We went to Pang Pang for my friend's bachelorette party, and we sure went ham on cheesy classics. To be honest, it was hard not to, since their English song selection was getting a bit old - there's nothing from this year, and flipping throught the pages in the dim light is just time-consuming. I wish they had a computerized system to search for artists/songs...
As per usual, most songs had a completely unrelated music video playing in the background, which is always funny. The design of the place is unspeakably gaudy, with extravagant, golden high-relief sculptures of unknown Greco-Roman dudes on the walls. They also name their private rooms as precious stones (we were in the Topaz room). Their sound system (Bose) is fine, yet the mics were not working that well. But since the room is small and private, you can simply sing out loud and there won't be much of a difference.
We had sangria and tequila shots - service was fairly fast and the drinks were fine. After two hours of howling Abba, Bon Jovi and whatnot, we paid and left. It was a lot of fun overall, but next time I'll probably look somewhere else for Asian-style karaoke.
