We enjoyed our stay with our pup in a cabin at Panamint Springs. The cabin was cozy, very comfortable and sufficient for our overnight stay. We had some privacy being on the end at the back of the campground. Welcomed by a vast desert vista with an amazing sunset! No complaints. Everything was clean and efficient, check-in at the store was quick and easy. The restaurant looked good, but we didn't actually eat there.

From before our arrival, we felt welcomed. We received a detailed email letting us know driving directions and what we need to do if we came after hours. In fact, we arrived after 11:00pm, and thanks to the note and map, found our way to our Cabin #18.||The cabin was spotless. The bed was super comfortable. Lighting and ventilation were ideal. The finishing work (the use of the wood on the trim) was just so simple and beautiful. The shower worked great. As others have mentioned, the bathroom is a bit small, but it was functional and the hot water was wonderful. My only wish had been for better wifi (even at the restaurant). In the end, it was okay to have a day without being connected. After all, isn't that part of why we're on vacation? We only stayed one night, but it was an extremely comfortable night at that!

The tent was really comfortable even though it was very hot out. The zipper to the mesh entry screen would not zip, but there was still a cross-breeze with the window screens. The food at the restaurant across the street was very good and they had wifi.

We arrived at Lone Pine to discover that our three nights in the campground were cancelled: campground closed! No great alternatives so we called Panamint and reserved for two nights. Great choice. Site under a shade tree. This was a great place to use to spend time in Death Valley. Nice bathrooms and hot water showers. Fine views also. Are in the restaurant for dinner. Great food, friendly folks and good service!

We stayed in one of the cloth tents. The night we were there it was windy and had no issues. Sat by the fire pit just outside (before the wind). Pleasant experience. Lots of stars, friendly people. Cots were comfortable for cots. Lots of bedding for when the temperature dropped. Cozy.

Camped here. This campground was nicer than many of the other campgrounds in Death Valley. It was however a long drive to do day trips to many of the more popular sites within Death Valley. They do have a nice restaurant with good service, gas station, and general store. If someone were to ask me, "would I stay there again?"... Absolutely, yes. Also, there were gorgeous wildflowers nearby in the Panamint Valley, about 5 minute drive from the campground during my stay.

Peaceful location close to Death Valley National Park.|Beautiful views during sunrise and sunset.|Quiet. While next to a road, there is zero traffic.|Non commercial accommodation - lovely and rustic.|Fire pits are a great little addition outside the properties to enjoy the evening desert atmosphere after a long day exploring Death Valley.|On site accommodation for breakfast and dinner was very good.|Evening host was amazing. Very helping providing local knowledge of sunrise spots, helping make special holiday moments. Great banter too!

We stayed 2 nights in the Miner's Cabin, which is out at far end of the RV campground. Strongly recommend this to Death Valley first timers and/or those who want to have a bit of comfort in between their outings. The cabin has a nice little porch with 2 seats, was great to sit there in the early mornings and evenings around sundown. A host of desert lizards can be spotted from your seat, munching on desert vegetation and staking their claims to whatever space they were occupying. Beyond that, because the cabin faces away from the campground and road, just a big, quiet vista. You can see the Panamint Dunes so far off and backed by the mountain range, this place was great to recharge your batteries between outings to the different parts of the park. AC and ceiling fans worked great, giving comfort through the nights after a nice hot shower. Have to mention how CLEAN this cabin was; we would just stop in during the day to hit the bathroom or refill our water supplies and it was always so inviting, we would stop to have another beer on the patio before heading out Great thing about the location, along with the privacy, there is a general store / gas station where you check in. Having gas at your base of operations is always a plus for starting the day. Also had a fantastic restaurant next door that I strongly encourage you to check out. Wifi at both locations allowed us to share some pictures from the day's outings with our families back home. So if you want a comfortable stay in DV while still feeling like you're out in the desert,. strongly recommend seeing if the Miner's Cabin is available.

Yelp
We stopped only to have lunch. We had their fish & chips. It was so good and crispy. I had a specialty house margarita. Friendly staff gave us a bit of history on the town. The Darwin Falls access point is closed due to the storm last year. It was really disappointing to drive all that way and not be able to see it.

Yelp
I wasn't expecting anything special but I was surprised. I had both dinner and breakfast here and enjoyed both meals very much. I had a dinner salad (grilled chicken added) with house dressing which was just perfect. All of the vegetables were fresh and flavorful and the house dressing is unique and subtle. You could tell that somebody put their time and effort into into making this a nice meal. My server was Diedra, I believe, who is engaging, attentive and thoughtful. I felt the same way about breakfast with thick, delicious French Toast, awesome home fries and scrambled eggs. All of it better than I find in most cafes, let alone those in remote places. Breakfast server was "Cassell" and he was also very attentive and thoughtful.

