I'm from Ft Worth but I haven't lived here in ages. But I'd seen this brewery on a previous trip to town and wanted very much to visit, hang out and enjoy some great beer and then maybe take some with me.
However, last time I was in town, I had to leave before the weekend and they're only open on Friday night and Sunday. So, I made sure to be in town for a weekend on my latest trip. My son-in-law is a great beer aficionado and very smart knowledgable about all things beer. So, I was excited to take him to Panther Island for a visit to find out about great Texas folks and local beer.
The place looks great. There's plenty of parking and the guy on the golf cart is super friendly and that's such a great service. There are plenty of places to sit or lean on a tall table to enjoy the beers. Sadly, the chairs and couches I sat on were pretty low and/or wobbly and the tall table was in serious need of a shim as it kept rocking back and forth.
Listen, all that is not so bad. I mean, come on, its a brewery. The reason I am only giving 3 stars is mostly due to the snarly assed bartender (owner?) at the bar. We were trying to make conversation (it wasn't busy at the time) and asked about the weird hours. He snapped at us that he's busy making beer most of the time and only takes a break twice a week to open the brewery for tasting. You know, there's a way to explain that without all the damn attitude.
As for the beer, it is good. The atmosphere (other than the jerk at the bar) was pretty good, but not exceptional. I really enjoy visiting breweries, but I doubt I'll go back to this one. There's plenty of other places I'd rather go where they understand being decent to the customers.
