The 16 Best Restaurants in Mountain View - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"This Mexican-Salvadorean food truck operates out of O’Malley’s Sports Pub. Their menu is stacked with taqueria classics like quesadillas, burritos, and queso birria tacos stuffed with slow-cooked beef and served with consommé that’s so good, you’ll want to drink it by itself. Their carnitas are among the best we’ve tried—simultaneously tender with super crispy edges." - gabi moskowitz

Amazing tacos! Especially the carne asada. The food comes out fast and you can eat in the bar (O’malleys) or there are some tables outside. The owner is very nice. Definitely coming back to try more bites here!

Our first time here tonight. I can confidently say Paper Platez is the best Mexican food truck we’ve tried in the Peninsula Bay Area so far! I got the three birria tacos, which were quite a good portion size, and delicious. If you’ve never had birria tacos before, they’re one of my recent favorites. Basically, you get a deep fried taco accompanied by a pork sauce on the side to dip into. They’re not the healthiest option around, but are truly delicious. You have the option to get one for $6, two for $12, or 3 for $15. Paper Platez’s birria tacos are pretty large, so you are getting a good bang for your buck. Four hours later and I’m still feeling pretty full, so I would recommend getting three only if you have a big appetite. Otherwise, I would recommend sticking to two. For my girlfriend, we got a pork papusa and a chicken tamale. The papusa was good - nothing to call home about, but solid. I was excited about the fact the tamale came packaged in a Ziplock bag - authentic, right? 😅 - but it was disappointing. Fairly tasteless. The tamale came with a tomato based salsa on the side, which was also fairly basic & nothing special enough to save this dish. I like to try new places, but will definitely come back here again, and maybe try a super burrito or some of the regular street tacos next time. If you’re looking for tasty, convenient Mexican food in the Peninsula Bay Area, try this spot out. The birria tacos are worth going a little out of your way for. Parking is super easy (we came at 8pm and there was probably 20+ open spots), food came out about 7-10 minutes after ordering, service was friendly and hospitable, and it’s a cool looking truck, as you can see from the photos. If you’re in the area & looking for a Mexican food truck, we definitely recommend this one! Best, Kyle

Google
I was nearby Paper Platez, looking for lunch and thought I would try it! I ordered the surf and turf tacos and they were so good! I couldn't put them down. They had fresh steak, shrimp, grilled onions, and cilantro. These tacos are guaranteed to satisfy your cravings, Paper Platez is a must-try Mexican eatery for anyone in the Mountain View area!

Google
First off, the meat was dry, tough, and completely lacking in flavor—like chewing on shoe leather. Seasoning? Nowhere to be found. The quesadilla didn’t even have enough cheese (the main ingredient!), but was overloaded with tomatoes instead. It was more like a soggy tomato wrap than anything cheesy or satisfying. We ordered: • 1 quesadilla • 3 street tacos • 2 “super” tacos (spoiler: nothing super about them) The total? $41.00 — which would be fine if the food delivered, but it didn’t. Not even close.

Google
What a great find! The tacos were as good as you can find, and the owner is super friendly. Very quick service and seating either outside or in the adjacent pub. Highly recommend - especially the carnitas and the al pastor!

I recently tried Paper Platez for the first time and I was really impressed. I ordered the vegetarian burrito and it was delicious. The burrito was huge and filling, and it was packed with flavor. The beans were cooked perfectly, the rice was fluffy, and the vegetables were fresh and flavorful. The burrito was also served with a side of salsa and guacamole, which were both excellent. The service at Paper Platez was also very friendly and attentive. I asked for extra salsa verde and Rojas for the burrito. I was far too hungry to take any food pictures and I literally inhaled the burrito. Food pictures would be on my agenda next time around.

I went here during my lunch break and got Veg Tacos. They were delicious!!! The 2 dipping sauces that came with it were SO good! I also got Chips and Salsa and these were one of the best I have had. Chips were crunchy with no after-taste and Salsa was fresh & Refreshing. Keep up the quality of your food!!!!

