PappaRich, a Malaysian restaurant at Bellaire Food Street, offers delicious food and excellent value. The attentive servers are very considerate of families with kids. This is the perfect spot for family gatherings and casual business meetings. I really enjoyed my experience!

Really wished I could give 5 stars for food because the chicken laksa and the stir fried beef flat noodles were both five star. But the beef rendang and lamb dishes were horrible because they were so tough the meat had to be cut with a knife. The waitress was great until I pointed out the toughness of the meat. Her only response was that she would tell the cook to cook the dish longer. That said, I do not think I will ever order those dishes from Papparich again. But the laksa and fried noodles were good enough to visit again.

Pleasantly surprised by the quality - cuisine and service. It is a restaurant serving delicious food at fast-food latency - a hybrid between family friendliness and entree arrangements that delight the eye. The Roti Canai Rendang set the mood with its interpretation that leaves Katmer, Fatir and layered Paratha as also-rans. The Curry Seafood Pot is a Singapore interpretation of cioppini. The flavors of the diverse seafood items were held together by the sauce blend. The Singapore Rice Noodles were good but not too rich mercifully. Obviously, this isn't a copycat dish but prepared by someone who is thoroughly familiar with the variations. The Assam Fish used large chunks of Swai - Vietnamese?. The limitations of my chopsticks skills were evident as I grappled the pieces but all those varieties of vegetables (e.g. eggplant) in the sauce was again very enjoyable. The Cold Pappa Cham was a little mild for my liking. The Hot Teh Tarik was good for those accustomed to frothy milk in their tea but prior choice of the tea blend would have been nice. Should have gone EZ on the Cold 3 Layer Tea was a first time experience with palm sugar. S'sh, don't tell the diet conscious folks about it.

Came here late and the server allowed us to stay. Excellent customer service. Food was good and affordable. Beef Rendang was good meat was tender. Go Mi Reng was good too and fresh.

What a wonderful restaurant tucked away in Chinatown! I’m no connoisseur of Malaysian cuisine, but the food here is amazing. From wonderful curries to an assortment of vegetable dishes, everything tastes rich and balanced. The star of the show, for me, was the Hainanese chicken. I hadn’t had it in decades, and the moment I took a bite, it brought me back to my youth. Definitely a high recommendation for anyone in the Houston area.

This place is legit! Hainan chicken rice - The chicken was very tender, perfectly done. The rice however lacks flavor. Sauce was good too! Laksa - Beware that it may be too spicy for some. I loved it. The ingredients were great and the soup flavor was intense and rich. It already have fish ball so unless you want prawns, get the extra otherwise, chicken is a little cheaper. Good noodles. Taste like the authentic one. Chow kwai teo - The flavor was very good. It's not curry based unlike some Chinese restaurant just add cut powder. This one was authentic. Luck Texan, this place is legit.

Do not order takeout online here. I wanted to try their Wat Tan Hor for lunch, but what I received looked nothing like the description. It was basically a plate of leftover-looking rice noodles with no chicken or shrimp as advertised. I honestly don’t even feel safe eating it. And yet, it cost me $17. That’s insane — it feels like robbery and leaves you feeling disgusted. Avoid this restaurant

OMG this place is sooo good!! We came after a recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint! Everyone inside was very friendly and helpful with choosing what to order. We got the beef rendang with roti, which was super flavorful but there were only a few pieces of meat, which was hard to share with many people. I have gone back and just ordered the beef rendang dish which has a lot more meat, which is better for sharing. However, the roti platter does let you sample multiple different flavor. My go-to dishes are the fried eggplant and slizzing tofu. These dishes are sooooo tasty with amazing sauce and perfectly complement the dishes. I looove a ton of sauce on my food so these dishes definitely deliver and taste very homey. Lastly, the hainese chicken is a staple. They give a good amount of chicken that was easily shareable and tasted exactly how I wanted it to! 10/10 for all the dishes! I've already been back a few times after with friends and can't wait to be back to try more dishes!

