Love all the coffee types they serve with its rich aroma, those different types of espresso they provide is a must try. The hot pizzas slices, patisserie, croissants.. etc, are really awesome. Amazing staff, vibes and atmosphere. My favorite spot 👍👍👍

Google
We had a very pleasant time at Panella, eating the famous Roman pizza. A lovely lady took our order, and even though she didn’t speak English we understood each other very well. Se was very sweet. The pizza was delicious! We felt very welcoming. Grazie mille!

Google
We really enjoyed Caffè Panella and ate breakfast here several times on our trip. The pastries and pizza are delicious. Good coffee also. You first order at the counter and pay afterwards, which is a bit confusing at first, but once we figured it out, it worked fine. Nice outside seating area.

Google
Panella is the right choice for breakfast or brunch. The Espresso and Cappuccino are fresh. The maritozzi is to die for: yummy bread with fresh cream; good to go with Espresso.

Google
This Cafe has many choices for your breakfast needs. The ingredients are fresh. The bakery goods are baked on the morning they are served. There is plenty of outdoor covered dining space. The service is friendly and inviting but maybe it was too busy when we were there so perhaps a bit slower than usual. The food is no better anywhere else. This is your coffee and and all in one stop for starting your morning. A terrific place of quality food and atmosphere.

Yelp
Disappointed. Everything looked good so we went back for breakfast after passing by. Inside we waited in line to order but were told to go outside and order since we wanted a table. No signage explained this but ok, non problem, makes sense. Outside we got a table and menus and placed our order. This is tricky if you don't know what they currently have but we took pics at the counter so we knew what to ask for. The pastry was fine. The tea was scolding hot but ok after it cooked. No one was around so we went back inside and waited again to pay. We were told again to pay outside. So we went back outside and waited a few minutes for someone to show up. Another girl was so frustrated she left with her family and did not pay. We waited and paid eventually. €15 for two pastry and one tea. That's it. They up charge €1-€2 per item and do not charge coperto. Average food, way overpriced for table service. And the service wasn't good either. Go elsewhere if you have options or just do take away.

Yelp
Quite a large croissant collection here! They actually had a really big menu of croissants and we just picked the plain one. Hoping for something neutral like the classic croissant from Paris where it's crispy and flaky and buttery... But the croissant was actually sweet! And this is after we got the plain one and not the filled cornettos. Got some of the zucchini fritters and they were beautiful! I believe it was zucchini flower fritters? A little bit oily but such a lovely flavor! They had a really nice focaccia bread as well. Also got some other breads to make sandwiches and everything was nice and fresh.

Yelp
Had the best cappuccino served with zabione, and two days later walked back 5k for another. Baristas and servers were so incredibly friendly and there is a covered patio to sit. Side note, the coffee with zabione and either chocolate or pistachio is VERY VERY SWEET. Such a lovely experience both times we went! Thank you Panella!

Yelp
In fine, servizio simpatico e veloce, tornerò!

Yelp
Service was horrible. We waited for several minutes and no one came to take an order or bring a menu. We finally got up and went inside to place an order at the counter which was absolutely no better. Maybe another day. But I won't go back.

Yelp
Panella The coffees are yummy, but the pastry takes the cake! (Awful pun, I know). They are renown for their breads and create fun and fanciful shapes. Also flavorful small plates.

Yelp
Multa Bene!!! Grazie Mille. Il Migliore. Non delude. Sicuramente andate qui. Molto Romano.

Yelp
We came here every morning for espresso & pastries during our trip. It's super busy and not the most organized. Looked like a lot of locals frequent this pasticceria. They have a huge variety of pastries on display but we were very interested in the dollop of fresh cream and zabaglione (whipped egg yolk with sugar) that everyone seemed to have on their espressos! They seemed to have given it everyone except us...unsure if it was because we were tourists? We eventually asked a kind stranger what it was and if it was an extra charge but it's completely free! Just ask! The addition of zabaglione makes the espresso sooooo rich and creamy. We were completely hooked!

Yelp
First place we ate during our first visit. Great atmosphere and food. Service was great too.

Yelp
PSA: I am reviewing the attached gelato bar (Pane & Gelato) ONLY! If you appreciate "true" gelato you'll fall in love with this Roman creamery. Their Italian gelato is stored properly to preserve its flavor, texture and temperature. The gentleman allowed me to taste test as much as my little heart desired. He was super nice, patient with my English speaking and easy on the eyes. I enjoyed all the flavors but just could not deter from my usual combination of chocolate & pistachio. My small serving was topped with delicate wafers that complimented the gelato perfectly. Pane & Gelato has outdoor seating and a charming walk up window. I didn't want to leave.... Ciao, ~Christy

Yelp
We went there on weekday for a coffee break. There was ample seating outdoor but we prefer indoor no smoking. We had two coffees and two small pastries, only €6! They sell fresh breads and some goods like dry pasta and balsamic oils.
google avatar

Yelp
The pastry and cappuccino were so good and even the most of staffs don't speak English but they have been patient, attentive, and helpful.

