Came here a few months ago when we found that Papa John's re-opened in the Montreal area after having closed all their stores for a few years.
There was a lot of hype to the name, but at the end of the day, Papa John's offers decent pizza, nothing to go crazy about.
This location is very small, there are just a couple tables and some bar style seating but it is mostly made for takeout. It so happens the day I tried coming here, the store kept locking its doors because their printing system was broken, they weren't able to take more orders and had to reduce the amount of people coming in. It was very confusing and to make matters worse, they didn't have any menu in store. The employees told us to just go online.
I assume all the kinks and service improved since then. As for the pizza, the biggest plus is that it comes with a free dipping sauce. The signature dipping sauce tastes just like butter, it is amazing and really useful for that leftover crust. Adds that irresistible garlic butter flavor.
The dough is kind of chewy, reminds me of regular Dominoes and the toppings are kind of sparce. I still prefer my local 2 for 1 pizza joint that has a greasier style of pizza and LOTS more toppings. There's so many better options elsewhere.
If Papa John's has a promo or discount for takeout then sure come and try it, but I don't see how this could be anyone's favorite pizza when there is nothing spectacular.
