Save your money, folks. The food here is not as good as they make it out to be.
I've eaten here 3 times already and each time there has always been something that they disappoint on.
Lechon Kawali: I asked them how it was made and they said that they pre-fry the pork belly. Then when someone orders it, they just reheat it by frying it again. Do you know what happens to food, especially food with a lot of fat in it after you fry, let cool, then fry again? It gets chewy, like rubber. The skin wasn't even crispy, it was like biting into beef jerky and the fat completely disintegrated and stuck to your teeth. It was absolutely disgusting.
Turon: I ordered turon during an event on Fort Bliss. Their menu clearly states $5 for 3 of them. I got 1 normal sized one, and 1 half the size of the first one. When I complained I was told that the owner specifically said "During events, we only give 2 per order." That was very upsetting. Not only did that policy not reflect on their menu prices, but $2.50 for each lumpia is insane. It wasn't even good. I've been making banana lumpia for years, it's crispy, and light when you don't let it sit in tepid oil for a long time. Nothing in it is raw, it shouldn't take long to fry.
Chicken Pancit: It was very bland. I mean, noodles are noodles, you can't go wrong with the cook, but there was no flavor. This was a weird dish, though. I had bits of chicken breast that was sautéed which was what I expected. Then I had a chicken leg bone and wing that was hidden under all the noodles, and part of the chicken was completely burned. I mean....BLACK BURNED. Chicken leg didn't have any meat on it--it was literally just the boney leg.
Halo Halo: Their halo halo is not authentic. Halo halo is made with red bean, coconut jelly, shaved ice, shredded coconut, evaporated milk, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, Ube. Ube is the base of all good filipino halo halo. I've had some where other ingredients are added like jack fruit or durian; but there was always Ube. Pancit Wagon served halo halo with some jelly, evaporated milk and what looked like a cherry slushy for the base. No bueno.
The only redeeming thing about this place is the lumpia. It's not bad. I'd prefer Vietnamese eggrolls which are thicker and have more filling.
