Paper Plane offers a great vibe with a stylish, modern atmosphere, making it a popular spot for drinks. When I visited, I couldn’t help but notice that it felt like a bit of a dating spot, with a lot of single women around, adding to the social buzz. The cocktails were well-crafted and the ambiance had a nice balance between lively and relaxed. Whether you’re out for a casual drink or looking to meet new people, it’s a solid choice for a night out in downtown San Jose.

This was our last stop of bar hopping on a Thursday night. We had some food truck tacos before coming here and we were ready for drinks. Really liked the wall of alcohol. My friend and I started off with a cocktail each. Since we were at Paper Plane, I really wanted it so I got a Paper Plane and my friend had a Rajon Rondo. I liked the Paper Plane. We then saw several interesting Laphroaig bottles so we switched to a little Scotch tasting. After we selected 5 bottles to look at, our bartender brought them down from the wall and we examined them further. We selected 3 Laphroaig Cairdeas (different years) for tasting. They were fabulous. We went back to cocktails before we ended the night. I chose a Coco Suave and my friend got the Smuggler’s Haunt. I can’t remember the flavor, but I’m sure it was tasty. Yea, I’d definitely go back there. This was my favorite bar that night in San Jose.

Went to paper plane on a Tuesday evening and found a table instantly. It was pretty full already but I can image it would get more even more crowded during the weekends. They do not accept reservations (unless you have a party greater than 12). Cocktails were incredible. They had a cute little chart that described the experience for each cocktail. Food was pretty good too and came out quick. We got the truffle fries, Brussel sprout tacos, koji wings and chicken lettuce wraps. Will definitely be returning when we’re in San Jose next.

Been here plenty of times for just cocktails but saw an ad on IG that they have a Prime Rib dinner special on Tuesdays. Usually I’m wary of these random food specials but the wife and I decided to just give it a shot. Pretty solid prime rib with au jus and horseradish, mashed potatoes, and corn. You do have to buy a drink with the meal but that’s not an issue being that you’re at a craft bar, so there’s great options. We’ll be back.

Drinks were great tasting, food was passable and overall vibes were nice. Limited food options though. The bathroom was super clean as well.

If you’ve read my other reviews you know I’m a no frills girlie; let the ingredient shine. I went for happy hour and drinks… I wish I hadn’t had a dinner reservation. The oysters came just plain with fixings on the side (wish they would have included horseradish and hot sauce) and the wings were PERFECTLY fried. The cocktails and the expertise of the bartenders is also a huge selling pint of this place

My partner and I went to Paper Plane on a Saturday with our friends, and it was impressive. We got there around 11 p.m., and it was crowded. The bartenders were quick and efficient, so we didn't have to wait long to get drinks. We were able to get some seats on the patio. We split a plate of chips and guacamole, which was really satisfying. We all had an amazing time, and the drinks were tasty.

I came here multiple times and the experiences were pretty good. There are table tops, booths, an alcove, long communal tables so great for happy hour but! the food isn't great and rather expensive so I recommend you stick to the cocktails. The drinks are okay. There are some creative ones but they don't taste that cohesive. For example, I had a Thai tea cocktail with coconut cream and it tasted super sour like milk gone wrong. There is a bouncer at the front who checks ID rather than having you show ID to the bartender so that is efficient of them. There is sometimes a line on busy nights.

Great bar in the middle of downtown SJ! We went around 5:30pm on a Saturday and it was not too crowded, we were easily able to find seats. We ordered the punches on tap - the Don't tell mom and Where there's smoke, there's fire. Both were good but I liked the don't tell mom more. We left around 7pm and it was starting to get busier then. I love the ambiance of Paper Plane! It is a great hang out spot and I will definitely return.