Google
NOTE THAT IT’S INSIDE THE PUB in the back, not the food truck. That was confusing to me at first. This is the best Mexican food in the bay. My dad visited from New Mexico and said it’s the best burrito he’s had in his life. The surf and turf tacos, birria tacos, and burritos are ridiculously amazing

Yelp
Luis my name is Edward, I have you my word to try you're food it was really good. However the service not good. I waited no one greeted me or acknowledged me. The lady cooking the food walked passed me twice before taking my order. I suggest you fix the customer service to have your business thriving. Cheers Ed

Yelp
NOTE: RESTAURANT IS INSIDE THE BAR! I came by once during off-peak hours and thought that Paper Platez was closed because the truck was closed up. I came by again today at lunchtime and saw the banner for the restaurant inside the bar. My fault for not reading the banner the first time but easy to miss if you're expecting a food truck. I read about Paper Platez and its Taqueria La Bamba lineage and had high hopes that they could deliver a pollo asado super burrito the way Taqueria La Bamba could when they were at their original location on Old Middlefield. I got a pollo asado super burrito and added a carne asade super burrito based on the many positive reviews I read. Both were fine but not close to the Taqueria La Bamba burritos I was hoping for. I know my expectations were too high but I was hoping to find the original Taqueria La Bamba burritos that were moist and where the pollo asado had a strong grilled flavor from the well season plancha. The burritos I got today were decent (3-3.5 stars) but a bit dry with almost non-existent char flavor to the meat and slightly crunchy rice... more like the burritos from Taqueria La Bamba after they moved to their Rengstorff location. At $16 each, I don't see myself eating here again unless I happen to be drinking at the bar.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday evening and got 3 of the revuelta pupusas. I was really excited for these as they were kind of expensive ($5 each) so I was hoping these would be really good. However, the first thing I noticed was that they were really oily. I had to blot them with a napkin. When I cut into the pupusa, I couldn't tell if there was pork in it as it was really mushy and mixed inside. The red sauce was just okay in my opinion as well as it wasn't very flavorful and didn't really do anything. I heated up the pupusas the next day as well and had to throw them out bc the oil was too overwhelming. Overall, I was kind of disappointed with my experience here. Not sure I'd come back here but if I do I would try another item on the menu and wouldn't get the pupusas again.

Yelp
Love this place for a quick lunch on my lunch break or while drinking at O'Malleys. Love the super quesadillas!!

Yelp
Located at (or I guess inside) O'Malley's pub, this unassuming Mexican place has great burritos. Service was easy and quick and you can order ahead of time for convenient pickup. The price is solid for Mexican food in this area and the taste and quantity of food is perfect. Definitely one of my go-to places for burritos in the PA/MV/LA area.

Yelp
Taco truck... Dive Bar... line of hungry people... The tacos were excellent. Nice crisp on the carnitas. However, I nearly broke a tooth on a large bone fragment hiding in the carnitas. Otherwise, excellent tacos.

Yelp
I'll start off with what a genius idea to have a mexican food truck on the same lot as a pub. There is another food truck a couple blocks down and a store front taqueria in the plaza next door, but I've only gone to Paper Platez. Ambiance - there are two outdoor tables next to the food truck with 4 benches and shade . Service - The people are nice and super friendly. Food - I've tried the carne asada super burrito, birria tacos, tacos, and chips. All were good. My wife loves the birria tacos. They're even good when you re-warm leftovers in an air fryer.

Yelp
Wowzers! They need a sixth star! This little food truck has a lot of big flavor. It is so good that I didn't want to give this review because, then EVERYONE would come over here and the lines would be too long! But I really love the food, and I can't wait to try their other offerings! THEY HAVE PUPUSAS!!! Yaaaaay! After many other of my favorite Salvadoran places that served pupusas closed down soon after the pandemic, I was afraid that no others would replace them. Along comes Paper Platez and I am blown away. I went straight for the Salvadoran menu, naturally, and ordered the pork papusas and a Salvadoran tamale. If you never had a papusas, it is a stuffed pancake made with maize and stuffed with meat, beans, cheese or loroco or a combination with cheese. It is delicious! But here, the outside was crispy! A CRISPY PAPUSAS?? YES!! And it works!! It really fired off my saliva glands, it was so flavorful! I had some room for my tamale, and the first bite was sinfully good. The look on my face looked like I just . . . use your imagination here . . . But I was in heaven! It takes something really special food-wise to make me cry with joy. The texture was ultra creamy and just melted in my mouth! The flavor of the meat and the seasoned maize (and this, I think, contributed to the umami here). This had to be one of, if not the most delightful, memorable, delicious eating experience I have had in ages. Highly recommended. Paper Platez is deliciously open from 11:00am and closes at 9:00pm. I am going there again to try some of their other delicacies!

