Beloved for overstuffed takeout boxes and a drive‑thru window, Panda Garden earns local-love mentions from I Love Memphis. Expect crisp fried items that travel well and generously spiced noodles like Singapore street noodles.

My favorite dish is their orange chicken with beef rice noodles! Their hot & sour soup is an absolute must! Also, the people who own this restaurant are sooo kind and go above & beyond to make your experience good!💌

We received delivery on a Wednesday night, and it near to closing. Even though it was last minute, they did a 10/10 job! The food was delicious and HOT, the proteins were of excellent quality, and the portion sizes guaranteed leftovers. We are beyond happy with our experience here.

Google
This is one of our favorite Chinese restaurants! The food is top-notch, no question! Delicious crab, Rangoon, egg rolls, combination, fried rice, chicken curry, fried dumplings, all out outstanding! The building is very run down when dining inside, you can see all of the ceiling tiles with water stains and mold, and it looks like the ceiling is about to fall in. Hopefully it doesn’t for a long time! If it were my business, I would definitely take more pride in its appearance inside.

We were too late for the lunch special so we ordered combo meals and added soup. The service was good and the food was hot. The restaurant was clean and tidy. My husband ordered sesame chicken expecting the dish to come with sauce but it was more like fried chicken nuggets. I ordered snow peas and chicken. The soup, egg rolls and crab puffs were very good. My husband didn’t like the fried rice.

Google
This place is a Memphis institution, I started going when I moved here in 1982 when I was 16. It was called Formosa. Not sure about the name change or if it changed hands, but the food is consistently top notch American Chinese. It's an authentic American inspired, interpretation of Chinese food and it's really good. The atmosphere is 1990s and for some reason Arby's comes to mind. It is far from fancy or a first date place, but the servings are large and tasty, the restaurant is clean, the service is quick, and the staff is kind.

The food today was delicious. I had the lunch special and it was a great value for all I received. I would definitely be back soon. Plenty of parking space available out front. Friendly staff. Take out or dine in.

Yelp
Very nice hole in the wall place. Food was excellent. Had the Szechuan chicken which was a great portion size, 1/2 order of sesame chicken which has the sauce on the side, a little different, and that was good for 2 people with leftovers! They were quick, and had ready on time! I will be back!!

Yelp
Food was really good. A bit too much onion in the fried rice. Really commend chopping onions a little finer especially for the kiddos who aren't fun of onions.

Yelp
The Panda Garden is a must try, they never disappoint. The food is delicious and the service is speedy and the staff is friendly and nice. Panda Garden is most definitely A Hidden Gem

Yelp
I want to like this place so badly because it's so close! But. I've ordered there twice now, several different chicken dishes and rice each time. They are just all bland . I can't tell which dish is which because they all taste exactly the same. Bland . Not terrible! Just no taste at all.

Yelp
All the food I have tried has been delicious. My mom and I love the vegetable rice noodles and egg drop soup. The service is always good and friendly. I have only eaten inside the restaurant once or twice. The ambiance is family friendly. We usually get orders to go and they have always been correct.

Yelp
Been several times now post covid and they are back on track. Great place for a $10 lunch!

Yelp
Well worth every penny. Best hot and sour soup eva' It's all on point. Value to money as well.

Yelp
Food was excellent! We had hot and sour soup, egg drop soup, crab rangoons, spring rolls and we shared the orange shrimp entree. Each dish was fresh and delicious! Do not let the outside of this building fool you- it is a gem! The service was great as well. This was, by far, the best Chinese food I've had in a very long time. I highly recommend the orange shrimp. I think you can either order it mild or hot, we did not specify so I think we received it mild. Next time we will order the hot version. It was still wonderful! Highly recommend!

Brian M.

