The 38 Best Restaurants in Markham, Ontario | Eater

"It’s all about the snacks at this humble little eatery in the northeastern reaches of Markham. Papa Chang’s showcases the range of Taiwanese cookery with a menu of such classics as chile popcorn chicken, Taiwanese sausage, and braised minced pork over rice with soy-marinated egg and pickled mustard greens. There are items that fall into the Japanese-Taiwanese category, including takoyaki and the okonomiyaki-like Japanese tako pancake with squid. Bento boxes are popular during lunchtime, but if you’re grabbing takeout, get the fish skewers with teriyaki, wasabi, mayo, and shredded fish. [$]" - Faiyaz Kara

The braised pork rice and pork chop rice were both incredibly tasty, and the Taiwanese ba-wan was also delicious with great flavor. Since the dishes are mostly pre-prepared, service is very fast — making it a convenient option for takeout. However, the prices seem to have increased quite a bit compared to before. While it’s still acceptable, the value for money isn’t as strong as it used to be, especially for a bento-style meal. Overall, it’s still a solid choice if you’re looking for quick and tasty Taiwanese food.

Google
Been to Papa Chang’s to eats many times when living in Markham and still drive back to do take-out once in a while. Small place and quick services and the staffs are very nice. Foods are the best. My kids love the Popcorn chicken bento/combo, I love their traditional beef noodles. The price is reasonable and portions are big. Thank you Papa Chang for the good foods!!

Google
Papa Chang’s is our go-to for cheap taiwanese eats! The restaurant is cozy and the food is quite good. They have upped the prices a little bit which have been reflected on their new menus. Give this place a try and get 5% off when you pay by cash :)

Came here to get a quick bite and definitely enjoyed the food. Price is cheaper than going to McDonald’s and the waitress was nice. Definitely coming back to try the rest of the menu

Google
This place is a little restaurant. It is simple, neat, and clean. They serve Taiwanese style meals that are pre-made, very similar to fast food restaurant. The meals that came to us were delicious, but it is just warm but not hot, so this is the reason a four stars rating is given instead of five. The service here is very quick, and everything on the menu is at a very reasonable price. If you are looking for a sjmple and delicious meal, then this is the place for you.

Google
I was very disappointed with my recent order. I ordered a specific dish, but when I got home, I realized it was completely different from what I asked for. It's frustrating to pay for something and not get what you ordered. Please double-check orders before handing them out — mistakes like this really affect the customer experience.

Shannon

Google
The rice was super mushy and the chicken was not at all crispy or flavourful. Maybe they were just having an off day but we’re not too eager to go back and find out.

Tracy Zhao

Google
Very mellow place to just chill and have some home style food. The place itself has such a nostalgic atmosphere that you can't replicate. Had to order the popcorn chicken twice cause it was just so good :D

Yelp
Papa Chang is a small restaurant stowed away in a small plaza on 16th ave. They have Taiwanese food with a focus on quick and authentic. Service and food came quick. This place a definitely a go to satisfy your Taiwanese food cravings. Popcorn chicken - Really good and really authentic popcorn chicken. The dish came quick, but also came piping hot! The chicken was also really well seasoned. Would recommend! Beef noodle soup - Really good flavour in the noodle soup! good amount of soysauce, vinegar and beef flavour. Also relatively cheap and a decent portion of noodles as well. Would recommend!

Yelp
Great place for a quick bite of Taiwanese flavors. We ordered a few snacks, beef noodle, and the recommended sesame flat bread that is delicious! Service is friendly and food comes out fast. Consider it a neighborhood fast food place with tasty bites, good value and quantity.

Yelp
Papa Chang's on 16th Avenue in Markham is a long-running established Taiwanese street food restaurant. Delicious tasty food. Attentive and fast service. Excellent value. Cheery fast-paced ambiance. Inside the small restaurant it can get crowded pretty fast, my tip is to place your order for takeout or on SkipTheDishes to avoid a wait. R02 - Taiwanese Sausage and Minced Pork on Rice with an soy egg - filling and nourishing. A14 - Taiwanese Style Meatball - texture was good. A03 - Deep Fried Fish Cake* - flavourful and sweet.