Yelp
Freshly cooked food, either inside the bar or outside at the food truck depending on time of day. We watched them cook it right after we ordered so it's definitely fresh! Served on paper plates as the name suggests. Large portions of meat, we got a shrimp super burrito and a fish quesadilla and both had a nice portion of well cooked seafood. Maybe a little pricey, $16 for a burrito and $16 for a quesadilla but definitely filling and delicious. Planning to come back here for take out or dine in since it's near where I often work out
google avatar

Yelp
Place was manned by two people in the back of a bar. Food truck outside was empty. Food was good but not the best mexican food, especially for the high price.
google avatar

Ronette B.

Yelp
Decided to give this food truck a try. It didn't disappoint. I had the nachos with carnitas, it's all about the chips that make a good nacho. The chips have to stand up to the toppings without getting soggy. The carnitas were moist and delicious. My lunch date had a burrito and that was just as tasty. We had a tres Leche cake/pie that was really good. Makes me want to go back just for that. Give them a try - won't disappoint

Yelp
Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great service and great food! Best in the area hands down. Ivan was more than happy to help me when it came to his recommendations and he has a great positive energy

Shruti P.

Yelp
Great, comforting food - the veggie burrito is simple but delicious! We usually call to order, and it is ready pretty quick - really nice person at the window. It is inside an Irish pub that I haven't seen being super busy, but they have pool tables and darts.
google avatar

Alejandro C.

Yelp
Pretty solid truck ! Love how it's next to a bar , easy access to drinks and food . Only complaint was the tortillas were cold and didn't taste to well . The meats were great ! Loved the Birria and the service was quick !

Khoa N.

Yelp
Ordered a super burrito through DoorDash for pick up. When I got there 20 minutes later they didn't start even making the order yet and asked me to wait 10 minutes to make the order. Then made me the wrong order with a regular burrito.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
The absolute best carnitas super burrito I have ever had! Not to mention they also make papusas.
google avatar

Phwuffie K.

Yelp
An authentic taco truck that serves everything from burritos to pupusas! My family was craving tacos so we drove over and ordered Beef Quesa Birria Tacos, Pupusas, Al Pastor tacos, and Carnitas tacos. All of the food was juicy, flavorful, and slightly crispy--which really hit the spot! All in all, this is an excellent place to eat some authentic Mexican food!
google avatar

Victor N.

Yelp
The birria tacos here are really good. They hit the spot and taste delicious. The tacos come pre sauced so there's no need to dip them. I would recommend this spot to satisfy your birria taco cravings. The super taco was a bit too stuffed and overwhelmed the taco flavor. The regular tacos were decent.

Ryan P.

Yelp
Incorrect hours. Drove up to the truck and they're closed despite Yelp and Instagram showing that they're open

Yelp
Delicious, fast and perfect for ordering to go. I've tried basically all the different meats and they are all superb.

Yelp
I absolutely love this food truck, it's one of my consistent go-tos in the Mountain View area when I want something fast, delicious, and affordable. They were known as Taqueria La Bamba up until recently, and thankfully the food has remained amazing despite the rebranding. My favorite item to order is their beef quesa birria tacos, they're just the right amount of fried, savory goodness especially when paired with the consome. They also offer street tacos, pupusas, and burritos, and their prices are very reasonable. You can place to-go orders online ahead of time or enjoy your food at one of the little tables they have next to the truck. Since they're parked right outside of O'Malley's Pub, I've also seen customers go in for drinks and have their tacos delivered inside the pub.
google avatar

Scott P.

Yelp
This is a nice food truck in the parking lot of an Irish pub. They have outdoor tables with shade tents over them, which is very nice. The food is pretty good, and I'm happy to come here regularly!

Dolf S.

