14 Spots in Los Angeles for To-Go Taco Tuesday | Eater

"Whether you prefer a classic margarita or flavored margaritas (like apple, melon, or mango), this Manhattan Beach Mexican restaurant has you covered. It’s a taco-lover’s paradise, with everything from the basics (chicken) to the more refined (lobster tail). Don’t miss the shrimp diabla, served in puffed-up fried tortilla shells. The best part? Pancho’s is close enough to the beach for an easy to-go meal eaten by the water." - Vox Creative

I really loved the atmosphere of this restaurant—it’s a dream for any plant lover! The space is full of greenery, giving it a relaxed, tropical vibe that fits perfectly with its beachside location. Service was friendly and generally good, though not especially attentive—but given the laid-back, casual setting, it didn’t take away from the overall experience. Our food arrived promptly, well-seasoned, and nicely presented. I did order an appetizer that never made it to the table, but since the entrées came out quickly (and were generously portioned), it honestly would have been too much food anyway. We were a group of six, and everyone received their meals at the same time—hot and fresh. No one had any complaints, though one dish came with toppings that weren’t requested. Still, it wasn’t a big deal, and the flavors made up for it. Overall, this is a lovely spot for a casual, feel-good meal in a beautiful setting. I’d definitely come back!

Pancho's is the best! It has been a staple in the South Bay for many years. The people that work there, the food, and the people are incredible. If you were looking for authentic Mexican food and you want a great experience, go to Panchos. I can't say enough about this restaurant. It's not even on the menu anymore but my wife can still go in and order the poblano seafood pepper 🌶️🫑 dish with shrimp 🍤🦐 and they make it for her. How cool is that??? Pancho's is the best of the best, it's one place where you know you will not be let down. Also,it's great to celebrate birthdays.

I came in on a Friday evening and ordered the Spicy Margarita and Shrimp Diabla Puffy Tacos—and honestly, I haven’t stopped thinking about them since. The margarita was perfectly balanced: just enough heat, not overly sweet, with a tajin rim that added the right kind of kick. The tacos? Absolutely incredible. The shrimp was full of flavor, and the contrast of the crunchy puffy shell with the rice and beans made every bite satisfying. One of the most delicious meals I’ve had in a while. The atmosphere was just as perfect natural light, lush plants everywhere… it felt like I was dining in a garden. Peaceful, cozy, and beautiful. To top it all off, I ended the night with a walk on Manhattan Beach just a few blocks away. It was the perfect Friday. Can’t wait to come back—especially for those tacos.

I brought my mom and her lifetime friend to a Mother's Day brunch. Pancho's is a great place to dine, beautiful atmosphere, very Mexican traditional decor. I must review the food and other things that should have been taken care of before opening the business on this day. We arrived at 11 a.m., and the business opened at 10 a.m., we sat down at our table (not balance, and it moved or tilted with the slightest pressure) it made our brunch very uncomfortable and unsafe. I noticed the plate dishes as they were being delivered, and lots of plate with rice and beans were spilled over onto the tray, this made the presentation pretty bad, although very tasty food the presentation very poorly executed. But, to start off our order, I noticed that when I was flipping the menu, browsing I noticed that our menus were dirty with tomato sauce stains and easy quick clean with a cloth could of done it, the restaurant was not busy at this particular time, when we checked in, the host was just standing, doing nothing, as previous experience I would of taken this time to check every menu for stains and what not, clean them. Obviously, today was not the case. Not just mine, the menu was dirty, but my mom's menu was as well. Mu coffee mug had a chip on the top edge where it's easily seen by anyone. (Doesn't management see these things??) On the positive side, our server was nice and professional, somewhat a comedian. We customers love that kind of attention while dining. Good job, Sam! Overall all, our experience was 70 over 100, and I think the restaurant can do better.

I enjoyed Pancho’s in Manhatten Beach for the first time today. Even though the place was packed the service didn't miss a beat. Hopefully the managers appreciate their awesome staff. Everyone who greeted and served us was great. The food was good and the portions were satisfying. Given the trendy nature of the area I was surprised at how reasonable the prices are. If you are in the area, you should definitely check out Pancho’s.

