"The low-key neighborhood vibe, Top Pot Donuts, and inexpensive, high-quality coffee attract locals to this cozy shop. The cafe is filled with local art and handmade jewelry for sale. Owner Brittany Howard roasts coffee beans on the small roaster at the back of the cafe daily for Paper Tiger’s signature blends like Chati, a medium-roasted Brazilian coffee, and Tiger Stripe, a light-roasted Brazilian coffee for espresso." - Rachel Pinsky

Google
Great place! Will definitely visit again. Only reason service lost a star was because they were not open at the time they listed they would be and I nearly had to go the day without coffee. Once I got the coffee though, man it was bomb good. Probably gonna order their house roasted beans and see how I like their Sumatra at home in my French Press.

Google
They make good coffee drinks, i ordered the mocha and they had a good of milk to foam ratio and not overpowered flavors in anyway. Also, their large is really large which is practically two drinks. Seating is small but still works for a quick take away

Google
This is my favorite coffee shop that I have ever been to. When I travel, I love to find little eclectic coffee shops with really good brew. This one has everything that I love. They roast their own beans, the staff are so friendly and beautiful, the atmosphere is eclectic and cozy. OBSESSED!!!

Ashley Baylor

Google
The staff close early often, and if you arrive 45mins before they close, they will do everything in their power to make you feel unwelcome so that you go ahead and leave, even telling you you can’t sit outside because they are closing (even though they’re not closing for a long time). Lattes are inconsistent- sometimes amazing, sometimes I’m unable to drink them. These problems have been consistent the entire 5yrs I’ve lived here, and since there are so many other shops to choose from, I have finally just decided to give up.

Brent Miller

Google
I loved this place. They were roasting some coffee when I came in, and the ambience is great. I just got a simple latté, and it was good enough to drown out the noise of my kids complaining that I stopped for quality coffee.

Google
Super cute shop with awesome staff and really nice coffee. We stopped in while house hunting and the girls offered us some advice and the coffee was great. We also grabbed a doughtnut which was super fresh so that was nice. 10/10 all the way around.

Google
Love this establishment! It became under new ownership like 2 years ago and that really helped. The coffee is strong and the atmosphere is nice with the cool art work. The owner is a mom with 2 dogs and makes it a priority to feel welcomed and family-friendly.

Google
💥We have just found our local FRESHLY ROASTED Coffee Shop ☕️ 😋 Decaf: WATER decaffeinated!!! Wonderful atmosphere, incredible service. Thank you 🥰

Yelp
Chatted with the barista. She was funny and humble. Love her origin story and love supporting employee owned businesses. Coffee and vibes are a locals 'must try'.

Maddy H.

Yelp
Overall, this was a refreshingly local coffee shoot that wasn't trying to be more than it is. I love that they roast their own beans. The barista was nice and the wifi works! Wish that the coffee wasn't so basic though of add any flavor from an extensive list but more curated.

Lois M.

Yelp
Stopped in for a coffee - used to come here years ago - and was pleasantly surprised to find they had survived the pandemic and was still here. Yes, they're under new ownership but I think the new owners have kept alive the spirit of the original Paper Tiger owners. They roast their own coffee, have an array of baked goods, and a coffee menu that covers most things coffee. However, I didn't see a cortado listed anywhere so asked if they made one and got a positive response. I placed my order and chose a cinnamon crunch muffin to go with it. The limited tables in the seating area were all full so I drank my cortado and ate my muffin in the car. The cortado wasn't as hot as it could have been and the muffin wasn't very crunchy but overall, Paper Tiger is nice little addition to Vancouver. The nice big shared parking lot is a bonus!

Deedee C.

Yelp
Got what Ash recommended, the iced caramel oat milk latte. It was so delicious. Can't wait to try their other creations. If you're coming by car, there's lots of parking in the plaza attached. Plaza is a little dinky and this coffee shop lifts the whole area up. Seems like all the young trendy folks come here.

Kristin T.

Yelp
Wonderful stop in for coffee before we had a long day ahead of us. Bright and inviting coffee shop just down the street from where we staying.

Tiffany R.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop, plenty of parking. The only thing I would say is... there's not a lot of space. So it's mostly for 1-2 people they have a big table and some small ones outside but the street is pretty busy and rather not sit out with three people kids. Staff is awesome, they have coloring books. I liked the coffee so much I bought a bag. They have the machine right in the back which is awesome.

Stephanie B.

