Paolo Fontanot Bakery & Cafe - Review - Edgewater - Miami - The Infatuation

"Paolo Fontanot is an Italian bakery and cafe inside a residential building in Edgewater. It works great for a quiet lunch or getting some work done. They’ve got all the stuff you could want to nibble on while toiling away at a spreadsheet: solid paninis, salads, croissants, cookies, and stuffed focaccia. The layout is great for solo diners too. Downstairs, there’s seating close to power outlets. Upstairs, there are small tables with enough room to install your own pop-up office or read a book over espresso and a cannoli." - Ryan Pfeffer

This Bakery is a cozy, stylish spot in Miami that nails both flavor and atmosphere. It was my first time eating here, but it won't be my last! The caramel frappe was smooth and perfectly balanced—not overly sweet—and paired beautifully with their croissant, which was flaky, fresh, and delicious. The menu offers a great mix of sweet and savory options, from breakfast sandwiches to elegant pastries. The café has a relaxed, modern vibe with plenty of natural light. The staff is friendly and attentive. A perfect spot to get some work done, a quick treat, or a slow morning.

What a great selection of quality breads and pastries. The workers are super helpful and explained all the dishes I had questions about. We came for breakfast after a run and I'm so happy we chose to come here. Everything was fresh and delicious.

I love coming to this bakery in Edgewater, it’s right near the water so you can always take a quick walk after you leave if you’d like. I come here for brunch as well as lunch. Their coffee is really good as well as their pastries. I always have to get either the almond croissant or pistachio croissant. The avocado toast is also very light and tasty. This is a great place to work from your laptop or have a quick meet up with friends The service is always very good at this place, they’re very attentive and friendly. I think that’s really hard to find in some places in Miami. I definitely recommend this place.

Was very impressed by the food options at Paolofontanot. Me and my family were visiting Miami and stumbled upon this cafe. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. We had the croissants which were so flaky and delicious. We even tried the avocado toast which was so fresh. We loved the food so much we visited the cafe twice on our vacation. What truly sets apart, however, is the impeccable service provided by the staff- namely Cladia and Stefan. Really kind and sweet, they made us feel like home and even offered free cookies for us to try out! Would definitely recommend this place!

Google
This was a random find and we stop to get coffee. The servers Julia and Sydney were super friendly and the desserts were delicious! They asked me to be super honest with my review, so I think the only thing I would improve is the coffee: I ordered a cappuccino and it was a little too watery for me, but honestly other than that, it was great 🫶

Delicious!! First morning waking up in MIA, and finding out such an outstanding bakery-coffee store is a really good happy beginning. The pastry was super light fresh crispy as it should be (were last week in “Maman” NYC, and its pumpkin cube was soggy 🥲). The coffee is creamy with a nice foam…and the service mega warm 🥰. Thank you very much Belén and Lorena for your patience and kindness.

We were staying at a nearby hotel and asked the Front Desk Agent if there were any breakfast places she recommended. She mentioned Paolo Fonatanot without even hesitating so we walked over and as soon as we walked in, we knew we were in for a treat. The café is simply BEAUTIFUL and there is plenty of seating. I had a mocha latte which was pretty good and a delicious Nutella croissant. I also tried the Capresse sandwich and liked it. Service was also great and special shoutout to Sydney and Lorena who were very attentive and kind. I would definitely come back!

Great place ! Cool location My coffee was made perfectly and by kind and efficient people, I’ll be back. It was so good I had two cups. Both Julia and Sidney were awesome and smiling professionals!

Yelp
- Huge fan of their special croissants - I also like their chocolate ones - Located on the second floor but they have an elevator for those who need assistance - I came in later in the day on time and they offered 50% off the leftover bread they had that day - Lots of seating space - Usually some folks work on their laptops from the first floor

Yelp
This bakery in Buena Vista is an absolute delight. It's been around for a while, and every visit has been a pleasure. The staff is super friendly, and the place is always clean and inviting. The ambiance is light and laid-back with tasteful decor, and the bathrooms are spotless. They serve excellent coffee, and their pastries are top-notch. If you're looking for a quick bite or a delicious sandwich, this is definitely the place to stop.

Yelp
This place was so cute! I went there to lock in with some studying and it was the perfect environment to do so. It was beautifully decorated in Christmas decoration from the door all the way to the register. The staff were all so nice and the place itself was super clean. The coffee shop is two stories and has good lighting. I sat on the bottom floor and it was a perfect area for some studying. I got a vanilla latte which was good and the avocado toast with eggs. They had a bunch of yummy looking pastries to choose from and I regret not getting anything. Will definitely be returning for a sweet treat soon!