Yelp
Simple, no frills Taiwanese food. From there minced meat on rice to the popcorn chicken, everything here is a win. It's a great take out option, and usually ready in a few minutes. The flavour is as authentic as it gets, and don't expect five star service for sit down. Note: the seating area is not too large to big groups will have a hard time getting seated.

Yelp
I used to come here every week in high school! A great place for some affordable Taiwanese food. It is a smaller restaurant but can seat quite a few people. Be aware that there is a charge for using the card machine (better to bring cash)! The classic Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken is a must-try. Great flavour, and the chicken is nice and juicy. I'm also a fan of their Salted Squid Balls, Fried Fish Cake, Bentos, and Minced Pork on Rice (with egg and Taiwanese sausage). Also, if you have never tried intestine before, the Crispy Intestine will change your life! The best intestines I've ever had to date. The other dishes like some of the soups are just alright in my opinion, but their snacks are all pretty safe choices. I will say they have become more expensive, charging for the sauce that comes with the Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken for take-out, which used to be included for free. I will still be coming here when my craving for popcorn chicken kicks in though!

Yelp
I came here for dinner once and really enjoy their food, it was decently price and good at the same time. Service was also really fast even tho they were busy. It was overall A good experience. I came back to get a party tray recently and for the amount of variety it was definitely not too expensive. The food was good too! I would definitely be back again!

Yelp
It's a tiny Taiwanese resto at Markham Road and 16th Ave. BBQ chicken sesame flat bread: Chicken was cooked nicely. Flatbread could've been lighter (it was quite dense) but the accompanying bbq sauce was tangy and moreish. Chicken skewers: My friend liked these because of the wasabi mayo they threw on top. Ironically, his gf disliked them for the exact reason. I thought they could've used a bit more seasoning on the actual meat underneath the batter. Chicken cutlet curry on rice: I'm not sure if this was an attempt at japanese curry or not but it was very fusiony and wasn't a fan of the random frozen veggies on top of the bowl. The curry itself was not bad but the chicken could've been more moist. Pork cutlet curry on rice: Same comment on the veggies as above. The pork was a lil more tender than the chicken. Curry w/ beef on rice: Didn't actually get to try this, but my friend who ordered it said it was a hard pass lol. Pork cutlet bento: Cute lil bento order that comes w/ 3 sides (one of them being veggies). The portion size is quite small and I would worry for you if you've got a big appetite. Meat floss pancake: A pretty iconic staple when it comes to Taiwanese snacks. This was a decent one. Wouldn't order again though. Popcorn chicken bento: Between this and the regular side order of popcorn chicken, I think the popcorn chicken side order is WAY more worth it. You get more chicken and you'll prolly get more full too. They are also priced similarly. Popcorn chicken: Another iconic Taiwanese snack. This was a pretty good popcorn chicken. Nice big portion and the sauce that came w/ it was tangy. Signature beef noodle soup: I thought the soup was on the sweeter side (which was interesting). Usually I'm used to more savoury soups for beef noodle. There was a generous amount of pickled mustard greens which was nice. They used beef chunks instead of beef slices which was proper. The tendon was really tender but I wish they would've given me more beef instead of tendons (I wonder if they'd be willing to do this as a request). The noodles were firm and chewy. I don't think they make their noodles in-house but they were good noodles. Very decent Taiwanese spot! The popcorn chicken is prolly the most worth it dish here. They also have party trays which I might explore in the future.

Yelp
A hole in a wall joint serving Taiwanese street food. Popcorn chicken, noodle, pancake, ground beef are all ready to satisfy your hunger. Good taste and good quality as well. Just bring your cash or pay with Canadian debit card; which is the norm for all the eateries in Markham area

Yelp
My favourite snack is the Marinated Beef Shank Sesame Flat Bread. I usually just pick up this snack and the beef noodle Signature Beef noodle Soup. It fills the spot!