Yelp
Best hot and sour soup in town. The staff and servers are friendly and attentive, the prices are reasonable, and the ambiance is casual and family friendly. You can call in orders and pick them up to go at the window or dine in. We have dined in for years and are impressed every time we order something different. The chicken curry noodles are a stand out, but there's a lot of good options on the menu. If the menu doesn't have the type of meat and combo you're looking for, they have always accommodated anyone I brought in to make something that works for them.

Yelp
Fancied Chinese, so I placed a Panda order. I was not disappointed. General Tso's chicken, of course. Spring rolls, of course. Fried rice, of course. I picked up my order at the drive-through. At home I was delighted to see my order opened up. I received a fried-like rice with my General Tso's chicken, instead of white rice, which their menu states comes with the order. Cool. I was surprised and happy that I also received a little something extra. An eggroll and two Crab Rangoon. Yummy! A delightful lady took my money and handed me my food. I'LL BE BACK!

Damone V.

Yelp
It's the best Chinese-American restaurant in the city. All your favorites, but prepared with skill and quality ingredients. Service is exceptional, and they even have a drive-thru window:

Margie D.

Yelp
The lemon chicken is so good! You won't regret it, I promise. I always get take-out, and my food is packed carefully and is almost always ready earlier than expected.

Yelp
Panda Garden is a locally owned small Asian restaurant with very good food and service. The dishes are Asian with revisions to American tastes. The staff is friendly and accommodating. If you have a question, don't hesitate to ask. The building itself is small and old, but serviceable. My wife is very particular about chicken, but she loves the chicken dishes from Panda Garden. They are well prepared, not gristly or chewy as some places serve chicken dishes. I am neither vegetarian nor vegan, but I love vegetables and tofu dishes. They are always delicious here. You can drive through or dine-in, but if you drive through, call ahead to have your meal ready. Good food such as this takes a bit of time to prepare. I hope you enjoy your visit.

Yelp
They are open during the pandemic, but pick up is now at the drive thru window. They are offering the same delicious food and friendly service. I placed my order by calling in,but you can place your order online also. I ordered a variety of things ( chicken wings, wonton soup, spring rolls, Singapore rice noodles). All were very good, the rice noodles had just a little spice and filled with veggies, shrimp, chicken, and shrimp. Wonton soup one of my favorite things to order along with the spring rolls. Chicken wings were good, I won't order again, they were typical wings you'd get at a Chinese restaurant, just not my go to. I decided to try something different from my usual vegetable fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. It was well worth the drive from my side of town and I'm glad to see they are still in business during this time!! I've been coming here for years and the food/service has been consistent.

Yelp
No thanks. The quality has consistently went down with each and every order. I couldn't be more dissatisfied.

Yelp
I have been searching out Chinese places for a little while now. I am not sure why, but it seems to be all I want for lunch these days, well besides Mexican, burgers, you know, other health food that is... I had to go to Charlie's meat market on summer so I whipped out the bookmarks and came across this place. It is a bit down the road from my destination but I headed there nonetheless. I arrive to find a very dated place both inside and out. It was clean at a glance so who cares how old the place is. Let's eat. The servers seem like family and they work together well to make sure you are taken care of. I had great service while I was there and noticed they knew several customers by name as soon as they walked in the door. They seem to know what they wanted and confirmed their assumptions with their guest. I thought that was really cool. I saw a General Tso's special on the sign by the door and I told her that's what I wanted. It came with Soup and an Eggroll. It think it's like $8.00 or something The Hot and Sour soup was amazing! It was almost perfect in my useless opinion. It was slightly sweet, wonderfully savory, with a little spicy bang at the end. I ate it like I was eating for the first time in a week. I ate it all, even the unidentifiable stuff! GS Chicken arrives and I was blown away by the freshness and how it was prepared. It was kind of crunchy without any visible batter. It may have been coated in oil and flour and then cooked, I am not sure, but it tasted awesome. There were no unknown cuts of pre-breaded chicken here, just fresh cuts of juicy awesome white meat. The sauce was equally as impressive. The veggies were bright and crisp. They were cooked very well, just the way I like them. The fried rice was pretty much perfect. The fried rice alone is reason to come back. It was fluffy and fresh, the egg and veggies were cooked perfectly. Look at my picture and you will see how good it looked. I was impressed! I will be back!