My cousin's uncle (on her dad's side) recommended we go here since I've never been before and they said this was their favorite spot for malaysian food. My cousin who had been to Singapore said she liked this place also because their food reminded her a little of the food she had in Singapore. We came for a Sunday lunch and it was somewhat busy, they had several tables open but the groups that came in were of at least 4 people. There was probably 1-2 people serving but I only saw 1 person taking orders and she was going to each table that just got saw to take everyone's orders on her Ipad. We had asked for water and that took a while to get brought out to us but eventually we got cups of water and bowls/ utensils then the food started coming out. We had also asked for small sharing bowls 3 times to 2 different people that never got brought out because we wanted to share the Laksa but eventually someone brought out some bowls when they saw we were trying to share the Laksa. I'd come back here but maybe try to go on a non-busy hours of operation so we can potentially get better service.

PappaRich is my favorite Malaysian restaurant in town! The waiters are incredibly kind, the service is fast, the restaurant is always kept clean, and the food is delicious! This time around, I brought a friend to try it out for her first time! We got the sizzling tofu, the char kway teow, and the roti. Everything was a 10/10! The sizzling tofu was slightly crispy on the outside and so silky inside. The roti was flaky and I loved the variety of curries to dip it in. Everything was seasoned super well. I am always excited to come back here!

Papparich has a nice interior decoration. Staff was very friendly and service was excellent. Food came out very quick since it was a Monday night. Ordered the plain roti canai; came with 3 sauces. Enjoyed this! Tofu came out on a sizzling plate, but it wasn't sizzling :/ Tasted alright Was disappointed with the hokkien mee. The color was off (usually darker) and it wasn't savory enough. Highlight of the dinner was the Fried Hainanese chicken. Super delicious! Great flavor, juicy chicken, crispy skin, and a variety of sauces! Would mainly come back for the roti, fried Hainanese chicken, and to try other dishes.

So so so good. The restaurant is open and airy and quiet. The roti is flavorful and crispy and comes with 3 sauces (or you can choose a protein). Hubby and I shared the curry chicken and Sambal shrimp Nasi Lemak and there was just enough for both of us. Hubby enjoyed the jasmine tea. Angie, our server, was friendly and gave suggestions as well as explained the menu to us. We came late afternoon and beat the rush, the restaurant was quiet. Love this place. We will definitely be back.

Such an underrated spot for such amazing food. I haven't heard much talk about Papparich ever since their opening, but it's a solid spot for Malaysian food. Their milk tea was bold and not too sweet. Hainan Chicken was buttery soft, but could use a bit more flavor in the sauce. Beef Rendang was good, but a tad salty. My most favorite entree of the night was the Seafood Laksa. So so so so flavorful, generous portions, and came with a bunch of proteins. The noodles tasted great even when I reheated it the next day. I am also obsessed with the pickled vegetables they give. It tastes a bit like curry, and it complements the heavier dishes perfectly. I might just buy a jar to keep at home. One small thing is that they cooked our food at lightning speed and brought out the three entrees at the same time even before we got appetizers. This made the atmosphere feel a bit rushed and a bit overwhelming, since you had to try everything before it gets cold. I would suggest telling them to pace the entrees, especially if it's not too busy when you go.

Malaysian spot in Chinatown in the new gen X plaza of chaos. Parking is available but can get difficult during busy hours. Interior is clean and surprisingly casual and there's plenty of seating space. Their menu is similar to Banana Leaf and is cut down appropriately. I think they could've avoided more overlap on their menu and slimmed it down more as well for clarity to make it just a front/back on one page. We ordered a lychee soda, which was surprisingly tasty and refreshing; literally lychee syrup with carbonated water and a couple lychees in it. They also had some coffees available in addition to other drinks. For the food that we ordered; Malaysian style chicken wings- 2/5. A bit bland and the chicken was a bit overcooked in addition to not being crispy. There was no batter so if it was fried too long, the meat dried out quickly. Beef rendang roti- 4/5. The rendang is delicious and the best thing we had here. The roti however looked like they were made from frozen pancakes and that was a bit of a bummer. Would be great if the roti was freshly made. Beef rendang nasi lemak- 4.5/5. Delicious beef rendang again and the rice and sides are great to go with it as well. Char kway teow- 4/5. Another common Malaysian street dish. The noodles here was slightly bland, which is the only complaint I had. Hainanese chicken- 4/5. Super tender chicken! Wish the soy sauce mixture was a bit more flavorful and fragrant. Chili prawn- 4/5. Solid sweet and spicy chili sauce on top of fried shrimp/prawns. Overall, this is an affordable Malaysian spot in an area now filled with overhyped Instagram friendly foodie spots. There's your main Malaysian street foods that are executed well enough. Their beef rendang is delicious and their other stir fried noodles pair well with Indian inspired dishes.