Yelp
Paolo in Edgewater, Miami, is a cozy spot that's all about great food and good vibes. Their pizzas are fantastic--crispy crust and full of flavor--and the croissants are buttery and fresh, perfect with a cup of their smooth, rich coffee. The service is friendly and laid-back, making it a great place to relax and enjoy. Definitely a go-to for a casual, tasty meal.

Yelp
What a cute little gem tucked away in Omni! I live right nearby and I think I've found my new go-to study spot! It's perfect for studying or a work from home day, with such a pretty ambiance. I came with my brother on his birthday and the cashier overheard me talking to him about his birthday and brought him a little donut with a candle- how cute! I also ordered some hot tea which was a delicious study drink. I can't wait to come back on my next study day!

Yelp
Great fresh baked goods and great latte. Nicer service than most of Miami. My only complaint is that the hot pastry I ordered was very cold in the middle. So next time I'll tell them that 'hot' means 'hot' -- not 'sightly warm'

Yelp
Nice coffee shop in Edgewater, perfect for remote working with accesible outlets, coffee breaks & delicious baked goods. Enjoyed a pistachio croissant & a cortadito.

Yelp
Initially went here for a Too Good to Go package and have been going back ever since. I'm obsessed with the cracker bread. Fresh, delicious and house made pastries. Breads are so good. Staff is so friendly and knowledgeable about the ingredients and products. Great location. Very clean. Close to a really nice park. They also have some outside seating.

Yelp
Dayana and Nahir are amazing!!!! Every time I come in they are always working really hard!

Yelp
Such a nice breakfast spot! The view from the inside of the place is very pretty and the service is good. They have an array of a lot of different options, and it would be hard to find something that doesn't catch your eye! The coffee and the food were tasty and fresh! 10/10

Yelp
One of my absolute favorite places for desserts, a good coffee or a quick sandwich. Located in downtown by the Aria building, so only street parking. It has a small downstairs area with just desks with usb ports and electricity outlets. Upstairs is all window walls with some tables and the ordering area. The ambiance is very casual and perfect for a small lunch or to come get some work done. My favorite sandwich is the brie and speck that comes with arugula and is incredible. They home made all their bread in house so it's truly always something so fresh. I've also gotten these mini focaccia that come with tomato's and wow, always fresh and delicious. They also sell salads, pizza and charcuterie spreads. Their dessert though.... truly out of this world. they have one named "red passion" and it's a little red heart with passion fruit moose on the inside. TO DIE FOR. Another favorite is one that is green on the outside and has a chocolate moose with some pistachio filling as well. It is so creamy and not over bearing at all. They also sell some of their small desserts bigger for a birthday, special occasion, or if you simply cannot get enough! The service is always nice as the servers are always very sweet and able to answer any questions. All in all one of my favorite places for some dessert. I simply cannot wait to go and indulge again!

Yelp
Really a Zero. Food was horrible. Ordered my food to go. When I reached my destination to eat my food, it was completely different from the description. I had to get lunch somewhere else, and when I returned my order untouched for a refund, the manager gave me attitude and a hard time to get my refund. They have horrible customer service and a horrible attitude.

Marcus R.

Yelp
Pizza is very bad. I was not satisfied with it at all. I ordered a margarita pizza. It tasted like cheese sticks from pizza hut. Don't recommend getting pizza from here. Aesthetic is nice inside though.

Yelp
Amazing baked goods and coffee. Super fresh and yummy... Sydney and Anna were super nice and helpful and helped pick out all the best items. Great neighborhood spot!!

Yelp
I've come here a handful of times throughout the summer and look forward to the bright atmosphere it brings. There is an upstairs and downstairs seating area for workers, couples, and families (often with young kids and/or dogs, and without being loud adds to the liveliness). The pizza is homemade with a light and fluffy dough. There are lighter baked goods like cream-filled croissants and heavier goods like tarts and eclairs. I've tried a modest selection and liked everything I had. The coffee is well made. After 7:00 pm all the breads and croissants are 50% off, enticing all late coffee drinkers to grab a snack before heading home! Recently the music was a little more loud than preferred but overall it's always a pleasant visit.