Yelp
Came here after the good reviews. I'm Asian American, so possibly more picky than your average customer. Drive through only. The female staff at the window was very friendly and wore a mask, which is courteous during covid. I ordered a hunan shrimp with sweet and sour soup on the side. Both were good although the soup was a bit too sweet for my taste and the shrimp was a bit sour for my taste. The eggroll was quite good, however. Prices were fine. My biggest complaint was that the bag included no utensils or napkins. For someone coming from out of town with no spoons or forks this was a major inconvenience.
google avatar

Derek F.

Yelp
Lo mein was fettuccine and barely edible. Chicken dish was similarly unremarkable. Best thing was the rice I guess.
google avatar

J C.

Yelp
Excellent Chinese food in Memphis, but if you like it spicy, you need to let them know that you can take it. We've tried the curry beef, Singapore noodles, and twice cooked pork, all winners. I've had "less than" experiences at other Asian restaurants in town, but never at Panda Garden. The meat and vegetables are always fresh and good quality. Hands down my favorite!
google avatar

Yelp
Went here for the first time yesterday. It is probably the best option for good Chinese food in Memphis. It was fresh, delicious, affordable, and the service was quick! I will be back again. I am sure the quality will hold up the next time I am there. I honestly can't believe I've put up with other Chinese food in Memphis for so long. P.s. I was a little put off by their appearance on the outside buuuuut they were super clean and well decorated on the inside.

Yelp
I drove right by Charlie's Meat Market while I was reading reviews and checking bookmarks. Panda Garden was just a bit farther down the road which gave me plenty of time to read a couple more reviews while I was driving. I've never been here before, but they already knew my name and they knew what I wanted to order. It's like they're psychic or something. They even knew my imaginary friend's name. Most people can't even see her. Her name is Boomquifa. She likes it here. It's too Americanized for me so I'll stick with just ok. Boomquifa likes this food because it makes her ass big. The hot and sour was great. It had bits of toe foo which is good if you're a vegetabletarian. The fried crunches are good but the soup makes them soggy. Why can't they have crunchy soup? The eggroll was great with the real chicken in it. No artificial preservatives here. Fried rice was good, but all I could find in it was onions. How about some green peas or carrots people? Next time, I'll try the panda bear fried rice. Crab Rangoon was very disappointing. Cheese and honey was just about it. Not necessarily bad, but I've been searching for a fried cream cheese that I used to get from somewhere else. They burned down. General Tso chicken was the best thing here. Not too much breading and very tender. Boomquifa's imaginary friend ate half of it. Zuo Zongtang wouldn't appreciate being called a chicken or being named after a chicken. The irony is, along with being a great military leader, he was a great botanist. Maybe General Tso could help them get their dead garden growing again. The leftovers just weren't worth boxing up. I snuck out the back door and drove off. Boomquifa got stuck with the bill. She was beginning to get on my nerves.

Yelp
Awesome food, always. Hot and Sour Soup is the best we have ever had. Many years we have been going here.
google avatar

Fred S.

Yelp
We absolutely love this place. The most delicious and consistent Chinese food I've ever had. The hot and sour soup is wonderful.

Christen F.

Yelp
I don't often write restaurant reviews, but every time I have eaten here since the pandemic started I feel compelled to commend Panda Garden on their incredible Covid-prevention protocols. I have not felt safer ordering take-out during the pandemic than I have here. Pick-up is via drive-through window and the person working at the window wears a mask (always properly), face shield, and gloves. Not only is her covid protocol top notch, she doesn't sacrifice service for safety. She is always incredibly warm and friendly and has a great sense of humor. When you add in that the food is delicious, reasonably priced, and ready quickly, it's hard not to rave about this restaurant. We have become regulars! Thank you!