We came here because Malaysian food sounded enticing. Parking can be a pain. The restaurant is located in a little strip mall and they do have a free parking garage. However, the garage gets filled up fast and people have a lack of parking skills. Make sure your car doesn't get dinged up by another car. The restaurant itself is very casual and our server gave us some good recommendations. We got 3 layer iced tea, beef rendang nasi lemark, roti canai, and Hainanese chicken rice set. -3 layer iced tea 5 - refreshing drink. It's made of milk, tea, and palm sugar -beef rendang nasi lemark 5 - beef was very tender. I really like the sauce that was on it. It tastes really good with the white rice. -roti canai 5 - Indian flatbreads with 3 different dipping sauces. Very tasty. -Hainanese chicken rice set 4 - chicken could be more tender but it was decent. I liked that you have chili, ginger garlic sauce, and sweet soy sauce to dip the meat in.

One of the seemingly few Malaysian restaurants around town nowadays, so definitely glad to have this option. We typically order the teh tarik, Hainan chicken, roti canai, and curry laksa. The food is always on point. Service is friendly and the place is clean. Only downsides are the prices are pretty steep, and parking at Bellaire Food Street is the worst.

I was on my way home and was thinking of a place to eat for dinner. One place that came to mind was PappaRich. A very long time ago when they first opened I gave them a visit. I was surprised I never did a review until now. I stopped in when it was not a busy time an hour or two before closing. I was surprised there are 2 menus: Chinese dishes and Malaysian dishes. I was set with what I wanted. I picked a few appetizers: Mixed satay beef and chicken, beef rendang roti. The Teh Tarik iced which is the pulled tea with condensed milk. For the main course: Hainanese chicken rice set which also came with a soup. The satay is flavorful and definitely it's a great starter. It comes 2 of each and the peanut sauce is a great addition. The beef rendang roti was delicious too. The curry that came with it provided various flavors too. The roti was fresh and hot and dipping it in all three gives you a chance to sample everything. I would love to get the beef rendang next time I come in. The Teh Tarik is refreshing. I have yet to try it hot but it reminds me of the same way Hong Kong cha chaan teng's do their milk teas. Finally the Hainanese chicken. The Hainanese chicken is tender and has great flavor. It does come with a bowl of broken grain rice. I had to try and see what would be best to eat it. The sauces are a nice chili, sweet soy sauce and ginger garlic sauce. All have it complex flavors and also the bean sprouts and cucumber. The side soup is nice and light in flavor. Overall I know the plaza PapaRich is definitely is busy and offers many cuisines. But I find it to be my favorite Malaysian restaurant so far. Very casual and the staff are very nice too. There are many choices in the menu I have yet to try. But I will definitely come back for more. *Hainanese chicken is a staple dish in Malaysia & Singapore. If someone were to not know how it is prepared they would say it is "not cooked" or in blunt terms "raw". It is poached chicken and hence the tenderness of it. If that is not your alley, go with the fried version. But I would question why you are eating at a Malaysian restaurant and not know that. But that's my small rant.*

During a regular Friday afternoon, my friends and I decided to try out a restaurant that we had heard good things about. We arrived at the restaurant around 11:50 am and found that it was relatively empty. However, the cleanliness of the place was very impressive. The staff members were incredibly friendly and helpful, which made our experience even more enjoyable. I decided to order the Fried Hainan Chicken Set, while some of my friends opted for the curry lamb and seafood soup. Unfortunately, I cannot recall what the others ordered. Overall, the food was delicious, and I particularly enjoyed the Fried Hainan Chicken Set that I had ordered. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others who are looking for a friendly and clean environment with tasty food.

Great southeast Asian restaurant with a variety of menu options such as beef rendang, hainan chicken, veggies etc. The fried hainan chicken set provides a quarter of a chicken. The crisp on the chicken provides good texture - although it is a bit dry. There are a few dipping sauces - ginger, soy sauce, chili. Also includes a small bean sprout salad. 4/5 The roti canai is nice and crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The three dipping sauces are flavorful (including a curry sauce) and help complement bring out the flavor in the bread. 5/5

Average restaurant. Not bad, but not special. If you're craving some Malaysian food in Chinatown, this may help. I wish they provided more roti for the dish, but the amount seems to track with the Malaysian places in Houston. The restaurant has plenty of seating. The servers were nice.

