Panj Tara Indian Kitchen & Bar

We went to this place after seeing decent reviews. But it did not meet our expectations in food, forget services. We started with paneer pepper fry. It was very hard and dry, taste was good. We ordered Chole Bhature. Not good. The bhature served were literally BhatureBread and not Bhature which is an Indian Dish (huge disappointment) The Paneer Dum Biryani was okay. What shocked us the most was the Bill. We added the tip and it was $61.70. They have charged us 9.25% sales and service tax !!!!! We have been to so many restaurants in and around Dallas, we have never been charged sales and service tax. Plus we would have tipped anyway. If the service was that great, we wouldn’t have mind to pay the taxes as well as the tip. Our table was heaped with the dishes after we ate the food, no one bothered to clean them until the last, we had to eat the biryani in the dish we were served Chole Bhature and after starting the biryani, the guy is presenting us with a fresh plate literally holding it next to my Husband’s face. Lol. Any we had to wait good 10 mins after asking for our bill and to go box !

This place was surprisingly good and authentic. I judge a Punjabi spot by its rotis, Chole & Amritsar fish fry, and they did not disappoint in the fish department. Thankfully it was not red or drowsed with some weird marination. The taste of fish, fenugreek and coriander seeds shone through. The mango chicken curry was good, they have plenty of other options as well. We tried stuffed kulcha and roti, both were delicious. They do have a lunch buffet, we didn’t try it. The only downside was a malai kofta that was too salty for our liking.

We had the best experience at panjtara . Every food item we ordered was delicious . My personal fav was seekh kabab . Makki di roti and sarson da saag was so flavourful. Each dish stands out of their own .the atmosphere was pleasant . must try and my new fav restaurant ever . I will definitely love to go again 😍

Good food, lively staff and good setup. Lives up to the name .. Panj Tara (five star). Very good options, to drink and eat. With very vibrant buffet options. Right next to the stadium main entrance. Must enjoy after the game. Option to sit in/out.

I recently visited here and had a truly wonderful experience. I would rate it a solid 9/10. The food was flavorful and comforting, with each dish standing out in its own way. The Paneer Kadhai was absolutely delicious, rich in taste and perfectly spiced, while the Chhole Bhature turned out quite good, with soft bhature and well-cooked chhole. The Gobi Manchurian was one of the highlights of the meal – crispy, flavorful, and just the right amount of tangy and spicy. The Salty Lassi was decent, though not exceptional. I also tried the Makke ki Roti, which tasted authentic and paired really well with the curries, and the Garlic Kulcha was simply perfect – soft, buttery, and full of flavor. Apart from the food, the ambience of the restaurant was warm and inviting, creating a pleasant dining atmosphere. The service was excellent – attentive and prompt without being intrusive. What truly made the experience memorable was the humility and friendliness of the owner, who personally interacted with guests, adding a personal touch that’s rare to find. I was quite disappointed with the overall dining experience at Panj Tara. We ordered Pani Poori, Dahi Poori, Lamb Kebab, Paneer Kulcha, and Lassi Ampanna. Unfortunately, the quality of the food did not meet expectations. The Pani Poori contained unseasoned potato and kala chana with only a hint of salt, while the water was overly sweet with a strong ginger flavor. The Dahi Poori was simply poori topped with sweet yogurt and chutney, lacking balance and depth of flavor. The Lamb Kebab was also under-seasoned, making it quite bland. Additionally, the Paneer Kulcha was extremely dry, without ghee or moisture, making it difficult to eat even half of it. For this meal, we paid over $75 plus tips, which felt excessive given the poor quality and lack of authentic Punjabi flavors. We were also not given a bill which I feel should be given to every customer . Based on this experience, I would not recommend this restaurant.

Decent overall place. Might go back after some time again. Good quality and taste decent overall - I guess I like the deserts and naan quality in comparison to everything on the buffet. There’s nothing really I could complain about the food taste as such but wouldn’t say nothing really felt like I should go back soon. Justifiable based on the price. May be will go soon for the chat as such and try out. The grill stuff could have been better.

We had another great meal at Panj Tara! This time we had gone for their Weekend buffet lunch and since we reached just as they started serving we had the entire area almost to ourselves and the whole dining area was quiet, spic and span. Started off with loading up a plateful of small portions of the different vegetarian options and almost all of them were prepared well. Best liked dishes were the Paneer Tikka Masala and the Kadhi with those lovely Pakodas. The Tandoori Rotis served were hot, hot, light and fluffy and were very tasty while also complementing the main dishes completely. The Peas Pulao were a let down and it was not made fresh but the Plain Basmati Rice was wonderfully fresh and prepared well. I personally did not like the Tandoori Chicken as the pieces seemed have been made earlier and only re-heated and served, The Shrimp Curry was so so and the seafood seemed to have been slightly over cooked. The Chicken Do Pyaza was quite flavorful and the meat had been cooked to perfection - soft, succulent, fall-off the Bone and well marinated into the Do Pyaaza stew. I did also like the fresh sliced onions with the Punjabi house-made Achaar served as an accompaniment, which was wonderful! Finally we also tried the different desserts - the Sheera was ok but we loved the Jalebi and Fruit Custard. All in all a good value for money! We will come back for another round soon!