Yelp
Having just arrived in Rome we decided to go for a wander around the local area, and I found this nice little place that sold coffee. Okay, being Rome you can understand the style of coffee that they will be serving, and they also have a nice selection of pastries (not that I actually had any of them - just the coffee). It isn't too quiet, but you can sit out the front and enjoy the atmosphere that happens to be Rome, and there aren't too many tourists about either. Well, not quite.

Yelp
Most amazing pastries, espresso caffe, pizzas, lunch, snacks in Rome.. espressos are so good. They have take away foods and picnic fods or even food to take on plane! It will be hard to decide as everything is mouth watering. If you are lucky you woll find this place. If they have the potato pizza bianca you must get! Usually really at 11am. Seriously i went crazy for!!

Yelp
I definitely recommend going and doing self service as many of the others have pointed out. Would be five stars if the table service wasn't so so slow! BEST baked goods in Roma; such high quality it puts every other bakery to shame! The coffee drinks are fantastic. Highly recommend a regular cappuccino, cappuccino del professor, or the shaken iced coffee.

Yelp
Wow what a place! A shop in the heart of Rome which is much more than just a simple bakery! Their "aperitivo" which starts around 6ish is the best "deal" anyone can get! For 12Euros you get an unlimited buffet of freshly prepared food and a drink which are simply delicious or a glass from their great selection of wine. Their Sunday Brunch is also a "bargain" and well worth going, however in both cases for brunch and aperitivo it might be worth to reserve a table since the wait can be at times, especially in the weekend, well over 1 hour! But its totally worth it! In many occasions I've been there, for me the aperitivo was my dinner since you have a lot of food selection and its all delicious! Inside they have also a store that sells the great products they use in their very own preparation, and the prices are modest. Had breakfast also here on a few occasions as well as lunch, especially on a sunny day its amazing to eat in the little square, that is next to the shop (Largo Leopardi), right behind the Colosseum! Definitely worth visiting a place that is almost a century old and its still family run!

Yelp
OMG! Stopped in here as we were passing by one evening in Rome. We practically ordered one of everything & devoured it all within the hour. Everything was divine!
google avatar

Jeff H.

Yelp
Panella is simply amazing. A great atmosphere with outdoor seating that isn't directly next to the busy street. A wide variety of mouth watering pastries and refreshing afternoon drinks. One of the best places to eat in Rome!

Yelp
I'm American and I've always loved the Italian cafes with their beautiful counters where you have coffee with everything so pretty and shiny. I went to Rome, where my longtime friend has been living for 20 years. The first thing he said the day after I arrived is "I want to take you to a place with the shiniest espresso machine." And while we were there he said "I've waited 20 years to bring you here". The had the hugest silver SHINY espresso machine with the most charming barista. It was my first memory of Rome and set the tone for the best trip of my life. Their pastries were the MOST beautiful I have ever seen in my life!! I went back the next day for some pizza. My intimidation of how bad my Italian was got me to order it unheated (because it was faster with less interaction - less embarrassment of my bad Italian) and it would have been better heated - they wanted to heat it up for me. It was good but I should have heated it. Anyway this place will always have a warm place in my heart for the shiny espresso machine that my friend waited 20 years to show me. I will be back when in Rome.

Yelp
We found this place on our first day in Rome, it is a bit off the main road, away from more touristy areas - we found many people speaking Italian while we were there, always a good sign! They offer self service and seated service, we opted for the latter since we were exhausted. I ordered the pasta next and he got the monkfish pasta, and we were bowled over but the taste! Fresh pasta with delicious but not overwhelming flavors!

Yelp
Great selection. Don't take a seat. Walk in, choose your pastries, go to register, order your espresso or cappuccino and pay. Got a little busy on Sunday and locals will try to cut in front of you.
google avatar

Yumi S.

Yelp
We bought an apple cake and some cookies. For the price it wasn't worth it. This pound cake I wanted to try was 35 euros a kilogram. I didn't try it but it seemed to be on the more expensive side. However, it does get busy and it has lovely bread decorations so if you're passing through it might be a good idea to peak through the store.