I thoroughly enjoyed trying PappaRich, a popular Malaysian chain found throughout Malaysia, Australia, and Indonesia. I first heard about them when I saw their location in Flushing NY, so when I found out that they were opening their 2nd US location in Houston Chinatown I knew I had to go try! Here's what I ordered: Seafood Curry Laksa ($12.50) - love a good laksa! the curry was flavorful and decently spicy, with lots of fresh seafood too Roti Canai Chicken Curry ($9.99) - the roti tasted a bit dry to me, but still decent Beef Rendang Nask Lemak （$12.95) - the beef was super tender and decent flavor, really liked eating everything with sambal sauce Also, the owners speak Mandarin and are very friendly!

I came here for dinner on a Monday evening and food was delicious. I ordered the Seafood Curry Laksa and the Nasi Lemak crispy chicken. Seafood Curry Laksa was very flavorful though the noodles were over cooked for me (too soft). Spicy level I'd say it is less spicy than hot cheetos (hopefully you can gauge the spice level from that). Let's talk the toppings! So so generous with the seafood and everything was tender. The Nasi Lemak was also super yummy. I thoroughly enjoyed the sambal (also a mild spice) and the crispy chicken, the chicken was a tad dry but the sauce was a quick fix. I wish more sambal and sauce was given but maybe I just need to request it next time. I personally am not the biggest fan of the coconut rice but it wasn't necessarily bad, just a personal preference.

Listen... PappaRich was an unexpected stop with an unexpected experience. The food was phenomenal, the service was superior, and access was mostly easy. The parking lot isn't as abundant as I'd expect, but there is a parking garage next to the strip. Of course, it's also off my beaten path, but I'd gladly make a trip there - that's how good it was. The vibe is very modern, clean, and aesthetically pleasing. The restaurant is snuggled in the heart of Bellaire in the "Food Street" plaza and is visible from the street. We tried an assortment of dishes - from curry to fried rice - and nothing disappointed. It was hot, and fresh, and came out pretty quickly. My favorite was the kimchi appetizer! I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area - I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Roti Canai was the objective and PappaRich came through. PappaRich in Chinatown is one of two in the country, the other one being in New York. This one is located right off Bellaire in the popular Bellaire Food Street strip center. Parking is limited right out front, but they do have a parking garage as well. We came at dinner time and the place was completely empty which usually raises concern but it picked up around the time we were ready to leave. Customer service was great from start to finish. Our waitress was patient with us and explained all the dishes we had questions about. Since we knew we wanted Roti Canai, we ordered a couple of orders of that plain as an appetizer while we looked over the menu for our entrees. The roti came out pretty quick but came out hot and fresh. The roti comes two in an order with three different sauces/curries. There was a dahl (lentil curry), a sweet and spicy sambal sauce and what tasted like curry from the rendang. The roti was cooked to perfection. Many different countries have roti, but they are all so similar. It was flaky yet fluffy and had a wonderful taste on it's own. The delicious sauces were just an added bonus. We ordered three entrees so we could get a good sampling of their dishes. A must have Malaysian food other than the roti is slow cooked beef rendang. This dish was by far my favorite thing of the night. The portions were generous. The beef was slow cooked and fall apart tender. The flavors were very reminiscent of the south Indian flavors I grew up on. They serve their entrees with a flavorful white rice which I understood to be cooked in a chicken broth that was very good. We wanted to try other proteins as well so we went with Salted Egg Squid as well as the Fried Hainanese Chicken. The squid was perfect in my opinion. It came out hot and fresh, had a nice crunch and the flavors were on point. The chicken was a huge portion of chicken that was lightly fried with a light coating. It gave is a small crunch but had good flavor. It came with 3 different sauces which all complimented the chicken nicely. The sweet and spicy sambal sauce was my favorite and went with all the dishes honestly. Overall, a very great meal was had here and they have become my current favorite Malaysian spot. I will definitely be back.

