The weather was just PERFECT...so we decided to head to this ole place for its dockside dining scene.
We hit the place around 5:15 pm, yet we had to get on the waitlist...a good 45 minutes wait (though they quoted us 1 hour to 90 minutes!). I guess it was to be expected...given the day's beautiful weather. Luckily, we noticed many seating areas...so we grabbed some drinks (Beer, and Watermelon Margarita), and just chilled out in the sun 'til our table was ready. I probably have been here before (decades before during my party days)...but could barely remember. As expected, it was a more casual version of North Shore Club. I definitely preferred the North Shore Club (both ambiance and food), but this place did have its own thing going on. The place was huge...much bigger than anticipated; and it did provide this festive, party vibe. Where was the music though?? No overhead music...or if there was one, I can't even recall hearing it.
Once seated, we ordered Smack Down Shrimp right away...and for entrees, my husband got the Fish & Chips, and I got the Grilled Chicken Caesar Wrap, with Fries. The menu was fairly extensive...with mostly Southern-American items.
Well, not sure whose fault...but we didn't get our appetizer, Smack Down Shrimp, until AFTER our entrees were delivered...and only after we asked about it. In any case, I liked this appetizer more than anything else...tasted just like Bang Bang Shrimp.
My husband really liked his Fish & Chips...and I halfway liked the Chicken Caesar Wrap...only because it was a tad salty, and thought the chicken was a tad too dry. On the positive side, this wrap include bacon bits! Fries were good, but a tad too saturated. Still, the foods were actually better than what I had anticipated.
The Watermelon Margarita was a tad sweeter than necessary...and I don't say that much. I almost felt a tad sick at one point? Still, it gave me a good buzz...so well worth it.
Overall, we both really enjoyed hanging out here. The weather was really perfect for it...and again, the place definitely had its festive vibe (minus the music!). Honestly, I'd rate this place about 3.5 stars...but since I have to round up or down, I'll drop 4. Am definitely up for returning on another beautiful, sunny day!