We heard paper planes has steak dinners for only $20 (with a purchase of a cocktail) on Tuesdays and decided to stop to check it out! We came at 5:30 PM and were seated right away. Surprisingly it didn't get that much busier when we were there, but I would still recommend coming earlier as I heard some people had to wait for a while. We ordered the cocktails and prime rib from the bar and the drinks were made on the spot. We still needed to wait for the prime rib to come out. The prime rib was soft and so tender. I really enjoyed the corn and mash potato's as well. The flavors all went well together. It was definitely worth the price. Be aware that the prime rib would come out as medium rare. You could request for a longer cook, but I was told that was not a guarantee. The bar has a very classy atmosphere and is definitely a good place for a date night!

We had a fantastic dinner at Paper Planes in downtown San Jose! We went on a Tuesday and took advantage of their $20 prime rib deal when you order a drink--an incredible value. The ambiance was perfect for a relaxed evening out; it's lively yet not too loud, so it was easy to chat without raising our voices. The prime rib was perfectly cooked, tender, and packed with flavor. The sides--corn and mashed potatoes--were good but a touch too buttery for my taste. We also ordered the chicken wings, which arrived fresh and crispy. They leaned a bit salty but paired beautifully with our cocktails. The guacamole was another highlight; it was seasoned perfectly and served in a large portion. We opted for chicharrones instead of chips, which was a fun twist that added some great texture. Now, the cocktails were where Paper Planes really shined! The Long Patrol was amazing, especially the chai foam on top, which was hands-down the best thing I had all night--I still think about it. We also tried the Spice of Life, which had a refreshing, bold cucumber flavor. Both drinks were well-balanced, strong, and brought out the best in the food. Paper Planes has a unique and welcoming vibe with delicious food and creative drinks that make it well worth a visit!

Paperplane now has $19.99 prime rib deals on Tuesdays! With a purchase of a cocktail, but all good since happy hour is 5-7 PM anyways. I really enjoyed their prime rib. I thought for the size and how good it was, it was such a great deal!! It was super delicious, and it also comes with mashed potatoes and corn. Horseradish was also a plus since it was actually really good and spicy. I would totally come back here again on Tuesdays. Super worth it!

Before, if you told me we are eating at Paper Planes, I would be quite puzzled. Why? It's a bar with bar food. Boy am I wrong! I can't stop thinking about their truffle fries and wings now. Fries are perfectly crisp and well seasoned. The wings are hot and super crispy. I have been to Paper Planes for their drinks countless of times but only 3 times for the food. But the last two times have been extremely memorable. The only thing I dislike is trying to flag down a bartender to just order the food. But overall, quick delivery, fresh tasting, and nice service.

Stoped by on a Tuesday night for the prime rib deal for $19.99. We usually come here for the drinks but the food was surprisingly pretty delicious. When you enter, you pay for your order at the bar and afterward, go find a table with your number. We totally forgot to grab our drinks and went straight to seat. We decided to sit outside in the back and it was pretty nice ambiance because they have string lights outside. The server came with our food fairly quick. The portion of the prime rib is pretty big! I had a hard time finishing. I got the berry blossom and it was on the sweeter side.

Dude, San Jose can't be underestimated. There are some good options here to eat and drink including some cool speakeasies. Paper Plane is one of those cool options. The ambiance, food, bar and vibe were all very good. I especially liked the lighting and the bar area set up. This could be a popular spot in downtown SF or some other hipster area. The burger and koji wings were surprisingly delicious.

Admittedly, I have only been here for drinks on multiple occasions. I have yet to try the food from their restaurant side. I will say that I have heard that their food is pretty good. On busy nights it can be hard to get bartenders' attention. Just have to make sure that you make your way up to the edge of the bar and make your presences known. It's clear that the bar staff is used to the high volume and they are very good at serving everyone in a fair order. Another thing that Paper Plane does a great job with is decorating for the season! They always make it a point to deck out their bare to match the season. It's almost worth the visit just to see the decorations! This remains one of my favorite bars to visit when I'm hanging out with friends downtown.