Yelp
Classic Taiwanese popcorn chicken taste! Went to Papa Changs after getting hungry shopping at the mall and got there around 4PM-5PM. It was completely empty inside and I was honestly a little worried. A few employees were sitting on their phones to the side of the store. I spoke with a lady behind the ordering counter about what I should order/what she suggests (even though I knew I would definitely be ordering the popcorn chicken). She suggested the Taiwanese sausage with braised meat rice so I got that and the popcorn chicken bento box. I would def not recommend the sausage rice (I wish I took a photo of it) it had 80% rice, a thin layer of braised meat sauce & 1 Taiwanese sausage cut up. The Taiwanese sausage was fine (taste wise) so I suggest ordering that as a snack instead of as a meal. The popcorn chicken bento box on the other hand was good! Like I mentioned earlier, it's the classic popcorn chicken taste we all love and are used to. The bento box had a good amount of chicken, not too much rice (also came w/ a thin layer of meat sauce on it) & 3 small random sides which I thought wasn't bad. My favorite of the sides was this tempura fish cake that had a sauce similar to Taiwanese oyster egg pancake! Overall I say if you come here get the popcorn chicken! It won't disappoint! If you're not that hungry for the bento box the snack version would be great too! Also try to enjoy ASAP if it's takeout since the lids are plastic & the chicken gets soggy after a while

Yelp
A great go-to spot in the area. Cheap and delicious food and. Most people get takeout as the place is pretty small. Their signature dish is their popcorn chicken so if you can, see if you can try it! Otherwise, I usually like to get the chili taiwanese sausage with mince pork w/ rice (8.49). It comes with an egg and I think you can get one that is maybe 0.50-1.00 cheaper if you don't like chili. Super tasty, filling, and a great meal for under $10. Definitely would recommend you try it out!

Yelp
Went in with extremely high hopes Noddle dishes were very very bland little if no flavor. The the chili beef noodle soup were very very salty and again lacking any depth. Chili popcorn chicken was decent but again lots of salt Green onion pancake was the only good thing here Skewer chicken was deep fried with some mystery sauce. Was looking fwd. to liking this place and was totally turned off and will not dare try Taiwanese again

Yelp
Best Taiwanese food period. Super Fast service and economical price. Be there early, the line clears quickly.

Yelp
PaPa Chang's serves up Taiwanese snacks and is a relatively small establishment. We recently ordered their popcorn chicken party tray (their speciality) for an event and it was prepared on time and it was delicious! Came with spicy mayo as well. I'd definitely recommend them if you're looking for a quick snack or if you need food for a party. They offer several party tray options including ones with assorted Taiwanese snacks and not just popcorn chicken.

Yelp
Papa Chang's is such a nostalgic spot for me. During high school, I would often get something from Papa Chang's after school for a snack (yes, I needed some big snacks due to a small appetite during school). I have always loved their Beef Noodle Soup because it's really comforting, warm, and savoury. The broth is always rich with beef flavour and the beef is usually quite tender. It is definitely my favourite dish there. Other than that, I often get their skewer chicken, or taiwanese sausage and minced pork rice. I have also tried a number of their rice boxes and appetizer type items. They are also tasty and they give good portions! I appreciate how their prices have been kept so low throughout their existence. I recommend this spot as an easy, cheap meal option!

Yelp
Food was good had homestyle and affordable prices ! Service was quick to the point. Small shop and had lots of old fashion mom and pop feel. Not too much sitting
google avatar

Gabriel S.

Yelp
Deep fried pork chop bento was decent. Pork chop was well fried, came with mild sweet sauce and some soy sauce minced pork. Portion wasn't huge & the 3 side dishes were ok. Braised pork on rice was very tasty. It was a mix of pork belly & ground pork. The pork belly had a good proportion of fat. The rice was a bit uneven though. Signature beef noodle soup was decent. They haven't raised their prices since before covid, which is nice. HeySong root beer is a Taiwanese sarsaparilla brand. It's quite medicinal and not nice.
google avatar

Ivy C.

