Yelp
Such a disappointing meal. I was so happy to come to Vegas and see so many restaurants with a plethora of vegan option for my lady, and a number of them that looked delicious for me, too. It looked like we would have no trouble finding good places to eat, and off-strip so it wouldn't cost us a fortune. Menu looked amazing, reviews were great - what could go wrong?
Well, my fiance liked hers, so that's a plus. She got a few tacos, and if I recall, they weren't all winners, but enough that she enjoyed it. For more details, read her collective works.
As for me, when I ordered, the server asked me if I wanted a red or green salsa. I asked which is the more medium or mild sauce, expecting it to be the verde, but it was the red. Therefore, red it is.
The biggest issue was the sauce. The server specifically called it salsa, the menu calls it salsa. This was clearly a mole sauce, not a salsa. It practically had the consistency of tomato sauce (yes, I know salsa has a tomato base, but you also know what I'm talking about). Had anyone, at any time, told me it was a mole sauce, I would have ran from it like it was something you run from very fast. Godzilla? A velociraptor? I don't know. Something big and awful, cause that's what this was, a big burrito covered in something awful.
Now to be fair, I don't like mole sauce. Maybe you do and this would have been a slice of heaven. But it just isn't for me. Ever. Moreover, I have to tell you, their chick-end (plant based chicken) tasted like the end of a chicken (see what I did there). No, I am not a vegan. Yes, I live with a vegetarian and yes, I follow meatless monday and other meatless meals, too. I have had gardein and quoron and darling and morningstar and chicken flavored textured vegetable protein. Some are okay, some aren't, but all of them need seasonings and/or sauces. So did this. Problem is, it had a sauce that I already didn't like, so the lackluster chick-end with the mole sauce was a bad combo.
This wasn't a 3 star review. I feel like I just wrote a 1 or 2 star review, but I'm trying to save it by stressing that I do not like mole, so maybe this meal was better than I thought for those who like mole sauces. I'm not even saying I wouldn't come back - I would just be a lot more careful with my sauces and would go with one of the other gluten free "meats".