Google
Location is easy to get to. Parking is bananas. Luckily there is valet parking, which has a wait. This restaurant has 2 floors. We sat on the 1st floor? Which was the bottom. Nicely decorated. The vibes were vibing but was very uncomfortable on trying to hear our table of 5, as it was super loud. Which I understand, people come out for a good time, party and drink. The food was delicious. I had the Enchiladas de Carnitas. I even tried my friends Enchiladas Rancheras, which were tasty. Our table salsa and chips were super spicy, so unfortunately I did not get to enjoy the chips and salsa. We had 2 birthdays at our table, which they shared some of their birthday treats, it was the Deep Fried Ice Cream, it tasted like a churro in ice cream. I was bummed I wasn’t asked if we wanted dessert, as I saw after, they had a 3 leches dessert & flan. Our waiter was very nice and thankfully split our check. The valet guys were also nice and helpful. While leaving, the bar area was packed!!! Life of the party with karaoke!! Would’ve been fun to stay but was quite a long drive to head home.

Pancho's is a favorite spot for really good Mexican dishes. The Margaritas sadly are hit or miss. Today they were a miss (and at $16.95 a glass, they should always be excellent) but the food was delicious.

Google
10/10 Mexican-themed tropical atmosphere, 10/10 margaritas, and 10/10 enchiladas. This place is right on the corner near Manhattan Beach and is a real gem. The interior is amazing from the tropical foliage to the thematic art. The food and service start are top-notch, not to mention the killer top-shelf margaritas. The guacamole and enchiladas are highly recommended also.

Yelp
Great tasting food! Seated our large group and took care of us. Very pretty decor and atmosphere.

Yelp
Time for a review update, not sure why I'm doing it, nothing has changed. The experience and location are always on point, granted, a little pricy, but you get what you pay for! If you're craving a lively and authentic Mexican dining experience in Manhattan Beach, Pancho's delivers on all fronts, from atmosphere to flavor to service. I recently stopped in on the 4th of July and started my evening at the bar, where Arnulfo was holding court behind the counter. He immediately set the tone with his warm demeanor and expert margarita skills. I ordered a strawberry margarita, fresh, perfectly balanced, and not overly sweet. He clearly takes pride in his craft. After soaking up some bar vibes, we transitioned to the lush, garden-style dining room downstairs. It's a beautiful, inviting space that captures the spirit of old-school Baja charm with a touch of Manhattan Beach flair. Edgar took care of us at the table and provided friendly, attentive service throughout the meal. The complimentary chips and salsa were the perfect kick-off. The chips were fresh and crisp, and the salsa had just the right amount of heat and tang. For my entrée, I went with two classic hard shell tacos with rice and beans, simple, satisfying, and exactly what I was hoping for. The shells had a satisfying crunch, and the meat was flavorful without being greasy (shredded beef). It reminded me why traditional comfort food like this never goes out of style. All in all, I had a very positive experience at Pancho's. It's a great spot whether you're looking to grab a drink, have a date night, or just enjoy a casual dinner with friends or family. The combo of strong drinks, good food, and laid-back but professional service makes this a place worth coming back to. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Pancho's is definitely a Manhattan Beach staple that delivers the kind of hospitality and flavor that keeps people coming back.

Yelp
it was my first time dining here yesterday and i can't wait to return. i cant decide whether the service, ambiance, or food was my favorite. the ambience makes me feel like i am in the Disney Encanto movie. The "casa" and interior is done so well and sets the tone for the meal. The service was very quick and efficient and all our food came out to be perfect. I had the steak tacos and even when i was full i kept on eating them. i will defiantly be returning soon!
google avatar

Yelp
They have the BEST chips and salsa!! My favorite thing to order is the artichoke/mushroom quesadilla, but I've enjoyed everything I order from here. The service is exceptional and I never have to wait if I need to order or pay. I like watching games on their big screen TVs.
google avatar

Sara K.

Yelp
Unassuming from the outside but the ambiance is sooo cute on the inside you are almost transported to Mexico. Tried a few combo dishes and all the food was solid and no frills. Always love free chips and salsa to start. Server was a very nice older gentleman. Good experience overall. No wonder this place is a Manhattan beach institution
google avatar

Michelle R.