Yelp
The coffee was okay, nothing special. We got an iced mocha and an iced caramel oat latte. Parking was easy to find and there was not a long wait while inside. Small coffee shop with limited seating. The owner was there when we went - not the friendliest - we wanted to experience the "siphon coffee" because it looked cool in the pictures but she said it wasn't available & said "it's just a way we brew the coffee" I already knew that but wanted to see the process in person...

Patty W.

Yelp
Just alright coffee, but I fully admit that it could just be my preferences just happen to not match the roaster's flavor profile. The service was friendly, and the space was cheerily decorated by art you could take home for the right price. I just wish I liked the coffee more.

Roydn B.

Yelp
A delightful stop for espresso or mixed coffee drinks. The service is friendly and enjoyable. I like when the coffee roaster is working. It adds to the warm environment.

steven m.

Yelp
You know what they say; "if you want to find love, go to the paper tiger." I love when my senses are so delicately assaulted by the different roasting aromas. I love how the low rumble of the roasting gears rock my soul to sleep like a new born. I love how the baristas' gentle conversation swoons me to mellow like the sirens of Greek lore. I love the balance of flavors tickling my taste buds like a 16th century idiom tickles your fancy. Stop in to Paper Tiger and find love

Yelp
10/10 [1]Food -- Amazing. Personally I'm not a coffee drinker, I go with my partner and he gets the coffee. He said it was great! I got an oolong tea with some vanilla syrup. Never had the combo before, just a vision. I loved it. We also got an apple fritter, and a dark chocolate muffin. Both were OUTSTANDING, on their own and especially in little bites with sips of our beverages. Moist, but not spongey. Sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. [2]Service -- Just one person taking orders and making all the drinks! So obviously, be patient. They were equally patient with us as we asked questions about the menu. The barista was very nice and welcoming. We stayed for a while, and they said goodbye to us as we left. [3]Ambiance -- Loved it. There is a shabby parking lot, but that rickety feeling fades the moment you start walking up to the store. There is outside seating (one table, I'd say. Fits two, from what I recall). There were many trinkets and doodads to look at and appreciate when you enter. I couldn't find any of their own merchandise, though. That, you can find online. Unfortunately, the item I was hoping to find was no longer being sold. It was a 15oz paper tiger coffee roaster tumbler, with a handle. It was adorable. Hope they bring it back.

Sara W.

Yelp
Nope. No. Not at all. The espresso was so over pulled that it was bitter and not drinkable. The atmosphere was not welcoming or inviting. What a bummer. Both beverages ended up in the trash.

Bryan M.

Yelp
If you are looking for a great coffee spot you have found it. These folks roast their own beans here at the shop. Reasonable prices on the drinks. Staff that isn't miserable to be here working. Cool old school coffee shop vibes. The barista Luree is such a delight and knows her coffee stuff! If you need beans for home try out one of the many roasts they offer. They also display local art and goodies to shop for.

Lindsay M.

Yelp
Latte was good and it smelt great when I walked in. Staff was average and answered a question begrudgingly for me. Wet vac is sitting out right next to the coffee bean roaster (ew). Overall I may go back to avoid Starbucks if I'm in the area as the latte was still good.

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
I'm not a coffee drinker, but I love this place! It's down home local where Vancouver-ites can get social and feel understood in these times of Covid. Easy parking lot, outside tables, community bulletin board... My newest favorite is Turmeric Golden Milk Latte.

Christina S.

Yelp
Paper Tiger for the win! We walked up on a cold, rainy morning and could smell the coffee roasting from the parking lot. My partner roasts his own coffee and he actually said it is better than what he does at home - which is something he's never said. The inside has a nice, local neighborhood spot feel. Our only small gripe is that the temperature the brewed coffee is kept at is very hot - all it needs is a good 10 minutes to cool off before drinking. We came back the next day for three more cups!

Greg T.

Yelp
Cool, eclectic café with excellent coffee. I went with the black currant iced coffee on the owners recommendation and I wasn't disappointed. There was plenty of cassis flavor without it being overpowering and with a bit of cream and sugar it was one of the best iced coffees I've had.

Chase M.

Yelp
Came through here while my son was at a taekwondo tournament. It was in the oddest strip mall ever and I was pretty sure I could by anything you would never need in the shops around it. Typical outskirt Vancouver... That said it was a tiny tiny shop, barely can walk around people to get to order. The coffee was solid, the snacks were from the bakery next door and fresh and amazing. The staff was very friendly and put up with my stupid jokes and questions. I would recommend this to a friend who is stuck in the drive through coffee and Starbucks rut. Come in and grab yourself a cup of quality.