Yelp
Decently filling portions for what they look like - was more satisfied than expected given we were pretty hungry when we walked in! Quality is reasonable for the price ($). Also note that this place only takes cash / debit. I had the chicken teriyaki bento which had a lot of different components / flavors. The sauces used were also interesting - the teriyaki one reminded me of wasabi. The fish cake sauce almost felt like it was going to be spicy but it wasn't. The tofu would have been better if it came with soy sauce / some flavoring. Overall I would say this was a 3.5 / 5 - it's worth coming if you're just looking for a filling meal with a cheap price.

Yelp
Its been years since ive been here and the food was just as good as I remember it. The popcorn chicken was my son's favorite. The noodles have a nice consistency. The minced pork was good. I will say the sausage wasnt our favorite. It was quite bland and i remember it tasting better in the past. We enjoyed everything else. For out of towners like us they only accept cash or canadian debit so make sure you bring it.

Yelp
I use to love Papa Chang's... But I guess as years go by quality control isn't there ? I've been visiting papa Chang's for over 7 years and recently had a craving. Ordered the popcorn chicken, chicken skewers, takoyaki, and braised beef noodle. Popcorn chicken was 2/5, chicken skewers, 1.5/5, takoyaki 2/5, and braised beef noodle 3/5 I'm so sad to see this place downgrade.... the food doesn't taste like it once did and it tasted like they haven't changed their oil in a bit. I've had a very bad experience before at their pacific mall location but I didn't think it would affect this location... Prices have also went up but that's ok as long as food still taste great but the food isn't even average...

Hemal P.

Yelp
Good amount of food, however lacked in favour. Be sure to ask for soy sauce or spice packets before leaving.

Yelp
This is a small restaurant tucked away in a small plaza by Markham Rd and 16th Ave. We noticed that a large portion of their customers are people getting takeout. This was more than amount of people that actually ate there. Between 3 people we shared a few snacks and a beef noodle soup. Deep fried fish cakes, deep fried pork belly, Taiwanese sausage, green onion pancake, chicken skewers. The chicken skewers were very large. This means that there's a ton of batter over the actual meat. Still tasty but too much batter for my liking. The other snacks were very tasty and hit the spot. I found that the noodles in the beef noodle soup were tastier than another Taiwanese restaurant. We left absolutely stuffed. Probably could've done with at least 1 less dish.

Yelp
Great place for a quick, tasty, affordable taiwanese meal. Everything tasted good and was very reasonably priced. Food came out fast. Service was also very good

Yelp
DINNER This joint has been on my hit list for God knows how long? 5 years? Lol Finally tried it out today! Don't worry, Im taking care of my procrastination issues, just you all wait and see! Anyhow, we waltzed right in, walked straight up to the counter, looked the lady dead in her eyes and said "give me your most popular dishes!" She recommended the beef noodle soup, the spicy sausage on rice with preserved veggies and their famous pop corn chicken. Food came in quick as F. Before we could even wipe down the silverware, a dude pops out from the back carrying the popcorn chicken and the sausage rice dish! Hows that for microwave magic? Hmm. The popcorn chicken was aight aight. Not too shabby. The rice dish was also delectable, spicy and had that "brothy" feel to it. I enjoyed it. But bruh, the beef noodle soup should have not been on that popular list. It belongs on the least likely to get a job after highschool list. The soup was contaminated with MSG, made my mouth feel like I just drank a mouthful of dead sea water. The beef was also pretty tough and chewy which made me wanna swing by costco and get a box of dental floss chewy. All in all, this place is good for a quick meal fix if your in the area. But the hype isn't real for me or maybe I just waited too long to try? Oh well. C'est la vie.
google avatar

Ed U.

Yelp
Their thick pork soup and cabbage dish are our staple aside from their "bento" -like rice combos of popcorn chicken, teriyaki chicken or the basil chicken. Most satisfying at a very affordable price.
google avatar

Cindy D.

Yelp
The Taiwanese popcorn chicken here was really good, it came in a larger than expected portion. My friends who have never had this kind of appetizer before also enjoyed it!

Magdalene T.

Yelp
Spicy Beef noodle soup and rice bowls are filling and tasty. Just like home cooked food, but without the mess of cooking and cleaning up. Seating is limited.
google avatar

Clair W.