Yelp
Not my first experience here and I absolutely love this place. Great little spot on the west side of DV accessible from Ridgecrest and or Lone Pine. Store, Gas, Restaurant, hotel, cabins, RVs and campground. Everything you need is here. The store is also the check in point for lodging. They have fountain drinks, coffee, ice cream, tons of snacks and some staples such as bread charcoal or paper products. Lots of potential necessities too such as fire wood, propane, tape, glue and the like. Most anything you could need. This isnt a grocery store and you'll need to plan accordingly. For my trip however, we ate exclusively at the restaurant and were thrilled with the results. Good hot food from 7am to 9pm. Nice selection of beer and wine. I'm told they have a full bar but only during the peak season. That part is confusing I guess but doesn't matter to me because the beer and wine that I had were excellent. Nice hot breakfast lunch and dinner. We chose a tent cabin or "glamping" cabin I think they're called and were very satisfied. All sites have a nice canvas tent set up on a cement pad. The tents are in good repair and the area was spotless. Inside the tents were 2 single wide pallets or cots. These are not the folding camping cots of old and they come with a nice 4" mattress. They also provide bedding consisting of sheets, pillow and case and 1 blanket. Be forewarned, this is probably not enough to keep you warm during the winter, so hopefully you pack your own for added comfort. The restrooms were adequate for our needs. This is a campsite bathroom so don't expect too much however it was perfect for me. Although the water pressure isn't great (to be expected) the water temp was exceptionally hot. After a long day exploring in the freezing cold, I couldn't have asked for more. Two showers for men's and women's each. When I walked in there was a strong comforting smell of bleach as at least the men's side was very very clean. Manage your expectations. If you're looking for a resort with fine linens, dining, cell service and wi if, then this ain't it. Maybe Vegas is more appropriate. This an amazing unique experience. Come prepared and you cannot be disappointed. The staff at this resort is amazing. To name a few..... Ritchie in the store is very personable, knowledgeable and always at the ready with directions and advice. Shawn and Brian in the restaurant are very attentive and eager to please. The lovely Amanda who was doing the housekeeping in the campsites but I imagine she works multiple duties and the beautiful Morgan who is quick witted with a smile and a very good server. The vibe here is definitely different than LA (thankfully). There seems to be a closeness with each other and we both enjoyed watching the interactions and banter amongst the staff. Check this place out, popular for motorcyclists and a great place to stop, even if just passing through.

Yelp
This is definitely off the beaten path. It's so quiet and peaceful. I was a little nervous because there was no internet or cell reception until the morning. I had to get closer to the general store. I had a greek salad at the restaurant not bad. If you could film a movie up here it's that cool. I was pleasantly surprised by my cabin room it must have been nine by 15 ft. The bed was clean the heater worked and the shower was immaculate. They even had nice little shampoos and conditioners and lotions that I was not expecting. Just be careful where you drive there are a lot of boulders in the path. It's a nice in between spot to your next destination. And the gentleman a in the general store always had a wonderful bright smile.

Yelp
Such a find here in Death Valley where we have struggled to find healthy or vegetarian food. Not only do they have a vegetarian option (any of the burgers can be substituted for a black bean veggie burger), but you may opt for sautéed vegetables as a side. We assumed that "sautéed vegetables" might mean mushy carrots or something similar in this "tavern" establishment, but broccolini with fresh garlic? Wow! The setting was comfortable enough, and the bar is actually quite beautiful - - made of a cool tree slab. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
This place has exceeded our expectations. We were going to go camping but the weather was too hot so we booked this convenient last minute motel. Great bed, air conditioning, and bathrooms. That's all we needed. The staff were friendly and helpful . Will most definitely be back to stay here.

Kaye E.

Yelp
Stayed: 3/4/24-3/9/24: We had the best view of Death Valley from our campsite. The camp bathrooms were flush toilet and very clean. This is big for us as we have encountered some disgusting facilities in other campgrounds. The restaurant was friendly and inviting. The staff is awesome and the restaurant offered a few vegan options. They treated us like friends. Even joked with us and had us laughing. Every employee we encountered was kind and helpful. This may be a distance from the main attractions but totally worth the stay and drive. My husband is doing a bicycle trip with friends this weekend and they will be staying at the same campground

Yelp
$15 for a tent site. Get the sites facing the mountain if you can. Bathrooms are decent. Little flooding in the showers...had to tell them bc no one else told them about the clogged toilets...but the fixed it.

Yelp
Love this spot, second time here. First in tent spot & most recently in the large glamping tent. Agreed that this is a nice departure from the hustle & bustle of stovepipe wells and furnace creek and is worth the extra drive. Close to mesquite flat sand dunes also. Beautiful scenery on the way. The tent was so Amazing after a long day out and quick one night in arriving in the dark. The large tent is so roomy, we had plenty of space and were able to prep our dinner on the concrete floor despite the windstorm. The tent is solid, lines secured with bolts to the concrete. We took sleeping bags, elevation is cool this time of year and blankets provided alone will not suffice. You cannot beat that all the linen is provided otherwise w/ pillows and towels. Close to Small, clean no frill bathroom & showers that's clean with little seen shower chair & bench for those who need. Picnic table with a shade tree and fire ring. The have a restaurant and very decent general store w/ souvenirs and lending book library & some interesting books by locals you can read on site on patio. Wi-Fi at restaurant/general store area in case you need while in otherwise cell free/remote area. The hours for those amenities are nice! A neighbor also recommended the cabins built in the 30s that are behind the restaurant. Close to mesquite flat sands dunes. Will definitely stay here & in the glamping tents again!!!! Also, emails were answered quickly w/ prompt attention when needed.

Yelp
A jewel at the edge of the earth! Rooms are very no-frills but clean and well maintained. Great food at the restaurant and even better views of Panamint Valley. Very friendly and responsive staff--had a great conversation during breakfast with our server, Pete. Always love staying here and will continue to do so!

Yelp
My mom and I had a wonderful stay in the cabins and a FANTASTIC dinner at the restaurant! Delicious and made more memorable by the hospitality and friendliness of our waitress, Morgan. We look forward to our next visit!

