Google

Google
Came in bc I was in the area on a job and normally get chipotle closer to home. Got a burrito and my boss got two tacos. The taste of the food was a lot better in my opinion than the chipotle I frequent. Servings are a bit smaller than chipotle, but at least there’s not cartilage in their chicken like I often get with chipotle. Prices are reasonable. Wish I had Pancheros closer to home! Owner (I believe) was there cleaning keeping the place nice

Google
Way better burritos than Qdoba or chipotle. The fresh tortillas honestly do make a big difference. I had a simple burrito. Chicken, rice/beans , salsa , queso cheese and sour cream. The chicken was fresh off the grill and the rice was cooked nicely. A lot of times with burrito bars like this the rice is underdone but not here. Nothing fancy just a solid burrito. The atmosphere could use a little sprucing up but my lady taking my order was very kind and made my burrito very fast. They mixed my ingredients before wrapping up my burrito, something I haven't seen done at similar restaurants. I can see why some people might not like that but personally I enjoyed it because I got a good bite every time.

The food was actually not too bad, but the service? The service was atrocious. No other customers. The two employees behind the counter barely spoke. No topping options. No sides offered. Nothing.

Google
Ordered a bowl for take out to try this place for the first time. I paid extra for extra protein and guac but realized once I was home that I got neither. The bowl was mostly rice. The bowls at Chipotle are about 30% larger and you get more of everything so I’ll be sticking with them.

We decided to stop by today after picking up kids laptops from the middle school and placed our order at about 1:50pm online so we could pick it up on our way home with an estimated time to assemble - 15 minutes. There was 1 person in line when I arrived and two employees working. When it was my turn, I gave them my name and the person had to sort through a stack of orders to find mine. The gentleman working stopped helping to answer his cell phone and walked to the back. All the food in bins seemed to be swimming in liquid which leads to soggy burritos. The tortillas were undercooked and gummy which was a shame since the idea of fresh tortillas is delicious. I ordered tacos for myself and they were a mess. Including a picture of what I got. This was a disappointing chain experience that focuses on all the wrong things. I don't mind waiting for good food. This was not worth it.

Google
I just left the line of this place after waiting 25 minutes to have them make meals for 4 people in front of us. They were making food SO slowly, and were taking online orders before in person customers. The final straw was them making online order 8 burritos in front of us over the course of 10 minutes, and us realizing the tortillas they were warming up were not for us. HIRE MORE WORKERS, PAY THEM MORE, TRAIN THEM BETTER. Ridiculous.

Yelp
Pancheros was my go-to late night meal when I was in college. We don't have any locations in the Grand Rapids area, so I decided to stop in here on my drive back from the East side of the state recently. I got my old regular order - a carnitas burrito bowl, and added a side of chips and queso. The employees were kind and polite and my bowl was really tasty. They're known for mixing up the burrito fillings so everything is incorporated, which I love. They don't do that for the burrito bowls, which is okay by me. Everything seemed fresh and the queso was piping hot. It kind of tasted like the dip you make with Velveeta and Rotel, with a similar sticky texture. The chips were crispy and quite salty. The burrito bowl was a generous portion with a good amount of meat and other toppings. I personally would rate Pancheros as better than Qdoba but just under Chipotle. I did notice that many of the booths were really messy and needed to be wiped down. It didn't quite hit the spot like it used to in my youth, but it was a decent meal.

Yelp
Dirty isn't even the right word. Floor was liter along with the counters, finger print doors and glass, and that sludgy feel. The restaurant was like a playground with teenagers at a noise level of 20 echoing and making it nearly impossible to hear or place my order. This should have been addressed but they were clearly friends of one of the boys working behind the counter. He spent more time shouting and laughing with them then focusing on me and making my bowl. All the food was far from fresh and the remaining small amount t at the bottom of empty containers. Very "soggy" veggies and extremely dried out zero flavor chicken and steak. I can't believe I was so excited to find a Pancheros (100 miles from home) as the one in my home town closed about about 6 years ago. We were regulars and always blow away by the food and service. I will say the other male worker who came over to finish making my second order (first guy forgot to make my burrito because he was giggle with his loud annoying friends) was very kind and even grabbed my bowl to add all the missing items I wasn't offered . His words, "sorry, he's not paying attention to what he's doing"..... clearly!!!!!

Yelp
Good food. Love their burritos and bowls. A very clean place and staff is alright too.

