Yelp
Cinco De Mayo has that "homespun Mexican taqueria" look that I can't resist, so I had to stop in and try their tacos. They are actually a combination bakery, grocery store, and taqueria. I saw signs out front that said their tortillas are handmade, and that's a plus. I ordered three tacos: Carne Asada, Carnitas, and Al Pastor. They have a small seating area off to the side so I ate there. First of all, the good part is that their handmade tortillas had sort of a fluffy quality which made them better than the usual tortillas you get at most other taco places. Unfortunately, the disappointing part is that the Carne Asada was quite gristly and the meat seemed to be randomly cut into various inconsistent sized pieces which makes for sort of an uneven, squishy load inside a tortilla. Also, the Carnitas was damp and runny, and I bit into two BIG pieces of cartilage, which was unpleasant. What saved my meal from being a total disappointment was the Al Pastor. It was a pleasantly spicy/sweet. . .and (thankfully) didn't contain any gristle or cartilage. Yes, the Al Pastor alone was pretty good. This place will not be a "destination" taco place for me, although I might stop in for the Al Pastor if I was hungry and also happened to be nearby.