Yelp
We really didn't have high expectations staying just outside of Death Valley at this "resort ". Not even close, more like a truck stop where they charge by the hour. . As soon as I walked in the room, it reminded me of an episode of criminal minds, where some creepy guy was watching everybody in their motel rooms. There was less than the bare minimum in this room. There were two outlets, one outlet had a lamp and a portable heater plugged in so we were able to charge our phones on the other outlet, but it was right next to the first outlet so it was inconvenient. We arrived after a long day of driving, tired and hungry, and just wanting to shower and go to bed. We went over to the restaurant which looked good from the outside but inside that was another story. I had ribs, which had no taste and were definitely cooked in a crockpot. Our bill was $90 for two dinners, which was ridiculous.. $186 a night, tiny crappy room with a gross even tinier bathroom. Barely room in the shower, rust on the walls and mildew, ew, the shower head was impossible to keep from sending water out of the shower stall. Carpet was continually wet in front of the shower. Tiny pedestal sink also leaking. No where to even put a toothbrush. The room had a portable heater, 1 bedside table. No phone, TV, internet, dresser or even hangers for clothes. You could barely walk by the foot of the bed to get to the bathroom. Walls so thin you could hear your neighbor fart! Unfortunately, the people in the next room were talking all night until midnight, and we could hear every word they were saying we finally had to bang on the wall to ask them to be quiet. I do not recommend this establishment The staff was extremely friendly

Yelp
This place was great! Ben, Amanda, Jason, Morgan, James, another Jason, Shawn and Lenn were so kind and helpful the whole time we were there! We stayed in our tent the first night and the last night of our visit to Death Valley we ended up staying in one of their glamping tents. We really had a great time at this rustic resort because of these people! I definitely recommend this establishment! It may look a little rustic but nice hot showers, clean linens, good food and wonderful people make it very welcoming! Special thanks to Al the tow truck driver from American Towing out of Ridgecrest!

Yelp
Solo female travelers be wary. I stayed here 1 night after spending the day in DV. I parked at the motel at about 7:30 pm and at 10 pm I went to my car to head up the road and stargaze and my windshield wipers had been pulled up. No other cars had the same and I definitely didn't do it. I put them down and left to stargaze and came back. When I woke up before sunrise they luckily hadn't been put back up. For those unaware this is a common trafficking tactic because it distracts the target. Sure, it could have been someone pranking me or casing my car for a break in, but in a dark, remote spot with no service, I wouldn't take my chances. I don't assume it's a local, an employee at the restaurant had never heard of a similar scenario, but maybe someone saw me checking-in/dining alone, figured out which car was mine, and took advantage of the situation. It's worth the extra money (not that this place would be considered cheap given the room quality) or longer drive to feel more safe. I really hope this is a one off situation or a misunderstanding on my part but there is no way to really know.

Yelp
I am leaving a review for the tent camping section (using your own tent) We camped here to explore Death Valley and it had some 5 star quality and some 1 star quality - so I decided to split the difference - and am giving them 3 stars! 1 star because it is really close to the main road going into the park and it can be a bit noisy. The tent spaces are extremely close together and are in a grid with nothing dividing you from the next group except a few rocks on the ground. Sites are a bit small and have zero privacy. The last issue I had was there was a group of 5-8 and they were obnoxious and loud pretty late into the night and obviously nobody from the resort was around to ask them to be quiet. 5 star - $15 a night to camp is very reasonable especially when there aren't many options in or around Death Valley. There is running water to each site - not sure if it is potable or not - we used it only for cleaning. Has flush toilets and showers which is always a plus. Great stars at night! Each site has a nice heavy duty picnic table and a nice fire ring. They do sell firewood but it's super expensive so bring some if you can! We had a site right next to the single flush toilet - the lady working said we wouldn't hardly smell anything. I'm quite a woodsman so it doesn't bother me too much but you can definitely smell it if you are at a site close by...

Yelp
After having our amazing trip and got back home I was excited to give this place a good review. Then I found out I was over charged $80 for staying two nights and the resort doesn't get back to you or pick up their phones. I booked through hotels.com I was quoted $131.04 for two nights 5-11-22/5-12-22 I ended up paying $211.23. It was weird I got three different billing errors from Panamint that added up to $211.23. Hotels.com is going to investigate this dispute, I'm waiting to hear back.

Yelp
Run! The restaurant was decent for being in the middle of nowhere, but the room that we rented across the road had no electricity which meant no AC, nothing!. The refrigerator was expelling its vital fluids all over the floor creating a small creek. We got maintenance to come and even they indicated that the electricity there was sometimes there and sometimes not. Unless you want to do some hard-core camping in the desert where it reaches temperatures like today of 100°. Escape while you can. We went down the road about an hour and found a nice place and tried to call and cancel our reservations and there's no incoming or outgoing calls.

Yelp
Traveled to Death Valley to look at the stars under a beautiful sky. The Panamint Springs Resort was where we spent the night. The gas prices are high ($6.68 Reg) as you might expect, but it was a very welcome resource. The store is adequately equipped, friendly personnel, and one in particular named Sam, was very friendly and helpful. They have both a Motel with individual cabins that were very comfortable, and a tent and RV campsite across the road from the main business. The view was outstanding, and the people were pleasure to work with. During our time there, the restaurant was not open for breakfast, but opened for dinner. We did not get there in time to eat at the restaurant, but the store staff made a fresh hot pizza at dinner time, and breakfast burritos in the morning. I wholeheartedly recommend the Panamint Springs Resort as THE place to stop in your travels in this area. (The reason for not giving five stars, was that the restaurant was not open during our time there... Otherwise, everything was great!). As you have seen from other reviews, the restaurant food rates pretty high.