Yelp
This is go to takeout place all the time, popcorn chicken and marinated beef noodles. Today, we are trying their party tray - marinated set ($50!) it's SO worth it, the picture I took isnt the full set cause I ate a bunch already. This is highly recommend! I am pretty sure other party trays also taste very good and worth the money!

J S.

Yelp
Used to be my favourite, not anymore. Fair prices and good food. However, the other day I ordered something that came up to 11.29 and they charged me 50 cents for the machine. After looking at the sign that says 10 or under, I mention that it's over 10. Insists that it's still 50 c charge even though it doesn't mention that it has to be over 10 with tax. Regardless, without tax it was 9.99 and I come here quite often (2-3 times weekly). They have never done this before. I will not be coming back if this is how they treat loyal customers.

Yelp
One of my fave cheap eats restaurants in Markham! I was first introduced a few years ago and I've been hooked ever since. My favourite items include the Taiwanese fried chicken and takoyaki. Honestly, real home styled Taiwanese food at such a great deal with good prices. I have no complaints. Just know, they don't do credit card, only cash and debit. They also do take out and catering with party trays. Would recommend !

Yelp
I've heard good things from friends about the food at Pa Pa Chang's so it's been on my list for a while. Walking in, it was a lot smaller and more casual than I anticipated. The tiny tables were so close together, we might as well have been sharing tables. We started with Green Onion Pancakes that were a bit greasy but tasty. We shared an order of Taiwanese Sausage with Ground Pork, Preserved Vegetables, and Soya Egg over rice and a Bento Box with Braised Pork Belly and Preserved Vegetables. The flavours were good, kinda like a good home cooked meal. The presentation lacked finesse though, not quite what I expect from a restaurant. It reinforced that home-cooked feel. Come for the food.

Yelp
7pm on a saturday night. Full occupancy in this tiny cozy place. But turn over was fast. Wasnt too long of a wait but you have to wait outside in the cold (hence, knocked off a star). You leave your number and they will call you when there are seats available. Love the food. Cant get anymore authentic than this! What I ordered: Minced pork and taiwanese sausage rice. Added egg Spicy version of the above Spicy popcorn chicken Apple soda Food was here 2mins after we ordered! Amazing cuz i was starving and waiting in the cold. Cheap good eats. Will definitely come back again!
google avatar

Chloe M.

Yelp
Food: This minced pork rice is probably the closest thing in Canada to what I had in Taiwan. The pork is not dry as theres a good balance between fats and meat. The sauce is not too salty either. I can probably eat five bowls of these in one day if i allow myself to. Cheap, comforting and good is all I have to say. Portion: Normal. Bento box is a lot though Environment: small and not a lot of spaces, might hv to share tables with others

Yelp
I've always seen and wanted to try Papa Chang's as I see them all the time. Finally, we've ordered a party tray #4 to the potluck party we are going. It was great and a great hit at the party at least this was the only platter that didn't have any leftovers. They made sure everything was crispy, and it was crispy when we ate it probably 30 to 45 minutes after we got the food.  The staff are great and friendly. I've ordered through the phone and they ask us to be on time due to the fried food as they want to ensure we got the best quality out of their food. We were early arriving and they made the party tray on the spot and took great care making sure the foil is kept open while making sure it secures the food for the car ride.  There were a lot of takeouts during my wait. It was a small cozy shop but it can definitely get pack. Will definitely try this place again and other menu items which looks delicious.

Yelp
This restaurant located in a small strip plaza. Their famous food on menu is popcorn chicken and minced pork rice bowl. I always liked this place as they have good food and cheap. Service here is good that the waiter would keep refill your water. Would definitely come back.
google avatar

Gilbert C.

Yelp
We are the only table that dined in for that time being, and all others come in for takeout. The food is not oily and salty, and the bento we ordered are good enough to fill our empty stomach. The fried pork and popcorn chicken should not be prepared in advance, and they serve hot and fresh. $30+tax and tips is reasonable for 3 people.
google avatar

Erica W.

