I have been searching out Chinese places for a little while now. I am not sure why, but it seems to be all I want for lunch these days, well besides Mexican, burgers, you know, other health food that is...
I had to go to Charlie's meat market on summer so I whipped out the bookmarks and came across this place. It is a bit down the road from my destination but I headed there nonetheless.
I arrive to find a very dated place both inside and out. It was clean at a glance so who cares how old the place is. Let's eat.
The servers seem like family and they work together well to make sure you are taken care of. I had great service while I was there and noticed they knew several customers by name as soon as they walked in the door. They seem to know what they wanted and confirmed their assumptions with their guest. I thought that was really cool.
I saw a General Tso's special on the sign by the door and I told her that's what I wanted. It came with Soup and an Eggroll. It think it's like $8.00 or something
The Hot and Sour soup was amazing! It was almost perfect in my useless opinion. It was slightly sweet, wonderfully savory, with a little spicy bang at the end. I ate it like I was eating for the first time in a week. I ate it all, even the unidentifiable stuff!
GS Chicken arrives and I was blown away by the freshness and how it was prepared. It was kind of crunchy without any visible batter. It may have been coated in oil and flour and then cooked, I am not sure, but it tasted awesome. There were no unknown cuts of pre-breaded chicken here, just fresh cuts of juicy awesome white meat. The sauce was equally as impressive.
The veggies were bright and crisp. They were cooked very well, just the way I like them.
The fried rice was pretty much perfect. The fried rice alone is reason to come back. It was fluffy and fresh, the egg and veggies were cooked perfectly. Look at my picture and you will see how good it looked.
I was impressed! I will be back!