They had me at weekend happy hour! We stopped by before a show at the performing arts center. We arrived shortly after they opened at 5pm on Saturday night. The place filled up within 30 minutes. I see why. Immediately upon arrival, I placed our order at the bar and found a spacious booth. Our food and drinks were ready within ten minutes of sitting down. The staff were efficient and friendly. The wings were so yummy! Piping hot, flavorful, crunchy on the outside and moist on most on the inside. Empanadas were also delish. Weekend happy hour drink are always a bonus. Would definitely come back when we're in the area.

I've been here quite a few times and had a pleasant experience every time! The ambiance is nice, bartenders are friendly, drinks are good (bit pricy but hey it's 2024, what isn't pricy?) the truffle fries are also really good! I highly recommend coming here during the Christmas season to see their decorations, they always do a fantastic job making the place festive

Mixed review here but solid overall. Tuesday is $20 Prime Rib so expect crowds to be packing the place, or little did I know. Happy Hours menu has drink and bite specials, but they don't pair with prime rib. Service is great. Bar staff are efficient so order and get a number after paying. Then find a spot wherever you can. I lucked out with one at the bar. My old fashioned had a large ice cube heat branded for a touch. The prime rib was thin and not great but the mash and corn was better! I'd come back to try other items and definitely drinks. Their whiskey selection is solid. Enjoy!

Can't believe I haven't written this review sooner! I have love, love, loved paper planes. I've been coming here since I moved back to San Jose back in 2021 and I love that they are getting the recognition they deserve. If anyone knows me, they know I am always talking about how much I love this bar. The drinks here are so good, staff is lovely, and now with the addition of the new menu items, what more can you ask for! I also love that they have an outdoor patio now, it opens up more seating. My favorite drinks here are Spice of Life and Paper Plane! However almost every drink I've tried has been good so I can't complain. The truffle fries and wings are my go to order and I can't wait to try all the new food items!

Came with a group for the $20 prime rib Tuesday deal (with a purchase of a cocktail, which costs around $14-$16) and you got a great night. Add in the truffle fries and the cracker wings and you have a nice party filler! At the front, security will check for ID to make sure you're old enough to come in (so probably not accessible for under 21 y/o). Once in its helterskelter to find tables and seating (first come first serve). So for finding a table for 7 was no small task. It's quite deep and there's back door patio seating so patience is key. Once you look at the menu, both paper and QR are available, you just head to the bar and order food and drinks. They'll give you a little number which you place on your table area. I will definitely say the mixology and sides are the highlight. We all ordered our own drinks and I must say nothing disappointed. Everything was mixed and balanced well and nothing overpowers the other. They balance all things nicely. I recommend Skytree Highball, Don't Tell Mom, Stormbreaker, and for party shots, our friend got us Ichigo. Touching on the sides, the fries and cracker wings are super crispy and fresh off the fryer. The seasonings are well adjusted and so every bite was a crunch delight and delicious. On to the main event. The cream corn and mashed potatoes were hot and delicious and made a nice combo to have! Unfortunately the prime rib was lukewarm despite having a nice taste, flavor, au jus and tenderness to it. I think I will come back here for other things, but maybe not the prime rib again. Ultimately, a great place to check out for a night out bar hopping!

I would've never imagined coming to eat dinner at Paper Plane until now. We recently saw on IG that they were doing a $19.99 steak dinner with the purchase of a cocktail on Tuesdays and boy oh boy were we impressed. We are doing an alcohol detox this month and they were nice enough to let us purchase a mocktail instead (which was fantastic btw). The food came out in less than 15min for everything we ordered and it was a really cool vibe overall. We'll definitely be coming back on Tuesdays because in this economy, this is an AMAZING deal

I went barhopping with my friends, and this was the bar that we started the night with. We had a great time here! Each of the drinks tasted and look fantastic! The range of drinks that they have is amazing - they have something for everyone - sweet, fruity, creamy, smoky etc. The appetizers were also great too! Both the ambience and service were fantastic as well! It's a great, casual place to grab drinks and hang out with friends. They do check IDs at the entrance to make sure you're of legal age. We grabbed the table and then ordered at the bar counter. They have additional outside seating in the back.

