"Open for: Dinner Price range: $$ Following almost 150 years of Dutch colonization of Indonesia, the Netherlands is dotted with Indonesian takeaways, many serving recipes sweetened and de-spiced for cautious taste buds. Mixed in among some fairly uninspiring places, there are gems like Paon Bali, which serves up affordable (though inflexible) set meals. There’s only one plate on offer each day, consisting of a big scoop of rice surrounded by eight to 10 little portions of various meat and vegetable dishes and sambals. Bali is a historically Hindu island, so the cuisine includes more pork than elsewhere in Indonesia; the babi guling (traditional roast pork) here is excellent, as is the babi kecap (pork in sweet Indonesian soy sauce). Know before you go: The restaurant only takes walk-ins for dining in, and there is often a vegetarian option available (though check the week’s on the website)." - Katharine Khamhaengwong

As a Balinese travelling to Amsterdam, I found this place is really authentic. Just remind me of home. The owner is very welcome and friendly. The food is great! I believe Balinese, Indonesian, or Western would enjoy the food easily. Would definitely pay another visit if I go to Amsterdam again. Recommended!

Authentic Balinese style rice in the Netherlands. They only serve one menu every day and will have different menu each day so make sure you check them before coming. Service was very nice, and you really feel the Balinese touch all over the restaurant. Higly recommended!

All the food here is delicious and authentic. But this restaurant only opens from Wednesday until Sunday. There is no seat reservation, you can just come and order.

Probably one of the best Indonesian restaurant in Netherlands, this one specializes in Balinese nasi campur. The minute you walk in you are greeted with that base gede spices scent in the air. They change their menu for each opening day but my favorite is their nasi ayam and nasi languan. They do tone down the chili heat but you can always ask Ibu for more sambal.

Very friendly and super tasty. I really did think it was worth taking a train and bus from Schiedam for this food my partner said it was one the most authentic Balinese food he had in Europe.

Authentic Balinese Food in Amsterdam (I'm Balinese, you can count on me 😄). Once you're there, you can see very long queues because people usually do the take away. They only sell particular menu each day so you need to check their social media every week to know what you will get. I love their babi guling! It feels like home ♥️
