Really good food and service, super clean place...

I did not care for my food at all. Starting with the nachos chips and the hot and mild sauce that was served. Sauce was the worst I've ever had. Strange metallic taste that I was not familiar with. My entrée was beef and cheese enchiladas. Again, it was strange underlying flavors that were unfamiliar and not very good. Should have gone downtown for the real deal. That's what I get for experimenting.

This is definitely one of my favorite places to get carry out from. I’ve had it so many times I cannot count. My favorite things are their pork Mexican sandwich, burrito dinner, and their flaming cheese!!! And top it all off with a 8 ounce mild salsa, cannot go wrong! This place offers ample seating, but the parking lot is a bit small.

I’ve been going here since I was a kid and really enjoy the place. Just hard to give the place the best rating when a lot of times the service is kind of slow and I’ve heard some not to great things about how the owner can be at times. The food is pretty good though and they serve alcoholic beverages unlike a few of the restaurants in the area.

This is going to be a long read. I will start off by saying my boyfriend and I have been coming here for 12 years and this WAS our favorite spot. The food used to always be amazing and the service was great. I've started to notice the food being slightly off a couple years ago, one being my food tasted like cleaner. It was only once in a while that it wasn't the amazing food we were used to. Now, this year, the last several times the food was inedible. From the beans being scorched, the rice unseasoned and the meat tasting like something(not food) just something weird. Today was the last straw. I order enchilada dinner with ground beef and onion. My boyfriend orders the burrito dinner with beef and cheese. The cheese on my enchiladas was past it's date. It was expired. Since I'm not one that likes to send my food back because I feel bad and I dont trust the next dish to come out with a side of spit. When I tell you that cheese tasted like 2 day old milk left in a sippy cup. It was foul. Unfortunately, with the prices jumping 12 dollars on our bill and every single time something being nasty. We will not be spending our money at Panchos anymore. Not even the one in wyandotte. Im sorry, Panchos. But, whatever yall got going on within the last 3 years ain't it. Do better.

Not only we were rushed, we were ignored every time we had a question about a drink. If you don’t want to serve people with a smile then you shouldn’t be serving. Never going back!

First time visit. They weren't that busy and we got seated immediately. Food wasn't bad but my husband and I have had better. I can't recall the name, but we ordered a cheese appetizer that had chorizo, onions and peppers. A little soupy. The sauce appeared broken, like all the ingredients wouldn't come together with the cheese. A lot of our tortilla chips were too brown just shy of being burnt. I don't personally like pureed salsa. It didn't have much going for it. The spicy salsa was better, but a few bits of onion would go a long way. My husband had the Mexican pizza. He said it didn't have much flavor and it also was drowning in not so flavorful sauce. I had the combo plate which included a beef taco, tostada, enchilada and burrito. I liked the taco and tostada. Nothing special about the other two items which I took home. The waitress was nice and attentive. My only issue with service was a flighty woman who came aggressively to our table and was practically forcing us to box up our food and leave. There was another table with a couple who had been there longer than us and had actually finished eating, but she didn't approach them. I don't like being rushed and having someone clear dishes around me when I'm clearly not done with my food. There were plenty of open tables and booths, so it's not like we were keeping anyone from being seated. That being said, I took my time eating my food and packed up when I was good and ready; no time sooner.

Google
I’ve been eating here since they first opened and that was many moons ago, no matter where I’m at, whenever I’m in Michigan again I always eat here great food great service always fresh and friendly! I have had tons of authentic foods, but I’ll always eat here for seriously great Mexican meal! In fact I’m eating my dinner today from their menu! Ordering now over the phone super family pack with two sides of sour cream, and a 25 minute wait you can’t beat it! All this for $30.95 Your saving quite a bit and it’s totally delicious

Yelp
I come here 2-5 times a month while on my work lunch break There are 3 items that I love about this place: 1. Our server is always very friendly, welcoming, and attentive to our presence. 2. The food is very affordable. There is a very nice basic lunch menu with portions that are probably more larger than I should be eating. Two people can easily eat lunch for under $15 (including a good tip). 3. The food comes out very fast. Perfect to get out of the office for a quick lunch. I wish I could take advantage of the bar, but such is life of a working person.