Yelp
The chicken looks boiled w some sauce .Not griled at alll. The service was great & fast. Wontons are very hard. When my husband is not pleased it's not good because he is not a picky eater. Will not be back ! Even my mom was just silent didn't want us to feel bad since we invited her Fried rice didn't even have vegetables in it Wok n Roll on winchester my #1 still

steve l.

Yelp
If you value Chinese food -- run the other way. The mapo tufu was totally wrong -- in a brown gravy rather than black bean sauce. The Kung pow chicken was tasteless. The hot and sour soup was edible, but should have been called hot and sweet.
google avatar

Ann D.

Yelp
I love this place. Everything I have tried is good. Tonight I had sesame chicken and it's one of the best things on the menu. Yum.
google avatar

Azel A.

Yelp
First off, the sesame chicken was basically chicken nuggets. The sause and seeds were separated. So you had to build it yourself. The lo mein had no flavor. The people were nice. The prices for entrees were like up to 8$. In my group of 7, we didn't not enjoy the food. The Orange chicken was the only thing that tasted normal.

Erocka K.

Yelp
So good!! I've been going here for years and it always hits the spot. The waitstaff is very cordial and I appreciate that they are keeping covid precautions (wearing masks, and sometimes even gloves) while working. I usually get the hunan chicken combo with another half order of crab Rangoon and an extra egg roll but everything I've ever tried is good! I'm also half chinese btw and it's the only budget friendly chinese food place near midtown Memphis that kinda feels like home.
google avatar

Roy B.

Yelp
Excellent Chinese food great service great atmosphere perfect place !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
google avatar

Jordan H.

Yelp
Always a good experience ordering from here. Very fast and covid precautious! They have masks and shields. The online ordering makes things faster as well. Sometimes the rice noodle is a bit salty, but it is still good!

Carolyn R.

Yelp
Because of the wonderful reviews given this restaurant, I drove 8 miles to get the "best authentic" Chinese food. I got the sesame chicken. The menu said the batter has sesame seeds in it. There were none. There were a few sesame seeds in the sauce (which was separate from the chicken). Both were meh. The crab rangoons were beautiful and crispy, but the filling was only cream cheese, not even a taste of crab. Egg drop soup was k. I truly hope this was just a bad day.
google avatar

Kisha G.

Yelp
Great food, I ordered almond chicken and it was a great balance. Instead of the brown sauce they use a clear sauce that is light.
google avatar

Loghan L.

Yelp
The crab rangoons and hot and sour soup was so good!
google avatar

Darla C.

Yelp
I don't know why but I keep forgetting this place is here. They have the best food. Many places have ok crab Rangoon but often the shell is dry and chewy and they have very little filling. Not here! There's have plenty of gooey filling and the shell is so fresh and crunchy. Every thing I received was fresh and delicious. The service is friendly and I learned how to say thank you in Cantonese. Dozia!
google avatar

Caroline H.

Yelp
Gosh I really love this place. It is always consistent and everyone is so friendly. I only have ordered takeout, but it is always quick and fresh. Not to mention super affordable for the amount of food they give you. Love it
google avatar

Daniel C.

Yelp
This is the location of one of the oldest Chinese restaurants in Memphis. It used to be Formosa before Formosa moved to the Quince and Kirby area. Panda Garden largely kept the same Formosa menu from yesteryear. I think they do American-Chinese very well. I would recommend this place if people feel like having American-Chinese or just come here for nostalgia. But between Mosa, Formosa, and its other "children restaurants" Royal Panda and Mulan, I would say this is probably the least impressive one. I do feel bad to give them just 3 stars, but 4 stars also gives them way too much credit. If I could instantly teleport to any of these Formosa restaurants, this would be the last choice on my list. I love the hot and sour wontons here and their tofu dishes.
google avatar

Nick W.