Katherine D.

Yelp
Excellent coffee, would definitely come back, I got the hazelnut cardamom latte and it was great

Jared W.

Yelp
Super average coffee. The vibes are kind of fun if you like a low maintenance, traditional coffee spot. The attraction to this coffee shop may lie more in their community engagement and staff than in an exceptional cup of coffee. We tried an almond milk latte, a regular drip coffee, and a breve latte and no one found these drinks good enough to return for. The reviews for this place are really good so maybe we just visited on an off day.

Angela K.

Yelp
Good coffee and cute place! Missing one star because the girl didn't understand what I wanted- a decaf coffee with frothed oat milk.

Shirley R.

Yelp
I simply love the decaf coffee at Paper Tiger! It's the best I have ever found anywhere.

Melanie V.

Yelp
Ordered an iced vanilla latte. The barista didn't pull any shots, instead they pulled a big jug of what looked like cold brew out of a fridge to make the latte with. Thought that was strange, it's the second time I've been here that that has happened. I don't live nearby so I forgot about that. Just thought people should know. It taste like cold brew with milk and sugar, not at all what I wanted. Friendly barista though.

Jillian D.

Yelp
Regular place I get coffee; during the weekends mostly. Kind and attentive staff. Delicious and strong coffee and espresso. Love this place!

Stacy C.

Yelp
My new favorite coffee shop in Vancouver :) Delicious coffee. Sometimes a little wait as their baristas are often working solo, but worth it in my opinion. I've been here 3x now and still happy. All syrups are house-made (yum!) and don't just taste like simple syrup. These folks also carry ALL the milk alternatives for those of us that skip on the dairy in our beverages, not just soy. I especially enjoy the black currant latte with hemp milk. Fun fact- the staff take an intern each year from the school for the blind and the school deaf. Appreciated that I could hear the joy in the barista's voice when I asked her about it. Love that they're investing in our community. Cute place and a darling little bakery next door as well. Check it out!

Tess W.

Yelp
Great coffee. One of the best americanos I have had in the area. I love family run coffee shops and roasters I want to see them succeed! They have hemp milk as one of the milk alternatives! Which is a fun plus for me because it is my favorite and many places don't offer it. I did have an unpleasant issue with one of the employees but every other time with different employees has been pleasant and positive interactions. Plus the owner apologized and made it right. Most businesses won't go out of their way to make anything right these days so this is a huge thing to me! It shows pride and honor and that the owner cares about his business and his product. Support this business because we need small businesses like this with good people running them.

Shaedyn M.

Yelp
I didn't spend a lot of time in here, because I just wanted to pick up a quick coffee, but quick doesn't seem to be their motto. That is okay with me though, as long as there is at least quality. They have 4(?) sauces that they make in house, including caramel. I chose to add caramel to my americano of course. I wasn't against anything about this place or coffee, but I wasn't too impressed either. I shall remain impartial and give it the "A-OK" rating (3 starts). It did take me forever to maneuver the parking lot to find a place I was allowed to park, however. Might be back, might not. I'm so in between on this review that I have to come back to experience the whole thing and re-rate I suppose?

Bob Z.

Yelp
I ordered coffee for a friend who lives in Vancouver. Kenny kindly helped me out with a note and fast service! My friend is happy with this surprise gift. Thank you for helping me out from Wisconsin!

Selena N.

Yelp
Went for coffee here, for a change, recommended by a friend. We drove all the way from Gladstone. It was ok, slow service, slower paced cafe in general. Had a savory gallete there too, which was good but too much cheese on bottom of it. It was ok, but not the best we've had. We wanted to go and see our friend's art and say hello. So it was worth the drive up! Nice to support smaller cafes like this one

Reverend S.

Yelp
So Paper Tiger responded and left my opinion more or less unchanged. Diabetes is not exactly the current fad going around. There some very good products on the market which I know because many of their competitors carry them. So again, the outcome is that they do not want my (or most other diabetics) business. Which is fine, it's not like there are not other options. I would heartily recommend Sacred Grounds just up north of them aways.

Stephanie P.

Yelp
My favorite coffee comes from Paper Tiger! I grew up in Vancouver but now travel for my husbands job. My family still lives up there so they buy my coffee and ship it to me every couple months. The owners have done an amazing job of testing their roasting of their beans and I have yet to find one I do not like. Definitely worth a visit when in town or even ordering on-line!!!

Jeffrey C.