Yelp
Great Food. Chunky Beef is A+. Botanas are amazing. Never had a bad dish. The daytime waitress is the absolute best.

Judy M.

Yelp
The chips were not tasty, and that's always a bad sign. I ordered shrimp fajitas with corn tortillas. It was not busy. The food wasn't very warm, some of the shrimp were over cooked so as to be inedible, the corn tortillas were barely warm, the rice was tasteless. I bummed a flour tortilla off my husband, and part of it was crackly hard, which means it was either stale or it had been reheated too often. Not a good experience.

Yelp
It's always a pleasure to return to this neighborhood staple for a satisfying meal. This time, my kid asked for tacos, and to his surprise, he loved every bite. We topped it off with a delicious dessert - the chimichanga ice cream. I highly recommend the ponchos plate, it's my personal favorite. I usually start with the red, cheesy dip, but without the chorizo. It's just so good! The restaurant is family-owned and maintained, and we couldn't ask for more. Thank you for serving the community.

Yelp
Note from 2 years ago Yelp deleted hundreds of my reviews. Very good Tex Mex style foods been plating up for 27 years now in Lincoln Park. A full bar with American and Mexican Beer's along with Margarita n more. Super service by Esmarelda damn this Gringo just can't spell them Mexican names. Had Queso Flamedio a favorite of outs spot on delicious. A Mexican Sandwich which be layer's of Tortilla, Rice, Beans and Chunky Beef smothered in Cheese outstanding. A lunch size mini Botana filled our bellies. Going back for Taco Tuesday on a buck each. Really nice decorative interesting interior. Find them on Facebook, Yelp and Google #panchosmexicanrestaurant #downriverfiendseat

Yelp
I walked in to order my food at 9:45. The person in the front says they are not taking anymore orders and they are done for the night. Very rude. I will never patronize this establishment again.

Yelp
Raw food I have been going there for 10 years. Today I order carryout get home and this is what I almost bit into. I called spoke with someone who stated they would give me my money back and a free dinner for the inconvenience. So my husband went to pick it up and nope she only gave a baby Mexican sandwich back. I call back to speak with the manager she was stand offish like it was my fault, you gave me a raw dinner! I'm not the one to make a big deal but raw and have an attitude is a no no! Thank God when you know the right people to contact to investigate this place maybe they just don't care anymore about serving good cooked food with a smile.

Yelp
Small little place but the best mexican ive had. The waitress was awesome. If your in the area you should def check it out. If you leave hungry something is wrong.

Yelp
I posted pictures of an up to date menu. I grew up right down the street from Pancho's and have always love their food. I don't know a single person who has ever complained about this place. All of my friends and family go here as well. All the employees are super pleasant & polite. Food is great and affordable as well!

Yelp
Today, I took my family & friends (15) today to have a birthday dinner for my brother. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding!!! Thanks!!

Yelp
Very basic AMERICANIZED "Mexican" restaurant. Everything has tons of cheese or toppings and is greasy/buttery. The guacamole was pretty gross and had too much salt (I don't add salt when I make guac nor do I like it that way) and it was super blended with no chunks and a little discolored (brown). The chips and salsa you get to start with were not good. Chips were stale and the salsa tastes like tomato paste.. My quesadilla was dripping in grease/butter and so was everyone else's food. The rice and beans were bland while the rice was cold. The decor in here needs a lot of help. Everything is SOO busy looking. Our waitress was very nice and took great care of us! She kept our glasses full & got all of the orders right even with our accommodations. A++ on the service! But unfortunately the food makes Pancho's fall to two stars.

Yelp
This is the worst "SO CALLED" Mexican Restaurant I've ever experienced. I've been eating at authentic Mexican restaurants for over 40 years through out Detroit's Mexican Town & Chicago's Little Village and this is by far the bottom of the barrel. The food at Pancho's is more like high school cafeteria food. The atmosphere and aura of the restaurant is not friendly. They have signs posted all over the place about what they don't want you or your kids to do. They served us black avocados with our meal and when we bought it to their attention, the waitress developed a nasty attitude and told use that they didn't have any fresh avocados.... LMFAO! Why serve customers spoiled food????? This is the first time that I've ever requested a refund at a restaurant.