Wanted to eat Chole Bhature for a long time upon scrolling Yelp we found Panj Tara so glad we tried this place... They were having Lunch Buffet (weekend) but since my craving was for Chole Bhatura we opted to order that along with Dahi Puri - Hollowed semolina puri, stuffed with potato garbanzo mash, yogurt and house-special chutneys. Chole Bhature - Delight in a symphony of flavors with our slow-cooked chickpeas, simmered to perfection in a luxurious tomato-onion gravy served with pickles & onions. Both the dishes were outstanding, Chole Bhature is made authentic Amritsar style we enjoyed every bite... it was delicious. We would like to try their buffet too since majority of the crowd was opting for that... this place is super popular so it gets pretty crowded... can't wait to go back & try their other dishes too... They have plenty parking on the back of the restaurant it's a huge lot...

Definitely 5 stars. Service was great. Waiters were friendly and attentive. Food was excellent. And they also had some tasty looking drinks from the bar. Now, along with Sake Tori, my 2 favorite restaurants are in the little Frisco square. Goat Rogan Josh. Tika Masala. Garlic naan. Mango Lassi. Goat naan. Papad with cumin seeds .

First time and got a chance to try their weekday buffet. They have decent options for 17.99 for adult and 10.99 for kids. The vegetarian and non-vegetarian appetizers were excellent! The naan served at the table was warm and soft. The veg and non-veg curries were fairly standard. Jalebi was a delightful addition to the buffet, and the gulab jamun was delicious. Rupee beer was great. However, the fruit salad/ custard seemed a bit watery

Our server was Asma, who was extremely sweet and attentive. Frisco needed an authentic North Indian restaurant, and this Punjabi restaurant is the real deal! The chole bhature are Delhi style - spicy and delicious. The chicken tikka masala with the butter naan was rich and full of flavor. We were very impressed with the freshness of all the dishes. They truly tasted made to order and were piping hot. Really love the ambiance. It's family friendly and contemporary. It's a bit pricey, but the quality of the food plus great service makes this a must visit. They have lunch buffet every day which we will be back for!

We ordered online from Panj Tara with a discount promo code in The Community newsletter. We asked for extra spicy and they delivered for the most part. The Lamb Roganjosh was flavorful and spicy but the Garlic Naan was tough and difficult to chew.

Food - So fresh and delicious. Love the convenience of a fresh buffet. Lots of chicken dishes. Makes it easy for a non Indian diner to try different items as I don't know all the names of the dishes. Service - Friendly and fast. Shout out to Asma and Yogini for being so friendly and kind on my first visit. Ambiance - Awesome casual and fun vibe with cool artwork on the walls.

This restaurant is the perfect addition to the downtown Frisco area! The interior is beautifully decorated and makes for a perfect dining experience for dates or outings with friends or family. Pride of ownership shows in the cleanliness of the entrance, dining area and restrooms. The staff is very welcoming and friendly, and do their best to make customers feel right at home. The food is some of the best Indian food that I have had in years! Everything I sampled from the buffet was fresh and flavorful! There were ample dishes to enjoy and fresh naan was delivered to the table to prevent it from getting soggy on the bar. I was truly impressed with the quality of the food and with the level of service at this establishment. I had a wonderful dining experience and will undoubtedly return to try out some of the other dishes sometime in the near future.

"The perfect place" for Punjabi food. From the food to service to atmosphere, everything is amazing. I have been here almost 5 times now and I can vouch that the food is great. Great food, service and ambience. The owner takes extra time to ask if everything is alright. A typical punjabi custom which makes it a well loved authentic Punjabi joint. Highly recommended for non veg food

In town for business and my co workers wanted to eat Indian cuisine. I am of East Indian descent and I did not pass up on this. Food was delicious, naan was served warm with melted butter. Curry lamb was my favorite thing on the lunch buffet.

Overall, pretty terrible. It took 10 min for the host to even get our name, mainly because he is being host, cleaning tables, and being behind the bar. It went downhill from there. The buffet selections were dire; there was virtually no chicken in the dishes, the rice tray was always empty, and we had to ask 4x for naan. The buffet was also a mess, with curry everywhere and no one even attempting to keep it clean. Half the staff was wandering around aimlessly, and the left hand didn't know what the right was doing. What's worse, they automatic add a "service charge" despite terrible service. It's clear they are trying to go for a "trendy" vibe instead of focusing on what actually matters. The food I ate was decent, but the overall experience and headache was not worth returning.

Every single thing I tried here was fantastic. We had the weekend buffet and there were so many options, including ones for vegetarian or pescatarian follower. The restaurant is extremely clean and even the buffet never looked messy. The servers seemed a bit short or maybe annoyed but they weren't rude, just not friendly. They're in a great location in Frisco and hopefully will do well. The food here is amazing. We did not order off the regular menu since we wanted to taste test everything, but will if we go back for just dinner instead of the buffet.