I've been trying other Malaysian restaurants in Katy and Sugar Land in the past. Decided to take out of town guests since it's easier to meet in Chinatown than the suburbs. Came on a week night around 6:45 pm and it only had one table. We were seated immediately and got a complimentary Malaysian kimchi on the house. It was a few sticks of carrots with cabbage. Ordered 1/2 Hainanese chicken, chicken laksa, and sizzling egg tofu. We got the Hainanese chicken first. This is a poached dish and we found the meat to be dry. Thank goodness the soy sauce helped. Some pieces of the rice were undercooked. We won't be ordering this dish again. The sizzling tofu tasted ok but they were definitely not sizzling. Laksa was the best out of the 3 we ordered. Service was fast but there are better options.

5 star Must try: Roti canai. The roti is perfectly done. It's flaky, crispy yet soft and moist. All 3 dipping sauces are great as well. Laksa and nasi lemak are authentic and good enough to cure your craving, but they won't blow you away.

Service was good and the restaurant was clean but I was disappointed with the food. For the Sambal squid I did not think it was very special and the squid texture did not taste very good. for $18. I probably would've expected a bit more. The roti canai was good, and I enjoyed the sauces that came with that. The assam fish was probably my favorite dish but I wish it were actually sour as described on the menu. The okra and the eggplant were really tender but the fish had too much breading, and it tasted a bit dense and soggy. . The char kway teow unfortunately was the biggest disappointment because the noodles were way over cooked, and they were very soggy. I know stir fried rice noodles are not supposed to have this texture, so I was definitely disappointed by this.

I visited on a Saturday for lunch. The interior is modern with a lot of lime green colors and woods. I am not a big fan of the parking at this shopping center, as I usually have to park in the garage. If there is a special event going on at one of the businesses, then parking becomes very difficult. I ordered the char kway teow beef, chicken wings, sizzling tofu, salted egg squid, and eggplant in clay pot. When first arriving at your table, they provide a complimentary small dish consisting of cabbage in peanut sauce with carrots. My favorite dish I ordered was the eggplant. The remaining dishes are similar to others you get at Malaysian restaurants. I was a bit disappointed with the beef dish, which is basically a Malay version of pad thai with beef. You just don't get much beef with the dish.

Amazing food!!!! Absolutely delicious!!!! Loved the roti with the dal and the fried chicken. Great service and ambiance! Surely will visit again in the near future. Malaysian food is delicious

Tipping is on the rise across the U.S. as more and more businesses have started asking for a little extra: Fast food restaurants, grocery stores, plumbers, online retailers, stadiums, and even self-checkout machines are now asking for a tip these days. When you are having meals in the restaurant, It's the moment when you've paying your ordered and the waiter turns the payment screen toward you, with prompts asking you for a tip. But tipping is out of control when they charge 18% of service charge of over lunch service. The government should take necessary action to begin control the outrages tipping system. 政府应采取必要的行动，开始控制失控的小费制度。

Tried this place for the first time. Really good Malaysian food! We ordered the Roti Beef Randang appetizer. It was so good. Probably our favorite dish! Next time I'll order the Beef Randang plate as well. Also ordered the sizzling tofu to share (2nd favorite dish). I ordered the curry chicken Nasi Lemak. And we also ordered the the shredded chicken and shrimp soup. By far the favorites were the Roti and tofu dishes. Full of flavors! The staff was very sweet and attentive. Always there to refill beverages or bring extra napkins.

Can Hawaii step up their game and have more/better Asian cuisines?? I first had Malaysian food in Seattle and then again in Vancouver and both times were just amazing. In Hawaii, we don't really have Malaysian restaurants so when I'm traveling I try to look for foods I can't get back home. PappaRich kept popping up on my yelp feed so onto the itinerary it goes! Our server was really nice and attentive (also a plus that she spoke Cantonese) and gave us her recommendations. We got the Roti, Hainan Chicken, the Fried Hainan Chicken, and the Beef Tenderloin. The winners were the Hainan Chicken and the Beef Tenderloin. It is an absolute compliment when Asians say that the chicken is so "slippery"; it was so soft and easy to eat. I honestly was taken back by the Beef Tenderloin, I didn't expect to love it so much! It was literally so tender and flavorful that I could cry. Houston was really winning our hearts with all this yummy food at such good prices. Our server was really trying to win my parents over by convincing them to move...and I could see why

