Walking into this restaurant, I was immediately captivated by an atmosphere that radiates the charm and warmth of an authentic Caribbean eatery. The vibrant decor and friendly staff—aside from a hostess who, glued to her computer screen while checking reservations, greeted each guest with robotic indifference—created high expectations for a memorable dining experience.
Unfortunately, the food failed to match the promise of its inviting surroundings. Every dish we sampled was disappointingly bland, lacking the bold, dynamic flavors that are the hallmark of Caribbean cuisine. The shrimp and panga fish were notably under-seasoned, missing the signature spices and zest I anticipated. Even the sides, which should have showcased tropical flair, felt uninspired and forgettable.
While the overall service was attentive and the ambiance delightful, the kitchen simply did not deliver the authentic, flavorful experience that makes Caribbean food so special. If you’re seeking a restaurant with great atmosphere, this place delivers. However, for those in search of genuine Caribbean taste, you may leave wishing for much more.
In hindsight, I should have known what to expect when the meal began with the driest bread imaginable—seemingly pulled straight from a plastic bag—and served with butter that tasted like the cheapest option from a local supermarket.
I feel like I just wasted 150 U.S. dollars.