Yelp
Beach parking. However they offer valet for $10 or park across the street in a pay structure. Prices are higher than most Mexican restaurants averaging $25 for an entree. Service is good. Friendly but not chatty. Overall no complaints from our server Rogelio. Food came out fast. Portion is plentiful. Spice level was excellent. My chile verde had a good kick but tolerable. Lunch for 4 with drinks came just shy $100 before tip.

Yelp
Let me first start off by saying the atmosphere is a 5 out of 5. I felt like I was teleported into Mexico once I entered the dinning room. Live plants in an atrium like setting. The majority of the people having dinner were there for someone's birthday because they give a free combo plate to you with an equal or greater paid meal. Good until I realized my wife's meal was $39 for shrimp enchiladas... so they're making up for the difference in their prices...smart on them. The food was okay...definitely not worth what we paid even split 2 ways with my meal free. I had the cheese enchiladas and chicken tamale combo. Nothing to write home about and I need to add some salt for more flavor. My wife had the shrimp and crab enchiladas and they were slightly better tasting. I wouldn't rush to go back but it definitely is a fun atmosphere with okay food. They do sing and bring a fried ice cream dessert on top of the free meal for your birthday.

Yelp
My sister is renting a house in this neighborhood because of the fires in the palisade . So now not only do we visit family, but we can eat some really scrumptious Mexican food. We've been coming here for years. The food is very authentic. We had a great time catching up. My mom and I got the same dish made different ways.Mole !! Both were amazing! Let's be honest that's kind of what Mexican food is bunch of the same food made a bunch of different ways ! The service is great and we love a restaurant with valet parking five stars

Yelp
Food was very mid. Nothing special. Many better places for food in the area. The ambiance is very good A+ with old school vibes and the service was very good. Just get your food to be better and I'll come back

Yelp
Delish food prior to comedy night( mondays ) Danno Carter typically features ten comedians.

Yelp
We loved the ambience of this place. Our service was excellent and the portions are gigantic. Everything was delicious from the chips and salsa to our entrees. The margaritas were a 7 out of 10. Not the best ever, but not bad. Prices are the only thing keeping me from 5 Stars. It's understandable in Manhattan Beach, but I still struggle to accept such a high bill for Mexican food. We will go back but it's a little too pricey to add to our regular rotation.

Yelp
Great Service, Amazing food. Love their Sunday brunch! Food is very flavorful and their champagne is really good as well. Definitely will be back!

Stephanie H.

Yelp
We enjoyed the Sunday brunch at Pancho's! The service was splendid and the food was delicious. The margaritas were quite tasty! The ambiance is amazing! We will be back for more!

Yelp
Very good restaurant, food was very delicious, service was excellent, interior ambience is also very interesting, they have parking behind the restaurant, with validation it is $10. Overall, it's good experience.

Yelp
Panchos has the most amazing service and wonderful classy people who visit there. My wife and I have been karaoke hosts there for 11 years and have never had a bad day... employees treat us like family. best atmosphere for karaoke cool stage lighting and great sound system. Karaoke is 4 nights a week Thursday thru Sunday
google avatar

Sarah G.

Yelp
i came to pancho's with a big group for a week night dinner. service was great and efficient. the inside is shockingly gorgeous with a central "patio" like basement. the margaritas were a little weak but tasted delicious. as for the food, it was all good and on the higher end of mexican food i've had. the chicken quesadilla had a good portion of meat and peppers inside. the fajitas were flavored well and had a healthy portion. it is just a bit expensive for what you get. i didn't expect $32 chicken fajitas and a $20 chicken quesadilla! but we were still happy with it if you're willing to pay the price for the ambiance.
google avatar

Jonathan B.

Yelp
After mediocre reviews we decided to try this place anyway and were rewarded off the bat with fantastic salsa, which is my litmus test. If you can't this well you've got no hope. The banana margarita is made with real fruit and the Carnitas were delicious
google avatar

Heather M.

Yelp
Been going here since I was a kid and it's just as fun and magical 40 years later! Food is great! Margaritas are even better!
google avatar

Susan B.