I had been to paper plane before during the Christmas pop up "Miracle" which is always fun and great vibes, but this was my first time coming in outside of the holidays. I will say it is always busy, so trying to get someone's attention is a bit tricky! I'd been hearing a lot about this prime rib deal they have on Tuesdays. With the purchase of a regular priced cocktail you get a prime rib dinner with side of mashed potato, and greens for $20. I was a bit skeptical at first thinking "prime rib at a bar?" But boy was I surprised! The portion size was great but the food itself? AMAZING!!! I also went during happy hour and got some oysters (very fresh), and truffle crab deviled eggs (great flavor). I'll definitely be coming back and introducing other folks.

Paper Plane is a quintissential stop in a night out in San Jose. I've come here a handful of times throughout the year, and their drinks are always interesting which tasty food selections and a unique chart/map that helps you figure out what you want to order. It has nice vibes and a spacious atmosphere. The food service is friendly and fast. Ordering with a bartender can be tricky on crowded days but it hasn't been a huge problem. It's always a go-to spot for the holidays too since it gets decked out in decorations. It's funny because the security has to check everyone's bags for cup theft around this time. Food recommendations (last call is 11pm): Crispy Koji Wings (Mary's Free Range Chicken Wings, Koji & Sweet Potato Shōchū Batter, Five Pepper + Salt, Lime) - The BEST thing here. It's perfectly crispy, nice in size, and has awesome flavor. I'm a huge fan of give spice. The batter is just the right amount. Mushroom Empanadas (King Trumpet Mushrooms, Garlic, Caramelized Onions, Asiago, House-made Empanada Dough, Chipotle Aioli) - I'm also a big fan of mushrooms. The bread is soft and I wish it was packed more with filling, but it's still nice for carbs. Comes with 3. I would save the dip for this for fries too. Truffle fries - They're good fresh but over time, it becomes too oily for my taste. Regular fries - I would just go with these. Those are perfectly crispy too, and I think they are beer battered. Medium thickness. Served with ketchup. Drink recommendations: There's pretty much something for everyone here. I prefer lighter liquors (vodka, gin instead of darks) and fruity/semi-sweet flavors. I recently got The Long Patrol which has a sweet, creamy foam top that complements the tart drink on the bottom. The Amba Mamba tastes like curry since the fenugreek is so strong, but I like how unique it was! You can't go wrong with their punches and be careful of their shooters because you can down so many so easily. The menu changes every time I'm here and I usually go for things that are complex, of which there are lots of things here. Overall it's a staple I'll frequent on nights out in San Jose!

4.5/5! We arrived at 5:30, and man was there a line! We waited probably 45minutes to get in and then you will need to find your own table!! After you find a seat, you'll need to order both food and drinks at the bar. To get the happy hour prime rib, you'll need to purchase a drink of $12 or more. Good news is, service was so fast. The bartender put my order in and started making our four drinks. When he handed me the drinks, all of our food was already at our table... this happened literally within 5 minutes, CRAZY! Truffle fries: loved the dusted cheese on it, generous portions. Medium sized fries, nice and crispy Oysters: friend said they were smaller than most but super yummy, great value #5 coconut coco suave: smoking coconut flavor, pretty strong! Refreshing with a kick Prime ribs: the cuts aren't very thick, so the entire meal is very manageable in one sitting. We loved the mashed potatoes with the creamed spinach. The au jus complimented the meat nicely, it was t dry at all! The only confusion was the white sauce, which you'd assume is horseradish.. all four of us at the table couldn't taste the kick of horseradish so we are fairly certain it is sour cream haha. Didn't stop us from eating it! We will most definitely be back for drinks and prime rib Tuesdays! Also looking forward to trying their thurs-sat bbq specials

I came here in December when Paper Plane turns into Miracle on 1st Street which is a fun Christmas pop-up bar! They decorate the entire bar in holiday decor and cocktails are served in Christmas mugs! We came as part of a Christmas bar hop night, prior to coming here we went to 55 South (Sippin' Santa) across the street which was also fun. Here I ordered the Marshmallows & Unicorn cocktail which was served in a unicorn mug! I had such a blast! Super fun! Highly recommend it to get in the holiday spirit! I'll for sure be returning when Miracle on 1st Street comes back!