Yelp
After reading some reviews, I thought I really had to visit this Italian Bakery. I waited for my Italian friend to come to town so I could take her with me. I have to say we were both disappointed. It was not what I expected. Coffee was very good. Stars are for the coffee and the cleanliness of the establishment. The display was organized and clean. I give them that, but the food was just average. Focaccia was average, croissants were just OK. They mainly had ham and cheese items, nothing very Italian. Swiss cheese was almost in everything they made that day. I don't think Italians are big on Swiss cheese or at least that the ones I know. I was expecting to get more traditional Italian items, like mozzarella, mortadella, sopressata, etc. The sandwiches looked weak because they were missing ingredients. The one we ate hardly had any speck. I was happy to see at least speck in a sandwich, but it was also disappointing. In my opinion, the dough also lacked flavor. My friend agreed with me and she is an Italian baker. When it comes to service, the staff was just OK. They are there to take your order. Nothing very Italian about that. Hospitality is not a forte here. Needless to say, I was not impressed. I can find tastier Italian treats and service in Miami. Nowadays, there are many authentic Italian places opening up in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Mauro R.

Yelp
I planned to come here for some time, but it was a bit disappointing. I was expecting something more similar to the bakeries Fontanot has in Italy, but it was far from that. They have a few pastries, some sandwiches that however for most part are not particularly "Italian" and you can find in other places; service was okay but somehow the place looked empty, and I don't mean of people, but of food options. Prices are Miami-downtown prices but without any special reason to repeat the experience. I was definitely expecting more Italian salumi, but there was, little, except for a prosciutto that wasn't among the best I had. Honestly if you don't know prior to visiting, you wouldn't know it's an Italian bakery. Again, maybe I was expecting more because I know their bakeries in Italy, but this seemed a very toned down version of them.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this coffee shop as I was walking my dog. I told myself I had to come back to check it out! Came around 7 p.m. and it was such a calm atmosphere. After 7 all breads and pastries are 50% off! The place makes you feel like you're in Europe. The coffee was amazing and it really felt like a community. Sidney, our barista was truly so kind, compassionate, and you can tell he loves what he does and the people he meets. I know this will be new go to coffee shop out here in Miami.

Yelp
It's a small, simply decorated Italian bakery located just a few blocks north of the Adrienne Arsht Theater, and adjacent to the Margaret Pace Park: a great place for a stroll by the sea. Parking however, is difficult to find. The owner comes from the same Italian city where I grew up: they have great bakeries all over the city, therefore I was really excited when I heard that they were opening a bakery in Miami too, and I was looking forward to try them. As soon as you come in (on the 2nd floor) you see a big display full of desserts, panini and pizzas. Everything you see there is homemade, and they also have a very small selection of wine and beers. We were here for lunch: I ordered a "ham and cheese crostino" while my husband had a panino with tomato, mozzarella and arugula. Unfortunately my expectations were probably too high: the food is just ok and too expensive for its quality. I was also surprised not to see a wider variety of Italian pastries (also expensive). On a positive note, all baked stuff is sold at 1/2 price after 7pm. The staff is friendly, but I don't know if I'll be back, considering that I've had better experiences in other Italian bakeries in Miami, which happen to be cheaper as well.

Yelp
I have been here twice, and it is a lovely place with great customer service. I was thoroughly impressed with the drive of the staff that serviced me as they were kind, informative, and assertive! They made sure to let everyone know about 50% off during the last hour of the store, and even talked leisurely with the customers during down time Pros: *great selection of goods *friendly and helpful staff *relaxing atmosphere *lots of sitting space upstairs and downstairs Cons: *ordered a dirty chai, which had great espresso shots, but the chai wasn't noticeable. *lots of sun exposure (I'm easily sunburned) *pastries can sit out for a while in the sun, which could potentially be a safety hazard for dairy and meats, without any visible cooling systems for pastry case (such as tinted glass or AC)

Yelp
Sidney and Daniela were amazing!! The service was above and beyond and the food was delicious.

Yelp
Came here on Saturday morning because i was so curios to see it. Nice amenities, great pasty display and yummy stuffs. Coffe was very good.. packed on a Saturday morning. Italian but I didn't feel Italian vibes inside. The only negative things about this place. Fresh juices and very good croissants for your breakfast/ lunch.
google avatar

Alma M.

Yelp
Loved the location and the indoor is so cute! I enjoyed an Pat milk latte, but a little pricey for a very small mug but I enjoyed it regardless. The service was great and I'll most likely return to try the almond croissant that was sold out that morning :( Heard they were really good!

Ciro A.