Yelp
Hmm. Ordered online 25 min ago and was told ready in 30. Showed up and.... Kitchen not busy at all, ie nothing being prepared Nd my food not ready. They looked at their iPad (must have been first time in 25 min) and then started preparing. If I could take the tip away (already paid when ordering) I would. We've been customers of these folks since their burrito Real days. Steady decline. Do this one more time and it will be over.
google avatar

Yelp
Went here for lunch twice and will definitely keep coming back. The gentleman taking my order is always very polite and friendly when I come. The first time I got a shrimp burrito which was packed and flavorful and had lots of shrimp in it. Definitely sold me and made me come back for more! The second time I got some asada tacos and shrimp tacos. They were SO GOOD, very flavorful and I thought they were slightly bigger than the street tacos. Packed with meat too! The salsa verde is amazing and always hits the spot too, very flavorful. Price was a little high for me, but worth it. One of the best taco trucks in the area. Parking isn't too hard either, I've never had issues finding parking during lunch time. Most people take their food togo, but they have a few tables and chairs set up for those wanting to eat there. Gives it a cozy taco truck vibe.
google avatar

Danit B.

Yelp
Great food truck! They recently catered an event at our elementary school. Leo is super organized and a fast communicator. Food was awesome, they moved the line quickly, and handled the rush with ease. Can't wait to hire them again for other events!

Yelp
I used to LOVE Taqueria La Bamba back in the day, and it was one of the OG taquerias located in Mountain View. I was super excited to see that the son of the Taqueria La Bamba owners recently opened a food truck, and wanted to give it a try right away. Their menu is concise, and they have the basics: tacos, super tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and nachos. They also have pupusas available, which I thought was cool to see. Their proteins include Carne Asasda, Pollo Asado, Carnitas, Al Pastor, Birria, Grilled Fish, and Grilled Shrimp, and vegetarian options are also available. Unfortunately, my order wasn't reminiscent of the food I remember from Taqueria La Bamba. Since they're a new food truck, they could still be working out the kinks, and I would come back at a later point to give them another try. It was only about 10 minutes for an order placed around 3:30pm on a Friday, and they are parked in the lot in front of O'Malleys Sports Pub. I tried: -Carne Asada Super Burrito (Rice, Salsa Fresca, Guacamole, Sour Cream, Cheese, $11.93, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ODSpYcveJCiiYYG3ZOy_2w&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): This was a hefty super burrito, but their carna asada didn't have much flavor. It didn't have that sear/char from the grill, but they didn't skimp on the meat. The rice was also on the bland side, and I couldn't taste the salsa fresca. -Quesabirria Taco (Fried Tortilla Topped w/Melted Cheese, Onions, Cilantro, Salsa Verde, Birria, Consume Dipping Sauce, $4.36, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=sWtnLb7kqlVlIUfGQsqVfw&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Yum- this was my favorite dish and their birria was done well. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the taco was super cheesy. I also liked the subtle spice of the consume. I just wished the fried tortilla was a little crispier, since it didn't have that sear/crust that I've really liked on other quesabirria tacos. However, still recommended! -Taco w/Al Pastor ($3.44, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=4KXlgpPvGqoCoTgaJbHGlQ&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Not my favorite. The taco shell was falling apart/mealy by the time I ate it, and the al pastor was dry and lacking flavor. I liked the spicy salsa, and this taco was a sizable portion, but I wouldn't order their al pastor again. I forgot to ask if they had an orange salsa available, and only received one type of salsa with my order. It was slightly spicy, but very thin in consistency and there wasn't much flavor aside from the spice. I would return for their quesabirria tacos, and to try their carnitas and grilled shrimp in a taco or burrito. I hope they continue improving on their dishes, and get back to the level of Taqueria La Bamba!
google avatar

Jaimie A.

Yelp
OMG the Pupusas are so good. The perfect snack / side dish. Honestly, everything we've had from here has been great. The burrito had a perfect grill crunch on the outside and super flavorful on the inside. One time we got a tamale and it was a bit dry, but otherwise, everything is bomb.
google avatar

Kyle W.

Yelp
google avatar

Amo M.

Yelp
Best carnitas ever, period. Love how they fry the carnitas on the grill to give it that crispness on the edges. Can't get enough of their carnitas, no other place we've been to makes them as well. We get them in a regular burrito and although I am a huge fan of salsas, this Carnitas burrito tastes so good I don't want to put anything on it that will distract from the wonderful taste and texture. Their pupusas are also delicious, but the carnitas burritos remain our favorite.
google avatar

S C.

Yelp
Visited twice when Yelp says they are open and they were not open. Called twice and no answer twice.
google avatar

Mr R.