After striking out numerous times in California, NYC, and even Asia itself, it seems I've found my favorite PappaRich location to be here in Houston. As one of the more well known spots within the Bellaire Food Street strip, it's become a reliable source of quality Malaysian fare that I can enjoy often. Parking here is abysmal. I've always been lucky enough to find a space or two near the designated parking garage, but it can get so busy here that people will sit idle in their cars till someone actually leaves. I always think coming here at non-peak hours is key. From the outside, the restaurant doesn't look like much. Take a peak on the inside and it's quite spacious. There's a lot of room in between tables and the lunch popularity really varies. I appreciate the friendly staff, who seems as multilingual as they speak Mandarin, Canto, English, and for some, Malay. I have been fortunate to enjoy a lot of their items and have come away giving thumbs up ever since. Their chicken / lamb satay are tasty, as is thei roti canai which has always paired well with the curry chicken. I also really enjoy their beef rendang and practically nasi anything ... be it lemak, goreng, etc. I haven't had the pleasure of trying everything just yet, but I always enjoy any opportunity to dine here.

Let me start by saying that service was great! Though the servers don't speak English well, they're efficient and on point. The place itself isn't fancy at all. It looks kind of like a canteen or lunch hall. Very casual. Most of the diners actually seemed Malaysian, which says something about the authenticity of the restaurant. Having said that...either I'm not a fan of authentic Malaysian food, or I ordered the wrong things. We tried: curry chicken (3/5), beef rendag roti kanai (4/5), and sizzling tofu (5/5). Give it a shot and see if you like it. Try the tofu! Even if you're not a tofu fan.

Yum!! So excited to find a Malaysian restaurant here. We had the hainanese chicken rice, chicken laksa, chicken satay & lychee soda. Everything was yummy and the lychee soda especially was super delish and refreshing.

My friends and I went here for lunch on a Thursday, and we all loved it. The place was relatively empty (we went around 1:00 PM), very clean, and the servers were very friendly! I ordered the beef rendang from the lunch menu, and I really enjoyed it. It tasted like a pot roast with southeast asian spices, and the sides complemented it perfectly. The fried tofu was especially good, as it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The bean sprouts were reminiscent of the Korean bean sprout side dish/banchan, except this marinade was more savory. The accompanying bowl of soup tasted like the broth you receive at Vietnamese restaurants with dry noodle/rice dishes, which always hits the spot! The pickled cabbage really tied the lunch special together for me. The tangy crunch was delicious and a great palate cleanser. The soft boiled egg was also cooked perfectly, and had a slight soy marinade taste that wasn't overpowering. I would consider the lunch special a very high value deal, and would absolutely recommend this place.

Nasi lemak w chicken curry 5/5 Not really a fan of the yellow curry veggie they put on the rice , but the chicken curry was yummy and rice was great. This is easily the best Malaysian restaurant in Houston, and I mean no disrespect to Mamak (which is also very delicious). I've had the Hainanese Chicken Rice in both the traditional form and the fried form. The Seafood Curry Laksa is incredible. The fried tofu special is also next level. I've tried a few of their stir fried noodle dishes. I do not recommend the Hokkien noodle, but the others are pretty good. Overall, I pray for this place to come to San Diego.

Great restaurant for homestyle Malaysian food. Service is quick and the food is delicious! We were in and out in under 45 minutes which is a huge plus (sometimes I just want to eat and leave!). We got the beef rendeng with roti appetizer, chicken curry, sizzling tofu, and the beef char kway teow - all delicious! The roti was some of the best I have ever had; warm and fluffy! 5/5 will be back

My absolute favorite Malaysian restaurant in houston!! The rice noodles have an amazing texture and the flavor profiles on all the dishes are incredible. To start, the roti is perfectly flaky and the daal they provide with it is so absolutely yummy. I then tried the curry chicken and my method to eating this was to just mix all sauces and everything together on the plate - highly recommend!! The mix of the peanuts with the cucumbers and the sauces and egg was just so good!! Definitely not pretty to look at after you mix it though so if u need ur food to be visually appealing when eating then maybe don't do that. Lastly the char kway teow beef had a great texture to the rice noodles and it was very well seasoned. Overall a wonderful experience and no reservations are necessary!