Yelp
People really eat here more than once? How is this place still in business? The people working were very nice. But....The cheese sauce was actually mixed with that fake cheese that gets hard really fast is it Velveeta or something else I can't remember what it is. The guacamole was worse than a regular bad white persons, the tortillas that they said were homemade and I was excited were not, they were just pressed and hard to go down my throat they were so gummy. There was hardly anything in my burrito or in my friends bowl, way less than half of what chipotle has. The meat was I don't know what it was. But it had no flavor . The only way I could even eat it was to put some of their salsa that is not readily available, But I'm sure that was bought at Kroger's or something, And only if you ask for it in your burrito. The other sauce they had available were three almost empty store-bought probably bottles of green and red sauce of some sort. The only thing good was the bottle of coke and actually that even was a little flat

Yelp
When I went they where not good,. What I mean is they where running all over the place and going and when I ask to double stuff it was not a double it was with little spoons. It was a rip off. I'm not coming back.

Yelp
I always knew Pancheros had problems with health safety - after all, for years they just have had this small sneeze guard and allow customers to reach over and practically stick their fingers in the ingredients they want (why is this a thing anyways?). But I find it disappointing that in the age of COVID, Pancheros has gone the extra mile to refuse to abide by CDC/MDHHS guidance regarding COVID safety. I'm all for freedom as I'm sure we all are, but the experts have been pretty clear on what keeps us safe. It's really unfortunate when businesses violate the guidance. But Pancheros apparently feels they know virology better than the federal government. The rules are clear, the science is clear, the experts are clear - Pancheros thinks they know better though.

Yelp
I don't know if it's just me or I happen to keep catching this restaurant on a bad day but it seems to me like this is the only Mexican restaurant that does not have Mexican food every single time I come to this restaurant they are OUT of some type of food. No chicken. No Steak. No cheese. No love. All Mexican hope is lost with this place.

Kendra M.

Yelp
Stopped in there on an MSU game day 9/9 and despite the fact that there were only two employees working service was great and the employees were happy. The food was excellent. This was our first visit and we will be back!

Yelp
I've never been to Pancheros before so I won't even pretend to compare this to another location. However I will compare it to the likes of Qdoba or Chipotle. Qdoba hands down has better queso. That's pretty much the reason you go there. But the burritos here are better than both chipotle and Qdoba. They mix everything together which is refreshing. So instead of the rice only being in one part of the burrito it's mixed together with everything else. Making a much better taste experience. Another plus for pancheros is the burrito they made wasn't oversized or wide. It was the perfect shape for eating and it didn't break apart from having too much in it. I felt satisfied after eating it so they certainly gave me enough in the burrito. It was just overall a better built burrito. Guess that's why their slogan is "burritos built better".

Yelp
The food is always fine but I don't know if I've ever been anywhere as dirty. From the floor to the bathroom it was filthy and disgusting. Three employees and we were the customers. It would have been quite easy to do even some basic cleaning or pick up.

Amy M.

Yelp
Really like their food a lot but it is always really filthy looking behind that counter where they prepare the food. A mess! Even when slow. It doesn't take much to clean up. Also the lettuce and veggies look wilted and pale. Get some romaine and some crisp veggies. Also I know you can get salsa in your burrito, however I like to put it in myself as I eat so I asked for it in a small cup on the side instead of them putting it on. They argued with me that it would cost me extra. I wasn't asking for a side. Just the amount they would put on. I won that battle only to get home and realize they charged me twice for the burrito. I went back in the next day with receipt and showed them and I got a refund. Very nice crew that time. Place looked spotless. I truly think it depends on the crew. I'll still get their food. They seem to do better with mobile orders.

Very delicious. Probs would eat again. Idk my brother is the one that likes it a lot. So I mean YOLO. Also it deserves 5 stars cuz like yummy. Also I like goldfish. They r good.Thats a recommendation. Hope u eat then.

Yelp
The Pancheros near my home closed so i look forward to getting their food when i visit to my home state. I'd never stopped at this location (Okemos) and thought I'd get my food early in the day in made the drive from one side of the state to the other. When i walked in, i decided to use the restroom first. IT WAS GROSS! Towels everywhere. Soap caked on the walls. And the toilet looked like the one in my teenage boys room after 2 weeks of no cleaning! And i was in the ladies room! I walked out to order and noticed the fajita veggies were barely grilled-heated with no char or wilt. Then i noticed the scoop for the pico laying in the pico with another spoon! I WALKED OUT!

Yelp
Food was good, enjoyed the tofu as a protein option. Small portions and not as many add in options like other Tex-mex, create your own places. Prices were ok but charged for anything extra that some places just give you. Everything is added with a measure scoop (1 scoop) per section as you go down the line. Order equaled $14 (Burrito Bowl, extra tofu and chips w/ queso) Would not go out of my way to come again.

Jonathan C.

Yelp
Portion size is so small, your better off going anywhere else. Asked for double steak and the guy may have put three more little bites off steak on it. $13 dollars for a burrito that is $8 at qdoba or chipotle. Do not go here unless you like being overcharged for small portions.

Yelp
Thank you so much Emily for helping me out today! I order my food online so I could pick it up on my lunch break and I accidentally sent it to the wrong Pancheros restaurant! Emily was very quick and on top of it, she made my order right away and was very nice about everything!!