Yelp
Ask server if they do anything for birthdays. He said yes. Brought dessert. Charged $10.00. If there is going to be a charge he should have told us. He has worked there for 40 years. The prices are really high especially the drinks.
google avatar

Leyi S.

Yelp
I've been here a number of times and don't think I've gotten around to writing a review but I absolutely love coming here. The vibes are great, I love the way everything is laid out and decorated, genuinely so beautiful inside. The food is great, my favorite plate to get is Pancho's chimichanga. Raspberry margarita (blended) is fya as well ! Service is always great as well, the staff always check in and are even willing to give you their opinions. I will always love to come here. Recently for Mother's Day I brought my family here since they'd never been and they loved it as well, my mom even said she'd wanna come back so perhaps for her birthday we'll do so. 10/10 would recommend to anyone

Yelp
This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. If you want a good sit down restaurant this is your place. Everyone is always so nice, you get seated right away, the waiters are very attentive and the food is great!!! The only down side is the parking. There is a parking lot across the street that you have to put money in the meter or do street meter parking. Sometimes they have valet parking.
google avatar

Jessie A.

Yelp
Ambiance is fantastic. Food is caca. The first time i came here i noticed like 80% of the other customers Only had drinks and no food and i should have known then. The nachos are good and are more than enough for 2 people.
google avatar

Freddy Q.

Yelp
First off, I love the decor on the outside. They captured the true feeling of a Mexican restaurant/cantina. Soon as you walk in the place feels so authentic. We enjoyed the whole vibe, it's not forced it's an actual authentic experience. I ordered the mole and it was very rich tons of flavor. Our derive was also excellent. Loved this place, highly recommended!!
google avatar

Denisse D.

Yelp
Food was good! Bartender Kat was great! Ambiance was chill! AC was on which made it even better (it's hot outside). We will coming back!
google avatar

Susan J.

Yelp
Met friends for happy hour (2-7 PM) after work. I arrived late so I shared nachos and a taco plate that my friends ordered. I ordered a blended pomegranate margarita. The drink was too sweet for my liking and didn't seem to have much alcohol. Nachos were yummy and plentiful and the taco was delicious. The bar area was well decorated but looked dated. The dining area with skylight above seemed like a nice place to dine. The waitress was very attentive. There was live music at 8, but we didn't stay.
google avatar

Crystal T.

Yelp
If you want to go to a good karaoke bar in the area and have mediocre Mexican food, this is the place for you. Pancho's is located next to the beach, surrounded by a few other restaurants. We didn't have to make a reservation and just walked in. The wait was about 25 minutes before they sat us. Little to our surprise, the restaurant was bigger than we thought. When we first walked in, we thought it was just the bar and then a small dining area. It's actually bigger. I loved the decor. Foliage everywhere. However, they still had Valentine's Day balloons up and it was a bit cringy. All I have to say is that their prices are ridiculous for mediocre Mexican food. I ordered a crab and shrimp quesadilla and it was $28 worth of cheese. I also ordered taquitos and paying $20 for it wasn't worth it either. Two items and a horchata totaled to $61! Are you serious? The service was okay. Our waiter made sure our glasses of water was never empty. And at least the waiters were dressed nice and professional. The downside, I noticed that they gave other customers a bag to put their to-go containers in. Not us. This was a never eating here again moment. Overpriced Mexican Food. I'm from The Bay, San Francisco Mission District to be exact and this mexican spot WASN'T IT! So disappointing. However, I might return for Karaoke night though. I loved the vibe. 3 stars for good horchata.
google avatar

Ed H.

Yelp
Love this place! Great food, service and ambiance at a fair price. Highly recommend it!
google avatar

Colleen W.

Yelp
$35 for a plate I had the chimichanga there was no meat and it was filled with bell peppers and mushrooms have never had that in my chimichanga before
google avatar

Cyndi T.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Mole enchiladas to die for! Margaritas were perfect. Great birthday dinner for my son!
google avatar

Karla M.

Yelp
Our family was here to celebrate two milestone birthdays and we had a great time! The service was excellent and timely. The food was amazing, our family favorite is the carne en salsa roja, but you really can't go wrong here. We had three kids with us and usually they are very picky, but they loved all the food. I love a place with a good kids menu and fun atmosphere. The staff did a great job celebrating the birthdays, they brought out sombreros and fried ice cream, then they took pictures of the family and printed them out for us. This is a fun place for dinner anytime or for a special celebration.
google avatar

Joann C.

