I grew up on Panda Express. I'm not ashamed of it. If you want something inexpensive, ready in an instant, that was very recently prepared, you should hit it up. But grading on the curve of Chinese restaurants in Morris County, there's no denying that you could find better.
For my nostalgic visit, my first in 10 years, I went with Sweetfire chicken, mushroom chicken, and fried rice. I've always been a sucker for their rice - it's fluffy and tasty, although the carrots and peas tend to get lost. The mushroom chicken, which came in a delectable sauce, needed a more generous portion, especially when compared against my oversized Sweetfire chicken portion, which unfortunately had papery and soggy breading.
I'm not sure when this chain became unfriendly to vegetarians. Everything on the entree list was chicken or beef. What happened to tofu?
Food is prepared in small batches several times a day, which keeps it fresh upfront. Service was screaming fast, parking on a Friday was easy, and Apple Maps is totally wrong about the location.
