On more than one occasion, team members have gone out of their way to find specialty products or recommend new arrivals to try. Unique features like the in-store bakery and ready-to-eat meal counter make this my go-to stop for quick dinner solutions. The store also offers plenty of organic and multicultural options, accommodating various dietary needs and preferences. There’s a real sense of pride in customer service—questions are promptly answered and feedback is always welcomed. Doesn't even deserve one star. I had sent my man to purchase a strawberry delight cake for my birthday on 28th. Prior to that, I called papa joe's, and spoke to a female employee inquiring about how fresh the cake is, and when it was made. She said she had just put it out and assured me it was made that day and fresh. So I sent my man to purchase the big size strawberry delight cake. I was looking forward to eating the cake and was excited, only to be upset and extremely disappointed after trying a slice. Cake tasted stale, old. And, . It was falling apart as well. Strawberries on the top was mushy and tasted soggy which is also a sign that the cake was too old. to be consumed. This ruined my birthday and wasted my money down the drain. We ended up throwing the cake away . It wouldn’t be worth it for us to drive round trip , gas , mileage and time. Papa Joe’s ! Do not deceive customers by saying it is freshly made the same day when it is not. Don’t push your expired old cakes to unsuspecting customers, because you don’t want to throw away old expired cakes. If you want to maintain your reputation and retain customers, you need to do quality control and stop deceiving your loyal customers. See the attached photos as well. Seems like this is an ongoing issue at the bakery where they lie to customers saying the cake is fresh and new when it was not. Also, I see another review in here where they mentioned that your bakery had sold a moldy strawberry delight cake. Seems like you didn’t correct the problem. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have been sold an old , stale expired cake under the pretense of being new and freshly made that day.

I live relatively close to Papa Joe's. I haven't been there in years. I need it a few extra things on Christmas Eve; the first place  I went to was Whole Foods once again very disappointed. My daughter told me to go to Papa Joe's. I wonder why I  never go there. You can call me a creature of habit. To be honest, when I first stepped into the store, it had a weird fishy smell. I almost turned around, but my daughter, who I was talking to on the phone, told me to walk into the store and check it out. To my surprise, they had a great bakery section that was unbelievable. The desserts were very appealing to the eyes. The taste was fabulous, and the icing on the cake was that they had vegan and gluten-free desserts. Sorry for shopping on Christmas Eve because I work the afternoon shift and do not get out of work till 11:30 at night, and all stores are closed by the time I leave employment... Edit January 24th, 2023. When I go shopping, I don't dress to impress. WARNING when you go to Papa Joe's, you better dress to impress. I wore a pair of black leggings with my black military-style boots (Bates).The first person I encountered was a man pushing a cart, he sneered at me like I smelled funny, but no, it was the store's same fishy smell that was there on Christmas eve. The store is set up like a maze; it took me a few minutes to remember where the bakery department was. Once again, the desserts were fabulous, and the woman behind the counter was pleasant. Since I was in the store, I decided to look around. First, I went to the cheese department; they had a decent variety of cheese, comparable to Kroger Market place on  E 12 mile in Royal Oak. I picked out cheese that I thought my daughter would like. Then I noticed the same person milling around the bakery was now standing near the cheese department. At first, I didn't give it much thought until every aisle I went down, and they were there. At that point, I decided to leave, and he followed me to the check-out. Because it's all about the desserts I will be back.

Expired products everywhere in this store. Returns on multiple occasions. Smells musty and moldy. Poor check out procedure and service. It's our corner grocery store so I kept giving them a shot. Today was our last visit. No shortage of similar shops in the area.

High end market- and high price point. Great variety of excellent pre made food but rest of store is conventional - nothing organic in anyway. But good for your corn chowder and other classics!

Nice suburban market with great selection of prepared foods, produce, fresh meats and seafood. A bit pricey but wonderful shopping atmosphere with array of quality items. Small cafe area and bistro. Plenty of parking.

Update : Still great, produce is very fresh and beautifully organized, always be refreshed and artistically arranged. I recently visited this charming gourmet market, and it was an absolute delight. Although small, the store is impeccably organized, with beautifully displayed produce that’s both fresh and inviting. They have a fantastic selection of items, from everyday essentials to organic options, catering to all types of shoppers. One highlight was the wine section—thoughtfully curated, with something for every taste and occasion. While some items are on the pricier side, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of sales and promotions, which make it accessible for any budget. It’s clear they aim to provide quality and variety, making this little market a gem in the neighborhood!

A must-stop almost every time I go to Birmingham! Went here for restaurant week and loved the menu! Have since gone back several times and never regretted a single order! Love the fact that there is this wonderful grocery attached with a lot of prepared foods that are made with quality ingredients! Baked goods and pastries are amazing! Beer purveyors know their stuff! head upstairs and grab a seat looking out over Woodland Avenue! Watch the world drive by while you are in your own little world. Service is consistently excellent and food is delicious! Whipped butter, fresh bread, shrimp and grits... don't miss the ribs! Really enjoyed the marrow bones! Brunch is delicious as well!
