Four Chicago-Area Restaurant Shutters to Know - Eater Chicago

"Panaderia La Central, a Mexican bakery that’s been under the CTA Blue Line’s California stop for more than a decade has closed. Block Club Chicago noticed the windows were boarded up at 2218 N. California Avenue. There’s a second location in Humboldt Park at 3911 W. North Ave." - Daniel Gerzina

I have been coming here for more than 5 years and I'm never disappointed! The lady at the register is so sweet and lovely. My favorites are the orejas and honestly anything else. It's always baked fresh and always warms my heart and nose with the sweet smell once you enter.

Get the donut with white frosting. You won't regret it. Dunkin is trash compared to this place. Lovely, friendly people who work there too. We've had several pastries from here - super cheap, fresh, and delicious!!!

No frills neighborhood bakery featuring fresh french bread and pastries. Pick up a tray and fill it up because everything is only 50 cents! They specialize in Mexican sweets so skip the heavy-handed croissants.

I enjoy their sweets and prices. It reminds me of the neighborhood bakery I used to go to when I lived in Texas. It's best to go early when the selection is freshest.

59 cents/each for everything! Can't beat that and it's alway fresh. The ladies at the counter are very nice so I'll definitely be back.