Yelp
Amazing bread and pastries. The baker is Italian and he does an incredible job. Don't miss it

Yelp
Such a wonder bakery!! The baked goods are beautiful and delish and service by Julia and Sidney is a delight!! I recommend a visit to this bakery!

Yelp
Beautiful Bakery yet TOO pricey ! Great quality and everything looks beautiful and trendy. My Cannolo was 6$ I bought two Cannoli plus two almond croissants at $4.45. It's very cute and great looking people come here but I just paid almos 30$ on a few treats.

Carlos M.

Yelp
I've been coming to this bakery since it opened. The coffee, desserts and service are very good. Today Giulia and Sidney waited on me, great people as well as baristas

Cira V.

Yelp
Super delicious , very clean !!!' the staff is very attentive , my son is always there wanted for me to try I came from Aventura to go to church with him and took me for breakfast Very very nice

Yelp
Such a lovely space with bright sunlight and good seating options (long tables, small rounds). The berry tart was fresh and melted in the mouth. Seriously I kept thinking about it for the rest of the day. The baked breads were light and fluffy, the salmon and capers with mascarpone was bright and filling. I can't wait to visit their bakery cases for more treats. This is seriously quality ingredients and precise baking. If you are missing the taste of a good cafe because you haven't yet been able to return to Europe, this will hit the spot.
google avatar

Fernanda S.

Yelp
I've been many times at this place and one of my biggest concerns is still their staff (specifically their cashier) so rude. Omg! It seems like he is doing us a favor. Today he took his time organising their display with (donuts) and then took our order. Like we were not there! Never saw a smile in his face, always with his grumpy face. In my opinion, to be a server can be challenging, you need charisma, patience and the most important being prepared for any scenario that comes your way. Customers are different and require different things too. For this place to be well reviewed they need to put extra attention in these details (you can see in other reviews the same claim). Anyhow it's a beautiful spot , display is always full , they have specials menu and happy hour. Pet friendly :) Public parking around!!!
google avatar

Marina C.

Yelp
I used to be a regular customer but quality has been declining by the week. Got serious food poisoning after eating their salmon crostini, called same day to speak with a manager, NEVER heard back (onsite staff was very nice but did not speak English). Today I bought macarons that were exposed as fresh. They were old, hard, crumbling, filled with cheap jam. Forget about the old Paolo, prices are still premium but quality is gone!! Turn the corner and go to Pinocchio on the Bay. More crowded but way better!

Yelp
Came here about a couple of weeks ago. I didn't know that they actually have a location in America. This cute bakery is located right behind Aria on the Bay luxury condos by Margaret Park. They don't have a lot of seating outside but plenty of tables inside. Ordering is simple. You just go up to the counter and select from the display or chalkboard menu, then they bring the food to the table. Besides the fresh-made baked goods, they also offer croissants, crostinis, sandwiches, salads, pizzas, and even meat boards. And of course, some of the most beautiful desserts I've seen. I was with 3 other people so we just ordered a bunch of stuff to share. We got a couple of croissant sandwiches which were very fresh. Also added a Caesar salad which was pretty decent. We also shared the mushroom and vegan focaccia but we thought the bread was just too much. It definitely needed more toppings cause the bread was very thick. Our favorites were the desserts especially the one the shaped LOVE. It was something I've never tasted before. It wasn't too sweet but just right and soft too. I wish I remember the name :) This bakery is definitely worth checking out. Great for breakfast or lunch while working or studying. I didn't try their coffee but my friends did and they said it was good as well. Will be back if I'm in the area.

Yelp
Cute Italian bakery and cafe located near Biscayne. You will be wowed by the dessert display for sure. They have unique desserts, the pretriest one is the LOVE green one. I tried the Italian Beer which is a must, Birria but they also have coffee, fresh juice and wines. Paolo offers salads, sandwiches, croissants and other yummy cafe style meals. My ceasar salad was good and everyone in my oarty enjoyed their sandwiches. **pay to park street parking only

Yelp
Are you craving a fresh baked pastry, pizza or perhaps a delicious gourmet dessert? Come to Fontana! They are a fairly new gourmet italian bakery located in Edgewater, just a few steps from the beautiful Margaret pace park. You can totally walk there and have a picnic while enjoying the fresh breeze and view from the bay :) They have everything from breakfast to dinner and of course, a nice selection of different wines. I cannot believe I live upstairs and it took me this long to try this spot. I've been here twice and loved it each time. The bakery is absolutely beautiful, they have two floors. Recently, I needed a spot to work with WiFi and of course an energy boost so I decided to finally check out Fontana. I had the iced vanilla latte and an egg, ham & cheese croissant. It was delicious. The croissant was warm and flaky and matched perfectly with the egg, ham and cheese. There's so many more items I must try such as their focaccia, pizza, fresh baked pastries and gourmet desserts. I will definitely be back! PS: if you live in the building, just let them know and you'll receive an discount.