Yelp
Alright, so, Paper Tiger is a cool little place. I appreciate that they do their own roasting. I really liked the barista who served me when I went for the first time. The baked items were pretty good. I ordered a four-shot americano. I expected in this drink to get a robust, thick, delicious coffee flavor. A coffee experience should bring me to the region in which the coffee berries were grown and the locale in which they were processed. The complexity of the coffee needs to be like a symphony on my tastebuds, with so many different flavor notes playing a single composition to my brain. The problem at Paper Tiger, though, was the notes fell a little flat. There were wisps of greatness, but the players felt as if they were struggling to find their lungs to bring force really good coffee should have. I gave four stars for the whole experience. The coffee really was three stars--but could be five! I think the problem is the conductor to Paper Tiger's symphony. That is, they need a different espresso machine. They need a Marzocco, or at least a Synesso if they would like to be a little more regionally business minded. The players are all there. They just need the inspiration a truly good machine could bring to their orchestra.

Pablo R.

Yelp
Very friendly staff and great selection of fresh roasted, whole bean coffee. They had their whole bean coffees in three different sizes (8 oz, 12oz and 1 lb). They took the time to explain the differences between the 8or 9 varieties of coffee they had. Would highly recommend.

Amanda C.

Yelp
Upon seeing a yelpified seal of approval from my coffee guru Sara B., I decided it was finally time to go check out Paper Tiger Coffee Roasters for myself. Greeted by a menu full of caffeinated goodness, I opted to order an iced coffee to compliment our lovely heat filled weather. I am not sure what blend of coffee I ended up with, but it was strong and didn't become weak and/or watered down as the ice melted, which was a major plus in my book. Whatever I had was tasty and made me look forward to trying some of the other blends on future visits. In addition to awesome coffee, Paper Tiger rocks some neat artwork, a book shelf packed with classics, events such as poetry nights, and a friendly staff. This combination definitely created more of a funky Portland-y vibe which for a moment or two made me wonder if I was still in Vantucky (what a happy feeling...*sigh*). I have a feeling this swanky little shop will be fueling my caffeine addiction quite frequently.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Favorite place for coffee in Vancouver. I'm not really into fancy coffee drinks so I've only tried their plain house roasts with cream and their chai latte... Both of which are the best in town. The staff has never been anything less than friendly. If you are planning to drink your coffee there it can get pretty crowded. The shop is small and there isn't a lot of seating. I used to come here for work staff meetings but we had to move locations because it was always difficult to find enough seating for 5. Overall, great neighborhood coffee shop.

Desiray W.

Yelp
I only ever support local businesses and am a HUGE coffee snob (sorry, I like what I like), so it's hard for me to find a coffee shop that actually makes my drinks how I like them. The coffee at Paper Tiger was delicious, the espresso was smooth with no bitter aftertaste.. this is the only reason I'll come back in the future. The bad? Well, I read some reviews of the staff being rude.. I definitely had a similar experience. They seemed less than thrilled about my being there. Kind of rude, no smiles, just gave me weird vibes. (I still tipped, though.) I do not like the taste of a certain brand of white chocolate, so I asked them what kind they use and they seemed to be kind of offended by the question. I also read they make some of their flavorings themselves, so that's another reason I asked, but the owner stated they are unable to make their syrups themselves anymore. I'll definitely come here again on my days off when I don't feel like driving to my own coffee shop to make my coffee myself, just because it's convenient and I can walk here, lol.

wess d.

Yelp
I simply love this place. I prefer it to the Portland coffee shops and am really glad it's located right here in Vancouver. It's a unique experience, lots of art and creativity and local mojo flow from this place. All the of the branding and design is done by the owner as well as the roasting. The owner is super knowledgeable about roasting, coffee origins and flavors and various brew methods. I've enjoyed great cold brew, pour over, french press, siphons and fantastic lattes all at this place. If you consider yourself somewhat of a coffee geek, you'll find lots to love about this place. It is definitely worth the visit.

Jamie D.

Yelp
My favorite coffee roaster in town! Great tasting coffee that rivals Stumptown, but they're reasonably priced and in Vancouver. Plus they alway have friendly and down-to-earth staff, and the owners are super cool! I remember meeting them years ago selling their coffee at a small saturday market in LaCenter. Even back then I loved their coffee, so it's exciting to see them sticking around.

Julia F.

Yelp
This is no ordinary coffee shop. They roast their own coffee, make their own organic syrups and have locally made baked goods. The owner welcomes everyone to his shop, and he cares about his employees in way that is rare these days. He even is learning sign language to communicate with his Deaf employees.

Francis L.