Yelp
The fried tacos were Amazing! The building isn't much to look at but it was clean. The service was great, our waitress was very friendly and serviceable. I ordered flautas and discovered that I didn't like them (not their fault) and the waitress gladly replaced my order with no problem. I will definitely visit there again.

Yelp
I have been getting take-out from this place since I was a young tot, but I'd never eaten inside. Yesterday I did, so I thought I'd write about it. Their menu is extensive. I'm a really boring Mexican-eater, as I don't like beans, rice or anything that is good for me. I stick to tacos, and theirs were great. But there was a ton of other choices for people who like variety. I ordered three tacos on flour tortillas; one chicken w/cheese, one beef w/cheese and one steak w/cheese. All three came out hot and delicious and I quickly enjoyed the chicken and beef varieties. By the time I came to the steak, I was full, but I took a bite anyway. The chicken tasted really good although I admit I thought it was the steak when I ate it. The beef was awesome, perfectly seasoned. The steak, what I ate of it anyway, was really salty. I'm not a salty person, so I wouldn't have finished this taco anyway. The food was good but the service was perfect. Our waitress kept me and Jacob up on our refills, answered our questions and was overall really friendly. I'd go back just for her again! I'd try it out. It's cheap, good, filling food.

Yelp
Called at 9:30 and she tells me that they're not taking anymore orders. Ok, but you're open until 10 so orders should be taken until 10. Bad service!

Yelp
Seated promptly with chips & salsa. Ordered my lunch & within 10 minutes I had my order. Food was great, server was pleasant & thorough and the place was clean.

Yelp
Our server Maria was very nice always wore a smile when walking to the tables. The owner smh not so nice at all very bossy, demanding & rude. actually the only thing good I can say about this place is the waitress & the chips. We went to panchos when it was on Biddle in wyandotte and it was horrible! So me thinking years and years go by maybe new owners-better food NO! Same old nasty food. Very outdated. Smelled like mildew. The Salsa taste like watered down ketchup with pepper flakes, hello that's not salsa! I asked for NO beans on my plate and what do you know my tamales had refried beans all over them they was super dry, since when does tamales have refried beans on them? The rice had a pretty color but NO flavor at all had to eat it on top of the chips to choke it down. Ohh and let's not forget about the 6 nasty gnats surrounding our food while we was trying eat and sort through the food that we paid for. so between trying to swallow this grossness and kill the gnats I believed everyone should be warned here on yelp. If the bugs were all over my TABLE I could just imagine what food items they were eating up in the kitchen. Never again will we go there. There's so many other great Mexican places surrounding this place. Here is your warning everyone, save your money and DO NOT Eat here.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch, this place is cheap and quick. When we sat down we were given chips and salsa immediately. There was a hot & mild. The salsa was heavy on tomato and just ok. I ordered the chicken chimichanga which came with rice and beans. I don't like beans so I passed on those. The chinichanga was crispy and deep fried, filled with chicken and cheese. It was topped with fresh lettuce, tomato & guacamole. The rice was just ok. We had two lunches for $12 out the door, it was fast and I felt that it was worth the money. Would I go out of my way to eat here, no. Would I recommend it to friends, not necessarily. But overall I want disappointed I ate here.

Yelp
I have been to Pancho's in the past and have thought it was ok...warranting my return visit to eat more Americanized "Mexican" food. This visit will be my last. Service was SLOW....there were only 4 tables in the restsurant at 7pm on Saturday night, so no excuse. Salsa was super salty, chips were stale ( reused?). Appetizer of flaming cheese was misleading...I was expecting Saganaki style showmanship and some actual flames. What I got was a lump of semimelted lumpy cheese in a bell pepper sauce. The sauce was tasty..however the low quality processed cheese used at Panchos was incapable of melting beyond the blobby state in which it was served. My entree if Chilies Rellenos was mushy and unimpressive drowned in processed cheese. Refried beans were so salty that they were offensive. Rice was bland and overcooked. When we checked out we mentioned that everything was very salty. They ignored the comment as if they didn't understand English and just smiled back at me blankly. My feet and hands are still swollen two days later from so much salt in this meal. Por Favor.....Go to Taco Bell instead of Pancho's.

