The Best Doughnut Shops in Minneapolis and St. Paul | Eater Twin Cities

"San Miguel serves tantalizing, rice pudding-stuffed doughnuts. The chewy dough and rich pudding make for excellent combo: This doughnut is delicately sweet, a little heavy in the hand, and more filling than your average mid-day treat. Pair it with a fresh churro or concha to go." - Serena Maria Daniels

The Best Bakeries in Minneapolis and St. Paul | Eater Twin Cities

"Grab a tray and wind your way through Panaderia San Miguel, owned by Beatriz and Miguel Rubio, one of Lake Street’s standout destinations for Mexican pan dulces and pasteles. Favorites here are the conchas (crackly, delicately sweet, and puffed to the size of grapefruits), the fluffy raised doughnuts stuffed with a subtly sweet rice pudding, and the tres leches. Pastries here are baked daily and tend to sell out." - Stacy Brooks

Stopped by Panaderia San Miguel on Sunday 4/6 around 9:30 AM. The place looks great, and the bread selection is solid. I was checking the softness of some loaves with the tongs when a guy came in and pretty bluntly told me not to press them—said they were all the same. He didn’t say good morning or anything, so I greeted him first, but the vibe stayed kind of cold. He answered a question I had about a pastry, rang me up, and that was it—pretty short and not super friendly. Great atmosphere, but they could definitely be a bit more welcoming.

Gosh for years this place has been my favorite bakery but after they made my wedding cake I fell in love with them all over again. I went in after being disappointed at a different bakery 2 weeks before my wedding. They not only took my order but asked in detail what flavors, how did I want it decorated, what colors, what flavors. I called the day before my wedding with questions about my cake and they answered them right away. They delivered my cake to the venue with no problems. When we cut and served the cake everyone kept saying how delicious it was. My cake was a 3-tier cake - top and bottom tiers were mocha and middle tier strawberry. It was supposed to serve 100 ppl I had around 50 guests and almost everyone got seconds and hardly had any leftovers, we sliced the cakes kind of big. Thank you San Miguel for making our wedding cake!!!

I bought a Rosca de Reyes but the design was ugly, but otherwise the break was tasty.

Panaderia San Miguel made the cake for a wedding I ran this past weekend. They delivered the cake on time, the couple said it was delicious, and the ordering process was smooth. Thank you to the Panaderia San Miguel team for their part in a great wedding!

You can get so much pastry for so cheap here. We went later in the day and everything was a bit dry. Might be better to go earlier in the day.

They make the best tasting 3 leches juicy cakes. The only problem is sometimes the people work there have a language barrier i could not call them and order my cakes because there was no one who spoke English. Other than that this place makes awesome great quality great tasting juicy cakes.

Yelp
San Miguel has a wide variety of pan. I came here on a recommendation of a friend, looking for a specific pastry, the "Niño envuelto." They actually had a version of it, but not the specific one I wanted. Don't forget to grab some tamales on your way out too!!

Yelp
My husband and I love San Miguel's! The owner, victor, has always been wonderful to work with. We love their cream cheese jalapeño pastries. We have also enjoyed serving them at Ninth Street Soccer and Coffee for futbol matches.

Yelp
If Mexican Pan Dulces and Pasteles intrigue you, take a trip to San Miguel, a dainty little shop near the Mercado Central, located between Pupuseria & Restaurant & Cadillac Pawn. The Pan Dulces and Pasteles are fresh and baked daily as they run out. Not a big selection of pastries compared to Marissa's bakery; but be that as it may San Miguel still is far more competitively priced than the average doughnut or pastry shop. You go in, grab a tray and a pair of tongs and start loading up everything from Polverones, Conchas, Cuernos, to Cema and Chorreadas all on the menu here. "El hombre no sólo vive de pan", if true, than this is the closest you will ever get to spiritual pastry.

Yelp
A humble bakery on the east end of lake st The conchas here are A-1. Very tasty and tender. An overall nice selection comparable with many similar items and a few I haven't seen at other local Panaderias. The staff were helpful and friendly. I didn't get any standoffish vibe I have experienced at a couple of other places.

Yelp
I am so glad I found this place! As a recent transplant to the Twin Cities I've been trying to replace the things/food I loved in my hometown. I work on Lake Street so the nearness in proximity of San Miguel is perfect. Primos are my absolute favorite. They are the little gingerbread pig shaped cookies. Anything filled with sweet potato or pumpkin gets my money as well. The conchas (large round sugar covered bread) and the pink cookies are delicious as well. The prices are great here! Grab some tongs and a tray, pile on the carbs, and roll yourself home. Pretty sure it's getting ready to move up the street, though. Keep your eyes peeled!

Yelp
Great bread for a good price! The cakes are always consistent in flavor and quality of design.
