Panlasa - Review - West Loop - Chicago - The Infatuation
"This Filipino-Hawaiian food stall in French Market is a solid option if you live or work in the West Loop, or don’t want to play snack roulette with the Metra cafe car. Panlasa’s small bites are great, like pork lumpia with dipping vinegar or musubi filled with spam or longanisa. But for something heartier, get the combo plate. It comes with two mounds of rice and two equally large servings of tasty furikake BBQ ribs or chicken adobo. And it’s enough food to last for two meals, or one delayed Metra ride." - John Ringor
Lunch at Panlasa was savory and delicious, especially on a cold Chicago day. I love the amalgamation of Filipino + Hawaiian cuisines into a nice friendly menu. I had a savory Pork Adobo bowl, with a side of Filipino Alchara (cole slaw), and Hawian Mac-salad and it was delicious. I had a nice conversation with the owner who proudly told me about their 1.5 years at the French Market (his location), successes at catering events and their plans to hopefully expand. He also told me about some of the home-made spicy vinegars (see photo) for hot-sauce lovers like me :)

We've been in Chicago for a few days and this was surprisingly the best meal we have had so far! Really tasty Hawaiian and Filipino food, the meat was soft and tender. It was very authentic and so delicious that we were really surprised to find this quality of food in a food market!

I decided to visit the place before leaving Chicago. I love the food at Panlasa. The lumpia is my favorite. They also had live music playing when I got there. Enjoyed chilling and vibing while savoring the food.

Roland had me FED! I got the kalua pork bowl, the veggie lumpia, and the longanisa musubi with the Hawaiian Mac salad. I believe he also threw in the kimchi dumpling special for me which was super nice and so good. Get down to the Chicago French Market for real - it’s so important to support the family owned business here and enjoy amazing food.

Ordered some lunch online to try out Panlasa and it was so incredible! Fantastic portions, lumpia, both adobos, Huli Huli chicken, and kalua pork, mac salad were all so good. Can’t wait to come back and try the Longanisa.

Soooooo delicious and flavorful. I had the chicken adobo and it was so good. The lumpia is a nice size and packed with filling. I especially loved the arroz caldo. My only grievance is I wish they sold a bigger size of it!

I went with a group and we shared everything. It was so good! Loved all the pork and chicken dishes. Pork adobo might be my fave though. Loved the spam musubi!

Honestly wasn’t expecting a lot since it’s just a small place in French Court with limited options. But we tried 3 dishes, and sides. LOVE ALL OF THEM! It satisfied my cravings during the time. Had two cups of rice. Pork Adobo, Lumpia is my favorite and Longganisa. I’d come back if I’m in the area.

Yelp
Had lunch here today. Very tasty. I got a bowl of the pork adobo, which was exquisite. I didnt know what side to get so I asked, and got Filipino atchara. Never had it before and it was the perfect accompaniment. Will be back to try to lumpia next time.

Yelp
Good mix of Hawaiian and Filipino food conveniently located in the French Market. I like the spam musubi but am a huge fan of the kalua pork.