Yelp
Grew up near here and now live in San Francisco. First stop after landing, Pancho's. Combination platter Chimichangas Salsa. Have it all!

Yelp
I love their Mexican food! I am so thankful my best friend introduced me to this place! Not only is their food great but their mango margaritas are the best you will find anywhere!

Yelp
I've been ordering carry out and dining in at Pancho's since since they've opened (give or take 8 years?) They've never messed up an order, the food is always plentiful and delicious, and the staff is always more than pleasant! Love this place!
google avatar

Vince N.

Yelp
Quit possibly the worst mexican food I have ever eaten. The chips were stale, and the salsa tasted like straight up tomatoe paste. Had a beef chimichanga, the beef was tender but very bland. Rice and beans also very bland and cold.
google avatar

Yelp
For the last year and half I've been coming in once a week for lunch. Always quick and great service. It's been a few months because I was trying to save money but as soon as I sat down, Maria remembered my order. Heads up, it's always a little chilly in there so bring a sweater.

Julian R.

Yelp
Excellent authentic Mexican food. Steak quesadilla is a fried tortilla folded in half stuffed with guacamole jalapeño onions and cheese AMAZING. Tacos and tamales classic and they have good salsa and homemade guacamole. Always clean

Yelp
This is my favorite Mexican place in the whole world! Best Mexican food, this side of the border.

Larry D.

Yelp
I love there chips and salsa. I haven't got anything I didn't like from here. Good in a pinch if you don't want to drive downtown. Fast service friendly staff

Karen S.

Yelp
Pancho's deserves so much recognition. I've been eating from Pancho's since I was a little girl and to this day have found nothing like it. Nothing can even touch it! Pancho's is THE BEST. I'm so glad they have stayed in business and have expanded their locations!!!!!

Yelp
Never had a bad lunch here. Pretty basic and tasty Mexican food. Staff is friendly and nice.

Yelp
I have been coming here for 6 or more years.......i ordered tamales today (1/06/2018) and they where gray......GRAY. The waitress wgo was lazy and not attentive to our table came over 3xs. She dropped off chips and menus. Then brought us our waters then our food for the 3rd time. I had to go to the counter for my ticket and let her know the tamales tasted funny and she replied "well the other 2tables before u didnt say anything"........i said well the proofs right there a whole plate of food.....she said the gray tamales where fresh.....my whole family lives tamales they are @all our family reunions and i have several family members who make them fresh and gray isnt what they look like after theyre freshly made.......needless to say its my fault for going there after the last incident where some junkie was bleeding all over the table and coughing extremely loud on purpose and not one employee checked to see if he was ok or ask the guy to leave because he was loudly talking about how he felt funny and couldn't stop bleeding or coughing not caring my table was right behind him.......and u could clearly tell he was on drugs.......and no one came to clean the blood up.......

Grace F.

Yelp
This is the second time I had issues there. How about the customer is always right? Well not there. I left ordering from there for 6 months or so and finally gave them another try. It was ok but now I went in and was looking at menu to order carryout when she went over me to help the lady behind me without saying excuse me but also helped another person. I bite my tongue and pointed at what I wanted and said I wanted ckn in enchiladas and beef in burritos mind u the small pk does not have enchiladas. Anyway I get my order and I ck it ask where my tamales are n she said u did not order it . Mind u I had to pay extra and then I just got mad she kept arguing with me when I told her over n over to fix it. I was getting madder cause she was smiling throughout this. Is she refused to put the order in to fix the missing items n still charged more . Then she tells the cook stuff in Spanish when I tell her I understand spanish. I ask her to does she know customer service? I think not. I got my food and left.. never again STAY AWAY.. when I asked for the manager she said my dad is ay home. So it's a loosing case.. I will just warn everyone because this happened 2x there they have no skills. ..