Yelp
Stayed in one of their large canvas tents for a couple of nights in November. What a great experience. The campsite sits about 2,000 feet over a valley floor on the western side of Death Valley. There's a gas station (prices were actually quite reasonable). The tent was very clean and had two single cots and one double cot with sheets and pillows. Blankets were in a trunk-style box in the corner. This may be enough in the summer, but for winter, I'd recommend taking your own sleeping bag and a few extra blankets as it does get cold (I'm guessing it was close to 30 degrees at night). The tent keeps the breeze out well (it wasn't particularly windy when we were there). The tents are on flat concrete slabs so the floor is clean. If you really want to "feel at home," if you have a small area rug to put down between the cots it may make you a bit more comfortable. Basically, think of it as if you're tent camping but don't have to take your own tent and cots. There's no phone and the wifi didn't work when we were there. But I looked at this as a feature! We were able to briefly get on a sporadic network driving through Stovepipe Wells on the way into Death Valley and that was enough to send a quick note the next day that we were safe. But in this day and age, it feels good to be officially "unplugged" for a day or two and to enjoy some undivided time with family. There's a gas station with a store that has all the necessities right there, so really there's no need to worry about anything. Just relax and enjoy. There is a restroom building with running water and you don't need to pay extra for showers. I didn't take a shower there because we were there just a short time so can't comment on what they're like. There was running water in the toilets and sinks and they were clean. Big upgrade over most "National Park" bathrooms. There's a small rock firepit next to the tent and a picnic table. You can bring your own folding chairs to sit around the fire. We brought two cords of wood with us and another at the camp store. There are some wooden cabins that look nice but if you want to experience the area, stay in a tent! The neighbors had offroad vehicles but were quiet and respectful of the quiet hours. The camp staff was very friendly and helpful. Keep in mind that everything is a long drive away, but the varied terrain makes the drive go by quickly as it's full of amazing views in every direction. Unless you're hiking or doing something super active, Death Valley can be pretty much seen in a day, and the highlights are usually right next to parking lots. Just get a map and follow it around. Top off with gas, check your tires, and take some food and water before starting the day.

Yelp
Just spent 4 days out in DV and stayed at the cabins at Panamint Springs. Our friends stayed across the street in the tent cabins. The whole place is quirky, and maybe that's why people love it. The PS Resort is no different. It's old but comfortable. The people who work there--especially the owner, Ben--are super nice. We ate breakfast and dinner there every day and enjoyed the daily offerings. A good selection of beers on draft or in bottle/can. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. The location is perfect for seeing a lot of DV sites and I highly recommend it if you're either camping or staying in one of the rooms.

Yelp
We needed to get away and really socially distance ourselves and thought Death Valley would be a great place since it is so vast! Panamint Springs resort was still open for tent camping so off we went! This place is a diamond in the rough because of the people who run the place! Ben and his family were all so nice and friendly. They shared great places to see that weren't on closed trails, they changed our camp site when we asked to be in one a little further away from others and really seemed happy to be there! This is such a stressful time for many and being able to be out in nature was a blessing. The views of the mountains were phenomenal and the air was so clean! Another plus was the camp sites had flush bathrooms and free showers which were all very clean as well! The store had the necessities and cute souvenirs and the pizza and milk shakes looked good but we didn't have any. The restaurant was open for takeout which was great if we hadn't planned on cooking on the fire. Thank you so much to Ben and family! You all are doing such a great job being a little peace in the big storm! We will be back!

Yelp
I read enough reviews to know what I was getting into staying here. Yes, the ancient motel rooms are tiny and sparsely furnished, there's only one outlet for the entire room, the shower was miniature and had seen better days a few decades ago. But we found the place absolutely charming, jokingly calling it "indoor camping." We visited around new year's and never felt too hot or cold in the room, nothing was dirty, and our dog was welcomed. Other people were chill and unpretentious, staff were either polite or explicitly friendly. Proximity to the bar/restaurant was awesome. WiFi was decent at the restaurant and intermittent in our room. The surrounding mountain views are spectacular. It would have improved the experience to have even minor upgrades to the spartan motel room (e.g., there were no surfaces to set anything down in the bathroom or main room except two small folding tables used as nightstands). I hope this place is able to stick around because it's a treasure and I want to return.

Yelp
What you see, is what you get. This is not even a one horse town, but more like a one Burro town. The room was clean and looks just like the pictures. Sparse amenities, no coffee maker, no blow dryer, no TV, but the beds were comfortable and the rate was good. They have a strict no check in before 4 PM policy. The on-site restaurant is pretty good, and the breakfast is hearty. Staff/owners of the restaurant are super friendly and very helpful. Very close to Death Valley. Overall, will stay here again.

Yelp
Very overpriced. One coat hanger is provided and the walls are paper thin. The only thing I can say is that it has indoor pluming and a space heater. The adjacent restaurant is very good.

Yelp
Not sure where to leave this review... We did not stay on property, or at least not overnight... We had a breakdown (flat tire, damaged wheel) in Death Valley National Park (no cell service), and hitched a ride back to the general store at Panamint Springs Resort. We realized there is still no cell service here either, but at least their was WiFi. Long story short, we spent 7 hours waiting for a replacement rental car. The staff was exceptionally friendly and did what they could to help us. They let us use the Sat phone and even agreed to take messages for us if we received calls. It was a hellacious experience, but everyone at the resort was very friendly and helpful. We were thankful for them doing all they could for us. We met the owner, Ben, who chatted with us for a while and helped us pass the time. I don't know if I would want to stay out here. We stayed in Lone Pine, CA. But for a gas and restroom stop, this place is great. The prices are reasonable too. The restaurant is surprisingly good, but that is the subject of a separate review. Thanks so much for helping us in our time of need!