As someone who is Malaysian born from Borneo and visits both Kuala Lumpur & Sarawak (went last year for 3 weeks), this is the worst Malaysian restaurant I've ever visited outside of Malaysia. The waiter with whom I spoke is from Thailand, not Malaysia. I chose the curry laksa, roti canai, and chicken satay. Wow, the laksa was extremely spicy & oily, the chicken clicked in between my teeth (too dry ugh), and I've no idea what the sauces were for the roti canai. Even my dad said, "I don't know what this is, but it's not Malaysian!" I threw away the food in the trash. Maybe this restaurant is for those who have never stayed in Malaysia. Better stick with Mamak in Sugar Land!

There are two PappaRich restaurants in the US, the other being in NYC. We are lucky to have one here in Houston and you must try it especially if you have never had Malaysian food. Have never seen a huge crowd inside so service is always sufficient. Standout dishes were Char Kway Teow and the sizzling tofu. Not sure how it compares to Banana Leaf but I will continue to come here to satisfy any Malaysian food cravings!

The food here is good, and the service is quick! We got the roti canai and we enjoyed all three sauces that came with it. The nasi lemak with beef was also really good, and all the flavors on the plate meshed well together. The char gway teow is a staple and they definitely made it right. The portion size is a little small for family style, but good to split if you're on a date or with a friend. Definitely recommend!

I always wanted to go here because the sign outside is adorable and in my experience, every place I've been to on Bellaire Food Street has been incredible. Papparich was no different, it's actually my favorite place there now. It's small and casual inside, very clean and very bright. Every time I've been there is ample seating, even if it's busy. The people who work here are very serious about their jobs and have always been prompt and polite. They go the extra mile and package your food for you if you request a To-go box, which I always find to be a very nice touch. The menu has plenty of vegetarian options which is always appreciated, but I can personally only speak on the vegetarian curry laksa, which is AMAZING. It's such a massive portion size for like $10 and the presentation is beautiful every time. The whole thing is so savory, rich, creamy and sweet from the coconut milk and all the aromatic and tasty spices that make up the curry. The texture of this dish is so velvety and there a perfect ratio of soup to noodles to add ins. It's really full of toppings, from two different kinds of tofu, an egg, veggies like tomatoes and eggplants. You are getting a very well rounded meal with you get this curry. I love to take it to-go when I'm sick, it's the best sick food I can imagine, so warm and comforting and really feels like it's great for your body. I would highly recommend this place to anyone, if you haven't tried it you are missing out!

Holy cow. I am blown away by PappaRich! You're usually lucky to have 1 or 2 awesome dishes at a restaurant but when your entire meal is perfect, start-to-finish? That's rare. No matter what, make sure you order the Roti. It's the best I've had. Soft yet crispy -- just perfect. You can also get it with Curry Chicken or Beef Rendang. We got it with the beef -- it was a great way to try that dish without having to order the full entree. The rest of our meal: -Fried Hainanese Chicken: Excellent! Very crispy exterior and juicy meat. It came with a tasty ginger sauce and an even tastier sweet soy sauce. Seriously, the sweet soy sauce took everything to the next level. -Salted Egg Squid: Amazing. The salted egg adds a unique flavor. We dipped it in the sweet soy sauce that came with the chicken and it was fantastic. Try to finish the squid as it doesn't reheat well. -Lychee Soda: Yummy and refreshing. -Pappa Cham: Sort of like Vietnamese coffee but stronger and less reliant on the milk. It's a mix of coffee and tea which results in a unique flavor. Really liked it. The service was fast and friendly. Parking was reasonably easy (Monday, early afternoon) and there was even a covered parking area adjacent to the open lot. This was helpful since it was another scorching day (100+). I'm sure parking gets hectic at busier times. This was one of those meals where everything is great, down to the accompanying rice and condiments. This was my first time trying Malaysian cuisine and they made it a very memorable experience. I couldn't recommend this restaurant more.

