20 Best Museums in Mexico City | Condé Nast Traveler

"This huge museum at the edge of Chapultepec Park is packed with interactive activities and even an IMAX cinema. Imagine everything you loved to do as a kid, and your child (OK, you) can do it here: Make huge bubbles, sit for story time, shop in a child-sized supermarket. The interactive exhibits are great for entertaining short attention spans, and the hands-on staff are helpful in guiding you toward your next activity. Every parent who comes here imagines their kids will get bored after two hours—chances are you'll stay three to four, at least." - Susannah Rigg

This is a must visit for families with children. We went with children ranging from 10 to 2 and everyone had a great time. The exhibits are excellent and so fun. But more than that the staff are so engaged with their station and make it a wonderful experience of learning and fun. I went with two teachers from the USA and both were impressed with the level of excellence in this museum. And its only $12 USD. The food court was so clean and had plenty of familiar options as well as some fun new ones. Don't skip this one. It is helpful if you know some Spanish, but not required.

Both kids (9 & 2) loved it. It’s nice that they let you leave and return same day. I liked that they have some outdoor areas. It would have been nice, however, to have some more open ended easily accessible (for kids) activities as there are many labs/ activities here are instructor lead and you must wait for the start time. Came on a Thurs near 30min after opening and it was surprisingly veryyy busy (school trips, I believe?). Staff kept things running smoothly and all areas were clean. The play supermarket was my toddler’s favorite area.

Great place for small kids. I took my 10 year old, and there were a few things she could do, still have fun, but I think smaller kids have more fun. The bubble place was her favorite and the Imax experience was worth paying extra. Try not to miss the parking when you get there by the entrance of the museum, I passed it and took us a while to find parking in the public parking

Papalote Museo del Niño is one of our favorite spots in Mexico City! Our kids absolutely love it—they can spend hours exploring the hands-on exhibits and learning through play. Recommended and less crowded during weekdays. The museum is full of interactive zones designed for all ages, and the staff and guides are super friendly, helpful, and engaging. One of the highlights for us is always the axolotls (or "jolotes"), which are fascinating creatures native to the Mexico City area. The kids could watch them for hours! We also highly recommend the theater experience—it’s a massive dome screen with comfy reclining chairs, and it’s both entertaining and educational. If you're driving, they also have a very convenient parking garage. Overall, it’s a fun, educational, and family-friendly place we keep coming back to!

This children’s museum is very well run, with lots of guided sessions. Staff were super friendly. The 3D movie under the dome was a cool experience, very well made. Food options are somewhat limited if you are vegetarian

This is the best children’s museum that we’ve ever been to. It’s very interactive and suitable for children of all ages. We spent a couple of hours there and still didn’t have the opportunity to explore everything they had to offer. My daughter really enjoyed the shopping station, veterinarian area, and science lab. If you’re English speaking, there are some museum staff that speak English and wear a special button indicating so. Even if you don’t speak Spanish, you’ll still have a very enjoyable time. Fun is universal. I highly recommend incorporating this museum into your CDMX travel plans if you’re traveling with children.

Amazing place. The staff was very nice! The only thing is that there were a few things my son couldn't experience because he was 6 instead of 5, which was a little disappointing. We mostly enjoyed bubbles and outside activities! Definitely a must do if and whenever in Mexico City!

This is a great place for kids of all ages. I brought my 1 year old and my five year old kids, and they both enjoyed it. They have a lot of activities and you can easily spend the whole day here. There's a place to catch a quick bite in case you get huntry and you can come back the same day in case you leave early. The cinematic experience is a must, and if you buy the all-inclusive ticket, you won't regret it.

Yelp
The good: This was a huge museum with so many fun and interesting points of interest for kids. We tried the outdoor playground, bubble room, bicycles outside, kitchen, outdoor sandbox, the giant skeleton head area with biological information, courtyard area with hoola hoops, the toddler area with wooden fishing and a small house and more. We probably didn't see all of the museum because it was massive and very entertaining. There's also a gift shop. The bad: There were workers monitoring almost every area that intimidated my daughter and made her not want to go explore some of the areas. The areas were closed off with gates or ropes and you couldn't access until you checked in with the workers. The interesting: We couldn't see the garden exhibit because they told us they don't have English translators to give us the information.

Yelp
A great spot to check out with young kids, especially when it's hot outside. Most of the experiences are timed and have instructional leaders guiding the kids through the session. Only in Spanish. There are lots of exhibits in the museum Downstairs: know your body, veterinarian exhibit, legos, cabin, supermarket, science lab. Upstairs: builds of various crafts like an airplane or woodwork, pipes/gears). The theatre is pretty big too and can fit hundreds of people. My only complaint is that it gets pretty hot, especially in the theater.

Yelp
This was such a cute kid's museum! They have so much to do inside for the kids with learning stations, a dome show, inside and outside areas for learning. The only thing is this does not have AC inside. We went when it was hot so we were sweating inside. But overall definitely would come back here if we are in the area!

Yelp
Papalote Museo del Nino is the museum to end all children's museum. It sets the standard HIGH for others. After visiting on a July Tuesday morning with my five-year-old daughter, here's our experience: 1) Exhibits: There are many and trusty maps throughout the space guide you through it. There are interactive exhibits to teach you about the human body, shopping, sciences, and so much more. A few standouts: -The Bubble Room: It's the best I've seen with multiple stations to make giant bubbles and several spots where you can go inside a bubble. -Craft Stations: There are many throughout the museum where staff guide you through the timed activity. You get to keep the craft at the end and they are quality items like a treasure box, a little book that you bind yourself, and ornaments. -Grocery Store: On the bottom floor is a little grocery store filled with items. Kids take a little shopping cart and fill it with ten items. They scan, pay using a fake credit card, and return the items. -Outside Village and Sand Pit: There's a water area and little houses set up as well as a fire truck and sand pit. 2) Space: It's huge, well-marked, clean, and plenty of restrooms and nursing rooms arouind. 3) Price: It was around $10 USD per ticket, which isn't horrible compared to other museums around the world. Kids under two are free. 4) Area: It's in the city's largest park- Chapultepec. Nearby are other museums, trails, public art and so much more.

Yelp
The best kids museum. I have traveled to major cities in the US and Mexico. This one was an awesome experience. The pics on Yelp do not do it justice. The first floor has science related to Mexico. The second level has hands on STEM activities for kids. Older elementary kids would also love this place. They have a great food court also with a variety of food. They have American chains, sushi, tacos, churros, ice cream, crepe, and a yogurt stand. My child loved it. They also have an outdoor multi leveled area with educational gardening activities.

Yelp
El Papalote is a very nice museum near Chapultepec. Our four year old loved this museum! Even though he does not speak Spanish, very fun time, exploring different exhibit. It's unforgettable time because he always talks about it and wants to go back.

Yelp
Beautiful children's museum. A little bit on the expensive side but seeing my kids have a great time was worth it. The burbujas room and the observatory were awesome. Make sure to walk around the campus to see all the exhibits first or you may not be able to tour every section. There are plenty of things to see and do for the little ones. Expect to stay for at least 4 hours here.
