20 Best Museums in Mexico City | Condé Nast Traveler

"This huge museum at the edge of Chapultepec Park is packed with interactive activities and even an IMAX cinema. Imagine everything you loved to do as a kid, and your child (OK, you) can do it here: Make huge bubbles, sit for story time, shop in a child-sized supermarket. The interactive exhibits are great for entertaining short attention spans, and the hands-on staff are helpful in guiding you toward your next activity. Every parent who comes here imagines their kids will get bored after two hours—chances are you'll stay three to four, at least." - Susannah Rigg

Both kids (9 & 2) loved it. It’s nice that they let you leave and return same day. I liked that they have some outdoor areas. It would have been nice, however, to have some more open ended easily accessible (for kids) activities as there are many labs/ activities here are instructor lead and you must wait for the start time. Came on a Thurs near 30min after opening and it was surprisingly veryyy busy (school trips, I believe?). Staff kept things running smoothly and all areas were clean. The play supermarket was my toddler’s favorite area.

Papalote Museo del Niño is one of our favorite spots in Mexico City! Our kids absolutely love it—they can spend hours exploring the hands-on exhibits and learning through play. Recommended and less crowded during weekdays. The museum is full of interactive zones designed for all ages, and the staff and guides are super friendly, helpful, and engaging. One of the highlights for us is always the axolotls (or "jolotes"), which are fascinating creatures native to the Mexico City area. The kids could watch them for hours! We also highly recommend the theater experience—it’s a massive dome screen with comfy reclining chairs, and it’s both entertaining and educational. If you're driving, they also have a very convenient parking garage. Overall, it’s a fun, educational, and family-friendly place we keep coming back to!

This children’s museum is very well run, with lots of guided sessions. Staff were super friendly. The 3D movie under the dome was a cool experience, very well made. Food options are somewhat limited if you are vegetarian

This is the best children’s museum that we’ve ever been to. It’s very interactive and suitable for children of all ages. We spent a couple of hours there and still didn’t have the opportunity to explore everything they had to offer. My daughter really enjoyed the shopping station, veterinarian area, and science lab. If you’re English speaking, there are some museum staff that speak English and wear a special button indicating so. Even if you don’t speak Spanish, you’ll still have a very enjoyable time. Fun is universal. I highly recommend incorporating this museum into your CDMX travel plans if you’re traveling with children.

This is a great place for kids of all ages. I brought my 1 year old and my five year old kids, and they both enjoyed it. They have a lot of activities and you can easily spend the whole day here. There's a place to catch a quick bite in case you get huntry and you can come back the same day in case you leave early. The cinematic experience is a must, and if you buy the all-inclusive ticket, you won't regret it.

This place is awesome. We brought our four kids here (2 two year olds, 5 year old, 9 year old) and they all had fun. We didn’t even see the whole place and we were there for about 5 hours, including a small lunch break at the food court outside. I love that all the areas are attended by staff (who were all so friendly), and they limit how many children can go into each section. It made the experience so much more enjoyable within each section because it was not overcrowded. We loved the supermarket, the movie in the super dome, and the science experiments the most. There is also a fun play area for 2-5 year olds that we spent at least an hour in. They also rent wheelchairs and strollers for FREE! I will definitely be coming back next time we visit.

If your in Mexico City with children you should go! Squeeze it into your already made itinerary. Do it, you won’t regret it! Heck if you don’t have children, you should go! They definitely teach you a thing or two, make you aware of relevant climate topics, appropriate body topics, Mother Nature topics, gravity topics, but in fun way! Many more I can’t remember to name. I took my kids, they asked questions the whole time…. made them more mindful. This museum was awesome! Spent the whole day there, food court outside easy way to eat come back and finish off where you left off. Clean, free restrooms! Parking was also very easy, they have lockers for belongings you don’t want to carry. Everyone was so pleasant and laid back! I can’t say enough good things about this place. We enjoyed it very much.

Phenomenal place for kids. Visited after a busy day at another museum in the park. So many opportunities for hands-on play. Kids were happy to be able to touch and play with all the exhibits. The slide was the favorite. You need at least 4 hours to enjoy everything but really should plan to spend the whole day in order to take advantage of all the exhibits without rushing. There was fast food and snacks on site so you don't have to travel far to eat. Most staff spoke some English. Recommend visiting during the week.