I came here twice for their Tuesday Prime Rib $19.99 with a drink purchase. 6-8oz Prime rib was delicious with a side of corn, mashed potatoes, horseradish and au jus. This is a fantastic way to relax on a Tuesday evening. Cocktails selection is HUGE. They are handcrafted and very creative. I only wished the steaks were bigger. Service is extremely nice and fast. You'll have to order by walking up the bar and you'll get a number for the buzzers to deliver food your way. They have an outside patio to enjoy outside. The bar can get loud. 21+ only, so leave the kiddos at home. They have a bouncer in front. Inside is really clean and decorative. Eat and drink merrily here.

Prime rib Tuesdays for $19.99 with drink?! Heck yes! I think the meat was worth the price. It comes with mash potatoes and corn. Their horseradish sauce was pretty good with it. I recommend ordering the fries as it was super crispy. The oysters were pretty good. Apparently they have happy hour, but we missed it. Paper planes have great drinks, so you can't go wrong there. I enjoy coming here at night with friends because of the vibe. Service is great as they are attentive.

This cocktail bar has been a favorite since I live in the area. The bar gives off a nice vibrant and relaxed atmosphere for drinks and socializing! When you walk in, you'll see an impressive collection of liqueurs and spirits displayed on the wall. They probably have every bottle that you could possibly think of. The service here is really quick on weekdays and a bit busy on weekends. I came in on a Sunday night around 9:30 pm with some friends and it was pretty empty. Luckily we were able to grab a seating in the back room. The back room is super spacious and it can easily fit 12-15 people if you have a large party with you! I got the Little Lad and my partner picked out the Gleaming The Cubes. Our drinks were really pretty and aesthetically pleasing to look at. My drink was said to be fairly sweet but it was actually stronger than I expected. My partner had the sweeter drink so I traded with him hehe I'm not much of a drinker but if and when I do drink, I like my drinks on the sweeter side! I would recommend these two if you like sweet cocktails :P

We ordered a couple of drinks and some food on a Friday evening! We ordered the sticky Korean wings, mushroom empanadas and the truffle fries. OMG the truffle fries were amazing!!! My friends liked their drinks - but I ordered spice of life and I had to go for another one just because it was so refreshing and so good!

Cocktails, but with a festive holiday twist! Definitely feels like Christmas is near once you're in here. It's a whole vibe! Waited about 25 minutes in line to get in on a chilly Thursday evening but it went by pretty fast. It's funny how they check your bags before leaving instead of entering to make sure no one stole any of the holiday drink-ware. Drinks: *Christmas Cricket: minty chocolate coco pandan bliss, heavy on the tequila & vanilla liqueur *Yippee Ki Yay Mother F****r! Rum, ube, coconut, pineapple goodness *Koala Cooler: refreshing & slightly fruity with apple brandy, aquavit, blanc vermouth, lime, mint, eucalyptus, celery, topped with soda. Not heavy at all. *Hot Buttered Rum: warm, creamy sweet, & soothing, like sipping on hot eggnog *Passion Fruit Mocktail for DD I should've gotten the Koala Cooler! Cricket was yum but too strong, ended up sipping on a friend's Yippee Ki Yay with all the ice pebbles. Bartender was attentive and answered our questions. Staff does a good job at monitoring the amount of people going in so it never felt stuffy or crowded. We ordered drinks at the bar in less than five minutes and watched the craftsmanship. Stop on by for all the holiday feels! They've got all the right tunes and even Christina Aguilera's It's Christmas Time, which is on my Christmas playlist. No shortage of Mariah, of course.