Yelp
I came here because I read that this truck is related to the great La Bamba spot that was forced out of their original location for government affordable housing, so I went to paper platez and ordered the super burrito, it was decent but nothing close to La Bamba. Wasn't even wrapped the same.
google avatar

Shark T.

Yelp
Paper Platez! I can only speak for their Carnitas burrito because I've been getting the same order for over 15 years since they were known as La Bamba. But the pork is crispy on the outside, soft in the middle and the flavor is just amazing. I will drive 20 miles out of my way just to come for this burrito! Oh, and I always get two super burritos -one for the next day. Otherwise I will miss it! Recommended!
google avatar

Ps N.

Yelp
Enough food for the price and decent quality. The tortilla felt a bit soggy however the meat was quite tasty

Brett H.

Yelp
Been going here with my Dad since it was a restaurant, and we go to the food truck at least once a week. This is our favorite taco and burrito place hands down.
google avatar

Patrick F.

Yelp
This place is a diamond in the rough. If you have the time, swing by and grab some of the best food in the area
google avatar

Aavash S.

Yelp
You can't go wrong with the food in here . The best thing about this place is the quantity. It suffice heavy eater like myself. I normally order Queso Birria Tacos and so far the quality and quantity of food has been excellent . In addition, the employees are very courteous and polite . I would highly recommend this place .
google avatar

Adithya A.

Yelp
One of the best burritos in the south bay, I tried veggie burrito and loved it. Bang for the buck portion sizes.

Yelp
I was lucky to have been able to book Paper Platez for my catering needs. I was able to place my order just a few days before I flew into town to celebrate my Aunts birthday. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Delicious food and exceptional service! I'll be using Paper Platez for my future catering needs. Thank you for providing quality food and for being accommodating!

Yelp
Great food. The food truck guys are really helpful and nice. Service is great and the seating is outside which is clean too.

Yelp
Decent food. Not cheap. order via the online takeout menu. In person, They charged me $5 for items that are 3.44 online.
google avatar

Yelp
They have the best tacos.... haven't had tacos like it since I was a little girl. Thank you for giving me a taste of home.
google avatar

Yelp
Really great food ! Birrea tacos , pupusas, burritos all excellent. And the man , Ivan , super customer service, highly recommended
google avatar

Luis R.

Yelp
The food is delicious! I ordered at least a quarter of the menu lol Ordered: Tacos (Birria, steak, chick), quesadilla, mozzarella sticks, churros and quesa-birria tacos. All of it was good and definitely going back for more. This food truck if the closest place I've ever found that has the best sweet churros around! Reminds me of churros from mexico.
google avatar

Sandhya S.

Yelp
Such a large quantity of food for the price, absolutely great value. We got all vegetarian things, and it was a little bland without the sauces. Red sauce is a very different type of heat than the typical tomato based sauces so be on the lookout for that. We weren't able to order cheese quesadillas online, but when we went to pick up the food we asked and they made it really quickly for us. That was a much better quantity for my two young kids than the regular main dishes. The place seems relatively new, but highly recommend and will definitely be going again.

Elena P.

Yelp
Was working out of town and saw Paper Platez on yelp, of course I had to stop for lunch. The food DID NOT DISAPPOINT. I could definitely come here everyday for lunch if I lived in the area. The carne asada tacos were fire and the papusa was delicious. Wish I coulda tried more but I am STUFFED. The guys working are very nice and are definitely doing something right if they're pushing out deliciousness like that. Highly recommend stopping by.

Kendra K.

Yelp
Quesabirria tacos were soggy and had no flavor, couldn't even eat them. Veggie quesadilla has more than the tacos. But wasn't great either.

Jeff C.

Yelp
I had a hankering for churros and stumbled upon this tasty treat. I ordered a churro and the queso birria tacos, and gosh, wasn't expecting both to land so well. Both were lightly crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. As others have mentioned the queso birria tacos were plenty flavorful by themselves, no consommé needed, but were still good with a light dip. I've only had these a handful of times but this food truck's QBT are the best I've had so far. The churro took a little longer to come out but definitely exceeded my expectations. Good service and decent portions for a Bay Area meal. I'll be back

Katrina H.

Yelp
Cant truly review as order was cancelled about the time it was to be delivered. So only advice dont use yelp/grub hub delivery for this business