Yelp
If you are disabled then this is not the place for you. Spent over a week trying to get hold of somebody by phone to see if they could accommodate a wheelchair. These people don't answer the phone nor do they reply to voicemail. Upon arrival, I got one of the new rooms on the north side of the road (the entry to which is unlit, unmarked and impossible to discern after dark), up a gravel grade, over two steps to a door that would not fit a wheelchair. The "room" (I've had larger closets and which was $179 per night) wasn't large enough to fit a wheelchair, either. Nor could you use a walker to get around the bed to the bathroom or get to the sink without turning sideways. And the restrooms at the restaurant are up an 8 in step to doors that are not wide enough for a wheelchair. If they had answered the phone, I would have cancelled but was stuck. Wife managed (very painfully) to use a walker to access the room and the bathroom(s). On the upside, the Thanksgiving meal was very good. However, the total lack of communications and disabled access more than offset the quality of the food. Won't be going back anytime soon.

Yelp
Our first night in room 8 was really great. Even though we only needed one of the two beds ( queen + double), it seemed to be recently updated and the bathroom was perfectly clean. After reading some of the poor reviews, we were pleasantly surprised. However, the second night we had to move to room 6 with just a queen bed -- this room was a complete 180 from our first night. The room was much smaller, very outdated, and the bathroom was outrightly disgusting. The photos online show the bathroom with the curtains drawn - and now I know why!!! Take a look at photos. Keep in mind there are no TVs, no reception, limited outlets, and yes, thin walls. If you get room 8, you will have a fabulous time relaxing and enjoying peace and quiet. Avoid room 6 at all costs!

Yelp
$10 for a tent site with a very nice view is very competitive BUT... do not use the showers!! At the check in, they assured us that there was no hidden fees or anything which I understood when I entered the showers. In this period of covid-19, it was unbelievable to see something like this. Bugs, spiders... everywhere (inside the toilet too). It looked more like an insect sanctuary. The $40 large pizza was jaw dropping too. Also, when we left the place early in the morning, the door of the store was left open without anybody in it. The view is great.

Yelp
I spent my one evening in Death Valley National Park at Panamint Springs Resort. I really liked this place it was unique and different than your average hotel/motel. You have the option to get a motel room ($100+ per night), or rent a campsite for your RV, or rent a space and pitch a tent for the night, or what I did is....they had ready made tents with 2 cots inside and $35 for the night (which included sheets and a pillow), I had my own little space for the evening! There's a restaurant for dining, which is where I had dinner. Otherwise there's no place else in the park to go. I forgot the name of the restaurant, but it had a variety of selections at reasonable prices. I got my own cheese pizza with a Coke. It was good. There were a lot of bikers staying at the resort and they were hanging out and having drinks at the restaurant....so once the sun went down, the place was busy. Interesting to note, the bikers all had European accents. There was a convenience store if you need anything and a gas station for fuel. I believe the gas station closed down and stopped pumping gas after sunset. Also, I had no internet connection as you'd expect, but in a beautiful place like Death Valley, it was nice to get away from the real world anyways. I did speak to my neighbors (2 men) who actually pitched tents next to me. They were barbecuing and I spoke with them briefly. My tent was nice and clean along with my sheets and pillows which I got from the convenience store where I checked in. There were 2 cots in my tent...which were like twin size beds. My only problem with either of the cots is they had protruding bar handles...kinda hard to describe...but the problem was when I tried lying on my side...my legs and arms hung over the bars and it was uncomfortable. So I had to try and sleep straight up without stretching on my side. I didn't have a good nights sleep...just a couple of hours. Also, it got very cold in the evening and I was wearing a few layers of clothes under the sheets. There were some open parts to the tent where cold air did come in. There's a community bathroom which reminded me of summer sleep away camp growing up. The water was hot for a shower and there were mirrors and outlets in the bathrooms. Once the sun set, the sky was filled with stars! It was a beautiful night and I truly allowed myself to take a step back, realize where I was and how beautiful the sky and setting was. I felt like I had all the time in the world and I was truly appreciative to be living in the moment. I sat on a rock and gazed at the stars until I decided to head in my tent and get a night's rest. Once the sun rose, I showered up, got myself ready for the day and started back out on my Death Valley adventure. Although I didn't have the best nights sleep, the atmosphere at Panamount Springs Resort was wonderful. The mountains and terrain in the distance were beautiful and colorful. It was a really great setting for a resort. I'd recommend Panamount Springs to anyone!

Yelp
This place is a dump. The rooms are extremely primitive, with old everything, carpet, bathroom, bed. You step out of the room into a dirt road, dust everywhere. The restaurant is mediocre and the prices are horrendous. Especially drinks. I hope you won't stay here, for your own good but, if you do, ask for the price of what you want to order before ordering. There is no cell reception, no landlines, and very poor wifi. If you happen to receive a call over wifi, you'll immediately get admonished by the personnel, in a rude way, that it's not allowed.

Yelp
The milkshakes do in fact bring all the boys to the yard I hight recommend trying the Huckleberry milkshake, it's worth the money.

Yelp
This review is based on the restaurant only. My husband I returned here two years in a row. Following our hike to Darwin Falls, we stopped here for a cold beer and spicy fried green beans with jalapeno ranch dressing. Not only is this restaurant Charming, old, and offering a great variety of beer, but if you sit on the front porch you will have a stunning View of Death Valley desert. Notice the bar when you arrive as it is an amazing piece of wood. We did try the fish and chips and chili fries, which were okay. This is about the experience, the green beans, the view, and the beer.

Yelp
Agree with other reviewers here. View is great. Bathrooms are "please, no". Photos below of bathrooms are accurate as of Feb. 2021. No privacy, not particularly clean. One toilet clogged, the other toilet had no lock on the stall, and no cover on the toilet tank. (And why do they not have low-flow toilets in the desert?) Did not even consider using the shower. $80 for an RV spot with full hookups seems kinda pricey (particularly given the bathroom). People in the general store (where you check in for the camping/RV spots) were helpful.