Yelp
Fast-food mexican without all the fast-food negatives? I love it! Seriously, usually when you go for fast-food mexican, it's a scary proposition. This, however, is pretty good. It's still quick, but the tortillas are fresh vs outta the bag, and the steak actually tasted like... gasp! steak! Quick... tasty... not too pricey. Definitely going back more often.

Yelp
We went to Panchero's on a Tuesday night, so it wasn't busy. We walked in, ordered our food, and they went right to work. The service was good, and they made everything quickly, and well. I got two tacos with cheese and mild ancho salsa. They were good, but not great. The price is what will bring this place "down" in my opinion. The atmosphere is alright. It's more of a social interaction kind of place, as there's only one TV in the entire place. I'd come back here again, but maybe with a gift card of some sorts. Everything is made fresh, and right in front of you. If you like quality Mexican food, you'll enjoy this place.

Rob W.

Yelp
Pancheros burritos are my favorite but the customer service up in here sucks. They slow, so slow my coupons expire before I can pay and they wont honor them after they expire.
google avatar

Chris E.

Yelp
I really like the food at Panchero's a lot. The portions/prices on most items however, not so much. The burrito is well worth the money - hands down. Just don't do the quesadilla and reallllly don't do the taco's. With the taco's, you get two little things about half the size of a taco bell taco for about $6. The atmosphere is very noisy if it's busy, too.

Sophia L.

Yelp
Great burrito/taco place similar to Chipotle or Qdoba. At the front of the line pick pick what you want, taco, quesadilla, burrito, etc, and then as it moves down the line you let them know what you want on it. All tortillas are fresh pressed and grilled on the spot which is a nice touch. It's not fancy, but it's fast, delicious and filling.
google avatar

Chris G.

Yelp
I don't typically review chains. It's kinda beside the point since everyone knows what to expect, that's why it's franchised out! In this case, I think Panchero's warranted the effort. I've been to several of these locations now and they're consistently tasty. The fresh pressed tortillas are a nice touch in a "faster" food environment and they mix the ingredients before rolling the burrito to preserve flavor consistence... something they don't do at other chain burrito places. I've had the chicken, pork and beef options and have to say they're all wonderful. For those whose taste buds require a spicier ensemble they have fresh diced jalapenos available in addition to their "hot" salsa and their house brand hot sauces are both flavorful and lightly spicy. It would be nice to see Habeneros as a menu option in addition to the jalapenos, but a boy can only dream.

Jenny M.

Yelp
I love this place! The food is great and their tortillas are the best in town. The green salsa is the best too! The Okemos location has a great staff who are always friendly and helpful. I will always go back!

Ashley C.

Yelp
Stopped here to try a new restaurant with the family. Was extremely happy with the service that Nicole provided. She was very patient considering it was our first experience, explained all the options and had great customer service. Will definitely be returning.
google avatar

Ryan M.

Yelp
Asked for veggies instead of rice and beans and was told it was $1 extra, OK fine. What I got was a very small spoon full of overcooked veggies. When I asked if they could put more on there, they said another $1. That's when I walked out. Food did not look fresh and their pricing is a scam if your into healthy options like veggies instead of rice and beans.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I go to Pancheros every Sunday in lansing and always love it. We decided to try this location for the first time, since it happens to be closer, and we will not be going back. Poor service and poor food. The food looked and tasted like it had been sitting out. The girls working behind the counter were slow and rude.

Jim G.

Yelp
Ok, this is my nephews favorite eatery, so I'll be as kind as possible. First off the service was slow. I ordered half steak, half chicken burrito with rice, pintos, quest and mild salsa. Both meats were dry and tough as shoe leather which is ok, cause they only gave me 2 tablespoons is each, with a cup of rice and a tablespoon or two of beans. The tortilla was almost uncooked. The whole globby mess was tasteless.

Ellie B.

Yelp
I love how they mix the ingredients in your burrito together, unlike other places. The staff was very friendly and service was fast. Delicious chicken burrito.
google avatar

Cali C.

Yelp
Love this food and love this location! Workers are so friendly, and memorize the regulars ;) but really this place is amazing hands down.

Aaron S.

Yelp
They really improved since a couple years back - tortilla press is awesome, very fresh ingredients... nice twist on the cafeteria-mexicana niche.

Justin B.

Yelp
Would be 5 stars but they do not give you enough rice and if you ask for even the smallest amount more, they will charge you. Other than that, great food and great service. Under $7 for Burrito bowl and it's pretty filling.

Lilyan T.

Yelp
This Pancheros is right by my apartment so I go here often. Every time, I'm disappointed. The food itself is alright. I am a vegetarian and the tiny little piddle scoop of veggies I get is laughable. Aside from that, there is ALWAYS one worker that is extremely slow, handling a line of four people. There are always workers in the back goofing off. If you want to get in and out quick, avoid this place!