Yelp
4 stars, a few brief points. Delicious spinach and tomato bread. It comes bagged and in several shapes - flowers, stars, or squares. Their bread likely has very little preservative but is still tasty the next day or so. Huge fan of their tea selection as well! They use Tea Forte (https://www.teaforte.com/) which makes for a beautifully fragrant cup depending on which flavor you choose. Self-service pastries are "point and they bag/plate for you". Then, you shuffle back over to the cash register and hand over Euros. Pear / chocolate puff pastry! Oh and do not forget to browse their walls in the back and sides of the store as they sell a good selection of jarred items, spices, savory items, and dried pastas. I'll be back, I really liked this place and the surrounding area. :)

Yelp
Horrible horrible service, very disappointed. Food was good but the service, I cannot stress how horrible it was. I wanted something sweet, I went inside to get it, they told me to go outside and have it served to me which cost me 2 extra €. I'm very disappointed. They did not explain they just told me to go outside even tho I had the money in my hand ready to pay for it inside.

Yelp
Our tour guide dropped us off here for a quick bite. OMG. Amazing pastries. Amazing. One of the best croissants we had in Italy. We wish that we could have gone back there before we left!!!!
google avatar

Soizick R.

Yelp
AVOID THE PLACE - Biggest deception ever ! Bad food, awful service, expensive for no reason ! Who do they think they are when they treat you as if you were not there ??? Because they do not speak English they're not comfortable ??? Then speak English and be nice to your Customers!!!! See what I got - and cold - for 23,50 EUR!! We're in Roma not in Dubai !! Shame on you !
google avatar

Yelp
This place is amazing!!! I will be visiting Rome for 6 days and will have a meal at this restaurant every day. The selection is vast and the food and coffee is of good quality. As for the service there is a language barrier issue with some of the staff and the so called "roman way" but if you learn a little Italian it will go a long way. I highly suggest coming here to at least let your nose and eyes make a decision for you.
google avatar

Asif K.

Yelp
Great selection of sweet pastries and a very helpful staff. Their pastries with berries are a definite must. The pizza is alright and really not the place for!
google avatar

Nick S.

Yelp
Good food and great bread and pizza, but mostly abysmal service. The whole ordering process is also chaotic, disorganized and not thought out very well - much like Rome is, as I've come to learn this week. Some of the younger people are civil, but the old lady who does the register has got to go. The next time she throws my change at me I might throw it back at her. Try the pastries and baked items. Although pricey they are well made and very good. Just grit your teeth, hand over a wad of cash, and suffer through the 'Roman charm'.
google avatar

Mattia B.

Yelp
I come here quite often, and I'll keep going as long as I haven't tried everything... Twicw! The aperitivo is just the best I've ever been to, and also lunch is a lifetime experience (their Cacio e Pepe is not the usual one!), not to mention all the sweets and cakes. What else?
google avatar

Linh Q.

Yelp
Oh how I love this place!! If it wasn't so expensive it would be a 5 star for sure. I strongly recommend getting the pizza, but pretty much anything we got here was yummy in my tummy. When we walked in, we saw that they had 2 pizzas to select from that day. Both were made in a long strip and you tell them how big of a piece you would like and they cut it to size. You then pay by weight. We also ordered some drinks which cost a bundle. Something like 5 or 6 euros each and I thought they were insane. Then when we sat down, they brought us some crostini and they explained that the crostini goes with the drinks. Then we thought, maybe they're not that insane afterall.... Don't forget to explore the back of the bakery. In the back they have some other jarred food items for sale. We didn't get anything as it really was too expensive but it was fun to browse.
google avatar

Yelp
So many options you can certainly find what your looking for. I went here soecicially bc I was told they had gluten free options which they do but what I didn't realize was that in order for them To make fresh gluten free things for you you like a pizza you have to preorder it but if you just walk in they just offer the Schar brand of everything gluten free like at the farmacia they have a wide selection but I think it's a bit pricier for the gluten free stuff there
google avatar

Michael J.

Yelp
A bit highly rated. Fair selection of pastries. Abut in the pricey side. The woman that retrieved the pastries seemed a bit arrogant but the servers behind the counter and servers outside were very friendly- especially Barbara.

Ty Y.

Yelp
I was pretty disappointed in this place. I ordered a beer, the waiter corrected my pronounciation, and then brought me a cocktail I hadn't ordered. He also told us that they were no longer serving the appetizer deal and then proceeded to provide it to several surrounding tables.

P M.