Wow, delicious! Stopped in on a Sunday night and ordered goat biryani and aloo matter for takeaway. Shoutout to my man Kendrick at the bar while I grabbed a drink and waited for my food. Cool cat!! Food actually came while I was mid-beer, so I had to finish the glass and bounce. Nice place, recently remodeled and clean. Five out of five stars, would recommend.

Best North Indian food in Frisco. We were there for Sunday brunch. Amazing spread of tasty food, covering both veg and non-veg options, starters and main course. The desert was great. Amazing personalized service. All in all a fantastic experience.

We went to Panj Tara last month around Valentine's Day and I absolutely enjoyed the experience we ordeee the paneer tikka starters and this was absolutely soft and amazing. We also got that malai kofta and the sushi paneer gravy along with amazing garlic naan! Will def come back again but the prices were on r the higher side

Came in for the lunch buffet. The restaurant was clean and quiet early Sunday afternoon. The food was great. Butter chicken, lamb curry, naan etc were all awesome. Glad this place is open in Frisco!

We've lived in 4 different areas of our beautiful USA & we just didn't appreciate the access to all the great cuisines until it's gone. I haven't had great Indian food since my friend moved & took her mom with her. Cooking Indian food is a daunting prospect for me...so many gorgeous fragrant spices...it just has to be complicated, no? Thank you for the many varied dishes. Everything was perfectly cooked & delicious. My husband & I did a little happy dance...& it's close by. Service was attentive & gracious hosts. Tips: *go early or make a reservation bc it will get crowded. Large groups too. A sign of good food is when you see lots of people who grew up on this amazing food going to this restaurant instead of one of the many other offerings. *street parking is limited but there is a large free lot off a side street. *I do not mess with Indian or Thai spice level. Their medium is my 5 alarm & I love spice. You can always add spice later if you have the need.

The choley bhaturey was bad. It was kaala chana with lots of garam masala. Not good. We also had a paneer appetizer which was ok.

Seated quickly, very nice ambience, and the food was very, very good. We had the luncheon buffet, which was plentiful.

True north Indian restaurant in an easy accessible neighborhood. Food was flavorful and fresh. Gol gappes were the best we had anywhere. My kids loved their malai chicken. Owners are cordial and accommodating! Must try for your next dine out.

I ordered dinner for pickup. When I picked up the food, one item was missing. All of the food, worth $200 was in plastic bags, so there was no way for me to check. When I called next morning to provide feedback, the response was so aggravating, that prompted me to write this review. The guy on the phone says, "why didn't you call last night when you noticed an item was missing?" Then he proceeded to "fix" the problem by saying that "you can come to the restaurant to pick up your missing item." This response was after I told him that I live 40 min away from the place, and the dinner party was the previous night. He just didn't want to offer a refund. When I asked for a refund, he said that the lady who took the order, and packed the food, is not at work today, and he will have to check with her before issuing the refund.

We have been here several times and every time we enjoy the food and drinks. The food is always fresh and flavorful. The service is great and the staff is so friendly. The restaurant overall is amazing. We went there yesterday for Mother's Day and even though it was super busy, the quality was food was still amazing. We will keep coming back.

We tried Panj Tara in Frisco, near Toyota Soccer Stadium this evening. Great Punjabi restaurant in Frisco. It was a pleasant surprise. Very welcoming atmosphere. We ordered Hariyali Chicken Kababs, Shahi Paneer, and Palak Paneer. We ordered Butter Naan's and Garlic Naan as well. Food was yummy ! And authentic Punjabi flavors. Maza aa gaya bhai! The Butter Naan's were amazing. Soft and actually tasted good. I will definitely go again. Planning to go for their lunch buffet next time.

Glad we found this place! Food at this Indian place was on par with the best of them and n the McKinney Frisco area. Interior looks great and the staff was very attentive. Some of the best lamb korma I've had.

We opted to have a buffet here and I must say most of the food was sitting there with not many people visiting. The appetizers were dry specially they are best when served hot but they were kinda cold. The food preparation was just OK and it seems same curry/sauce was used for multiple curries that didn't really bring in much flavor to the plate. The goat was cooked separately and not in its own curry since its lacked / missing flavor. They have tried to give it a punjabi touch but the flavors are lacking across the curries / appretizers. Only thing good was samosas and naans served hot.

They were so busy we decided to do a Togo order. Jp was kind and attentive to bring our order to us and wow!! Baigan Bartha had the amazing roast flavor. The kadi pakora were 10 out of 10 and gajar da halwa was delicious. Can't wait to come back !! I really hope this North Indian restaurant can stay consistent with their flavors and we will keep coming back

First time visit tonight, great location, nice atmosphere, all staff were very friendly and the food was great. Lived in the area for 3 years and have struggled to find an Indian restaurant we love but had a great meal tonight and will definitely be back.

We were looking Punjabi restaurant and tried Panj Tara over the weekend. The food and drinks were so good and so the staff! They were friendly and made the food as per our spice level taste. We also got some Indian sweets which were very yummy and taste was like I am eating in India fresh mithai. I would highly recommend anyone to go and try this restaurant. We are planning to go during new year eve with our friends.