I've heard many great things about this bar and it certainly did not disappoint. The interior is super spacious as well. As I kept walking to the back of the bar looking for seats, I was surprised to discover a gorgeously decorated backspace. Since I was feeling a bit tired I ordered the day walker and it was super delicious. Very coffee forward, and a bit sweet as well. My favorite drink of the night has to be the little lad, a rum forward drink sweetened with condensed milk and given a lustrous color from fresh strawberries. If you're a fan of rum and fun drinks, definitely get the little lad and have a grand time at paper planes! Also if you're hungry they do serve food as well. We didn't get anything ourselves but the prime rib seems interesting lol

Sure, Paper Plane is cute, relatively large, and supposedly has the best cocktails in south bay. But personally, I've never had something I loved here. Whether from their specialty drinks, holiday drink, happy hour, or food menu, absolutely nothing has been a 5/5 in the many times I've visited. Drinks are always a tad off. Too sweet, too sour, mismatched mixers, etc. Food is pretty lackluster. Gastropub dishes that might be plated in a cute way, but very mediocre. It gets so crowded inside and security guards are constantly telling you where you can and can't stand, so it somewhat ruins the vibe. For this reason, I barely come here anymore. It's super cute to check out during the holidays - but only if the lines short and it's not your main stop.

This place is best known for their delicious cocktails, for which they have a changing menu. Bad news is, no alterations to drinks, and no drinks offered at the venue besides what's listed on the Christmas menu (that's what the bartender told us this past weekend)... unfortunately, that makes their offerings quite limited, even with how creative a few of the drink specials are. We got the Yippee Ki Yay Mother F****r! and Elfing Around #2 and thought they were pretty good. But I guess the appeal of this place at this time is more so the lovely festive environment, not only in the bar area, but seemingly every inch of space in the venue, on the walls and ceilings, including inside the mini room attached to the main dining area... the theme being Miracle on 1st Street. The waits to order food/drinks at the bar were a bit long (the three bartenders were not nearly enough for the crowd on this Sunday evening in December). And there's a good amount of seating inside, including booths, bar height tables, and a community table, but not much available, even in the early evening on a Sunday. We eventually got a table, and enjoyed dinner here (the chicken lettuce wrap, truffle fries, and mushroom empanadas were all quite delicious). But the fries and mix for the chicken lettuce wrap were a bit salty, and we asked for utensils from the server when our food was brought to our table (since they didn't provide these at the bar), and by the end of our meals, we never got any utensils... so the service here is definitely lacking. In short... pricey drinks (along with pricey souvenir glasses as an option), food with good flavor but on the salty side, beautiful decor and twinkling lights during the holiday season. 5 stars for the Christmas spirit in December, 3 stars for the value and overall experience.

Great drinks and ambiance but wow is the line LONG. I visited Thursday night for the Christmas pop up, Miracle on 1st Street. I was lucky enough to only wait about 30-40 minutes, but by the time I left around 10pm, the line had doubled. It was definitely a struggle to find chairs, so good luck to you! The staff and service was good. They also have security roaming around to keep an eye out. The decorations are gorgeous and I could definitely feel the holiday spirit seeping in! My favorite drink was the Koala Cooler, which has apple, mint and soda in it. It's a carbonated drink and was quite sweet, which I enjoyed. You also get to keep the koala! I was not expecting for the fries to hit but the fries were GOOD. Love to see it! I recommend coming earlier to avoid lines. If you visit during Christmas week, you'll probably be in for a long wait.

I typically come to paper plane for drinks after 10pm on weekends + when they have holiday decor and drinks during Xmas but this time I came on Tuesday for their $20 prime rib special. They have happy hr from 5-7 but we came at 7. It was packed and you'll have to wait until a table opens. Order at the bar line first and get a number cuz it will take awhile. Note that you need to buy a cocktail for the dinner special which comes out to about ~$40pp after tax and tip! It was a small cut but comes with sides of mashed potatoes and creamed spinach.

What a steal!! I arrived around 5:30 PM and waited about an hour for the food to come out. They also have happy hour from 5-7 PM, offering great bites like truffle fries and oysters I had a reasonable cut of the prime rib and it was paired with mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and au jus sauce. It was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday, likely due to the prime rib deal. It was excellent value, and I would definitely return!