Yelp
Visited upon a recommendation from a local. The food was ok and I'm sure better than many places nearby for breakfast. However, the staff and service were truly awful. We waited to be seated and were ignored by every member of staff. When we got their attention they were rude and dismissive. After being told there wasn't a table available, a group of people began leaving so we just sat down at theirs. Competent staff know which tables are likely to become free. Waited an age just to get an order, which took forever to arrive and was missing one person's meal. Waited another 7-8 minutes then asked staff about it and finally received an obviously forgotten cold crepe. No apology given. This place is mediocre at best with staff who need to be reminded upon which side of the counter they reside.

Amber S.

Yelp
Its a buffet or a single order. The buffet is the worst i've ever had. It's not really hot and selection is small. Find someplace else that has better food. There are so many options and we are sad we wasted one of our meals here.
google avatar

Chuanmin Y.

Yelp
many kinds to choose, and delicios, also very cheap. and i choose four bread , only 6 euro.
google avatar

Paul O.

Yelp
The best English tea in town. My wife was blown away with the organic pyramid shaped tea that sat perfectly in the lid of the cup. The hot chocolate should be served with cream, drank immediately and re-ordered. (It's made with real chocolate only). The service was a breath of fresh air and we tried our best Italian to compliment this wonderful café.
google avatar

Sam L.

Yelp
We came here twice -- once for lunch and once for a late-night stop -- and had two incredibly different experiences. At lunch, we ordered crepes, arancini and pizza, all of which were pretty mediocre and the service (as others have noted) was not organized or friendly to non-locals. We wouldn't have stopped back except we walked past it again at night on the way to our hotel a couple days later and it was packed with locals. We stopped and got some pastry desserts and a bottle of wine. The food was much better, as was the experience. It's worth stopping by late night or for the buffet, but not worth stopping by for lunch.
google avatar

Katie K.

Yelp
Super friendly and helpful. Let them help you, well, if you are as lost and confused as I am in a foreign country at times. Seriously you can't go wrong with anything you order. We had this wonderful wholegrain bar that's stands out the most. The rice balls are also amazing! A bit pricey but worth it IMHO thus the 4 stars.
google avatar

Jamie H.

Yelp
The food and coffee are great, but just do the self-service option. The outdoor seating is split in half by self-service and full-service. We sat in the full service area and it was awful. The service was so bad. Everything took so long. If I hadn't asked for menus we'd probably still be sitting there. There was only one server and he seemed totally overwhelmed. Whatever system the place is using it's very inefficient. Just do self-service, go inside and look at all the beautiful baked goods.
google avatar

David T.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this place. Breakfast was very good, very traditional Italian. Good service. Good value.

T C.

Yelp
I loved this place! Really great outdoor seating, I had the fried cod balls which were super delicious. Plus it's in a less touristy part of Rome so it feels more like you are part of the city, not in throngs of tourists. I'm so happy someone recommended this place.

Alex M.

Yelp
good quality & nice aura, but HUGELY overpriced. (about 4 times more expensive than usual for the same food in Rome -- not an exaggeration!)
google avatar

Jeannette C.

Yelp
We made reservations for the 10 euro buffet and were very excited about eating at Panella because our host strongly recommended this eatery. We came early and were left at a table and NO ONE acknowledged us for approximately 10 minutes. My husband finally got up to ask what we were supposed to do for the buffet and they said five more minutes and this stretched to another ten minutes. We were on the patio and enjoyed sitting there, but were very hungry after walking to the restaurant. Finally we were told we could go to the buffet and when I started to take a plate, a very nasty server admonished me and ran to the front of the restaurant to confirm we had paid. When we started to choose selections from the buffet, the server who put the food on our plate said we had enough and shooed us away.We had five very small items on our plates.Frankly, I felt as if my hand had been slapped and I was in kindergarten.Very, very rude server. We came back in line and once again, rude server. There is no dessert and a cover charge to sit on the patio. We paid 30 euros, for 2 pops (coca-cola) a few hors d'oeuvres and the ability to sit down cost 10 extra euros. I will never go there again, nor would we recommend this restaurant.

Nima P.

Yelp
Stopped by to grab breakfast before heading to the Coliseum. We got some donut like thing that had a hint of lemon. And a cappuccino. Both were fine and well made. If you're near by and not sure, don't worry you can find a lot worse in Rome. Just hop in and pick something up. I saw a lot of Italians eating here before work.

Michael H.

Yelp
One of the best bakeries I've ever been to. Service was ok, but food was very special, and coffee was great as well.

Apostolis L.

Yelp
Nice place and tasty BUT (1)really expensive for such small pieces (2) mediocre service, nobody smiling