Yelp
October 2009 - After a tough trek out the South Pass due to mechanical issues, we thought we'd treat ourselves to a night at a hotel - Panamint Springs Resort was the closest, so we headed there for a beer and a meal, and a room. First, we were utterly shocked at the incredible mark-up on beer - I think a bottle of Fat Tire was like $10 - seriously? A six-pack doesn't even cost that at retail! The menu is incredibly meat/packaged foods heavy. I asked if they had some plain pasta or vegetables since I am vegan - and ended up with a salad made from some sort of bagged mixed greens like Earthbound Farms which was swampy and rotten. I got plain (overcooked dry) pasta with a side of (previously frozen) veggies - and was charged somewhere in the neighborhood of $22 - for reals? Even a plate of fresh, housemade pasta with black truffles shaved over it cost me $19 at Oliveto. I could go into the kitchen and make my own pasta in less time than it took them to bring out my meal. Fine - whatever. Food. Beer. Done. Let's get some rest. We head to the room and my friend and I were utterly shocked at the condition of the "last" room that was available. We slept in sleeping bags on top of the dirty looking linens and horribly uncomfortable bed - it had springs sticking up and it wobbled and wavered like we were on an air mattress on a swimming pool. The room itself was shockingly ill maintained and shabby - the indoor/outdoor carpet laid over cement was stained and dirty (I swear there was a sewage drain hole in the middle of the room based on the size of the stain). The paneling was peeling off the walls. The pictures were faded and universally seemed to have cracked glass and frames. I was actually worried about contracting something from the shower - showering outdoors at Saline hot springs was *cleaner* than this place. On top of it all - the plumbing makes so much noise that it was impossible to sleep through the night. Guests in other rooms at the other end had the same experience. There were two cats living on site - one black cat named "Bad Luck" who spent the night with us - a real lover. One of the guys who works there - an owner, I was told - when I said how nice that cat was, made awful rude comments about how he wished that cat would be eaten by a coyote or run over and so on. I was pretty shocked and wished I could bring Bad Luck home with me right then (but lacked space, unfortunately). PSR is a real dump - it should be torn down. Don't waste your money or your time. Sleep in your car or find BLM or national forest land (there's lots of it) to dry camp if you are so tired that you are even considering PSR. Sleeping in your car is better than sleeping there.

Yelp
Stayed here for one night, checked in with a guy that was super helpful. Gave me a lot of information about the area and the road to mammoth for my drive the next day. Tent was better than I expected: clean, kept cold out, and spacious. What really upset me was the short blonde lady who was super rude, curt, and just seemed to hate her job. Had been driving all day and that was the last thing I needed before bed, ugh! Would've been 2-3 stars just because of her but the other two gentlemen made up for her horrible customer service.

Yelp
I've read these reviews and all the bad ones are direct results of people who don't want to actually be in Death Valley. I read the reviews after thinking that I'd want my ashes spread there, if I were such a novice to make people do such a thing. And now, only if to annoy the person that found out that they were staying next to a dead guy in Death Valley. Panamint Springs should make people fill out an application, get a visa like a foreign country and have a series of interviews just to look at the place. stanhope

Yelp
This motel is awful and creepy. No phone service, no internet service, no TV, no coffee, the only food is a bar full of locals (no masks), there are no outdoor lights. If you want a scary experience, this is it.

Yelp
I love staying here it is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of stovepipe wells or furnace creek. The views from the resort are just amazing. I loved seeing the mountains each time I woke up here. Don't expect the WiFi to be consistent but isn't it the point of going to Death Valley to disconnect? The restaurant is conveniently located on site and I enjoyed every meal there. The staff is really friendly. Plus they have an excellent selection of beers. All the above keep me coming back.