Yelp
I came here for lunch around 12 and surprisingly there weren't a lot of people, but it did fill up by the time we got our food. I ordered a Popcorn Chicken Bento box that had rice and the popcorn chicken with three small portions of different side veggies. As a Taiwanese Canadian, I honestly thought it was alright, good for the price (~$8) but quality and taste wise, I've had better. My friend got the Chili Taiwanese Sausage Mince Pork with rice. I tried only a little bit of the pickled veggies and it tasted like the ones I usually get at another Taiwanese bento place. When I was paying, I paid cash and I asked for change but then my friends card didn't work so I paid for her. He gave me the change back, but didn't even give me a chance to look at it before taking it back (at this point I was still preoccupied with the card machine) and so I ended up tipping well over when I wanted to tip. I was going to ask for it back but there was suddenly a lot of people so I didn't bother. I'm not really sure I'll come back again, food was decent but it didn't wow me enough to make me want to come back. Service can be improved.

Yelp
Woohoo 100th review goes to PaPa Chang's! Papa Chang's is an express eatery that serves delicious Taiwanese comfort foods. They have their main location tucked inside a small plaza on Markham Rd/16th Ave. They have two other locations in Markham (second floor of Pacific Mall + 14th/Alden Rd). They strongly favor takeout businesses and all of their items are priced at or below food court prices! It is a sure go-to for quick, yummy and affordable Taiwanese take out food! CRISPY PORK CHOP BENTO w/ TERIYAKI SAUCE The Crispy Pork Chop Bento w/ Teriyaki Sauce comes in a bento box filled with flavorful (stewed minced pork) rice, fried pork cutlet, vegetables (tofu, cabbage, radish), and fish cake. The pieces of pork were juicy, lightly battered with a great crunch, and seasoned perfectly. The fish cakes are lightly glazed with the same delicious sauce and with the vegetables, they balance out the hearty pork with rice. The entire combo was very tasty and a nice change of pace from my usual order. Recommend! POPCORN CHICKEN The Popcorn Chicken is AMAZING. I love how crispy, flavorful, and juicy the chicken is. However, there are some times when consistency is off with appearance: sometimes lightly golden and sometimes darker. I used to always get the Popcorn Chicken Bento which I enjoyed because they serve the Popcorn Chicken on top of flavorful stewed minced pork rice and include a side of veggies (tofu, cabbage, radish) and fish cakes (super yummy). You may add 50c to make the Popcorn Chicken Spicy. Interestingly, I've noticed that take out orders do not provide a sauce but dine-ins do... DEEP-FRIED FISH CAKES I love the fish cakes that are provided in the bento boxes but it didn't seem as worth when ordering them alone because you do not get that much for how much it costs ($5.49). DEEP-FRIED SALTED SQUID BALLS Deep-Fried Salted Squid Balls were good but not anything special, it is $6.49 for 6 balls and unfortunately for take out, they get pretty mushed. I would not order these again. TAIWANESE SASUAGE The $5.49 Taiwanese Sausage was okay but a bit too chewy and thinly cut for my liking. I wouldn't get this again. I've also gotten this with the minced pork rice but I felt that it didn't add much to the already flavorful dish. DEEP-FRIED PORK BELLY Deep-Fried Pork Belly for $9.99 was delicious but on the expensive side since the portion is small and it costs more than a rice bowl/ bento etc...! It isn't something I would get regularly just because of the price but I do recommend trying it. It is cut into thin pieces (which helps make it less heavy). All the pieces are very crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The dip (missing from the popcorn chicken) that comes with it makes it even more flavorful. HAND CUT MINCED PORK w/ RICE The Hand Cut Minced Pork with Rice is $4.99 and it may sound simple but it is the best savoury, rich meat sauce that is braised to perfection served on a bed of soft steaming rice along with pickled vegetables. It is an iconic Taiwanese dish that is aromatic and comforting. The minced pork belly has some fat to get that melt-in-your-mouth texture and infuses the rice with rich flavors. The pickled vegetables does a very good job at balancing out the richness. They also have a version with spicy chili flavors that is $1.50 more expensive ($6.49) and it's really good for those that enjoy a spicy dish. However, it is a bit strange that the difference between chili popcorn chicken and regular popcorn chicken is 50c while this one is a difference of $1.50. NOTE: Images on the menu show it with an egg but the egg is an add on of $1. I find this misleading for newcomers. CHILI STEWED PORK BELLY ON RICE The Chili Stewed Pork Belly on Rice was a miss for me. I thought it would be soft, juicy, and tender like their minced pork rice but it was very tough and chewy. Not sure if it was a one-off... but I am not in a hurry to try this again. If you call ahead to place your order, they can have it ready (usually) under 20 minutes! CASH/DEBIT ONLY.

