Honestly Panera is overpriced except for the drink, which is 3 bucks for a medium. I can never justify buying a soup for 8bucks or two BLT sandwiches for 11, but I still do since the atmosphere is nice. It's clean, it's fun because of the drinks, spacious, quiet ish which in all, makes a near perfect work environment. After all, spending money on overpriced food convinces a person to study harder as a way to make up the money-- or maybe it's just my own pessimistic, frugal viewpoints. Another thing, their song selections are amazing. I catch the radio playing the most recent NBHD album Chip Chrome and the Monotones, and it's just a very pleasant surprise. So far I've caught the radio playing Stargazing and Over the Influence on two different visits.
On to the food. I've tried the flatbread pepperoni, chicken soup, Apple salad, chips, BLT and so on and everything is pretty lit but pricey. The flatbread pepperoni is pretty decent but not the best pizza ever. For the same price you can get a full Costco pizza. Chicken soup is salty and pricey so it's definitely not my favorite. The BLT is probably my favorite since it's simple, clean and crisp. I'm not sure if you're suppose to do this but I split the quarter of the pickle in half and put it into the two sandwiches, so it has more of a crunch besides the spring mix. It's pricey for sure for two sandwiches but it is filling and nice. Chips are really crunchy so it's pretty tasty. Drinks are bomb as always so there's nothing really much to share but positivity. I usually make myself an Arnold Palmer or a lemonade iced tea mix before I work and the unlimited refills are always a plus.
Even though it's expensive, it's pretty nice and spacious inside so its really fun and it does not feel like a chore working inside. Paired of with an Arnold Palmer, it's definitely one of the best study spots in North San Jose.