I'm very impressed in the quality of their cocktails. I got the Mötley Lüe and it was delicious. You can taste the different flavors in the drink and they all mix well together. My group ordered other drinks and they enjoyed it as well. The ambiance is very chill and allows you to be socialable with your group. This place can get busy and there will be a line outside, especially during the Winter holidays. It is hard to get a table if you come late.

Came here for Happy Hour (everyday from 5 pm-7 pm) on a Saturday in January. It was obviously not as crowded as on a late weekend, but still lively! I ended up sharing truffle fries with my friend and getting one of their punches on draft. For about $31 after tip for 2 drinks and fries? SO worth it. Service: 3.5/5 Drink: 4.5/5 Atmosphere: 3/5

Love this spot during the holidays to meet up with friends. Miracle on 1st is a pop up that takes over the day before Thanksgiving. I was able to make it on opening night and meet Santa. Overall a wonderful experience and a very cheerful vibe, with everyone dressed up and all the decor. Favorite specialty drinks include the spiced butter rum, and koala cooler. I was not a fan of the Krampus one. The mezcal in it took over the drink and was super smoky. One downside is the limited food menu. We planned to spend a few hours here and enjoy dinner but they only offer light snacks and burgers, which is different than previous years. Another downside is the security. Understandable that they want to ensure nobody is over drinking or causing trouble but they are quite hostile and very intimidating, constantly floating around tables and staring you down.

SUPER AGGRESSIVE BOUNCERS. Would give negative stars if I could. @ Paper Planes Management: I went and looked at every single one of your recent bad reviews and they all corroborate the power trip your "bouncers" are going on by targeting innocent people. NOT A GOOD LOOK! The "bouncers" pushed my friend onto the ground because they were trying to defend me after the bouncers took one of my personal items?? I told them it wasn't from the bar (I brought a plant in as a new years prop)-- I tried reasonably explaining to them that it wasn't theirs (the bar doesn't even have plants, so it literally couldn't be "theirs") and the bouncers got super defensive and refused to give me back the property that they stole from me. Then they started shoving APOLOGETIC GIRLS for no reason. They shoved me (I am literally just a short girl ) and grabbed my phone and threw it onto the ground. Wish I had more proof or documentation, but they chucked my phone at the time... :-|

We stopped by Paper Planes for some drinks before dinner. It's a great spot to kill time plus they have happy hour everyday (pitchers and finger foods). There's a mix of booths and tables for larger parties. We ordered the: *Little Lad (rum, strawberry, condensed milk): pretty sweet and tart *Spice of Life (gin, cucumber soda, tajin): also not very alcohol forward, but tasted like a carbonated cucumber water There's a variety of other cocktails and beers and they have a huge selection of alcohols displayed. It's nearby other venues in Downtown San Jose so would be a fun spot to bar hop.

A fun cocktail bar in DTSJ -- mostly just reviewing the holiday pop-up but have been here other times too and it's always a nice time! The bartenders are efficient and they have a ton of spirits to choose from. I wish there were more spaces to sit, because staff are constantly clearing the corridors. There are tables along the back and booths on the side! The holiday pop up was fun -- they featured tons of new decor and themed drinks. The drinks were... ambitious. They had a lot going on but we liked some more than others. I'd be curious about coming back for their regular cocktails, which is what they're best known for. It's a staple, so I'll probably be back soon!

The bartenders and service here is absolutely the worst. I'll give it to them for the Christmas decor but other than that, the experience was terrible. I went bar hopping with a large group of friends and we first hit up Paper Plane to avoid the long lines later on in the night and for their decor. Upon entering, you have security guards ushering you to move out of the way and not to block the walkway. This is understandable, but they kept telling my group to move when we were moving and second of all, it was so crowded inside we couldn't move. If you stand still for even a moment, they would start yelling at you and pushing you to move out of the way. The bartender was also really rude and ignored my group. This other guy came along (assumed it was his friend as they gave each other a fist bump) and he proceeded to take his order when my group and others were waiting in line to place our order. Drinks were also overpriced and not that good. I got the Cricket christmas themed drink and every sip was a different taste and not in a good way.