Yelp
Good option for take-out or a quick meal. My go-to is the General Tso's chicken, and while it has never been top notch, I've never been disappointed or had any issues. It's about what one would expect for a budget friendly and quick take-out joint.
google avatar

Andy S.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place. It's off the beaten path. Its a home in the wall. The service was ok. We had a meal for two. I had the wonton soup and it was great. My significant other had the hot and sour soup and he liked it. The egg rolls were up next. They were vegetarian. They were good but I'm not a vegetarian. Our main dishes were severely lacking. Everything was like warm. It came with broccoli beef. It was ok. The sweet and sour chicken was the best but it's nothing to write home about. The fried rice was ok. Nothing was phenomenal unfortunately. I was underwhelmed. I probably wouldn't return.
google avatar

Kasey H.

Yelp
Hands down the best Chinese food in Memphis! We eat a ton of Asian food in our house and we are incredibly loyal to this restaurant. Never disappoints! Best spring rolls I've ever had in my life including China Town in NYC which we frequent often. Love the egg drop and wonton soup. Mushroom beef is fantastic especially if you order spicy. There's no comparison for Chinese. Best spot!
google avatar

Gina R.

Yelp
In my opinion, Panda Garden is the best Chinese in Memphis after A-Tan. The ingredients are always good quality and fresh. Their vegetables are crisp yet tender enough not to use a knife. I love their egg drop soup, crab rangoons and spring rolls. They are always nice and courteous. I can't say enough good things about them.

Christopher H.

Yelp
One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Memphis! Fast, order is alway correct, added bonus such as free soup randomly, friendly staff and great food.
google avatar

Brooke K.

Yelp
This is our favorite Chinese restaurant in Memphis. Our very favorite menu item is the hot and sour soup. Our 8 year old even gets a cup every time we go. We have never had a bad experience. Food and service are always on point!! The establishment is old and out dated but don't let that keep you for trying this gem! Prices are very reasonable and you get a lot of food with every entree.
google avatar

Rich L.

Yelp
Stopped in for a midweek lunch. It had been ages since I'd had Chinese and I had a craving. Service was prompt and efficient. I ordered General Tso's chicken extra spicy. Lunch started with hot n sour soup which was very good. My lunch came out shortly after that and in total didn't take very long. I was disappointed by the food prep and presentation though. It appeared to be a plain chicken breast cooked, cut up and ladled with sauce. There was no breading on the chicken for the sauce to cling to so it was simply chicken meat in sauce, and the sauce wasn't spicy, let alone extra spicy (hot). It seemed too rushed. And all of this for under $10. That's a bargain.
google avatar

Jacob B.

Yelp
After several visits they still won't serve me actual Panda. I have asked dozens of times but they must think i'm a cop. I'm starting to wonder if they even have any Panda...... Everything else is yummy though.
google avatar

Chuck B.

Yelp
If you like Mosa, you will like the favors offered here. The atmosphere and location can't compare with Mosa, but the recipes are said to be the same and it certainly tastes like that is the case. Fast service and always predictable food. The house fried rice is delicious. These people rank among the best carry out in the city. You will nearly go insane if you have a long drive home with the delicious food steaming nearby in the carry out boxes. You may want to bring a designated driver if you are overly hungry.

Abbie R.

Yelp
Authentic food for great prices. If this place was located any closer to Mulan bistro, mulan would be out of business. Everyone here is so sweet!!! Best Chinese food in Memphis hands doWn 10/10 you are missing out if you haven't tried it

Hunter R.

Yelp
The rice tasted like it was instant, it was awful!!! Wouldn't recommend this place to my dog.

Erin B.

Yelp
I've had a few different Chinese restaurants during COVID. Panda Garden is the best by far-both in taste and affordability. I will continue to drive past multiple other Chinese restaurants just for the Panda Garden experience. They now have a drive through which allows for very limited contact during COVID