Yelp
HELL ON EARTH! Worst hotel experience of my life. For the rest of our trip to DVNP we stayed at Stovepipe Wells and had an amazing experience. Stovepipe Wells consists of nice people, good food, wifi, TV, fridges, and a much cleaner nicer room. It may cost 50% more per night, but it is absolutely worth every dollar. On a two week road trip in California, my friend and I stopped in Panamint Springs Resort. We had made a reservation for two nights using Expedia. Death Valley was the highlight of the trip and we were very excited to be there. We are by no means picky travelers and had didn't have very high expectations. We went into the trip understanding that a hotel in Death Valley probably won't have the same amenities as a hotel in Sacremento. It simply isn't feasible to operate a hotel at the same standard. We knew that cell service was going to be almost non existent, so finding a place with wifi was important. After a 4.5 hour drive, we finally arrived. We were hungry and in need of food, shower, and an adult beverage. The check-in is at the gas station so we decided to fill up on diesel. We had a feeling that Diesel was going to be hard to come by in the coming days. The diesel was a staggering $5.40, but we didn't think much of it. Our room consisted of two old beds, 1 bedside table, and a carpeted bathroom. There was no TV, no wall art, and not enough outlets to charge our electronic devices. We kept telling ourselves that this is probably what all the hotels must be like and tried to take it with a grain of salt. Since there was no point in hanging out in our barren room, we decided to get some dinner at the restaurant on the property. It looks to be a full bar and restaurant at first glance, but you quickly realize that it is so far from normal. I tried order vodka soda, but was told they only have wine and beer. The waitress/bartender pointed us to fridge in the corner of the room and told us to grab what we wanted and she would add it to our bill. There were no prices listed for the beer, but we assumed they would all be around $4-$8. It wasn't until my friend had finished his beer that the woman told us it was $22 for the bottle. As far as food goes, it was terrible and are only options were pizza or a burger. While waiting for our food I tried connecting to the wifi so I could contact my wife and kids. At the very least I wanted to let them know that they wouldn't be hearing from me for a few days because of lack of cell service. For 15 minutes I tried to get a text or email out with no success. I decided to try using wifi calling to see if it would work any better. After a few minutes of trying, I hear the phone ring and my wife answer. The waitress/bartender immediately came over and told me to get off the phone and that wifi calling isn't allowed. She told me there is a phone that I can use, but it cost something like $7 per minute. She told me my other option was to drive 20 miles back to where we came from and that sometimes there is cell service there. This is the point I started to get really irritated. My friend and I decided that there was no way we could do two nights at this hell on earth. We went back to the check-in/gas station and to cancel our 2nd night because Expedia said there was a 24/hr cancellation policy. The two guys at the counter may of had half a brain between them both. They told me that there is actually a 48/hr cancelation policy and that there was another e-mail sent that states there policies. I went through both my inbox and my expedia account and read them everything that I was sent. Nowhere did it mention 48 hours or even 24 hours for that matter. There attitude towards me was unbearable and they had me shaking with anger. They gave me an email for there manager and told me they couldn't do anything. As we headed back to our room, we decided that no matter what we wont stay at the hotel a 2nd night. I emailed the manager and explained the situation. I should mention here that I am a diabetic and need to keep my extra insulin in a temperature controlled environment, usually a fride. Being that there was no fridge, I went to get a bucket of ice. I put my insulin case on ice and we went to bed. When we woke up in the morning, the ice bucket had leaked and the carpet was soaked with water. Another disappointment, this place is full of them. We eagerly left at the crack of dawn and never wanted to look back. The entire place has a very bizarre feeling about it and it felt like an episode of Twilight Zone. When I finally heard back from the manager, Leigh, he told me he wouldn't issue a refund for a 2nd night and that he was upset because the carpet was wet. If there was a descent ice bucket or a fridge, the carpet would of been fine. It was either going to be us or somebody else that dealt with the ice bucket and it is not practical to blame the customer for the establishments leaky ice bucket. I hope Leigh reads this.

Yelp
We stopped in Panament springs to check out the camping and have a bit of lunch. We were not disappointed! Yes this in Death Valley north west entrance. They have full hook ups, or dry camping, fire rings, cabins, tents. The restaurant is doing the covid19 thing. Bless their hearts they make it through this mess. Our burger was delicious the service was wonderful. Our host has a vast knowledge of Death Valley and the surrounding areas. Definitely we're going back.

Yelp
Panamint Springs Resort is a rustic little stop on your way through Death Valley. It has a small sized motel with adequate accommodations. A restaurant , with bar. A campground , with tent spaces and tent cabins. There are both full hookup , and regular sites. There is also a gas station. The main building that you see is their restaurant. It has indoor seating , but the main draw for me is their porch - some of the best views all year round while sipping my beer . They menu has changed a bit over the years but you can expect great food. We've never stayed in any of the motel rooms , because we have an RV . However they seem pretty well booked in the cooler times of the year . We've stayed at the campground numerous times. It has always been clean and well kept. The fire rings have always been in good shape. The shower house was in a well kept condition too. The staff have always been helpful and courteous. Servers at the restaurant always make out experience great . So all in all its a 5 star experience . Not based on any single element but as an overall experience. The accommodations aren't suited to snobby city folk , but rather the seasoned traveler or desert explorer. If your in the high expectations category keep driving to Furnace Creek they have plenty of city influenced high grade bling to sparkle your eyes. But if your looking for a cool , unencumbered normal folk spot this is your place.

Yelp
I stayed at Panamint Springs Resort while staying in Death Valley last week and had an enjoyable experience. I rented out the 5 person cabin and was pleased. "Resort" is a little elevated a word for Panamint Springs Hotel, but the facilities were less expensive that the other hotels in Death Valley. It was perfectly adequate for our needs and I'll definitely stay there the next time I visit Death Valley. Important Notes: 1) There is no cell reception and are no landlines within 10 miles. 2) You are a minimum of 45 min from the main tourist areas in Death Valley 3) The Sand Dunes are further away than they look. 4) Make sure that your vehicle has good breaks before driving into Death Valley

Yelp
I am writing this on the porch of the restaurant on a beautiful evening in July on a day when it was supposedly 101 degrees, but a wonderful breeze made it pleasant. I had a large dinner-salad which I was delighted they put together for me in 5 minutes, because I was starving after a hike to Darwin Falls. Watching the sunset from this porch is one of my favorite things to do. I am a tent camper, paying only $10.00 per night, but I received the greatest friendliness, service and was granted internet privileges with my $10.00 campground fee. Naturally this time of year, the campground is uncrowded, and my spot had a tree for shade. The campground has showers, and was immaculate and quiet. One of the treats for me of being here, is that the visitors are so interesting to meet. As an occasional motorcyclist, I enjoyed talking with a rider who had one week more to go on a 6,000 mile touring ride. My nearest neighbors in the tent campground are a young couple from the U.K.There are many internationals, predominantly German and French, it seems, and I never fail to talk with interesting people. On the way here, at the Darwin Post Office, I spoke with a young Russian couple interested in ghost towns. I am always concerned driving on the way to get here that a thing this good will have changed, but the staff always keep up the good work.