Bruh...BRUH! This Malaysian joint is IT!!! omg. I typically don't like going around Bellaire but where else can you get the most authentic Asian cuisine? Let's start with the fact they had their family son working as a host and waitering a bit....ummm child labor laws? Lmfao jk, tbh if I see a family kid working in their establishment I automatically assume it's gonna be fye. And I haven't been wrong yet tbh. But yeah this boy maybe 12 years old? greeted us, sat us down, and grabbed menus for us. An older gentleman came later to take our order and took care of us the remaining time we were there. Kept checking in on us, nice, and polite. 10/10 no complaints on service. The place itself is nice and fine. Clean and upkeeped so no issues there. Now the damn food...man that was some DAMN good food. Starting with the Roti Rendang...freshly made hot and crispy roti with a rich and flavorful rendang is such a duo. The beef was tender and flavorful and the stew just glazes over the roti for a bite of crispy, tender, and juicy. I got the fried Hainanese chicken and man...that is just something else. The chicken was SO crispy along with the juicy meat in the sauce...I got lost in it. While the rice was great, I will say I prefer my homemade chicken rice. I could be biased but I find it more flavorful so it fell a bit short there for me. Still good as hell though. Definitely give this place a try if you want some good Malaysian cuisine!

the service is great. we sent back a dish and they obliged. we wanted real spicy food with no touch of sweet at all. the first dish that we got is not upto my spicy level. its sweet infact. sent it back for the noodles and this noodles is fine but not the best real malay spice. its ok like americanized ok. the same with the fried rice. ambience is good lot of parking. this is the first and last time for me. for people who want taste of malay but no spice at all they might like this place i wish them good luck

great malaysian restaurants are hard to come by but Papparich is definitely one of the top spots! They were able to take care of us, a party of 10, promptly and politely, and the place was not too packed or loud on a Saturday afternoon. Most of the food that the table ordered was delicious. Some of the outstanding dishes that we had, and would get again, are the Hainan Chicken Rice and the Roti Canai. The Hainan Chicken was so flavorful, juicy and tender, and paired 3 sauces that made the dish absolutely delicious. The Roti Canai was so light and fluffy and was paired with 3 sauces as well (sweet & spicy sambal was amazing), that lasted about a minute at the table once it arrived. One disappointing dish however was the KL Hokkien Noodles, as it lacked flavor and the noodles weren't a proper texture and taste either. Overall, this is one of the places that serve quality "malaysian" dishes, while some dishes weren't as great, the ones that were stood out tenfold, and the service and ambiance solidify it as a top-tier restaurant.

Went there on Sunday dinner time, they're understaffed, have to wait awhile for order, food and everything. Char kway teow is good except there's no see-ham and Chinese sausage. Stingray is awesome, not too spicy, great for American tastebuds. Salted egg shrimp is okay too KL hokkien noodles is the worst, tasteless and no wok hei. No pork lard causing the dish lacking the authentic flavor. The ah char (pickles) is complementary and it's also our favorite. Don't forget to ask for sambal.

Vegetarian review: Absolutely disappointed of the fact that the servers or chef hardly understand English and the meaning of VEGETARIAN!! Had to send my dishes back as they served chicken and shrimp paste with Vegetarian items despite explaining that we don't consume meat/fish etc. The only decent items are the Vege Laksa and dessert. Very upset as we were looking forward to enjoy some good malaysian food.

Updating review: This time we got the chicken curry laksa: If I got it alone, I think I would have liked it a lot. But compared to everything else, this is prob just ok. Wat Tan Hor chicken and shrimp (flat rice noodles): really good and flavorful.

We love getting a taste of Malaysia in houston! We're excited to finally see this branch of papa rich come to houston. It's a great spot for wonderful Malaysian cuisine. We can see the influence of india on this cuisine. Our favorite dishes are the sizzling tofu without chicken since we're vegetarian. We love the egg like texture and wonderful sauce on the tofu. It's served with rice which is a plus. Don't let the size of this dish fool you, it's a large portion size. We also tried the vegetarian noodle dish (char kway teow) and curry (laksa). There are plenty of vegetarian items available. We also tried the pappa cham drink, which is a coffee and tea mixture. I tried it iced and really enjoyed it. It's not overly sweet. The service was slow. We had to flag waiters down, but we understand wait time are longer with the recent staffing issues.

Service and ambiance are great! MUST get the roti canai-plain; it's so good! Laksa is amazing! Nasi lemak (beef) was good but not amazing; it comes with anchovies, and the flavors didn't mesh well. But everything else is amazing, and I LOVE coming back here