Yelp
How can I NOT have already written a review for this place?! This is one of my fav Taiwanese resto. I've ordered way too many many times here since they open! This place is fairly small with about 10 tables with small group of people. I usually just do take out. Must try Apps - Since I've already tried way too many dishes here I'm just going to share my few standard apps I usually order regularly. The fried fish skewer is a must try. Fried fish was very tender and juicy! I tried the chicken skewers recently and didn't like it that much. I wasn't anything special. If I want fried chicken I'd definitely go for the popcorn chicken as it is much flavourful. I also love their pork floss egg pancake. Everything just mixes well together! Main - The Taiwanese sausage with minced pork rice is my favorite. Recently, I tried the cuttlefish thick soup noodles. It was okay. Should've just get it with the popcorn chicken instead. It taste a bit on the lighter side but the soup was good. I prefer the minced pork soup noodle my bf ordered more than mine haha. There's way too many dishes I loved here. One thing that must try was their homemade pineapple cake. The best I've had. They stopped selling for awhile and now it's back in stock! I think they accept pre-order only. The price isn't cheap ($30 for 10pc) but is worth it! It's very chewy and different than store bought ones. Have I mentioned the pastry taste very buttery and scrumptious and smells soo good too?!

Yelp
This plaza is really close to my old high school; wish there was this restaurant back then! Their specialty is definitely the Taiwanese minced pork with rice and popcorn chicken. I love the ingredients in that rice bowl, especially the egg. I have been to Taiwan before; this comes close but it's pretty hard to beat. I would prefer they use less rice, and more toppings instead. The flavour was lacking a bit for me. It was a busy time when I came for lunch, but the staff is very accomodating and tries to greet everyone politely. Small restaurant, with not many seats; some people had to wait out side to be called. Prices are reasonable, compared to other places in Markham. Overall, it's still a decent place to come once in awhile!

Yelp
Have been going here for a few years now since we moved to the area but prior to that we also drove up here to get their snacks. They have great party tray options for gatherings, is something different than your regular sushi or Popeyes lol, we always get the braised mix tray, very yummy!

Yelp
Amazing taiwanese takeout place. Nothing fancy for sure as far as environment goes but the food is really on point. Definitely recommend the popcorn chicken and the minced pork rice. Price is pretty good and is currently doing take out. Check it out!

Yelp
Great Taiwanese Food quality with affordable price Fast takeout service Friendly staffs Food options are sufficient However one star lost because the dining space needs expansion for bigger group. It is a limitation for bigger size of the group if more than 8. Go early is my tip during dinner hours

Yelp
Came here looking for a new place for a light meal or snack in Markham. Between a group of 4, we got the fried squid balls ($5.50), popcorn chicken ($5.50), minced pork with rice ($4.50), and popcorn chicken w/ wet noodle ($6.99). The popcorn chicken was the best - really well seasoned, lots of flavour, fried to perfection, and very fresh. Portion size ran small (approx 10 pcs?) for $6 but that's to be expected for a snack. The minced pork on rice was also very good; more subtle in flavour, kind of had home-cooked-meal vibes to it, definitely a comfort food. The popcorn chicken w/ wet noodle had the pieces of chicken in the wet noodle, which I found kind of weird. The chicken soaked up the broth immediately and lost its texture and flavour. That, and the broth itself could have been stronger. Very good value though since you're getting a decent sized noodle and some popcorn chicken for ~$7. It was probably the most filling item we ordered. Lastly, the fried squid balls I found straight up disappointing. I was expecting squid, but it was actually cuttlefish (in English both are apparently called squid, so I didn't know the difference until my friend who can read in Chinese told me). The fish balls tasted like the ones you get from the supermarket, but fried better. Portion size in general runs towards small; the food is good but I wouldn't come here if I was really hungry. I really liked the variety they had in their dishes and would definitely come back for the popcorn chicken. All in all, a solid place that offers a variety of Taiwanese foods. Good, but nothing to write home about.