Yelp
After several weeks quarantined at home with COLD, RAIN, & SNOW, I needed to get away to some place warm and dry so I headed to Death Valley to do "Social Distancing" my way. Over 5,000 sq. miles to choose from (probably under 100 people in the valley). Well I ended up at Panamint Springs Resort. Although rustic, I can not say enough good things about it. From the family that owns and run it, to the guests that were camping and staying there, I felt relaxed and at home (1 day turned into 3 and I booked another stay for next week). A HUGE thanks to Aaron (who even fixed my flat tire) and brother & sister Ben & Victoria and sister in- law Alexis and their Mom and Dad. They made me feel like family. They had a wealth of info on the area & told me things to do. Panamint Springs is not for everyone, but if you are looking for some place special, this place is rich in good old friendly hospitality.

Yelp
First off, this is not really a "resort", so level-set your expectations. This is however a nice place to stay or camp literally in the middle of nowhere. The rooms are small but clean, and the bathrooms could use some TLC, but that said, its the BEST place for 50 miles any any direction. Some friends traveling with us stayed in one of the pre-placed large tents in the camping area and were happy with it. The General Store is well stocked and the staff is friendly and Noah keeps the restaurant running well.. Gas is $1 more per gallon than anywhere else - not too bad considering it's in the middle of Death Valley. Yes, we would stay there again.

Yelp
Lodging is very spare. Very hard to walk in the room. It's NYC in the desert with its tight, cramped quarters. You squeezed by the bed, squeezed into the bathroom, squeezed in to get access to the tiny sink. Do like that you can sit on your patio and look at the stars with minimal light pollution. The restaurant serves decent food, but the gratuity they added is more than what the receipt says on the bottom. The burgers are the best. They kept bringing out fish and chips even though DH ordered trout, and it really sucks to be there first, order first and eat last. The receipt bottom calculates what 15, 18 and 20% is, and 15% was automatically added and that amount was greater than the figures listed on the bottom of the receipt so be careful -- you are tipping more than what is reported -- and adjust accordingly. Staying in a room comes with free buffet breakfast for two. At breakfast we found hard boiled eggs, cereal, waffle maker, coffee, water, oranges and apples. Our room had A/C which you had to stand on the bed to reach but others in our party reported they had no A/C. Wifi is offered but it didn't work, so it's best to enjoy the stars and pick out the Big Dipper, Orion.

Yelp
Had the pleasure of going to Panamint Springs over this past Presidents Day weekend and I am so glad we did. Great campground, motel, cabins, tent cabins and RV spaces. Store and restaurant across the street. Good food and beer although just starting to reopen everything. Very nice and knowledgeable staff. Great stop for riders. Don't listen to the reviews complaining about the price of gas or the showers. This is a campground so you get campground type showers. The gas is cheaper than the nearby busy spot towards the Nevada side. Be realistic with your expectations. This is a great little hidden oasis to take the family. Higher elevation which equates to lower temps. There's nearby hikes including a great easy one to Darwin falls and Star Wars canyon. Do yourself a favor and stop by. Esteban in the store and Aaron the owner working the restaurant and bar are excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. Although the motel is still closed, if you call ahead they will do their best to accommodate. If you want expensive and pretentious, stay in Vegas. Otherwise come here! Spent 4 days in a tent cabin. Price was right and the weekend was perfect.

Yelp
Arrived a bit early and was met by Deidre, who checked me in and gave me a fantastic description of the area. Reed and Medic came up and escorted me to my cabin. 5 minutes in and I know I'm coming back. Amazing views, the staff was phenomenal, and everything was organized and on point. I'd recommend this place to anyone. Amazing time, and thanks for having us. One of a kind place, but the staff really pushed it over the top. 5 stars all day long.

Yelp
The resort is not a resort, or a hotel, or even a motel, it is a cabin.. as in nothing is clean but the sheets, there is no wi-fi (the service they offer is not designed for multiple users and you will not be able to use it), there are bugs everywhere EVERYWHERE, the walls are dirty, the doors intended for interior use are worn and rotted so that you can see under them, and the dirt and dust in the carpet overtakes the depth of the carpet. There are strange holes on the walls. It is all dirty and in very ill repair.. fine for a cabin, unacceptable for a hotel or "resort". The problem this creates is with expectations... if you are thinking you'd like to camp but not drag a tent with you it's lovely. If you think it's going to be a delightful desert resort with frosty air conditioning and charming decor, you will hate it. We booked two nights and only stayed one.. we stayed the one night entirely because the sheets were pristine and sparkling white. The adjoining restaurant, despite the fly filled stinking outdoor restrooms and disgusting menu's, was good. Great food, great service, refreshing bar service. I would return to rv camp in their campground tho, the views are lovely and it seems well maintained.

Yelp
Been out in this neck of the woods twice in the month of March, 2019. The first time, I rolled past but did not stop. However, I did take note of the restaurant and camp area. The second time through, I stopped...twice. The purpose for driving through Death Valley and over the Panamint Range was to watch jets. The trip out from Vegas is not bad, but it still takes a couple of hours. During my first pass through on the second journey, I stopped in for a beer, get my bearing and come up with a plan for the day. The restaurant has some microbrews on tap. If that does not tickle your fancy...take a look in the coolers. On my second pass through, after spending all day on the side of cliff or up on Father Crowley Vista Point, I stopped in for some nourishment before making the trek back. I ordered up a patty melt and some onion rings. Everything was tasty. Price wise everything including the beer was affordable. By that I mean, you don't feel like your being exploited for being out miles away from traditional civilization. The service on both occasions the those working here were on point and friendly. The wi-fi was bonus because there is no Sprint cell phone service in the valley. Restrooms are located on the west side of the building. I look forward to returning again before this part of the desert returns back to it's hellish temperatures.
