it sliced with butter for breakfast every single day this weekend, sometimes dipping it in my cafe con leche, and it is glorious!

This panaderia is amazing, hands down! Very good price & even better taste. A hidden gem in Pilsen that everyone should visit. My family recently bought our Día de Reyes rosca here and it's the best tasting rosca we've ever had.

Walked by and decided to stop in. So glad that I did. While I usually go to Nuevo Leon to the east, the pan grande here will have me coming back! It is absolutely delicious and soft on the inside. I agree with another Yelp reviewer that the eggy delightfulness is similar to challah. Regardless, at $3 it is very reasonable. I also snacked on a sweet potato empanada while I waited for the train a few doors away. Now, how do I not finish the pan grande in one day?!

Splurged on the family this weekend and got a tres leches cake for all! It was a great way to end the weekend on a beautiful sweet note! This cake is hands down the best tres leches cake I have ever had! If you don't think so... get a hold of me... I will refund your purchase... jk! Even though no one would ever think that this was not best! It is just sweet enough and it is just liquidy enough and the cake still has great texture to it!!! Perfect balance!!!

The pan dulces is to die for! Cashier was so helpful and nice! Stop by while you explore Pilsen and you will not be sorry! We are hoping to squeeze one more visit before our trip is over for sure!

We were walking around Pilsen today and saw this bakery before getting on the Pink Line/18th Street Station. This place is great! A wide selection of breads and desserts all at incredibly reasonable prices. I have never seen such a large brownie for only $1.00! The smells reminded me of being in a bakery from my long ago childhood - fresh baked breads, sugar, etc. Great customer service - the staff was outstanding - answered all our questions with a smile. This place is worth the trip if you do not live in Pilsen. Just an outstanding neighborhood bakery.

WOW. This bakery is just incredible. I ordered a cake from here and received a full consultation on the design and flavor of the cake. My friends were blown away by the aesthetic and look of the cake. I mean fresh strawberry and guava jam between each layer?! Yes please! Seriously, why go to jewel or marianos when you have a place like this. Im going to come here for any special occasion that requires cake! Cant wait to try their other goods!!

I live in Pilsen I've been coming here for years with my parents I remember when they used to be $.25 a cookie but now of course increased to like $.75 the most I think I bought something was 2.25. I love their concha bread their cookies and everything in there is good but If you haven't been shopping there as long as I have you might get something stale but I know the days when they make Bolios fresh tortillas and even the cookies because sometimes I got caught getting a stale one but am able to returned it and got fresh one. They also sell cinnamon coffee from the pot fresh I like that, I don't like the machine they use water to make hot Chocolate.

Super cheap!! (like big brownies at 1$ or so) On site bakery with fresh things out of the oven!! Great home-made quality!! Highly recommended!

The people there are so nice. And, the "big bread" is simply delicious! Very pleasantly surprised and will definitely spread the word about them. :)

The loaf of pan dulce here is great. Like Panaderia Nuevo Leon down the street, pretty much everything is good. They sell these delicious burnt macaroons at the counter. The staff are super friendly.

I work near by so would come here often. One morning I went in and saw the worker touching the pastries where bare hands. I didn't say anything and made sure to purchase something already packaged. Yesterday I walked by and again saw another person doing the same. Lifting, turning, and organizing w her bare hands. I walked in and told her she should be wearing gloves. She said yes she should be but didn't stop or skip a beat and continued. I told her I would no longer be coming in. Go up the street..I believe Nuevo Leon. Much better selection and they say they are prohibited from touching any food wo gloves.

One word: AMAZING El Acambaro made my daughter's 4th birthday cake and it turned out absolutely amazing. When I walked in the bakery I did not really know what kind of cake I wanted, just that I wanted a fiesta theme. The baker took the time to consult with me and took the theme and ran with it. The final product surpassed my expectations by a million. It had two layers of fresh fruit and jam and a smooth fancy exterior with handmade chili pepper and maracas as decorations. I had bought a little sombrero to add and was a bit concerned the frosting would get on the felt, but she was genius and used a thin piece of bakers plastic to protect it. Her magical baker skills were on full display and everyone at my daughter's birthday party wanted to know where I bought it. Besides being amazing looking, the cake was also sooo good. Some non-cake eaters confided they don't normally like cake, but they loved this cake. It was also incredibly affordable. I would have paid 3x more at any other bakery and a grocery store cake would never come close to the quality. For fresh fruit, amazing presentation and a very reasonable price come here. Also, they have really, really good queso pan (sold daily I believe). Soo good. This is my new favorite panaderia.

This may be my new favorite panaderia in Pilsen, although its selection is certainly not as wide as some others...but! They have really excellent, fresh bread that almost reminds me of challah. It's a slightly sweet egg bread sprinkled with a few golden raisins, and it's highly addictive. Plus, at $2.02 per very large loaf, including tax, it's an absurd bargain. On their official grand opening day recently, they'd filled their entire front window with this particular item, so I'd assume it's their specialty. Now it isn't quite as prominently featured, but you can easily find it. If I lived in Pilsen I'd get a loaf every week.

This bakery is just around the corner from my apartment, and I stop in at least weekly. My neighbors welcomed me to the neighborhood with some of El Acambaro's empanadas, and I fell in love. The fruit empanadas (pineapple, guava, vanilla, pumpkin) are really good when you warm them up for breakfast, or a snack anytime! It's a small place and doesn't have a ton of variety, but you can't beat the price - 60 cents for an empanada!

came in here couple of days before 5co de Mayo and ordered about 500 Conchas and yo-yos. set up a pick up time and everything i've ordered was there ready on time and most important it was FRESH and still warm. quality is also at a high level. definitely will be back and not regretting the price i had to pay. if you are around and you have a sweet tooth, this is a must stop place