Yelp
Came here for dinner in eager anticipation due to the raving reviews! We each ordered a signature beef noodle soup (four in total), with a side of fried intestines and popcorn chicken. The popcorn chicken came first, and, true to the reviews, it was absolutely delicious!! The batter, though thick in some parts, was not heavy at all. I purposely grabbed it with my fingers to test its greasiness, but my fingers came away virtually free of any oil blemishes. The beef noodle soup, on the other hand, was a different story. My three family members ordered the spicy version (read my tip on that after), while I got the original. The soup was not at all good. Even I can make a better version of it at home. The broth was overly sweet, with too much sesame oil, and lacked any meat flavour whatsoever. Adding the spicy sauce made it slightly more bearable, but there was still far too much oil and the sweetness of the pickled cabbage was still very much present. We were not fans of it at all, and realized belatedly that we could have ordered three to share. With that being said, I was pleased that m bowl had so much tendon (basically all tendon, not much beef). The pork intestines were okay. There were some crispy bits, but on the whole, the intestines were overly fatty and oily. The best intestines I've had thus far were definitely those at Swatow on downtown Toronto, Chinatown. Overall, I didn't find this place to be as good as others have stated. Maybe we ordered the wrong things, but really, only the popcorn chicken stood out to me. Will likely visit other places in Markham instead of returning, since there are so many choices in this region!

Yelp
Came here with friends to dine in. Wait time was a bit long at 30 mins but that's to be expected as the place is very small and most people takeout. The spicy popcorn chicken bento and the Taiwanese sausage on rice were amazing, and a very good portion for the price. Someone at our table tried the beef noodle soup which came out way too boiling hot too eat, but was packed with meat and noodles and overall very tasty broth. Would come here again to try the rest of the menu, but will probably end up just getting popcorn chicken again as it was probably the best Taiwanese popcorn chicken I've ever had.

Yelp
Always wanted to go here. I got the Chili Stewed Pork Belly on rice. It was on the front page. It comes with some pickled veggies, minced pork, lots of pork belly, and a big scoop of dried chilis. Before mixing, I tried each component on its own. Everything was delicious. The chili was unique and extemely flavourful. Upon eating, I found it to become more and more spicy. It was actually quite a decent amount of spicy too. The pork belly was so juicy and flavourful. I was also extremely pleasantly surprised to find minced pork underneath since that seems to be the speciality of this place. I got to try that, and it really made the rice underneath tastier to eat. Not just plain rice and pork belly slices, ya kno. Upon reading reviews and looking at the low price, I was expecting very small portions. However, even though my friend and I came in straving, we both were unable to finish our rice bowls... the bowls look small, but they are deep. That being said, there is not a huge amount of rice compared to the meat. There is quite a good balance that doesnt leave you with plain rice at the end. I also got the tako pancake, since I like japanese pancake. They looked similar topping wise, but this had wasabi drizzled all over it!!! The wasabi was a nice touch. Unlike the japanese okonomiyaki, this was a bit thicker with more batter. I liked it but my friend did not. It was also hard to finish since we were so full. We were also given a side of very fresh kimchi! I wish it had came earlier since we got it when we were both full. The server handed out everyones kimchi at the same time so maybe they had run out earlier. Overall, I would definitely come back to this place to try more of their snack items such as popcorn chicken, skewers, takoyaki. I'd also like to try the taiwanese sausage, since I've never had that before. Apparently this place makes fresh noodles (according to my friend). I am not a huge fan of soup noodles, but I love noodles!! Upon looking at the menu, I only saw 1 dry noodle option... in the future, I would like tto seem them expand their dry noodle options, perhaps adding some kind of fried noodles too.