Yelp
I really loved the Paolo Fontanot Cafe! Excellent service from Julia and Lorena. Drinks and food were very yummy!

Yelp
Lovely coffee shop with a great selection of pastries and food. The customer service was excellent!

Yelp
Stopped here on a whim after walking my cousin's dog in the park around the corner and while the interior is really impressive and posh, I didn't think the quality of the food matched the decor. I thought the coffee was mediocre and the pizza slice that I got was hard and not very tasty. I also had to ask the person at the counter if they could warm up the pizza because they gave it to me cold.. idk if it's meant to be eaten cold but I thought that was weird.
google avatar

Catalina M.

Yelp
Loved this place! We are just visiting some friends and we've already been here twice for breakfast and one time in the afternoon for sweets! The egg white sandwich is sooooooo good!!! That bread that it was on is just fantastic. Super tasty. Careful because the tomato and spinach get hot. The ham, cheese and egg sandwich and the avocado crostini (toast) are also really good! I feel your safe with any breakfast choice. The tiramisu was good not great. The cannoli was good. We were a bit disappointed on the sweets. Their presentation is fantastic but they weren't as good as the breakfast items. Cappuccino is good! Staff is friendly.

Yelp
Do you want to break your tooth eating pizza? There is your chance. Go to Paola Fontano and order their stale, rock hard pizza. Go home and try it. Taste zero, flavor zero. Avoid like a plague and save your pesos. Seriously

Yelp
So this is one of my favorite bakery ! been a customer since they opened .. everything is really good . however , the guy cashier/ server is not the nicest person. He has attitude .After ordering 2 croissants , and a ham and cheese croissant. After paying I asked for butter and he told me there was an added cost for it .. I found it off .. just thought butter would be a part of something you give your clients to eat with there croissants or even jam .. when I questioned him he rudely said .. we don't give anything for FREE here ! Its 50 cents . Ownership -, I know you .. is this correct ! I don't care about the 50 cents it's more about the attitude.

Yelp
My fiancé and I love this bakery! Located a short stroll from Margaret pace park, this quaint bakery/cafe is the perfect place to pick up a morning latte and croissant and head over to the park to take in the water views. Also an amazing spot to relax as the decor is stunning and Italian inspired. My favourite time to go is in the morning for breakfast or on Thursday evenings for happy hour when they have free baked goods and snacks! The service is always excellent and the staff are friendly. Once on a Thursday they has a sommelier there and they helped me select my wine - they did a fabulous job with their recommendation! You can have a coffee date here, or bring a lap top and get some work done, or come on an evening after work for a drink. This is a versatile spot that can appeal to a broad range or people. Fair warning - it is expensive, however the quality is solid.

Yelp
When I walked in I didn't get the hype but, the 6 pastries I bought convinced me. Beyond delicious!

Yelp
Very good bakery. We enjoyed their Italian sandwiches much. Quality of food here is excellent. A bit pricy but worth it. Staff were friendly and efficient.

Yelp
Of 5 bakeries that I have visited in 2 days in Miami, this one is the best at least for the ambience and comfort. The server was kind enough to take my request to just prepare Pineapple smoothie, while the menu listed mango and pineapple smoothie. I didn't have any food, but a lady sitting next to me was appreciating the chocolate croissant. The food did look appetising. It's for sure a good place to work too.

Yelp
Great ambiance, fresh food and very welcoming service. Perfect to meet a friend or have a business meeting. Highly recommended!

Yelp
This is honestly the best bakery I've ever been to! I'm from Brazil and since I moved to the States I had been trying to find a cool spot for coffee and lunch, and this was amazing. The place is also very charming and cozy. I even took some nice photos over there
google avatar

Anya T.

Yelp
Adorable place, but food is just okayish. So good things first - desserts are to die for! I love them all, although it feels like they are overpriced. For the same money on same quality restaurants portions are way more generous. It's also a dog friendly place with nice decor. Now not so good - food and coffee. Although coffee is drinkable, but that's not what you want to accompany to nice eclair or tiramisu. Food is a straight up no! Tasteless, dough is like paper.