Super cute spot and they really go all out for Xmas. Line is long but it moves fairly well and it doesn't get crowded inside so I appreciate the effort for crowd control. We were able to get a table too. Bad service was slow only bc it's a few days before Xmas and the drinks were Xmas themed! The staff were festive and really put a lot of effort in making the cocktails. We really enjoyed them! I look forward to coming back again w my friends!

I've visited Paper Plane now for Miracle on 1st the last two years, and highly recommend this spot for festive drinks! They have a variety of great tasting drinks in cute cups, and their food is pretty good too, which I'm impressed with given that I find most cocktail bars usually just have a few snacks as more of an afterthought. Paper Plane gets super busy for Miracle on 1st, but the ambiance is really festive with a ton of holiday decor. Though there's usually a line to get in, it goes fairly fast and the wait for food/drinks is pretty reasonable once inside.

It's one of the locations for Miracle pop up bar. The line outside was long when I got here at 6 pm on Thursday night. So plan ahead if you want to come. I was only here for the cocktail. The Snowball old fashioned has the festive snowball look but the cocktail itself was a bit bland for me. The decorations are festive. They had good crowd control inside and outside.

So festive right now. Very nice ambience and great people. You order everything at the bar and grab a number then someone will bring your food to your table. Holiday drinks tasted great unfortunately I did not take any pictures of drinks and foods we ordered since I was busy chitchatting with my friends but deviled egg, fries, wings and guacamole were so good. Btw their guacamole was served with chicharrones!! Yum On street parking can be challenging but don't you worry... there is a paid garage parking opposite to this place which I believe you can validate your ticket.... I forgot to do so so I had to pay $20 for about 2 hours

A really fun spot to come on a weekend night and the bar is beautiful. The cocktails are creative and I love the variety of liquors that they use. Cocktails are classified from light to strong and classic to adventurous which helps you to choose what to order. I loved the skytree highball with shochu and lychee and khaosan spritz with baijiu was great as well! Definitely a good spot to check out with friends!

Came here with a friend for the Xmas holiday spirit drinks. Wasn't to impress with their drinks. The Holiday drinks were "meh" not memorable, and pretty pricey for them not being too good. i would definately had to reconsider coming here.

This is a must to celebrate the Christmas season!!!!! We bought the cups our drinks came in this place had the most amazing attentive bar tenders. I can't remedy the last time I waited in line to get into a bar but it was SO WORTH IT.

I wish there was an option for zero stars. Came here last night to grab a quick drink with my friends, and the experience was horrendous. The bouncer refused to let one of my friends in just because he twitched while handing over his ID due to his Tourette's Syndrome. Instead of handling the situation with any understanding or professionalism, the bouncer just stared at him and flatly said "No." We tried to explain that our friend has a disability, but the bouncer continued to stare and make it an issue. My friend was even willing to overlook the misunderstanding, but the bouncer still denied him entry. We had no choice but to leave. Absolutely disgusted and appalled by this behavior from Paper Plane's staff. This kind of discriminatory and insensitive treatment is unacceptable.

This place is always lively and packed, with well-crafted drinks and a unique menu. The Ichigo shot is a favorite--sweet and smooth. Friendly bartenders add to the great experience. There's a vibrant atmosphere inside, and a more relaxed outdoor section for those who prefer a quieter vibe. The only downside is limited seating, so you might end up standing occasionally, but it's worth it for the overall experience!

Killer cocktails and snacks! Came through for date night drinks & dinner and left full and tipsy! Their happy hour offers discounted punches (on tap) and nibbles. We ordered their bao and a side of fries to start before finishing with their chicken sandwich. I would happily repeat any of the above, as everything was tasty! We started with their happy hour lunch before ending with their signature house cocktails. Their punch was not my thing, but their cocktails were excellent. Their bartenders definitely take time to make each cocktail with love and attention. Would definitely recommend!