Yelp
They did a great job on the decor and the vibes were great, but the food was tasteless and overpriced. Friendly service, but I wasn't a fan of the 10 dollars parking fee and the 18% gratuity on top of that. Due to the food's disappointing quality, this will be the first and last time we eat here.
google avatar

Yelp
So many amazing family memories here. Food, service, ambiance, and overall experience is the best! Thank you, Pancho's.
google avatar

Yelp
Panchos is a fantastic dependable Mexican - American restaurant. It is the perfect place to bring visitors to Los Angeles. The servers are professional and fast. The atmosphere is cute, relaxing even when noisy, and fun. It's also near the beach to walk off the 2,000 calories you will consume. Everything on the menu is good and portions are huge. Sometimes when busy the food may come out a little less warm then desired. You will know if that happens because the food is normally delivered very quickly. If you are waiting a while, Eg more than 15 minutes, ask the waiter or the dishes may be warm not hot. All traditional Mexican drinks are amazing. Margaritas are $17.50 with dinner. They don't have a drink menu, just ask for a suggestion.
google avatar

Ruby M.

Yelp
I was in the southbay area wondering where to go to, when I stumbled upon this restaurant. I ordered the mole pipián which was delicious, ate every single bit of the entree. Coming into the restaurant, I did not expect it to be as big as it was. A beautiful and specious venue, which amazing decor. Super convenient location, especially if you want to hang around, and take a nice stroll by the beach. The house margarita was perfect. Definitely a place worth checking out!

Yelp
I always have such a good time visiting Pancho's with friends. I love the atmosphere here, and it very much reminds me of family restaurants I've dined in while traveling in Mexico. The aged wood embellishments throughout, the handmade furniture and authentic Mexican tile, lush courtyard with greenery and fountains work together to create an authentic charm that is often attempted, but seldom achieved in the US. This place just makes me happy! First and foremost, the guacamole is outstanding! It's surprising that such a simple dish with only a handful of ingredients can be prepared so many different ways. It's just magical here at Pancho's! Also, you'll also want to try the spinach artichoke enchiladas. While I've never had this specific presentation in Mexico, it's absolutely delightful and one of my favorite dishes here. Speaking of favorites... you should also try Birria Chef Ramon because it's an explosion of flavor. Marinated beef with guajillo chiles and herbs, this dish makes you want to write your Yelp review before you even finish your dinner! You'll want to shout from the rooftops just how good it is. Pancho's Restaurant has a whole lot of appeal, especially in this Manhattan Beach location. Come here hungry with a table full of friends and you'll be sure to have a great time.

Yelp
We truly stan a serendipitous find that becomes a classic favorite. After a day shopping in MB my friends and I were in the mood for some authentic mexican food. We truly thought it would be impossible to find a good place not on the eastside, but boy were we pleasantly surprised. This place is significantly larger than the outside would lead you to believe. When you walk in you'll find that they have two stories worth of dining space. Making them able to accomodate both large parties and last minute dining decisions. They have a great happy hour with fairly priced, but large, margaritas. The portions are quite large (as you can see in the photos). The food is full of flavor and truly taste authentic. Not to mention they dont play when it comes to the spice level! A great hidden gem in MB!
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
Very nice experience. The food was excellent. Not only is the food good but the have some type of entertainment most nights. Everything from comedy nights to karaoke.

Yelp
Went here looking for a family style restaurant with free chips and salsa. The ambiance of the restaurant was beautiful, I love how decorated the entire restaurant was. Salsa and chips were good and refilled often. The salsa was surprisingly spicy for being a table salsa so be careful if you don't like spice. My dad had ordered a beer off tap and they seemed to have misheard and brought one in a bottle that he hadn't asked for. They were nice to help him and get what he had initially wanted. I got a bean and cheese burrito enchilada style which was good but not very warm. Must've been left out and not under a heat lamp since they normally stay warm for awhile. My family and boyfriend got the fish tacos, another burrito and the combo plate. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The only thing was the attention to service. The servers never checked on us and we waited for 20 minutes for someone to come over to be able to ask for our check. I think it would be nice if they came by the table more often! Overall good food and a nice joint for family style Mexican!