Yelp
This was my first experiance here and I have to say I loved the atmosphere, the look, the ambience. It was very relaxing, I ordered an Iced Mocha and my husband had a hot Latte, we both loved our drinks the total was $8.50 and I would have definatly bought more it was so good. I give this 5 stars the service was wonderful, the drink was wonderful. It was so good and I highly recommend this place.

Michael B.

Yelp
An actual coffee roaster in Vancouver with incredibly knowledgeable staff! I have been just about everywhere in Vancouver and this is hands down the most quality coffee shop around. They also do very unique methods such as siphon coffee. If you actually enjoy coffee (not cream and sugar), get here!

Ashley M.

Yelp
Went in for the first time today, staff was knowledgeable and friendly, atmosphere is cozy. Coffee was delicious! Thought it was so fun that they roasted their beans in the cafe. Had a mocha that was delightful. Highly recommended and would love to come back.

Juan M.

Yelp
This is a great coffee shop with excellent coffee and a friendly staff. Once in a while you will have to wait, but the wait is well worth it. :)

Amy M.

Yelp
Love the ambience. Love the coffee. Love the simplicity of it. Good people. Definitely worth many returns. I know this sounds strange, but their bathroom is super clean & smells well taken care of. Just makes me think the owners have pride in establishment. Last thing, they like to highlight local artists & keep the community vibe going, so I appreciate a place like this!

Kat B.

Yelp
This is a small coffee shop that's easy to miss. So bring a friend/family/stranger with you, so they can be on full alert and spot it for you. Just kidding, they have a sign out front. Good coffee and nice environment. Great place to do some work in while drinking their coffee. They roast their own beans!

Rachel N.

Yelp
My husband is a coffee aficionado and likes to know when the beans have been roasted for his espresso. This place roasts them in house. A coffee lover's dream. The shop has a very cool vibe and we'll keep coming back.

Mollie M.

Yelp
I appreciate that they accommodate the deaf community in the area. All the employees can communicate in ASL.

Melissa M.

Yelp
If you like getting talked down to, this is a winner! Barista was short and treated us like idiots. It's embarrassing to be talked down to-in my own line of work, in front of other customers (who jumped in on the chance to tell us this coffee isn't for sissies-so wrong) Don't assume everyone is from the Starbucks variety, I've been making premium coffee going on 10 years, i feel like I have a pretty good handle on it. Asked for a iced latte: ice, milk, espresso. Got-iced coffee (tastes exactly like cold brew...yes i know what that tastes like) plus, poured from a jug gives that away, diluted with milk add ice. charging $4 for an iced coffee and calling it a latte is no good for anyone- and you're not improving coffee knowledge. It's acidic and gives me heartburn, so I have that too look forward too-thanks. Besides I wanted freaking espresso. Also, don't tell my husband he doesn't want extra shots, the condescending "have you had our coffee before??!!" Doesn't help, and it's relatively comparable to other roasts in the Portland area - fyi. Maybe the owners are great, it's cool you make your own chai and syrup, but needless to say, not going back. Acting like you're on some higher level whilst not knowing your customer base doesn't sit well with me. Tip of the day: a barista should be FRIENDLY and informative, you'll make more tips, customers and money overall.

Kelly C.

Yelp
Paper Tiger Coffee was highly recommended by many of my friends, and so one day when I found myself wandering over to the Columbia River Waterfront I decided to stop by and see what all the fuss is about. First of all let me just say that the coffee is great. I got the first cup from a new pot of coffee and the taste was very smooth, strong, and clean. My pumpkin scone was moist and satisfied my sweet tooth quite nicely. For $3.75 this midmorning pick-me-up was worth the stop. The only thing was the whole "Portland vibe" felt a little forced. What others have found cute and charming I found to be a kind of obnixious (the ye'olde candyshop cash register for example). The art was totally random and there was a LOT of it, but I think that was because they were getting ready for an art festival that week. I did like the bookshelf of classic books by the door, I was bummed I didn't have any to trade. The baristas were friendly, but super spacey. I asked what kind of scones were in the case, and from the look on the guy's face you'd think I'd just asked him to split and atom. "PUMPKIN?" he replied. Um, there were clearly also some with berries... but ok, pumpkin sounds good. Then mentally processing the price for a cup of coffee and a scone took... longer than necessary (again, a problem that a normal cash register could solve). But overall he was nice and cute so I do not hold this momentary lapse of mental stamina against him. I will probably stop by again for the yummy coffee soon, but if I'm looking for the "vibe" I'll just drive the extra 15 mins to Portland.