Yelp
The service is great and the food was very delicious. Such a beautiful restaurant. Will definitely go again on my next trip to California.
google avatar

Alejandra P.

Yelp
Came here because I believe it's the best Mexican restaurant in the west side near the beach. They have valet parking but street parking isn't impossible to find. The restaurant is really nice inside. It's welcoming and they play nice Latin music. I got the burrito Del Mar without cheese or sour cream and it was so delicious. I can eat it again and again. I wasn't the biggest fan of the margaritas but I am not a fan of margaritas ever. It was a celebration so I decided to order. My friends got tacos Al pastor and thought they were amazing. Will return. The service was great too. They were very kind and kept coming to our table to check on us.

Yelp
There were definitely many positives. service was very good, lots of plants and well decorated....ambiance a definite plus.. Did not have a corporate vibe. Started with chips and very good salsa. Coffee was good, and the champagne, while on the sweet side, was drinkable. At meal close we received 2 sugared, fried buñeulos, a nice way to end the meal. The problems? The food. Basically everything was great except the meal. We were there for champagne brunch which had a single vegetarian option, the huevos rancheros served with beans and rice. Frankly, neither of us enjoyed the rancheros, the accompanying beans, nor the rice (served with a dollop of salsa). Seasoning was definitely lacking. The location, one block from beach, was excellent and allowed for a nice walk on the esplanade. The is a parking garage across the street ($2/hour in 2024). Considering the 'extras', the 2024 price of ~$40 per person for breakfast (including tax and tip) would have been more palatable if we enjoyed the food. Adding a vegetarian omelette option would also have helped, always frustrating to have a single vegetarian choice..

Yelp
My mother and I both celebrated our birthday with a night of fun and karaoke. We had a great time, the karaoke dj Dion and Jenny are wonderful, and my waitress Elba is the sweetest thing since sliced cheesecake. She is super on point, and pays attention to her customers. I like this rerestaurant and will be back soon.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was tasteless. No seasoning or lack of seasoning in the refried beans the spinach enchiladas, lack of flavor in the artichoke spinach enchiladas as well. Pretty disappointed. Tbh. The part that worked for us was the guacamole side. This spot is very Americanized Mexican Food. Not close to what it should taste like at all. Nice spot that catches the eye on the outside and location but the inside and food need work. Nice service from the workers tho! Thanks for good service.
google avatar

Su S.

Yelp
Food was okay. I ordered the chimichanga especial which came with Mexican-style rice and beans. The chimichanga was crispy but the flavor was missing. I also ordered the deep fried ice cream and it was delicious! It was sweet with a kick of cinnamon. It reminded my of eating a churro. The service was kind and fast. The best part about the restaurant is the setting. The place is filled with plants and lights. It looks beautiful.

Yelp
A nice restaurant with really good food and service .. we will go back again when in the area .. very traditional and super friendly staff

Yelp
I've been coming to Pancho's since I was a kid. For many years, the food was phenomenal. Solid traditional style Mexican food with great chips, salsa and guacamole. For a while, not sure what happened but the food's quality declined. Maybe change of ownership, who knows. UPDATE!!!!! Went for dinner last night and it was amazing. It's back to top notch! Delicious carne asada plate with rice, beans, and guacamole. Great service. They haven't done much to the place ambiance wise, but it's not needed. Looks great, and has been since Day 1! Panchos is a staple traditional restaurant in the South Bay just a few steps from the water. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The perfect place for a big group ! The food was sooo good , the service was awesome, we hadn't been there in 10 years and forgot how fun it is !! The live plants !!!! Whoever has kept these beauties growing gets 5 stars !! Love the swooping fiddle fig trees that have reached the tall ceilings! We will definitely be back !!

Yelp
Came here with some amazing colleague to celebrate our bday. Had the chicken mole, tbh, I wasn't impressed. The waiter recommended it and I probably should have went with my original of chicken enchiladas. We also had the ceviche and it was fresh! Def recommend that! The service is as amazing. Very entertaining and tentative!
